A dark haired man peeked over the concrete barrier. He went over the barrier making his way forward. Blake let out a sigh, looking at the sky. He had to make his way to a place where he could be safe for the night. Hearing voices of the hunters he ducked back down into cover. Watching as they passed him. Letting out a breath he didn't know he was holding till now.

Going around a different way, he kept the short sword in his hand. Hunters didn't need to know he was here he knew what happened to people that got caught here. Seeing a guy up ahead of him. Sneaking forward his steps careful to make sure that he didn't make an unneeded sound. Grabbing the man his sword going through the guys back he winced before laying down the body before continuing forward.

He could hear the clickers and runners starting to return he didn't have the time. Looking around seeing no hunters Blake took his chance. Going over cover and running for one of the many houses in front of him. He could hear the the yells of infected now coming his way. Grabbing one of the nail bombs from his pack he threw it down. Hearing it explode he could feel some blood getting splattered on his jeans.

He kept moving though. Crashing through the door and slamming it shut behind him. Looking around he moved one of the shelves, in front of the door. He was breathing heavily, "this could have gone better." Going upstairs he set up a post with his hunting rifle. He adjusted the scope making sure he could pick off any of the infected that came to close.

A young woman off the far block was walking behind a row of houses as she would lean against the walls while she attempted to listen in for any nearby activity from anyone and anything. She was wearing a white woolen sweater with chopped off sleeves that reached her elbows and large jeans that she adjusted to fit with a brown belt as well as sneakers, her hair done into a long braid. She would continue to do this until she went into one of the houses and remained there for a little while, coming out patching up her machete as she sprinted for the other house, the sight of a squirming Runner corpse making her stay there still until she decided to run up the stairs.

In the far distance, two men, Hunters, were feeling the grass and searching for streaks of sneakers that belonged to Alice. After running away from them two hours ago, she didn't think they were so persistent in trying to find her.

The younger man, most definitely the older man's son, was excitedly looking for her until the sight of a recently used band-aid box was on the ground nearby the house across from the one she was hiding at. The shouted to one another until they made the decision to enter it.

Momentarily, a belted cry could be heard from anyone far or nearby as Alice tackled the father down the stairs. Although each step was bruising her ribs and back, she stabbed rapidly and furiously at him as they landed on the mat downstairs, as he gurgled blood, the son running after her as she threw burnt books at him and kitchen utensils, dashing out the patio across the street trying to head to the neck of the woods that were behind the houses in front of her, a house where she didn't know another survivor was residing: Blake.

A scream caught his attention the hunting rifle swinging in the direction. Looking out the scope seeing men following behind a woman. With a strained sigh, he still followed his dad's old rules. Shooting off one of the hunters, watching as the body fell to the ground blood already forming beneath the man's body. Pulling back and reloading he really had to make the clip bigger.

Cursing himself on his luck. Shaking his head taking aim once again he shot the other man only wounding him. His aim sucked sometimes and his luck most of the time. His jaw clenching he would have to get moving or he would just camp out in one of the rooms. He already knew there were a few runners and clickers in town.

With the sun sinking and it turning to night. Blake would camp here for the night then move in the morning it was better that way. Move during daylight camp out at night. Getting his hunting rifle attached to his bag again he grabbed the pistol he kept on himself. He might as well search the place didn't need any nasty surprises.

She was accustomed to gunfire and especially ones from snipers when swerving off of ragtag wars when she'd hike. She heard the son behind her drop heavily on the ground from the head shot but she continued to sprint towards the house, noticing as she glanced up, that the sniper scope was not shimmering in the sunlight like it had before; the shooter was gone but not gone too fast to leave the house.

The porch had a roof of shade over it and Alice leaped onto the wooden fence to climb on top of it, she carefully tread on the small roof searching for a close window above. There was a medium-sized window slightly big enough to squirm her body into so she took that route, taking her time to comfortably adjust on the sill until she slid in her body, meeting the rugged mat one light foot at a time.

Leaning against the open bathroom door, quietly attempting to recover her breath, she crouched to the stair railing as she peeped below the first floor catching a quick glimpse of a combat shoe. She reached down to her pocket and pulled out a butter knife, throwing it in the opposite direction upstairs to see if he'd shoot at it, crossing her fingers after doing so.

His head snapped in the direction the butter knife had collided with the floor. Blake took a deep breath before moving the pistol held tightly in his grip. It seemed like he wasn't alone, "you just had to play the damn hero." He muttered to himself. Moving though the house toward the sound his back against the wall he peeked out of cover to see no one.

His brows creased in confusion, though he kept the gun in his grip. Moving forward into the kitchen. Looking around picking up anything that would help. His boots making a slight sound against the wood. "Your going to get yourself killed one of these days." Once he finished making sure the kitchen was empty he moved toward one of the rooms. Opening the door, eyes widening at the runner that seemed to come at him once he opened it.

He didn't have time to grab his short sword. Falling to the floor with a thud his gun slipping from his grasp as he tried to keep the thing from biting him. His hand already searching for the pistol on the floor, luck seemed to be on his side today as his hand grasped his pistol he shot the runner in the head. Letting out a breath of relief, as he rolled the dead thing off of him.

Even though he was taunting for her to come out from hiding, her words were finding a spot in her head as she frowned, jumping to her feet at the sound of a sudden Runner. She rushed down the steps seeing the tackling play out. She stood far off the kitchen as she stood there, spaced.

He looks a little bit older me but he sounded much, much older. He's got the build of a soldier. Oh god, is he a firefly? This is probably my last chance. I've kept running into dead ones anyways. But why would he save me like that? Not that I have to admit I would've gotten killed for my... surprise attack but ugh, I'm getting off track, he's going to get killed.

Alice would've happily jumped in to return the favor but it looked like he had him so instead, she picked up his short sword, kicking off an extra clip for the pistol before he finally finished him with a shot. Alice stood by the sink in a defensive stance, gripping his sword tightly in her right hand, blood splattered on her sweater, her machete strapped around her back.

"I think your words came back to bite you," she sneered. "Don't we all have it coming sooner or later?"

Once he rolled the runner off him he heard a woman's voice. He sword gone looking to her he saw her holding his short sword. Shifting to the sitting position, seeing the clip for his pistol out of his reach. He knew his luck would run out sooner or later. Shifting the bag off of his shoulders, "just to show you I won't hurt you since I saved you from being killed in the first place. Plus I was talking to myself I knew I wasn't alone, but I was talking to myself."

He set the bag on the ground kicking it away from him as he got to his feet his hands up. "See no harm done now put the short sword down." He kept the calm tone even though he was being threatened. Looking over his shoulder to make sure the front door was blocked off he didn't need anything more coming his way he had enough as it is.

Letting out a breath, he didn't know this woman or what the hell was going on. He just had saved her for her to threaten him he seriously needed to stop playing the hero it only got him in more trouble. Why the hell did he even save her in the first place? That was the first question to himself though he didn't have an answer for it in the first place.

"I," she hesitated until she sauntered over him, helping him up back on his feet, placing the sword into the right grip of his hand. "I thought you were talking about me... I mean, it sounded a lot like me because yeah, I do have a knack for people and those things come after me but I still have hope," she frowned until she sighed, her face returning to normal but clearly exhausted.

"I'm Alice," she weakly beamed and with embarrassment in her smile, finding the meeting to be sort of awkward, reaching down to pick up her butter knife, toying around with it. "I... I have a thing for knives. I just think they finish things more quickly. I don't trust myself with a gun either, I mean, I know how to shoot one but the recoil then hurts like hell. It's not fun at all," she babbled, swaying side to side, her eyes flickering away from his suspicious gaze at times.

"Uhm, was this your house?" she forcibly asked, attempting to change the subject somehow.

Blake raised a brow, at her saying that she though he was talking to her. "No no I wasn't I just knew that I wasn't alone here anymore the minute I heard a sound." Taking the sword back into his grip welcoming the weight back. He bent down and grabbed his bag and pistol along with the extra clip of bullets.

Looking at her as she introduced herself he just nodded making sure everything was secured to his bag. Once that was done he hefted it back onto his shoulders once more. He listened to her as she explained that she had things for knives. Shrugging as she said the recoil hurt like hell. "You get stronger over time."

Looking around at the place that she asked if it was his place. "No I travel too much for this to be my home." His answer was simple he sighed, "looks like your stuck with me for the night by morning you and me should part ways." He didn't need to get attached and get hurt when they die again that was the main reason he traveled alone.
