So yeah, I exist again...(kind of.) In celebration of one of few wholesome threads on the off-topic discussion, maybe I'll post a song or two on here. Because music is nice.

@Altered Tundra 8/10 Unfortunately it's a song I'm already familiar with, but I do like it a lot. Though I haven't listened to any of their other work, maybe if you have another song you like from them, you can toss it my way. (I do think the studio version is better than the live one.)

Here's a band that's been around for over a decade (that I really only know from Tony Hawk soundtracks) but the fact that they can still make decent music, that's something I can appreciate.

@SleepingSilence - All My Yes/10. One of the first concerts I went to was a Less Than Jake gig (at my old university, eeek), and I think Teen Idols were one of the supporting bands, and it was great. All My Friends Are Metalheads is one of my favourite songs to bake to, even if it makes me feel rather old to remember that it came out in 1998. Bloody hell.

@TheMadAsshatter 7/10 Might be slightly based on being entertained vs actual desire to listen to that ever again. That really makes me want to listen Psychostick. If you're not aware of that band, you should give them a listen. :P

To go on a mild music related tangent, I know a lot of people told me that this year was the best for hip hop and rap. And damn I couldn't disagree more, almost every rappers (I enjoy) newest album the past couple years, have been pretty disappointing. And nothing new really impressed me either. I think I maybe liked two rap albums last year. Got a new album that wasn't too bad. (which I was happy about.) And my favorite rapper coming out with something this year, really hope it's better than his last one. Hoping for better music in general in 2017.

But tangent over, here's a decent, albeit short rap song.

Not a fan of hip hop or rap, but that was actually worth the listen. The instrumentals were a nice departure from the typical rap style, and I like the direction the artist went in that regard, and the lyrics were alright as well. 6.5/10

Now let's take this in the weeb direction.

I wondered whether or not it'd be so good without the visuals of the video, and after finding myself listening to it a couple of times (and then a few times more), I guess the answer is yes. It'd be a seven out of ten, but I found myself bopping my head along to the beat, and the sing-song lyrics with the fairly aggressive beat is something of a guilty pleasure, so it goes up to 8/10.

Continuing the weeb trend, and the low ratings I get from music I like...

Three minutes and fifty-six seconds of "What the actual fuck am I watching?"
Didn't really jive with me until about 2:14. Lost me again after around 2:50. Really enjoyed those thirty-six seconds though!
But to be fair, I don't really listen to this kind of music. Also, I don't speak the language...or even vaguely understand it. Sooo...maybe I'm not exactly the target audience here.

Rating: 36/236

Bonus points for Quina avatar. S/he is bae.

Well, it just came up on Pandora, so why not?

Who are these people that would say such a thing? Streetlight Manifesto's snazzy trumpet solos are wonderful. Plus, the lead vocalist for Streetlight Manifesto was in Catch 22, and... yeah. Overall, a great track, improved by the snazzy trumpets. 8/10.

@Ogobrogo (Oddly enough I thought I posted something already, but I did listen to it so rating it anyway. Also 8/10. Planning on listening to their album later, could always use more ska music. Their acoustic version I'd give a 6/10.)

3/10 This is something I'm surprised my older brother hasn't show me yet...can't say I'm a fan of that. Might of actually rated it higher without the vocalist, but I have a feeling that was the point of song.

Here's something depressing instead. :D

@SleepingSilence 6/10, it's okay. Kind of generic, but catchy. Also really sad, I feel like if I got drunk and listened to it I'd be bawling my eyes out.

Now for something totally different.

@Heat Yay, someone actually listens to metal. 7/10 Good, main riff was nice.

Let's see if I can get anyone to like, this weird SOB. Breakcore/Experimental (aka random as fuck) Death Metal. ;D

@SleepingSilence That was interesting. Definitely outside of the norm, but surprisingly well put-together. Literally my only complaint was the discordant violin chord that closed the song in the last two seconds. It sounded unnecessary and out of place in an otherwise generally melodic piece. Even though the climax was a bit more violent than the rest of the song, it was still musically pleasing and stuck to the overarching melody. Overall, I don't feel compelled to delve further into the genre nor the band, but I did thoroughly enjoy the song for what it was worth. 7/10.

Fair warning, this is a long one, but you can opt to stop at 14:30. It's four songs, but only the first three are really related, and only by listening to all three can they be fully appreciated. I also don't doubt that several people are already familiar with the band, but for anyone who isn't, please enjoy.

I'm more of a Wish You Were Here person than a Dark Side Of The Moon person. But, having said that, it'd been so long since I'd listened to the first half of it, and re-listening to it, it's bloody marvellous. I was loathed to be the one to comment on this track, because it might mean people will skip it over and not listen to it. So if you're skimming over this 9/10 rating to click on whatever awful thing I'm going to end up posting, do yourself a favour, scroll up a post to @TheMadAsshatter's one and listen to that instead. Nobody's going to judge you harshly for it, least of all me.

@TheMadAsshatter Heh, well this is a guy who puts sounds of a chicken in one of his songs. So, out of place sounds, is kind of this guy's thing. This album is quite an experience on it's the first listen. I'm already sort of familiar with Pink Floyd's music. (Which is why I waited.) Wish you we're here, is also my favorite work from them.

@Hylozoist 8/10 I thoroughly enjoyed that song.

Not sure how to follow that up. I suppose I'll go for a dance pop song as well. But I think the music video itself is well made. (and good music videos are hard to come by at times.)

@SleepingSilence 4/10, I'm not really a k-pop guy. Not really a pop guy in general, but the song's a bit catchy. The video's pretty cool, if a bit odd.

@Heat The instrumentals were perfect and on point. That said, they were neither daring nor original. The song lyrics were forgettable as well as the vocals. It seemed that the whole song was playing it safe, which is a bad move in the world of art.

The music video itself was very low budget. The premise itself wasn't original either. If you're one of the biggest "metal" bands in the world, and you're doing a music video with an unoriginal concept, then why not spend a little more money so you'll look like you give a damn? It seems that metallicas best days are behind it.

At the very least I didn't cringe. I was just bored. The instrumentals were perfect though. Don't take it personally.

4.5/10 I think the most enjoyable aspect of that was watching someone get punched in the face 30-40 times. :P

@SleepingSilence This reminds me of the kind of music I was crazy about during my more troubled years. I like the unexpected elements within that make it seem both familiar yet new. A song from an established genre that dares to tweak the formula and throw in some crazy shit! Plus the instrumentals were on point!
