Name: Mina Scrios
Gender: Female
Species: Cockatrice
Age: 21
Appearance:
Mina's feathers are, unlike normal cockatrice, a deep color black with some blue streaks along her tail-feathers and the tips of her wings.

Bio: (Mind if I add this in later)

Powers: Unlike what most people think, Mina doesn't have a petrifying gaze. She does however, have a paralyzing poison in her saliva and covering her claws. Her beak is lined with rows of sharp teeth which can deliver a mean wound. She can blow out a cloud of the poisonous gas to defend herself, or ambush groups of enemies.
Weaknesses: A very easy way of crippling her is either to damage her wings or her talons. Furthermore she cannot handle brutal attacks, her body isn't very sturdy.
Other: She can withstand fire attacks and regenerate quite quickly, as she is a distant relative from the dragonic family.

Name: Nychta Darkesh
Gender: Female
Species: Stymphalian bird
Age: 20
Appearance:
Bio: (Same as above)
Powers: Next to having a iron-clad body and thus withstanding many attacks quite easily, Nychta is extremely fast and capable of carrying heavy weights. She can fire her wings as deadly spikes and use her talons and wings even in close combat battles.
Weaknesses: Extreme heat is capable of melting her, so she avoids dragons at all costs. Extreme cold also isn't good for her, as it freezes her limbs stuck and keeps her from flying. She has no body heat so she doesn't defrost at a fast rate either.
Other: She is resistant to most types of poison and acid, as it doesn't penetrate her iron body.

A bit in a hurry, so I can't write an entire bio right now ^^". I'll try to add it in asap.

You may need to change the species.
As in, don't CALL it a cockatrice, instead, in that case, probably just call it a phoenix... also, no paralysis. Unlike in pokemon, in reality, paralysis = GG no re. With paralysis, you basically win every battle with a single attack. Why? Because creatures can't fight back if they can't move, and these creatures are no exception to that.

Hmm, thats a bit hard though. Unfortunately the cockatrice doesn't have any more particular defensive or offensive attacks. Hard hits deal massive damage and they have no enhanced speed or strength to fight back. Otherwise I'd have to make stuff up for it, but that's less accurate.
And why should I change the species, actually?

Because of the lack of precedent from a world-building angle, is the reasoning I draw from that...

We have bipedal dragons, as well as golems and such. Even slime, which I DEFINITELY had to make up.

So, just come up with something that fits the cockatrice.

Because we really don't know what to specifically classify it as.

In fact, it's recommended you give a description of the character's species BEFORE you make the app.

Although, I will admit I'm a bit annoyed at Lugia for denying certain powers out of OPness. Otherwise, I'm rather neutral when it comes to this.

The most I can suggest is that you tone down paralysis. Maybe to stunning or slowing levels.

Hmm the mythology is so hazy on this species, but I might be able to expand some more. The ability can certainly be reduced to stunning/slowing levels, that's no problem.

Usually it isn't.

We had two kitsunes listed as 'Animelious' in the original DA, which were basically foxes with extra tails. (I'm sure you already know that.)

Edited my IC post. Didn't feel right.

Thing is... I'm not sure I like having redundant species. IE: Someone suggesting a thunderbird when we already have a phoenix (just to let you know, there are no elemental restrictions on species. A phoenix can still use things such as water, lightning, or even earth as its element.)

Whatever.

Today, IC wasn't posted because I had limited time on the computer. Also, I had a discussion with Waskom about the future. (No, not about RPing.)

I might just edit my entire form to make a kumiho (nine tailed fox), cause I can't find more on cockatrice.

I'll just put this here. They're saying this not because the creature concept isn't sound, but because the people in the world wouldn't yet know what to call it when it happened.

It's more that this other creature could fit in as a different one. In the case of that kumi-whateverjapanesething it would be listed as an Animelious, whereas the cockatrice would be listed as a Dracoavian. You do not just come up with species on the fly... use what you have provided for you. I'd like to prevent redundant species, and the form and powers of each individual species is very varied. We can have metal phoenixes, fox-based animelious with more than one tail (seems to be popular for some reason), gryphons who can't fly but instead can freely move under the ground or something, and, if all that fails, we even have chimeras, which are even more varied in their appearance.
Got four animals that you need your character to be? Well, put them in the blender and call it a chimera.
