@SaintRice You know, just realized how bad this might seem looking from outside. A big, beefy dude pinning down a girl by sitting on her, eh?

Quick question- they've all seen Grey fight before, so they know that she sets up her shadows to fight for her, and then rests until she has enough energy to actively contribute. So they've seen her do this a number of times before. I don't understand why they'd be pissed off that she fought the exact same way she normally fights... So why were they so offended?

@aviendha Well I don't think most people are mad honestly, it's Kaito who has a problem with what happened. Plus, I'll also argue that it wasn't like he could calmly analyze the situation and realize Grey wasn't giving up the fight even though she was sleeping. Just imagine yourself in his shoes, you're in the middle of a heated duel, definitely giving it your all, to then turn around to see your opponent laying around like she doesn't care. That's probably why he's real pissed off.

@Damiann47 Again, she wasn't sleeping. She doesn't need her eyes to see, she sees better through the shadows. And he knows this. So again, it makes no sense.

@aviendha Its how Kaito and everyone else ended up perceiving what happened, doesn't quite matter what the truth really is. I also don't know what you mean "it makes no sense" sure, everyone might know Grey's power is through shadows I can agree to that, but its the act itself that's the problem. The way I see it, people look at what she did as disrespectful and a disappointing end to the fight.

@Damiann47 She wasn't disrespectful, though, she was just fighting the way she normally fights. Kaito needed to face 4 gigantic beasts she had summoned, and that had taken all of her energy. So she sat down to rest, and to observe through the shadows. She could do nothing else in the fight- attempting anything would have not only been really stupid, and against all of her abilities, but it would have been completely out of character and illogical, and would have ended the fight early.

In battle, she summons the shadows, she uses them, and if she overextends herself, she pauses, to rest, so that she doesn't faint and make all of her hard work disappear. He knows this. She doesn't personally fight in like 90% of her battles- most of the time, it's just the shadows fighting for her. So this makes absolutely no sense. Did no one read the character sheets?

@aviendha Grey may have had good intentions, but again as I said that's how it was perceived. Also I believe a problem here might be how we didn't quite establish how much the Guild members know about each other. Yes, I think its safe to say that everyone knows Gray fights with shadows, and even how that's the bulk of her fighting power. The thing is that doesn't mean everyone knows absolutely everything either, that they don't know the specifics unless they've been told as much. Grey doesn't interact much with the other members either, right?

The thing is Kaito isn't your character, you don't know what he knows, you don't know how he thinks. Hell, even if he knew every little detail about Grey's power, and knew exactly why she decided to rest, that doesn't mean it still wouldn't have been seen as disrespectful. By the same token I can't say he would have still reacted like he did, maybe if he had this knowledge he would've continued the fight. The only person here who can answer that question is Torack.

@Damiann47 Both he and Grey have established that they've been a part of the Guild for some time now. And everything on the character sheets is known by everyone in the Guild, hence why we know it out of character, right? That's how character sheets in these sorts of RP's function. She doesn't interact much, true, but she made sure that everyone in the Guild knew how she fights, so they won't disrupt her in combat. If they had no idea of her process and habits, they'd fuck up the fight, and render her useless in battle. Obviously. They don't know anything about her childhood, but they know every aspect of her combat abilities.

This second paragraph of yours makes absolutely no sense, whatsoever. And my pinkies hurt, so I'm going to quit typing for a while.

@aviendha Alright fine, everyone is just wrong in how they reacted to Grey, and she actually did nothing wrong either because that's how she normally fights, right? What did you want to hear anyway? You asked why characters were "pissed" about what Grey did, and I answered that. Rather why didn't you ask this earlier if you thought there actually was a problem, we're way past that part now.

You are assuming too much about what each Guild Member knows about the others. You keep saying over and over again "And he knows this" "And they know that" and all those kinds of things. You have said on a few occasions that Grey is a recluse, often sleeping during the day and staying up at night only changing her schedule to take on missions. It wasn't really ever specified how much she interacted with people and the general impression I got of her was someone who is very mysterious to most guild members, both in personality and in her combat abilities. On top of this, I mentioned both OOC and IC that this was a tournament not just to bide time while we waited on our last member to join, but to make the characters ICly more familiar with each other.

You also keep talking about the character sheets. The character sheets have absolutely no impact on other people's IC responses when it comes to fighting style. We do not look at the character sheet OOC and say "This is the information my character knows IC".

If this was an issue aviendah and was not the proper way Kaito should have responded because of the knowledge you believe he has IC, then YOU should have spoken up here, or PMd him, said something to him, so it could have been corrected.

As it stands, you didn't bring it up OOC as an issue until 11 days after the fact, almost 2 weeks later.

Though I've not seen Torack around, and his last response is 9 days ago, last online is 7 days ago. I might have missed a post about him not being available for a while but if he didn't say anything this is leaning into the sort of "If you need to take a hiatus for some reason let us know, don't just disappear on us" deal.

As far as you posting on your statuses things like this:

it's always funny when people don't read and then try to blame me for their own idiocy. fucking hilarious.

wonder what the average iq on this site is

I'm going to go ahead and say feel free to drop from the RP, say whatever nasty angry things you want. This mistake is on you for not clarifying it to people when it was an issue and if you're going to go as far as to start raging in your statuses, I'm now asking you to leave.

I have to agree with the others. If there was a problem there was absolutely no reason to respond to it IC as if it was fine, and hen wait almost two weeks to bring it up as an issue and start insulting people's IQ and all that crap over it because you didn't act like an adult and bring up your issue as a healthy discussion.

@Shandria@Bell@Damiann47 Because I have been trying to minimize how much I type since I've been having issues with my fingers, and figured the GM would resolve the issues IC, not exacerbate and dramatize them.

And those statuses:
it's always funny when people don't read and then try to blame me for their own idiocy. fucking hilarious. <- referred to the fact that my student's parent neglected to read her contract, didn't realize she had to pay for the accompanist, is now out $500 plus late fees, and the studio is blaming me.
wonder what the average iq on this site is <- a friend is leaving the site because people are harassing them, so I was miffed about that. still am.

Not everything is about you.

It's not my job nor my character's to take care of OOC misunderstandings. There would have been a lot less typing if you hd just brought up the issue in the first place and had it resolved. I don't see how going straight to a full IC post is minimizing how much you type.

And you have to understand how it looks, considering that first status came immediately after you finished talking to Damian and everything you said can be directly related to the conversation you were having with him. The second status came shortly after my first post on the matter.

The point still stands, this is all on you. Regardless of hand pain you were clearly capable of writing because you made an IC post. So you had the ability to instead make a smaller post and have a steady, mature conversation about it instead. Bringing it up 11 days after the fact has solved nothing, and likely isn't going to solve anything anytime soon.

Welcome to advanced RP. If another character is supposed to have a certain level of knowledge about your character, you need to make that clear in your writing.

That all being said thinking back there is some issues I do have with the fight, such as how from the start Kaito was taking note of the shadows and all this stuff, so he at first was displaying an understanding of her combat style.

It's something you would have to discuss with him if he ever returns, not start arguments in the OOC about it.

@Bell You all got mad at me last time I went a long time without responding, didn't want that to happen again. Yes, I am capable of writing. But I only wrote necessary IC posts, OOC posts in the RP I'm GMing, and dictated PMs through my phone for the past week and a bit, given the state of my hands. I didn't write extraneous things, obviously, for obvious reasons. I posted in IC out of obligation, waited in OOC until I got the splints for my fingers. My priority was letting you guys continue with the story, all the while hoping that there would be some hint of consistency in the writing. Once it became clear (after three mentions of Grey's 'apparent laziness') that y'all weren't going to pay attention to the logic of her actions, I posted here.

Welcome to advanced RP, where people are supposed to use logic and common sense. Welcome to advanced RP, where I am allowed to hope that a GM will notice inconsistencies without my having to point it out both IC and OOC.

Now, if you don't mind, I really must keep icing my hands. The majority of this was dictated through my phone, so I apologize for any spelling or grammatical errors.

I think the general consensus is you are the one lacking logic here with your actions. You expect everyone to notice little details for you without you having to bring them up. It was honestly considered by everyone from what I can see, an IC misunderstanding. One would assume if that was the case, you would deal with it... IC. Not throw a fit over it OOC. Nothing but minor, difficult to spot details gave away it was an OOC issue not an IC one.

We are all here to enjoy writing and write a good story together, not to sit around picking apart each other's posts for them to try and find issues that need to be addressed. It's not the GM's job to pick your post apart looking for inconsistencies. She's here to enjoy the RP just as much as the rest of us.

You saying things like "where I am allowed to hope that a GM will notice inconsistencies without my having to point it out both IC and OOC."

That just makes it kinda sound like you are just upset because you didn't want to bring it up, and are now mad because other people didn't pick up on it without you bringing it up which is a dumb thing to be upset about since you very well could have just brought it up OOC.

My IC post:

Grey sat up, after exiting the ring, and looked up at Artura. Slightly more refreshed, though still quite tired, she yawned. Pulling the hood off of her head, Grey frowned, staring at the Guild leader. She spoke, her voice barely carrying loudly enough to be heard across the field.

"I could contribute nothing more, without endangering myself. He abandoned the fight. That is a great insult, to my honor."

Maintaining eye contact for a moment, Grey decided not to speak any more. Casting her gaze downwards, she began to walk. She raised a hand to her neck, massaging the knots out of it. Annoyed and frankly angered, Grey was legitimately confused, and the frustration was evident through her calm. Well aware of her limits, and of the dangers of overextending herself, she accepted the win by default, but did not revel in it. Almost gliding along the ground, her legs completely covered by her robe, she retreated from the field.

Once inside, Grey walked to her own quarters, where her cot was waiting. Too mad to sleep, she sat on her cot, crossing her legs, and staring at the blank wall. Her door was little more than a curtain, and it waved slightly in the air currents drifting through the room. She grabbed her Oud, and held it in her lap, deciding to practice for a little while. As far as she knew, everyone had gone to watch the fight; this would be a perfect time to rehearse a few songs. She closed her eyes, and quietly played, almost meditative in her practice.
