@Sabotage Actually that's pretty close to what I'd rate my song, mainly from the knowledge they could do so much better. (maybe a 6.5/7 from bias.) 6/10 It was enjoyable enough, wouldn't call the singer a vocal powerhouse. (since you didn't get rated.)

7.5/10 That was quite fun and goofy. Liked it.

@SleepingSilence 6/10, it's interesting I'll give it that, a fun listen but not really my kind of music.

@Heat Man, everyone is giving me that response. It makes me feel like I'm the only one that listens to various genres. XD

6.5/10 Decent, his voice at the beginning felt a little shaky and whiny for me, but I found it fine once it got to the second half of the song.

(And I fully expect to once again with this pick. XD If you have 10 minutes to kill, this piece is quite fantastic. You know those people that say they listen to classical style music and are completely full of shit? Well here ya go. :P)

@SleepingSilenceI've come to save you! Fear not for as long as I stop misplacing my power adapter, I will not let this thread die.

Anyways this is the first time I've been exposed to this kind of music by another. I tend to stumble upon work like this by accident and when I'm in a curious mood I'll give it a listen. I have to admit, the start is deceiving. I expected full on classical but the song takes an unexpected turn and drives me into opera/rock? (according to amazon) town. It's heavy and emotional and I like it. A great track especially for a film I'd imagine. I'm listening to it now as I'm typing this out and it sounds like I have a movie playing in the background.

However around 6 minutes in my interest begins to wane. Songs a little long winded and a slight repetitive around the middle. Then around 8 minutes in... it's like it knows I don't want to listen anymore and does some weird stuff to get my attention again and then brings things to a close. I sat through all ten minutes...

7/10 It's a good one time listen. Kind of like reading a good story which is really what this is.

Not entirely important but I sit at number 313 on the song's list of Shazams.

Said something about lyrics last time if I remember correctly so I tried to provide a little more than "You're angry so smoke this".

@Exit <3 Thank you. And yeah even great songs, can't keep me fully entertained for 8-15 minutes. This is a background music song for sure. But that said, I do personally love it after more listens.

8/10 Rating based on first listen, needed something upbeat, I found that just very fun to listen to. Its probably closer to a 7. But, if it makes me look up another track, so it has to be good enough. :P

Speaking of just fun music to listen to. PUP, is great and has equally good videos with their songs. (really do need to listen to a full album of theirs.) Also compensating people by posting a short song this time. lol.

@SleepingSilence very bright and clean instrumentation, not the most creative tune in the genre but very listenable probably best while skating 8/10

(Not available for me. D: But I looked it up...)

4/10 I got really bored. >.< The instrumental wasn't bad, I could see me listening to solely that as purely background music. But it was a single loop over a 6 minute song. Which is usually where the flow/lyrics come in...But the story wasn't particularly interesting. Far too long for a song that never changes. The ending seems way too similar to an Eminem song and he did it better. (everyone's a critic <.<)

(Curious how people will rate this.)

@SleepingSilence First: Loved the last song you threw up. Very fun and probably one of the best music video's I've seen. Also we should just take over this thread. Seems OP is lost in the universe so he's left it up to us to carry on. We could revamp the thing, start utilizing upvotes, get some kind of plug dj party thing going. IDK. Anyways.

Artificial Light by Demon Hunter. The song is unlucky because it's being rated by myself and it sits in the realm of music that, although I don't actively avoid, I don't venture into too often. However I will give it a point for lyrics that I can understand without having to look them up so kudos to the singer for that. To my untrained ear it sounds like the typical heavy... rock (is that even right?) blend of music with strong guitar play everywhere and male vocals laced in testosterone. In the right state of mind, I enjoy such music.

The lyrics aren't simple. Granted most songs of this genre I've listened to have deeper lyrics than most (though I haven't listened to a lot). There's a message that rings true to a lot of things in the real world and it makes the song relevant. The video however, I hope that wasn't official or something. Although modeled well (I have a bit of history with building models in a 3D environment) and also a play on the song lyrics with "artificial light"... nothing happens.

Guitar solo around the middle felt just a little weak. Just a tad. Maybe my volume was too low or maybe there wasn't enough bass?

7.9/10

Thinking of adopting a new scoring system. These numerical labels are dry. My new system will look something like this:
9-10/10 Favorite/Endless Repeat.
8-10/10 Add to Playlist.
7-8/10 Share.
5-6/10 Listen.
0-4/10 Skip.

Yeah?!

@Exit Hey, that'd might be higher than I'd rate it. So perfectly fair. I think the strongest point is the pre-chorus/chorus, which made it a little addictive for me. This was one of the bands with got me into heavier stuff. It's a good transitional band. It's called metalcore usually. (All it was meant to be is a lyrical video. It's usually for people that want to know the lyrics. It's more elaborate than most.) Maybe rebooting the thread would be a decent idea. *shrugs* Not everyone will rate things the same. Which is usually why I give slightly deeper explanations. :P

7/10 Enjoyable. I actually just discovered this group right when apparently no one likes their new direction. lol. That happens all too often. :P

Well I've posted enough rock. How about a pop artist? :D (hopefully this guitar solo is more to your/whoever listens taste. :P)

@SleepingSilence There's something I really like about a song and it's lyrics when they express sex the way she has. Not a whole lot of sugar coating just "I want to FUCK you" cause yeah I want to fuck you too. Lesss go. I like it. Caters to that side of everyone that we like to keep tucked away.

Strong female vocals. They're not the best I've ever heard but they're good enough to carry their own. The rhythm is simple but it didn't need to be complex to make the song interesting. The start though caught my interest enough to hold it. The video too was enjoyable to watch. Not only for the sexual tension on display but the interesting way they portrayed the other person in the scene and the transition on the television from children's television shows to a picture for mature audiences only. Kind of an interesting take on innocence lost and such. (Not entirely sure I know what I'm talking about).

8/10 Made it on my playlist but juuuuust barely. It's on there. I'll listen to it again and then let it replay whenever the shuffle goddess decides to bring Meg Myers back into my life.

On a side note, she has a vague resemblance to Rachel Weisz (kind of?)

@Exit Welp might as well keep going back forth since people here don't seem to like music. XP I sort of love most of her stuff. xP Kind of fills a certain void of artists that exist. Reminds me of Avril Lavinge despite not really being the same sound. Another song if you want to listen to it on your own time. :P

4.5/10 Ehh...I could of sworn I heard the chorus for 5 minutes. I was digging at first, but then it keep going...and going. :P

Best music video ever. (I enjoy the song too. :P)

7/10, alright song, I really like the video. The animation is top notch and it was really sad, didn't expect it to be. The song sounds, I don't know, kind of generic? Not really my cup of tea but the video is great.

7.5/10 There were a lot of subtle moments in the songs that I liked, it can't go much higher only because of taste. As I'm not that familiar with type o negative, though I know they existed. It actually didn't drag too much for being such a long song. This band is sort of like Lonely The Brave. Since the band could seem a bit boring at first for most, since their song's have a background/slower pace. But they get better with repeated listens. (I listened to this yesterday. But I had no music piece in mind to post afterward. xP)

(Pretty sure this guy has the some of the strongest vocals in pop punk that I'm aware of.)

@SleepingSilence 6.8/10
Not too bad, but I found nothing extrordinary about it. The vocals were good, drums, and everything else were decent, but I didn't find it to be something that "WOW'd" me. Lyrics-wise, it was above average, but still pretty basic for the genre. Sorry if you disagree, but that's just my opinion the song.

@Altered Tundra Heh. My only question is what's 10/10 in the pop punk genre for you? Or is it possible for such a genre to get that score? Lyrically, for me. Most pop punk doesn't tend to have very good/complicated lyrics. This band (his solo album)/the hotelier are about as good as lyrics get in this genre (at least that I'm aware of). And I'd really be interested for a better pop punk vocalist your aware of. x3 So another example would be lovely. (seriously good music is always desirable. :3)

7/10 I have a soft spot for stuff like this, it's a nice piece of music. Though I guess lyric wise it's rather average for a love song. And just to not be a hypocrite. Just in my opinion I'll show you what I'm looking for. (and my roommates because I wanted I second opinion. lol.) (still it's kind of hard to "prove") Stronger Vocalist/similar lyrical quality/enjoy it more overall for one example. :3

(Lyrics in description, two singers harmonizing/harsh vocals make it hard to grasp it all in one listen. :P)
(Also minor note, this album despite being 'their best' I could never fully enjoy it, it took a while to appreciate this song even. But now I love it. :3)

@SleepingSilence

I apologize if my comments offended you. I can clearly tell how passionate you are about the bands that you like. Your words are evidence enough. While I would be more than happy to link you to some examples, I'm not confident that it will sway you any. Music tastes is subjective. It's different for some, the same for others. The bands that I might consider 10/10 of the Pop-Punk genre, you might think of them as 5 or even a 1. With that being said, I do fancy such bands like Mayday Parade, All Time Low, and A Day to Remember. Yes, I know ADTR are dominantly post-hardcore, but they have said that they are pop-punk(I believe Jeremy McKinnon said that). As for which songs from each, I'll just list them as I am feeling lazy. :P

ATL
A Love Like War
Dear Maria, Count Me In

Mayday parade:
Any song on "A Lesson in Romantics"

ADTR
If it Means a Lot to You
End of Me

About the song you linked

I love me some Emery, and I found everything worked quite well with each other. 9/10

Reviving this thread. Good way to find new music.

@SleepingSilence

I'm not big into a lot of power metal. It sounds like Dragonforce to me. I do like the solo. I'd give it a 5/10.
