@OneEyedChurro The issue is that neither of us have good ships and a land route, while certainly feasible, would probably be so long that any perishable items would be gone. Still, I guess grains and the like would be fine. Looking through your rolls, you have flax and linen though. That would certainy be helpful because Terus has little besides leather to make clothes from, and their composite bows need strings. I imagine bringing a caravan full of exotic grains and a bunch of linen to trade for metal stuff (I have lots of that), dyes, sugar, etc. would be profitable.

All valid points that I wholly agree with. I think I had mentioned somewhere that Arhus was importing metal, or at least I meant to, so that's perfect.

Well on that note - The Metfall Basin is right on the border of the Nati lands, and is the primary source of their rich metal and mineral resources. Assuming you didn't mind dealing with the warlord and the Free Family, you could probably set up a direct trade route with them - and the best part is, they're primitive savages. They don't even want money. You can pay them off with ping pong paddles or something.

Choices, choices. Buy the metal with ping pong paddles, or buy the metal with grains and linens. Or just buy all the metal.

Looking good so far. Herp, the southwestern mountain range sounds good to me. I intend to start placing nations on the map somewhere tomorrow. Also looking forward to the rest of the sheets!

Oh gosh. I think they'd probably just trade for both and put most of it towards weapons / helmets / fancy hats. That, or I'll edit them a bit to include a bit more metal.

Isn't that a factor of our rolls? I wasn't aware we could edit those.

OneEyedChurro has no rare earth materials, which means he'll have to import those. In addition, he's got moderate deposits of 'regular' metals, which means at least some of it can be traded away, or alternatively put to modernising and equipping his army/forces.

Oh, I didn't mean edit the actual roles, I just meant edit the stated use of it in the sheet, since right now most is going towards the military for helmets and weapons, and importing from two places plus mining a bit on their own seems excessive for just those things. ..Unless they have a stockpile of readily usable weapons, which fits in with the easy to equip/supply role I got quite well. So maybe I won't need to edit anything at all, aside from actually documenting where they're importing the metals from.

I've been looking to get a plot for my nation, which is always something that I do before digging deep into nation-building, since I believe that a huge part of an identity of a nation is its geography. Since I didn't get a geography roll, I'm probably have more freedom in this department than others. Here's what I carved out:
It currently borders the Drastonian Empire, since I didn't what my nation to be plopped in the middle of nowhere. But on that point, I don't know if you're going to have large spaces of land between nations before the RP starts, or if you're going to expand nations to fill that up and make things look more realistic. Up to you, I suppose. Anyway, back to my point, I felt that the territory I have now is too large, so I'm asking what would better portion of that territory to take up, within that area or even somewhere else on the map? Just wanted everyone's opinion without redoing city/fort/etc placement a dozen times over. But I'd like to keep it northern, mountainous, and cold, unless someone has a better idea.

Seeing as a huge amount of your land is mountainous, the area you outlined probably has about the same amount of usable space as the rest of us.

Again, to clarify, I'm happy to keep what I have now, I just don't want to make it seem that I'm unfairly taking more land than I'm entitled to.

Officially done with my CS- added the new trade routes and a flag, and lowered the elf population, seeing as I'm a largely human nation. Though' I'd still love to get some intertwining histories, since I did say they were old. Not so old it breaks the OP lore, though.

Actually that brings up a good question, how old can we be, Sini?

I'm about halfway done with my sheet. I'd be glad to write some history with you, perhaps there was a war between our nations sometime between 100-300 years ago?

My soldiers are supposed to be considered devious by foreigners, and I'd like to have a historical explanation for that. I haven't written about specific locations yet, but I was going to have the ruins of a fifth city to the northwest of the current border, and a bunch of fortifications guarding the current border. A particularly bloody war sometime in the far past could explain all of these things.

There's some rather considerable distance between your two nations, which eliminates expansion as an easy excuse for war. One side (or both) would probably have had to been very, very angry with the other in order to mount enough effort to send large armies that far.

Otherwise, a mere cold war and political interference would probably have been the more sensible eventuality.

Well, in the far past both of our nations could've been bigger than they are now. Could even say that one of us had a vassal nation that got caught up in it, got devastated, then was annexed by the lord nation just to survive; that vassal nation could take up a chunk of the space between us.

Actually, if we're going that far back, Arman-Arhus wouldn't have been a Commonwealth quite yet. They'd be very close allies, but still technically two separate Kingdoms, even the union wouldn't have happened yet then. But I'm fine either way in terms of war or cold war; definitely makes that trade route interesting.
