Given the mind-set of some people I was under the impression that there'd be a scramble for areas where they can claim the best possible conditions and then try to recreate Rome. The regions like that one sort of exist for that purpose.

The introduction of the Azu to my region, in addition to the Uraka Federation, raises a lot of really interesting questions.

In general, how do the Azu feel about their neighbors? They've probably had some pretty serious conflicts in the past with the bear-folk, and I imagine that while the Old Way is as disdained as any other religion by the jaguars, it's perhaps not as hated as some. How do they feel about the Path of Enlightenment, a religion that espouses the existence and power of deities? I'm certain that they despise the government of the Dominion more than most.

With the addition of the crazy martial artists on the peninsula, Region 5 is starting to get pretty intense.

Probably apathetic to mildly concerned. They don't take too kindly to outlanders of course, as most of them usually possess qualities and intentions that do not sit well with the greater azu masses. The Path of Enlightenment will be rejected in full, as it seems to confine individuals into two specific divisions based on their life experience and deeds (the divisions being 'good' and the other 'evil', as a good and pure life aids the Otherworld while a wretched and impure life harms it).

For the azu, this may translate to a religion that bases its operation on petty mortality, with their culture overall putting such matters of right and wrong on the back-burner in favor of a more violent and expansive 'might makes right' mentality. To worsen the opinion of this particular faith, the idea that a person's deeds are being judged by some all-encompassing metaphysical force will probably rub them the wrong way.

To be fair, if the existence of the PoE's spirits and gods can be physically proven and shown before the eyes of the azu population, their opinion may change (if ever so slightly).

The Old Way seems to be focused more on the individual rather than a divine being. This religion, down to its core, is still grounded in spirituality, and will probably be viewed with wariness by the azu species. It may be tolerated at most (so long as it is kept distant from the azu warbands), but definitely not adopted.

The Uraka Federation has only gotten over a serious isolationist xenophobia in the last few generations, so bad blood is likely to exist with most immediate neighbors who don't follow the Old Way. However, they haven't had many dealings outside of their area as they haven't explored much. There might have been other impressions made by fringe tribes of Kharis either in the mountains or outside of the federation in general, but those societies are much smaller and disconnected.

The reaction of the Azu to the Uraka could be at either two ends of extremes: One being burning hate as their societies and philosophy are structured with completely opposite ideas. The other end being some kind of cordial wariness between one another, as the Uraka would not likely come forward to indoctrinate or proselytise them, which seems to be their main gripe.

I guess it depends on whether or not the two have had suitable contact with one another in the past.

Country Name: Adrathielish Empire
Government type: A mix of geniocracy and meritocracy. A medieval parliament choose who they think have contributed and have the wisdom and ability to take a position in the government(such as infantry leaders and rulers below the king(such as lords)). The medieval parliament also decides on what and who to support(whether financially or with resources). Examples include assisting philosophers, inventors, engineers, structures to be built, and etc.

Location:


Capital City: Troenna. It is located in the middle of the country, yet it is a little more edged towards the east, due to the coasts being located there. The city of Troenna is definitely more populated, recreational structures and more buildings with important purposes(such as the royal residence).

The city features a small arena(yet it is the only one they currently have), named the Khar'sm. It's basically is a circular enclosing, dug a bit into the ground, so that some of the dirt would also act as walls. Yet, the walls are also raised up above the ground. Outside the walls are three rows of seats which rise up slowly, surrounding the arena in a circular fashion as well. There are also a few seats raised up higher with a better view, reserved for noblemen(honourable citizens), relatively large property owners, rich traders, government officials and etc. The arena is mostly used for pitting animals to fight each other, such as lions and tigers. Many trainers are challenged, as they have to make sure the animals they are currently training must be fit and ready to maul at the other animals.

One of the most useful inventions they had so far was a small aqueduct system. To maximise the efficiency of farms, industrial structures(such as mines), and for easier access of water in cities, aqueducts were built to transport water around the country. It mostly took around twenty years for the entire system of aqueducts to be fully built and finished, but even then, regular maintenance also had to be done, such as clearing the conduits of debris, repairing accidental breaches and performing inspections from time to time.

Language : Old Norse, it is definitely much more different though than our version though, with changes to the language words, complex grammar structures and more.
Species: Humans. However, other species of people that have been found or ventured into their territory from other areas/countries that are stereotypically thought to be hostile, are kept as prisoners and slaves mostly, unless they are traders. Other species are rarely found in the country to actually have normal living standards that humans have, as they are usually treated very badly.
Army: 3% of the entire population has been trained in the military, yet the law states that people close to the shore should at least keep a knife or blade in their homes, in case of a sudden attack which would leave no time for the military to assist civilians to retreat.

History:
The Adrathielish Empire, or Adrathiel, has been sitting here in this position for a very long time. Two hundred years ago however, it was had nothing but fertile land and a ramshackle group of farmers. These farmers had wandered from an area, the mountainous badlands of the Western Hill Region. While there weren't that many badlands which had hills and such, their past settlement was definitely built on one. Their village, it's name recorded to be 'Alarean', had been abandoned, as the villagers could no longer tolerate the freezing cold conditions of the hills, not to mention the already tough conditions of planting crops in such harsh temperatures. So they had packed up, and had left the houses to ruin.

They were led by a leader, known by most as King Loawqen. Many details are still fuzzy about his real name though, as the records indicate that he has been referred to by many different names, so what he was called is quite the controversial topic. Yet, he is still remembered as one of the greatest men in the entire known history of Adrathiel. He been a farmer and a skilled hunter as well, mostly to hunt animals at times. One of the most interesting facts was also that he was capable of reading and writing. While this isn't seen as very amazing by the people of Adrathiel anymore, at the time of the village, only so little people actually knew how to read and write.

According to numerous writings and diaries, he had led the villagers through extremely tough times as they wearily traveled towards the north, taking no rest at all in real shelter. The blizzards of the winter, the lack of food, the loss of lives, he had done his best to dull the effects of these events. He was definitely increasing the morale of the group, and against all the odds, had persevered and reached the Delta of the West.

Upon reaching the rich agricultural region, King Loawqen immediately knew that this was the place where they would construct their new settlement. He ordered for the people to settle down, not that they were about to complain. After that long journey, they definitely deserved some rest. The villagers had begun constructing their new home, laying down the foundations of what would be one of the busiest areas of this new found country for years to come. Troenna. The future capital city.

Years passed, and the town was slowly expanding, getting larger and larger. Farms were mostly built outside the city, being closer to the large flowing river that this place had to offer. Growing crops stretched as far as the eye could see at times. The population was increasing slowly, but steadily. King Loawqen eventually got married, having two sons, named Paosmel and Vausme.

Troenna was slowly advancing and progressing over time, more farms and houses being built. Mines themselves were already installed, extracting ore such as iron from the Earth. This was the beginning of Adrathiel. The aqueducts were in the process of being built, using an idea from a group of architects and engineers of which Loawqen himself and the parliament had supported continuously. However, all good things came to an end. The king had unexpectedly fallen ill after twenty years of leading and bettering the city, getting a fatal disease and dying from it after a few weeks.

The city mourned heavily, children crying and adults grieving with sadness. However, Loawqen had done his best to make sure Troenna could do without him. He had installed a parliament, consisting of a group of people who would vote on things, make important decisions, and ultimately choose who would be the next king. A list of heirs had been made, showing who would be the best of people to go up to take the throne. Unfortunately, the heirs themselves were to saddened and shocked by the death that they simply couldn't bring themselves to become the next ruler.

Vausme, being the elder brother of the family left behind by Loawqen, was then immediately put in the throne. The people were so blinded with sorrow and grief that they didn't bother to even think about the dire consequences of putting an inexperienced person in charge. Things were then falling apart by then. Bad decisions by King Vausme caused the downfall of Troenna. Not enough farms were being built, mines were getting dry but no one bothered to construct new ones, the aqueduct was deemed unworthy and the project came to a halt and more. The ever-growing amount of people combined with a lack of jobs led to riots. King Vausme however, completely dumbfounded, immediately ordered soldiers to attack the angry mob without thinking.

Years passed, and things were getting worse. The people were poor and starved. Protestors were growing in large groups, such as the infamous Riuolm group, who continuously set fire and arson to buildings and farms, which made things even worse. Massacres caused by soldiers murdering the people protesting in cold blood led to even more anger from the people. The parliament could do nothing, as ultimately, the final and most important decisions were up to the king.

Eventually, Vausme had been assassinated, the councilmen themselves had plotted for the ruler to be murdered. Paosmel, now much older, had been put in place to rule, as in the current state, all the rioters had been deemed too dangerous to be put in charge. He immediately turned to set things right again, as he had already witnessed his brother's mistakes and what happens if he ended up following in his footsteps. More farms were built, yet some were also burned down by the Riuolm. Mines and houses were now constructing at a high speed as well, hoping to make the population less poor again.

Overtime, finally after fifty years since Troenna had been built, the country had recovered and definitely gone a long way ahead. The catastrophe which would ultimately end in everyone getting a name on a grave was avoided. King Paosmel was continuously improving the area. The village from a long time ago had expanded a lot, the large amount of farms, houses, mines and more were settling in. The aqueduct was also completed, finally finishing what had actually been started by Loawqen himself in the past. Training camps and education systems were dropping in place as well. A part of the population were taught how to fight and attack. Studying and tutors were also getting more common, hopefully to increase the overall knowledge that the people have.

During the next century, many things had changed. Docks had been built to explore and travel out further, some to even attempt to find exotic spices and strange food for the rich. More elegant churches were also built, mostly for the use of the public and also as homes for the small amount of people found who were interested in magic, who eventually themselves became monks. More effective weapons and tough armour has been created, using multiple alloys that have been found in the Earth. The country had finally been named Adrathiel, which actually meant 'prosperous' in the language they spoke.

What happens next though? No empire lasts forever. One day, the entire city of Adrathiel might fall to a disaster even worse than the last one. Or maybe they will continue to expand their territory. Who knows? Only the future will tell what happens next...

Religion: They believe in praying towards the elements and believe that there are also gods for them. Elements that are essential for life, such as water and earth are ones that people Adrathiel usually go for. There are other elements, but people pray less towards them.

In my upcoming post, trade envoys will be sent to each of the northern nations (Romeq-Intik, Saviana, Graeg and Veden) and Ordov. Feel free to respond to their presence or ignore them entirely. Just wondering who wouldn't mind me personally showing the perspective of one of these envoys in one of your nations. Might make for some fun interaction :)

You should expect the envoys to maybe take a few posts to reach their destination though. Would be weird if you sent them in one post, and got a response by the time you make your next.
