Heyo
...*raises mic* time for my random questions:

Okay so I get that characters can only be from one of two areas...so if a bastard has a father or mother from one of those two and a father or
Mother from a different location which bastard name would they have?
Example: father that is a gully and a mother that is a oak...which name would they take or the opposite situation?

I would like to have a bastard that is around the main families...so I'm thinking black smith....would that work?

And I'm guessing since I saw no mention of wargs that they are nonexistent here but no harm in asking right? Wargs yes no? If not that's fine it's mostly curiosity.

I understand where you're going with this, kind of like a Ramsey Bolton type situation, where they are part of the family but they aren't necessary part of the family. Let's do it this way- you will have the bastard name of Skye or Trout for the most part unless your backstory calls for it; ie: You've lived with your mother as an Oak for years upon years until recently where you've been placed into where you live now.

Does that seem fair?

Wargs- yes, sure. VERY VERY rare though. I will allow it for one person, within reason.

....okay makes sense. I was thinking a bit more like Jon snow with a twist but yea. I would give the main bastard name of sky or trout then.

With wargs then...what would be acceptable?
In my mind they would be very outcast with the oddity and I'd give them a small animal in this case. Like a fox or wolf dog.
Also...how do you think the bloodline would work? In the story the Starks and wildlings had the blood line for it which family would have it in this case?

Edit: also yes it does sound very fair
Just ironing out details

Keep in mind I'm still learning as I go here, haha- I'm here learning and taking from you guys as much as you guys are from me. Depending on which family you chose, we can definitely come up with something if you really want to make a warg type character; ie: If you choose from the Skype group we can go into mountain type/forest/ etc type creatures and with Trout well, any sea residing or sea side creature will be acceptable.

This game is all about character building, world building and story building all together, so the more we get to talking and helping one another the more we can really build up things and make it our own.

Alright ^.^

With his personality in mind, I'm going more sky. With that I think a good animal pairing would be a fox. Think it would be interesting to see a large guy with a smallish canine.

Asking questions helps me through a character idea...makes me really get into it.

I am working through the sheet now...on my phone...which makes this fun. (Not really..autocorrect is evil)

Because I'm a glutton for punishment and clearly not busy enough, I will work on a character for this RP as soon as I have the free time to do one justice. So probably early next week, Monday or Tuesday. I'm thinking of making a crippled Sky, possibly the son of someone noble but definitely falling into the natural philosopher (think Da Vinci and other early scientists) model.

I'll be playing a Lady of Hyland house. :) Preferably the oldest.

I'll work on the second daughter of Hyland- assuming these are large family's and no one has claimed her.

@MissCapnCrunchQuestion: Will we be using the same Gods as GOT or something similar?

I'll be looking to create a Gully/Trout. Maybe a second character, depending on how I feel.

Actually, is the leading role of the Hylands already taken? I was confused for a moment, I thought the Hylands were the ruling family but they are not. This makes my choice harder because I like both families. :/ I might just do both.

Never the less, would anyone like to contest my inquiry to the leading role of the Hylands?

Tybalt “of the Quell Sea” Gully

Ab ipsem Ferro, from the same Iron

Name:
Tybalt Gully, “of the Quell Sea”, a title given to him during his duration of stay in the capital. It's a common nickname, for the few knights that come from that area.
also Tybalt “Armor-born” locally, after his proficiency in combat
also Tybalt “Greyborn” within familial spheres, due to the grey color he had during his birth. Not a nice nickname.

Age:
35

Gender:
Male

Sexuality:
Heterosexual, unmarried

Origins:
The Quell sea region

Residence:
Currently lives at court in the capital of the Quell sea region

Brave Untactful Servitude Not the Smartest

Personality:
Tybalt may be one of the oldest in the family, but he is certainly not the most respected. True to the Quell sea archetype, this lack of respect towards Tybalt comes mostly from his typical Quell attitude. He is unwilling to cooperate in most cases, unless people are listening to what he is saying. Some would call him a real leader, others would call him arrogant. Regardless of which it is, he makes sure people are listening to him, and there is nothing that annoys him greater than people that ignore him.

Something that does set him apart from other typical Quell inhabitants is that he is relatively humble. He will most likely never boast about his achievements and strengths, mostly because he does not believe his achievements and strengths are better than that of others. For him, his achievements are merely in service to the Gully family as well as the people of the Quell sea. This creates a paradox for him. While he is unwilling to cooperate most of the time, he does wish to further the lives of his family and his people, but would never cooperate with them in order to do just that.

Another trait that Tybalt has, that perhaps is not home to many people within the Quell region, is that he's a servant at heart. He is not so ambitious to think himself king or lord, and his position in life doesn't exactly make him qualified for any of that. Rather, he just wishes to serve his patriarch, the lord of the Quell seas. His are always for the King, the kingdom of Lhivoria, for the Gully family, and the Quell people. These are where his loyalties lie -- and as such, he has become extremely loyal. Perhaps not always for the right reasons, but if he trusts you, it will be hard for him to betray you.

Furthermore his servitude paired with his bravery provide somewhat of a unique, if not deadly trait. He is brave enough to become semi-suicidal when it comes to completing his tasks, or his self-instilled 'goals' such as protecting the Gully family. If anyone were ever to come after the family and come even an inch close to his lord or his family, he'd throw himself in front of the danger and die, gladly, to protect those of the same blood.

Maybe the lack of respect towards Tybalt is deserved, but despite that, he's still willing to die for the cause of the Gully's.

Role & Career:
Knight of Lhivoria
Master at arms at the court of the Quell sea

Hobbies & Interests:
Martial studies
Swordplay
Traveling
Sailing
Random tasks

Likes & Dislikes:
Practical people
Chopping wood
Sailing
Honesty
(Winning) Tournaments

Diplomacy
Traitors
Cooperation
Idealists
Low-lives

Other:
De rien, mademoiselle.

Family Members:
So far it seems like his entire family has died.

Biography:
Tybalt is not related to the lord directly, being a cousin of his whose parents have sent him to the court of the lord to fulfill his familial duty and serve the lord. This has become somewhat of a sticking point for Tybalt - he realizes he will never get a proper title due to his position as being 'merely' a cousin to many of the princes.

He was born in a village on a remote island, ruled by his parents. While the village was relatively well off, they were far, far behind the rest of Lhivoria. And this contented the young Tybalt, for he wanted naught more in his life than a full belly and the comfort of his home. For 12 years he lived there in this village, sitting in a dark but comfortable hall at the top of a hill, looking over the village which sustained itself mostly with fishing.

From the age of 12, the local guard commander took over the teachings of young Tybalt, and taught him how to use a blade. The man was relatively good, but he was just a guard commander, and ultimately there was a limit to what he could teach young Tybalt. Ultimately the man told his parents Tybalt was done learning, after two years, and was fit to be a soldier. But Tybalt's parents were not satisfied, a soldier is merely a soldier, but a knight, that is much more.

They arranged for a boat to send him to the capital, and so he traveled to the capital with an escort of four young guards, whom were all equally terrified of what might happen on the road. Lhivoria was not as safe as it sounded, at times, and traveling with a young nobleman, barely old enough to crack his voice, was definitely unsafe. However they arrived in the capital safely, after which Tybalt continued his lessons with a veteran knight. He squired for the man for nearly two more years, and learned a great many things.

As he became 16, he became a man and was no longer a boy. In turn, he was done being a squire, and the knight ended his service to him by 'cutting the ties'. They were now no longer knight and squire, they were now two individual men, with equal standing. Due to his position as a nobleman, Tybalt was called to the court of the king and was knighted by the king, officially making him a knight of Lhivoria as so many princes and noblemen were.

But Tybalt was not just a nobleman. He was a 2nd rate cousin to a lord that was considered an 'outcast' even in the kings courtship. He was treated like one of the lowest knights, and for the duration of his stay in the capital, he was sent off on errant tasks that were 'dirty jobs' such as collecting taxes, or dealing with banditry and pirates. During a few of the small scale skirmishes between lords, Tybalt fought as well, earning him some real combat experience.

Fast forward five years, and he was now 23, and already a hardened veteran of some of the most important battles of Lhivoria. Surely, they were not on a global scale, but Tybalt had seen the gruesome effects war could have on soldiers, but also on peasants. He felt ill for them, knowing that he'd caused part of the damages. He vowed to make sure the inhabitants of the Quell region would never face such injustices for as long as Tybalt lived. His own personal quest became to protect the borders of the Quell sea, becoming it's own champion without as much as a word from the Lord.

After two more years, Tybalt was released from his duties to the king, for now, and was sent back to the Quell sea region. He rode there alone and arrived safely, not dealing with any bandits or anything of the sorts. They knew better than to mess with Tybalt, who rode clad in armor, with a thick steel bastard sword on his belt, swaying eerily to the side and back.

He arrived at the docks, and took a boat back to the capital of the Quell region, where he arrived at midnight, under the guise of the night. He had donned his cloak, and entered the hall, walking up to the lord and taking a deep knee.

“My good lord,” he spoke to him, before raising his hands and lowering the hood over his head. “Tybalt of the Quell Sea is here to serve you.”

Being accepted back into service of the good lord Gully, Tybalt spent the next ten years serving the lord, protecting his family and eventually took seat as the Master at Arms, placing him in a position of military advisorship among a council of other master-at-arms.

Any feedback, comments, or just.. anything is appreciated. I've never really used these gif-CS buildups and frankly I did not enjoy it but for the purpose of the RP I will comply, so I want to know if I did it right.

@MissCapnCrunch please take a look.

I'd love to take an older trueborn Hyland and a Gully bastard boy. I don't think I can handle too many at a time, so is there the option to add characters later on in the story?
Also, religion?

@hayley

According to what was discussed in the int check, religion is divine rule. There's a God (of non specific sorts, but I am guessing something akin to Christianity) who blesses kings/rulers with divine rule, aka if you're a ruler then God has blessed you and given you the right to rule.

Like so.

@Buddha Yep I understand the divine right of kings already just thought it might be fun making a religion or two opposing religions or something, obviously with the divine rule being a common denominator.

@hayley Having created religions before...

it's a lotta work for something that a lot of people (generally) do not really use. GoT has like three religions or so, but only 1 is extensively mentioned (The old gods). Besides that I've not really heard any good mention of them. It seems unlikely that people will use a big religion in the RP. But it's up to @MissCapnCrunch ofcourse.

I know it's mentioned in on of the family sections that most follow the divine God while one worship the oak trees. I agree with you some religious tension would be fun. I'm hoping we go with some; much like a Christian and pagan dynamic maybe?
