Age: Looks to be around 19 or 20, actual age unknown.

Power: Water fruit. Her body is made of water, which she can use to attack with. She can also either increase or decrease her water's temperature, though not to the point of steam or ice. Even though her body is made of water she still can't swim. Meaning that using her ability in a closed-off space can be dangerous to herself as well.
Weapon(s): A 50 cm long steel pipe. She uses this pipe both to attack normally and to force water through.

Age: 26

Power: Bärgeist fruit. With the full transformation, Octavius is transformed in an absurdly large, and entirely black Tibetan mastiff, with the exact size being set at each transformation. The partial transformation functions very similarly to that of Alucard's familiar, Baskerville, though with fewer eyes and teeth.

Weapons: Winchester Model 1897 Trench Gun-style fowling piece with an English stock, chambered for 16 gauge shells, and a custom-built LeMat-style revolver chambered for .44 magnum and 16 gauge shells, as well as an overly large riverboat gambler bowie knife (http://www.tichbourneknives.com/webpage-ironwood_riverboat_NBL.jpg)

Actually...Ceres would be shaking his hand about right after he mentioned her not doing so. Something along the lines of her grabbing his arm to shake his hand, while saying "Fine, here, happy? We shook hands, now keep to our deal or I'll personally see to it that you're back behind bars before sundown you ungrateful bastard." So...this time your post was a bit too far ahead. >.>;;

she should have just shaken his hand. Then it would have been an investment, and not an act of charity. but I see what you're saying. Then again, I've never met a pirate captain who didn't need an attitude adjustment...

In her mind, shaking ones hand is an empty gesture. Actions, not words or symbolic gestures. That's what she believes in. So him being so adamant on a simple handshake puzzles her, to say the least. Also, this is not exactly the time for the captain to have attitude problems. ^^;;

And technically he did make a deal with her. He promised her gold, a ship, anything (before she demanded a ship) if she let him out in return. She let him out on those words. So the very next thing what she would be doing now in my post would be to pretty much tidal-wave the alley, throw them both out into the open, and try to rip his head off. >.>;;

Uh...you don't mess up all that often really. >.> But now we need to fix this or the rp will become kinda...difficult. ^^;; Heck, the idea was, as i said before we started, that the escape would be rather straight-forward. You know, just a thing to get the characters introduced to each other and get things going.

aight, I got it. marines storm the alley, because why not, and then octavius freaks out because his new friend is being loud, so then they run off again, and the continued escape results in a third opportunity for Ceres to save the captain's life, and then once they make it to their destination quietly she bitches him out until he admits that his life was saved, and agrees to honour his end of the deal they hadn't made because of that.

Okay, seriously...what's so important about a handshake? It's easy to betray you if a handshake is all it takes for you to trust them. >.> This isn't an IC thing, I'm truly puzzled. ^^;;

It's his thing, the handshake is the final frontier in deal making. if you can't trust a handshake, you can't trust the deal. at least for Octavius. he's a crazy pirate, but he's a man of his word, and he expects the same of others, within reason...

I figured as much. >.>;; Isn't there any way for him to compromise? You know, seeing how she -did- get him out and didn't try to kill him yet, instead helping with the escape... (well, most of the time.)

if she brings up the whole "I saved your life" thing, he'd be willing to shake hands on that and get them both away safely. if she just won't shake hands, he won't stop her from tagging along, but there will be serious trust issues. someone who won't shake hands clearly doesn't have a word that can be trusted, if only because they won't trust anyone long enough to shake their hand.

The problem is the words he said. >.> From her point of view it looks like this:

She saves a guy who promises her a ship to sail on if she frees him as well. She does so. Then halfway through the escape he suddenly runs off. She follows, angrily of course, and finds him again. She gives him one last chance to keep the promise he made (Call it a deal or promise, i don't care. He did promise.) but instead he uses this chance to clearly tell her he's backing out of his promise and betraying her. If Octavius was in her shoes he'd want to murder her too. >.> Not much a man of his word after all apparently.

I mean, these were his literal words: "I'll give you whatever the fuck you want. Anything! Don't you walk away from me, lass. I'll fucking kill you. I will. You can have anything you want, anything. Just get me out of here." No mention of a handshake or anything. Only a "just get me out of here." So yes, he really is going back on his promise. >.>
