@Blight Bug: I think the biggest reason is that it's last man standing rather than highest W/L ratio. The former incentivizes you to wait for the crowd to thin before picking out the stragglers. The latter makes you wanna rack up wins ASAP or die trying.

Yeah, I don't think holing up is such a good strategy. Reverse guy in Zexal tried staking out the competition during the Heartland tournament, then didn't come out until the end where there were only the strong opponents left. Then he got DQ'd for cheating because he tried to con people out of their heart pieces.

You actually got it wrong there. I wrote that when one holder of a Solar Legacy summons their Solar Legacy, if their opponent has one and they an summon it, they will summon the card as soon as possible regardless of if it will be the right play or not.
