There's a massive difference between guiding a thread, and Random Events.

Yeah seriously, emphasis on this statement.

Just to put my two-cents out there, I don't particularly care if we have 'random events' or not but I'd rather we didn't.

Also, Hazmat, while I don't quite have every single thing down on my nation sheet, I think I at least have the necessary parts down. So could you see if it's accepted or not? Or tell me if there was a required section that I somehow managed to overlook.

True that yo. I once had a GM let a guy have gundam wing style mechs but would not let me put cannons on boats in a fantasy setting.

However, if I pop over to your forums, how many complications will I find?

I'm okay with or without random events, but having them seems to rub some people the wrong way, so it might be better to exclude them and hope we create enough natural interaction to keep the RP from dying (a difficult thing to achieve in an NRP, but it can be done).

Oh and I'm constantly working on my nation sheet, still ironing some things out, however.

If anyone is up for some relations/history I'd love to talk, just let me know.

Boerd, I can tell that now you're just being belligerent and fishing to start an argument. Stop it.

EDIT: And Alf, just ignore it. There's no reason to respond.

I agree absolutely with this, for what it is worth.

In my book it does. Because if you think the GM will fuck up his own game, then random event or no he. will. fuck. it. up. Want it or not being the GM gives someone a position of authority in his RP and what he says, goes.

The question was not rhetorical. Alf runs his own forum composed of many of the people in this thread. Where better to prove or disprove the theory?

Alright, so after reading over a bunch of pointless nonsense, I did manage to get some things out.

1. Random events are frowned upon by most of us, as they're typically handled poorly in many NRP's. I personally think a good way to solve this is simply by taking the whole "random" part out of it, and simply introduce a well-planned event that can/will catch our factions off-guard IC. Many good events can be planned out and implemented -- it's happened before, so it can therefore be repeated here.

2. Lots of drama. Please don't respond to the more snide comments in public. It only adds fuel to something none of us want to even see here. That's my #1 pet peeve in RPs, and I personally detest it. I'm here to weave a story far more than just play a game. If you don't like it...

3. About international currency, I would easily see the Ralgon Drachma being widely used -- people are free to make mentions of this in their thread. It's the equivalent to a troy ounce of gold -- more than what many commoners ever see. It's the standard currency for the wealthy and powerful. For the poorer/less powerful classes, fractional currency is often used. (I'll put in more stuff about it in my NS.)

4. Aside from what I've already discussed, what sort of interactions might my own faction see with the rest of yours? It'll be a good thing to note when I finally have my faction's international relations up.

Sorry about the slow response, family emergency. You know how it goes.

Obviously, if random events do happen (Note the if. I havent decided yet) they will have logic. You won't have floods in deserts or droughts in rainforests and the like.

And by Random Events, I mean small but important issues like "Tapira has had a poor harvest" or "Workers in Arakion have descovered a small deposit of sapphires", as well as the obvious "A scout has spotted a small group of marauders" and "High winds make the port at Niraph temporarily unusable"

I won't have anything that wrecks your nation. It's not the the Khangate will be lost to a massive flood, or the Dominion will be sacked by savages. Just little things that can help or harm you. I am considering leaving RE out considering the amount of people sayibg they'd rather not have them though. I have a feeling the IC will be up before it is decided...

Also, Haz, I am thinking of having Wildlings kidnapped and raised from birth to be the personfication of Suehan valkyries. Can they be raised in my semi-civilized society, as in, is it possible?

Yes, but that means that a Wildling Encampment needs to be in raiding distance. Also, Wildlings have a natural dislike of males - whilst the Valkyries certainly won't slaughter and enslave them like a normal Wildling, they will certainly show disdain and disrespect to them.

Hmm... Haz, is it possible that our relations are practically non-existent, but with our two nations having sighted each other's ships? My nation would be busy hunting pirates and raiders near the Naqah. This means that you'd be joining my list of nations to be contacted.

Also, I still can't wrap my head around how tiny the planet is. 7 days without sleep and rest to get from north to south?

Man... It would take years for traders to get from one end of the silk road to the other back in the day...

Yes, of course.

It's small for practical reasons. We don't want invites to parties and meetings, then have to spend months getting there.
The "7 day" thing is assuming the horse travels at 48km/h without stop or fluctuation in speed. 48 x 24 is 1152, which times by 7, mens we have a diameter of 8064 km. To put it into perspective, Earth has a diameter of 12,756 km. So it's not that much smaller.

Hmmm, I don't know if Ralgon and Qanaxma Dəniz would have actually made official diplomatic contact. But I do know that some Kişil goods would've probably made it over there and vice versa, and you would've at least heard of my people.

EDIT: And Hazmat, it's Khaganate not Khangate. XD

Soveriegn, I'm so sorry, but is it possible to come up with an alternate name? It's just my encoding turns some of your letters into boxes, so I don't know what to call you?
Even if you had an alias name that I can use and everyone else with the right encoding can use the real name, I'd be grateful.

Oh, sorry about that. Hmmm... I'll put a section in my NS that gives the terms in just regular old letters.

EDIT: Alright, it's up. So just look under the hider titled 'terms' to get the equivalents in regular letters.

Ah, Rare and I will have to work something out with "The Imperium," since it's right next to us. Xia Quan was previously part of Palmyong but it seceded about a century ago, and the two sides just grew tired of fighting and resolved to an uneasy standstill. Regarding the Imperium's proximity, there's a chance it had some kind of history with our nation(s) beforehand, although a militaristic Germanic super-empire scrambles our ideas of an East-Asia feel in that part of the world.

Actually, I am somewhat amenable to the situation practical considerations have put me in vis-a-vis the map. There is no line you can cross that before you do, they do nor care but after you do, they kill you. There is just an area that you are very likely to get killed in, with no sharp lines.
