(Also, here's the Interest Check page:http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/55182/posts/ooc)

You have been selected to attend one of the most prestigious magical schools in the world, the Crescent Academy. Founded thousands of years ago on the shores of Lake Crescent, the college has gained a reputation as stellar as the clear night skies which the academy lies under. Your presence here alone speaks volumes about your abilities, or at least, your potential. Success is by no means guaranteed, but the archmages saw something in you, a spark of genius, if you will. Your actions and choices will determine if their trust in you was justified.

Your connections and wealth mean nothing here. Rich and poor, male or female, highborn or low, forget about all of that. Do not mistake the academy for a democracy, though. It most certainly is not. Merit and skill determine one's place here, and distinctions will be drawn. You will be tested. You will be judged. You will be ranked. Some of you will be held up as models to follow, while others will be held behind. Unlike many schools, there are no grades, there are no graduation dates, there is no set course to follow. You will earn the title of mage when it is determined that you deserve it. For a few, it will be done in under a year For some, this will take a few years. For others, it may never happen at all. What is clear is that you all possess some degree of magical skill before you have set foot here. Until the day your teacher say so, you are an apprentice, and may expect to be treated as such. Your classes will be assigned according to your abilities, and your schedule is non-negotiable.

The Academy recognizes that there are many kinds of mages, and that what is right for one student may not be suitable for others. Not all come to magic in the same way, generally broken down as follows:

Wizard: You weren't born with magic, but you seek to learn it. All beings have the potential to master magic, but it will take years of intensive study. The upside is that you will know precisely what your spells are and how they work; you will not cast spells and say that it comes naturally. No, you will have earned every fireball you throw, every creature you conjure, every enchantment you make. For you, magic is a science, a mathematical equation, a finely-honed tool.

Sorcerer: Magic has been in your blood since the day you were conceived. It may even run in your family. Spell casting for you comes naturally, a sort of natural talent. It may be a gift or a curse, depending on what you make of it. The emphasis here is on controlling what you already have and developing a deeper and fuller intuitive understanding of your abilities. For you, magic is an art.

Warlock: Some things are better left unknown to us at the Academy. If you are a warlock, then you have made a deal with a powerful entity in exchange for power. As long as it doesn't threaten anyone's safety, we will not pry into the origins of your powers. The exact nature of your powers will vary greatly, depending on what deal is made. Your teachers will inquire into the extent of your abilities and their limitations, with any sensitive information kept in the strictest of confidences.

Druid: Nature itself has seen fit to grant you magical abilities. Most find druidic powers incomprehensible. Even most druids are at a loss to explain them. Your teachers will help you to unravel and develop your skills, even as the fullest extent of your powers may never be known.

As the Crescent Academy is well-funded by alumni donations, there is no tuition, no monetary expenses. Your books are provided by the school, but you are responsible for any damage done to school property. To accept enrollment in the academy, merely sign your name onto this parchment, and your name will be added to our student list. Classes start in the fall of this year, and attendance is mandatory. Directions will be provided, and a portal to the academy will be provided if no other means of transportation are possible. Good luck with your studies.

-- Archmagister Cadmus.

You can freeform a CS. I understand that every character is different, and some people will want to add more or less information. I'll add one a bit later.

Name – Bryce Belarron

Age – 19

Nickname - Gemini

Favorite Color – Black and Blue

Magic, type, style – Illusions and enchantments and ice

Favorite foods - Grilled fish when he actually remembers to eat that is

Favorite activities – People observation, studying

Motivations – His want to know more and learn all that can be learned of magic

Looks –

Short Bio – Bryce was born into a family of very prestigious wizards. The Belarrons were known well for their aid all over the world. Bryces father Jace was known for his interrogation skills and often times his heroics it was nothing for his father to conjure up several hundreds of illusions all feeling almost real.
Bryces mother Chandra Belarron was a psionic able to read a person’s mind implant memories and even sculpt their thought.
You would think being born into this family was an amazing thing but not if you’re born into a family of mages and you turn out to be the slightly normal child. That’s right Bryce was born with only one thing from his parents the ability to cast an illusion that would flicker and fade faster than anything one could imagine. However life was still easy for Bryce he rode his parent’s coat tails for a long time but as he grew older he realized he had a desire to learn of magic First of his own strengthening what he could do with his one illusion he worked so hard at it till he could cast it with a thought but had to remain within 600yds of it any further and it would flicker and fade. Bryces parents found out abou his training and were pleased he showed potential his father even showed him how to make the illusion speak he still has trouble with it though so his parents after a short debate came to the conclusion of sending him to school to better his ability and to learn more of his magic…

Looks good. Here's my CS.

Name: Asthia
Race: Dracon
Sex: Female
Height: 5'6 (5'9 with horns)
Weight: About 125 lbs
Age: 20

Clothing: Like all dracon females, she dressed in a loincloth and top, never using footwear (see below).

Background: Hailing from a noble family which fell from grace, Asthia grew up with rank, but not power or wealth. Her first big break in life came when her sorcerous powers started to manifest when she was 16 years old. At first, she had great difficultly controlling her abilities, but began to get a handle on them at about the same time her parents began looking for a magic school to send her to. After passing some initial tests, she was deemed to have great potential. As such, she was invited to attend the Crescent Academy.

Personality: Possessing equal parts playfulness and selfishness, Asthia can be fun to be around, though she tends to come off as impulsive and ambitious. She is eager to increase her personal power, and sees her education at the academy mostly as a means to that end. The draconess enjoys song, wine, and dance, and while she can be gracious to those she likes, she has little patience for those who bore or dissatisfy her. Her mood has been known to swing from happy to angry and back again, but this is more a function of her relative youth and the emotional strains of discovering her powers more than anything else.

Powers: While she is still discovering her abilities, Asthia has so far displayed a talent for evocation, conjuration, and enchantment spells.

Name: Lyren Silverwind
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Race: Water Elemental
Race Information: Elementals are mostly humanoid creatures who have perfect control over a single element. Elementals of different types have different traits that allow them to better use their elemental. Water Elementals have nearly invisible gills on the side of neck allowing them to breath underwater. These gills close up on land so that they can also breath above water. Elementals hair and eyes are the same color as the element they wield. Each element has a strength and a weakness and these carry into the bodies of the Elementals. A Water Elemental can resist fire attacks, but takes extra damage from lightning attacks. There is a substance called Celebeam that is deadly to Elementals. Celebeam is a metal like substance, it can be turned into powder or melted. In metal form just being near it will make Elementals weak or ill. In powder form it can be inhaled, depending on the amount it will either make them weak or ill, knock them out, or kill them outright. In liquid form it can be splashed on an Elemental to burn them, or injected to cause agony, or again kill outright. It has been used to torture Elementals in times of war, making them wary of other races. Another weakness, exclusive to the Water Elementals is that they get really weak and dizzy in hot weather, as everything is so dry.

Appearance:

Lyren has long dark blue hair and matching eyes. He's about 6 feet tall and has a thin, graceful build. He usually wears the outfit in the picture above. Along with a small, blue, crystal pendant on a silver chain that he wears around his neck. All of his clothing is made of a special material that is made to resist getting wet and dries quickly when it does. Like a hyrid between swimsuit material and a duck's feathers.

Personality: Lyren likes to stay on the quiet side and would prefer being alone to having company, especially company involving lots of people. Stubborn to a fault and a fighter to the core, you'll never see him give in without a fight. He's elegant and graceful in almost everything he does. He's observant and detail oriented, he'll noticed things that most people don't think to look at. He tends to make decisions based on his heart, not his head, making him a bit reckless. Despite his recklessness he's actually pretty smart, he just doesn't use his brain as much as he should. He's sneaky too, one minute he'll be this quiet, forgettable thing sitting next to you, and suddenly you're wallet, keys, cellphone, and pants are gone and you never noticed. Not that Lyren steals things, but he's just one of those people who you don't think to check when something does go missing. He's trustworthy and loyal, though does have some issues trusting other people. He's also very protective of those he cares about and would kill or be killed for them in a heartbeat.

Bio: Lyren is the son of one of the Elemental leaders, obviously the water one. As such he has gotten a lot more interaction with the other races than a lot of Elementals. Who are still recovering from the constant hatred and wars from the past. Elementals haven't been treated kindly in the past, but in the past one hundred years thing have gotten better. Lyren's natural affinity with water has made him want to be a mage. So he is being sent to Crescent Academy by his father. Not only because of his desire to be a mage, but to further increase the Elementals' relations with the other races. Though Lyren doesn't know that he is being used like that.

Powers: Lyren, being a Water Elemental has a natural affinity for water elemental magic. It can be used for many different things and Lyren can even change the temperature of the water if he concentrates enough. Though as soon as it becomes steam or ice, he loses control of it, then it belongs to Wind and Ice Elementals. His magic grows stronger if their is a natural source of water nearby, not like a sink or a bathtub and grows weaker when there isn't any. Being an Elemental, his body kind of does the same thing. Though he can function as long as their is moisture in the air, on really hot, dry days he can barely muster the strength to move.

Other: Being so close to the water, Lyren doesn't eat seafood. As it is nearly eating his own kind. Even just the smell or sight of cooked fish makes him ill.

Looks good. Now, only issue left is Cadmus. Since he's just a side character, you have a lot of leeway in making him. Only guidelines are that he's a dragon and that he is powerful as well in benevolent to the students.

Oh, and Cadmus was the name of the hero who slew a dragon while looking for a place to found the ancient Greek city of Thebes. A sacred grove to Cadmus was chosen by the philosopher Plato as the spot for his school, hence the term "Academy". Sounds like "Cadmus", right. That's where we get terms like "Academic" from. The name Cadmus itself is likely of Middle-Eastern (Lebanese?) origin, a possible reference to an alleged migration to Greece at some point.

You look like you will be a regular poster. Imagine if someone who has two characters disappears. It blows a much larger hole in the RP.

And Mystique looks good. At least she isn't blue, shape-shifting, and inexplicably good at martial arts and acrobatics. xD

Name: Nyame, Star Caller.
Race: Leonin
Gender: Male
Class: Wizard

Background: Nyame's people come from a plains nation out of the way of most of civilization. They are a nomadic race of humanoid lions, known for their ferocity in battle and cold attitude towards outsiders. They are both shepherds and hunters, and are known, magically, primarily for druidism. Though Druids make up most of their mages, they do have a smaller tradition of wizardry that is based upon power derived from celestial bodies. Nyame, whose family title Star Caller is an allusion to their astrology based magic, comes from this tradition.

The Leonin have only recently been approached by outsiders, hence their less than welcome attitude towards them, but the Crescent Academy sent an agent to invite some of their Mages to the school, in hopes of trading knowledge. The Star Callers debated the subject, and in the end their youngest, Nyame, was sent to the school to learn what he can.

Other: Though the Crescent Academy originally wanted to gain knowledge from the Star Callers, Nyame has thus far been rather tight lipped about the specifics of his magic. He is still learning the culture and even the written language that is common to other people. Though he's perfectly willing to demonstrate his skill, he doesn't trust most of the outsiders enough to share with them the technique behind it.

Star Caller's Staff: A staff that stands as tall as Nyame, and topped with a spherical crystal. Upon basic observation, the crystal looks to be full of small imperfections, though the surface itself is quite clear. The shaft of the staff is wood, and carved with astronomical signs and diagrams. It is the equivalent of a dictionary to him, and even a minor damage could erase the esoteric knowledge, and require weeks to years of intensive study of the sky to re-write.
Despite this, the shaft is mundane compared to the crystal. Though magic was used in the creation of the crystal, mathematics actually played a greater role, and the crystal is not inherently magical itself. What it is is a star map. The miniscule "flaws" one can see on the inside of the transparent crystal are actually quite intentional features. When one stands on flat ground, on a clear day, it can show one the exact position of stars at that time of day. It takes some knowledge to utilize properly, as it has to be rotated to face the sun at exactly the right side, to account for the exact day of the year.
Even when not in use, the crystal atop the staff is always casting images of constellations and other celestial bodies as light passes through it.
