@Pathfinder Chromite wore armor. Bloodstone at one point wore armor. Jasper as a helmet. So they can wear armor, most just choose not to because it limits mobility.

Well Jaspers helmet isn't so much her going, "I'm going to wear armor." as much as it's her weapon. I dunno, armor is just such an important part of human combat that it kinda baffles me that no one else would wear it.

I know my gem doesn't wear armor as portals are kind of armor enough. Plus it wont carry with her if she blinks while her robes do.

Also Peridot kinda wore armor, didn't she? That robot suit she was in and all that.

@PathfinderI put it down to rule of cool myself, plus armor doesn't fitthe aesthetic we have in mind for homeworld, or Gemsin general. "What do these super beings need armor for, they have the powers of gods!" kinda thing

Q, how would gem weapons fare against something made out of titanium? That stuff is notoriously extremely difficult to dent or break and is also super heavy, but that latter bit Gems can kinda shrug off.

Heck Titanium can kinda take plasma shots pretty well.

Just throwing my two cents in;

Gems probably don't wear armor because its innefective. Sure, Bismuth forged a whole new weapon for rose, some upgrades for the gems, but I don't remember seeing any armor in her forge, or in Rose's armory. If what we've seen of their strength from Jasper is any indication, warrior gems hit hard, with weapons that don't seem to be able to break from striking hard surfaces at full force, again as we've seen in the show. If the weapon isn't going to snap when it comes into contact with armor with that much force, it's probably going to go through the armor.

So I'm giving Carmen a supped up version of this to use in 'Dangerous Situations'. Low-power option that's meant to be used on people as a deterrent, at the power shown in the video, and then a full-power mode meant for bigger threats that's capable of doing serious harm/damage to fleshies.

@BrassOtter Welp. I believe that if you can explain a character's ownership of a weapon then I can't deny the weapon. Where does Carmen get the supplies for these inventions?

@Kronshi The copper for the coils is Pretty cheap, The 12 volt battery the guy had is pretty cheap. That video is also six years old, so I imagine stronger batteries come in smaller packages, especially in a universe with gem-tech and their power crystals, advances in chemistry as a result of studying compounds found from gem items, etc.If not, Carmen would have no problem making his a bit bigger to compensate for the increased power consumption. Everything else is easily obtainable online, through the college, or maybe with some help with Reggie and his father.

As for reasoning; He regularly delivers illicit packages for a number of shady individuals. I'd imagine having a weapon would be handy, if just to keep anyone from getting any ideas.
