The War of Panitil

The land of Panitil is filled with ancient beasts, legendary magic and awe inspiring sights. From the great mountains of Singahal, to the beaches of Ninoa the land is full of adventure and wonder. But no one sees the land for what it is. All that replaces it is the fear and depression of war. The black shadow of death has covered the land for the last five years, and as the war continues to be stuck in a stalemate the people on Panitil fear that they will know the feel of the blade before they know what peace is again.

Panitil is controlled by the empire of Yid, founded by the great king Ginal. Before him, Panitil was just a random collection of barbarians and rouges with no loyalty. Ginal was able to unify many while destroying his opposition, but not without help. During his travels he met a golden dragon, a beast so rare one has not been seen since the days of Ginal almost two hundred years ago. Ginal, near death due to a battle he barely won, met with the dragon. The beast had been beaten and tortured by the very enemy Ginal had just defeated. The dragon extended an offer of gratitude, seeing Ginal as a capable fighter and worthy king. He offered him a pact, a joining of souls that would save them both and grant them immeasurable powers. Ginal saw no alternative and agreed, merging his soul with the great beast. Gaining the power of the dragon and its fire allowed Ginal to conquer the rest of the land. He named this empire Yid, after the dragon who gave him the strength to create it.

Now the great kingdom of Yid has been the focus of the war. Some view it still as the one place that order truly exist. Other see that order as tyranny in a clever guise. The great Goddess, Princess Quila, is the flag which this empire waves with pride. She is the first female ruler of Yid from Ginal's bloodline, as her father and mother could not produce a son. Quila took upon herself the duty that many women who marry into the royal line do and take on the job of becoming The Goddess. A living embodiment of perfection and innocence, whoever holds the title of Goddess is considered to be the very image of the land of Yid. All who see Yid see Quila as the living entity that represents the legendary kingdom. Yet she does not lead the charge for battle.

The voice that leads them is the great warlord Vikash, Quila's betrothed. Brought together through their parent's desire to settle a dispute in the kingdom, they were once a great presence of stability and love. Once Quila's parents fell ill however Vikash felt it necessary to take over control of Yid and all the lands it controls. Politics was not the make-do king's forte sadly. Instead, the blade and a mighty fist is what keeps the lands in line. A policy that has brought on the one thing Quila detests above all other things: War.

The people of Panitil are now raising banners against the Goddess and her husband. Tyranny and slaughter being the only thing that they can hold responsibility for. Not the so called order and peace they seem to throw out among their propaganda. A young man, Dina of Moushak, raises his blade against the terrors of Yid. Having lost his father and mother, the dukes of Moushak, he believes it is his duty to bring the false king and queen to justice with his own version of it. Yet in this world strength is given to the undeserving and taken from the just as quickly as the waves disappear back into the ocean. The tyranny must end, but do you have the strength to battle against the armies of Yid? Soldiers who fight for a man whose thirst for blood can be seen in his ruby eyes? Soldiers who fight with the only desire in their hearts is to protect their beloved Goddess?

Then again, you have suffered greatly as well have you not? Family, friends, homes, loved ones. Something must have been taken from you by now. And the only question you can ask yourself is thus. Will you accept a false king and Goddess, or will you raise more than a fist in defiance.

World of Panitil

The land of Panitil is truly a sight to behold, full of diverse lands and cultures. Each part of the continent has a different feel to it and seems to have different traditions. All however are under the control of the Yid empire. So while each land may have their own bits of culture, all still fall under their control. And some are now sick of the rule. But others still are forced to live by it due to the different creatures that roam the lands and skies of the continent.

Panitil has a great diversity of creatures. From the majestic phoenixes to the powerful dragons and disgusting trolls. These creatures all carry some form of intelligence, and with that intelligence comes the desire for knowledge and power. Sometimes that power can be gained through training. Other times through gaining objects of immense power that have only been spoken of in myths. But the fastest, and sometimes the most dangerous way, is the way of the pact. First mentioned in ancient texts, it was never attempted until the great Golden Dragon Yid and Ginal merged their souls to create a being strong enough to unite the world around them. They paid for this strength however, with the rules of the pact.

It is said that while the pact has its benefits, it has its downfalls. Between the two people in the pact, a strength is shared. The great dragon Yid gave his control of fire to Ginal. Ginal then wielded this fire in countless ways. As a projectile. A sword. Some even said they saw Ginal waste entire villages in firestorms that covered villages and turned everything to ash. Man and building alike. Yet with that strength a price had to be paid.

Ginal was connected to the dragon in every sense. Every emotion and physical feeling one felt, the other shared the same feelings. Should one fall, the other dies with them. The souls are bound to each other and thus every injury is shared. You become connected, nothing private to your life at all. Such an invasion of privacy can be viewed as hell, and not worth the benefits of a pact. That is why most pacts end in desertion or murder. The pact is still used today, but very rare in the land of Yid.



Human Cities

Yid: The capital city of Panitil. One of the most developed cities of the land. The new regime is seen here as weapon markets and barracks nearly line up the streets. There are a few places for higher living, such as the main theater and garden that was planted in honor of the first king, but they have nearly been forgotten to this point. The Goddess' castle is found in the center of the city, with a statue of her placed near the entrance to the great symbol of the empire, as if to great those who wish to receive her graces.

Hiiha: A city that focuses purely on art. All the higher end members of society come to Hiiha to either learn how to further better themselves or retire to a land of luxury only found here. It remains close to the empire and because of this receives many goods for those that work there. Some of the best stone is mined at the Golden Ash Peaks and transported here for statues, and the finest silks are sent there to make beautiful curtains and costumes for the different theater troupes that reside there. It is truly a paradise for those who can afford it.

Lilopa: Found by the coast this is a place fit for the fisherman and his tools. They say that children here learn how to fish by age six, and how to fix a sail on a boat by twelve. Besides their ability to fish, they are also great leaders in the concept of ship making. All of the strongest boats come from this land and some have even said that these are the only ships that can handle the dangerous waves of the ocean that surrounds the continent. Some say this is due to the Goddess' visit years ago that blessed the harbor, others that it is purely due to the great Lilopan minds of the ship yard. Of course, the second opinion is kept in a whisper, to avoid suspicion from the Yid army that frequents the city to collect the spoils of the fishermen there for the capital.

Rowal: A desert city north of the Bouri Forest and Lake. It is mostly viewed as a city that is stuck in ancient ways due to the lack of attention the empire pays to it. Because of this the tempers have flared up and some major leaders have whispered the idea of removing themselves from under Yid's flag to become a republic of their own. Due to their lack of supplies and alliances due to the many nomads that surround the city as well, they have yet to go through with their plan. They knuckle under the empire for the moment, all the while planning out their ideas of how to remove the tyranny that grips the land.

Reshri: A flat land covered in plains, it is said this is where the first battles by Yid and Ginal took place and is believed to be Ginal's original home. The city takes great pride in their part in the legend of Ginal, so much so that they have statues of the great king in every major square in the city, each representing a different part of his life. While he is buried in Yid, he is the favorite son of Reshri. Those who seek out history and how the empire was formed come here and become lost in the mountains of text that are in the great historical library that towers over the town square. There is also a stadium where jousting and sword fighting tournaments take place, the winners receiving a golden token bearing Ginal and Yid's faces on each side, to symbolize their victory in the games.

Gigew: Focusing much of their success from the nearby Cico Forest and Lopa Delta, this human city is a moderate one that had begun working on a new concept for power. They call it: steam. They supposedly already have been able to use it to heat homes and power other things such as machines to sort grain and other seeds. This was also the city that found and perfected the art of gunpowder, using it for small bombs and firearms. Most find those in Gigew to be quite an odd group of people, but behind their glasses and strange inventions, they have only the glory of the empire in mind. Though rumor has it that some have begun finding ways to use the great city's inventions against Yid itself.

Yuidish: A desert city that finds itself cut off practically from the rest of the human world, Yuidish has found safe haven with the three elven cities to the north and west of them in a great alliance that has lasted for the last part of forty years. Because of this, the city is much more in touch with nature than the desert city of Rowal for example, as the city has actually found ways to use the sand around them to create great glass ware and other things. Though most of their work is not seen by the rest of the human world, Yuidish is a great land full of artistic and creative works. Most of these go to the elven cities in trade, and thus has helped them sustain themselves through the many harsh conditions of the desert around them.

Veganshi: A hunter's and trader's paradise. With the river to the north and The Great Spine to the south, you can choose to either fish the waters dry or hunt the caverns and caves that line the mountain wall. It used to be much more lively and full of joy, but due to the Yid empire suddenly claiming martial law on the city it is now suddenly down trodden and seemingly in a giant depression-like state. The explanation for this lock down of the city has yet to be explained, but some believe it has something to do with the sudden silence from the dwarven city of Kikope to the south. The empire thinks it could be signs of some kind of war looming on the horizon. Should that be the case, Veganshi would be the first to fall. Others believe that it is because of how strong the city was becoming, the capital felt threatened and decided to put the whole city and her people in their place. Whatever the case may be, the power struggle has affected all who live within the walls.

Elven Cities

Bisha: A city that finds itself bordered to the Vegu Forest to the south, is filled with druids and healers among the elven people. Many young elves journey through the forest to earn the skills to become one with nature herself and thus many Bishan elves are viewed as the most peaceful of the three cities. While this may be the case, supposedly some disputes have arisen between the dwarven city of Sidnil over control of the major lake system that is between the two. The Bishan elves want to keep the lake clean and free of all outside interference, while the dwarves want to take the lake and drain it so that they can begin a project to mine out the lake bed for valuable minerals such as gold and silver. While no contemplation of war has taken place, the worry that at some point dwarven steel will meet with the skills of the druids and warriors of Bisha is looming over the heads of her people.

Quila: Quila houses a far more aggressive group of elves, and according to legend they were the first house of elves. The first leader of the elves, Quilo, fought alongside Ginal against the hordes those who would oppose him and thus earned the title of ruler of the south eastern part of the kingdom. Quilo ruled for only a short time, as he was later assassinated by an unseen killer. To this day no one knows what truly happened or who was responsible, but some believe that Ginal may have had something to do with it. Forty-five years ago, a relocation program forced some humans to the land. While many elves threw up their arms in rebuttal, Quilo's son Tysi, gave the human's his permission and grace to take the deserts to the east of their city. He has since kept peace with humans through trade and monitored the situation of all elves in the province. Though he is bound to his loyalty to the empire, even he grows worried that soon he will have to raise the banners of war against Vikash if he oversteps his boundaries. The city itself is home to great blacksmiths and holds the strongest forces of the elven army.

Jigiput: A farming city that does little in regards to magic or fighting like their brethren, this tribe focuses solely on maintaining peace with those that live in Panitil. They are responsible for the trade between Yuidish and the rest of the world. Because of this they are viewed as a trading post to the rest of the world, and for that reason are shown little respect. Though many don't seem to mind it, as it does bring many great things into the city itself and makes life all the more interesting in the otherwise dull and boring plains that surround the people there. However, the empire has suddenly begun short changing the traders here, selling less but for higher prices. While the city can afford it for the time, they have already sent messages to Quila and their king showing concern for this new development.

Dwarven Cities

Xew: One of the more quiet dwarven cities, Xew is a very steadfast and traditional place for the dwarves of that land. According to old texts, the city was once shared by the great stone giants that roamed the Tyuqua Range centuries ago and thus became focused on mining the great stones of those mountains. Back then it used to be to feed the great creatures, but now the city mines for self preservation. They have a small trading agreement with Gigew to supply them with minerals they need for their experiments, and they themselves do a lot of work in the area of buildings. Finding new ways to bend and form stone into different formations, they are responsible for many of the building designs of the northern part of the country. A claim to fame they do not get the credit for that much however, as Yid and other human cities do not pay them nearly the amount of gold they deserve for their work. Rather than feeling slighted, most just drudge on back home to work on new designs. Some however are getting fed up and have started refusing service to the human cities.

Kikope: The one city furthest away from the other dwarven controlled areas, Kikope is actually built somewhat within The Great Spine. It is an underground mining city that hold many ancient tombs of dwarven warriors and leaders that fought alongside Ginal during what they called The Formation Wars. Once considered the dwarven capital, they have since began noticing much of their influence no longer holds weight, even diplomats that frequent the capital have noticed that they are paid attention to less and less. Recently the city has gone dead and for reasons unknown have refused to respond to messages from the outside world. No one knows why, but many have tried to find out. Yet The Great Spin provides for the city what it always has, a great defense for those who wish to find the gold covered center of the dwarven world.

Sidnil: In the past Sidnil used to get by with quarries that surrounded their area to collect the gold and jewels they desired to fulfill the ancient dwarven skills of the miner. Sadly however, the quarries have since died out and has forced them to become more of a farming and fishing society. Viewing this new lease on life as boring, they have been fighting with the elves of Bisha to drain one of the two lakes to the east so they can mine out the lake to search for minerals that would bring them back to a seat of power among the three races with the riches it could provide. Yet the Bishan elves have not cooperated, and tempers are rising within the small city to move the steps along and some have even whispered about simply draining the lake by force.

Rules

1. No Godmodding or power gaming of any kind. No dodging every shot that comes your way, no catching arrows out of the air or just spamming magic like some kind of great sorcerer. Everyone is still human and therefore has limits. Same goes for beasts that you use as pact creatures.

2. Be sure to work on your posts. No two-four sentence paragraphs. Be sure to develop what you are doing as your character and how the world is reacting as well. The more you write, the more your fellow roleplayers will be able to write back. A minimum of three to four paragraphs a post please.

3. Be considerate of your posting speeds. If you and another person are in a sequence of just your characters, that's fine. But if you carry on for three pages of just the two characters that takes it a little far. Try to make opportunities for other people to become involved as well and push the story. The more plot lines we can make, the better.

4. Be sure to inform me if you are taking a hiatus for a period of time. Two days of no contact and I will begin to worry. By the third day I will send a message to you asking where you are at. The fourth day we will remove the character from a scene in some way. WE WILL NOT KILL YOUR CHARACTER OFF AT THIS TIME! You can come back later on

5. Be civil. If you disagree on a post or some other basic action bring it up in a polite manner and discuss it as people. No reason to start fanning flames in the OOC or making a scene in the IC either.

6. Should you have any plans of something you want to do with your or someone else's character, bring it up with them in the OOC or in the PMs before you do it. If someone starts doing something to your character and you don't want it to happen, see rule 5 on how to deal with it. Also, if you have an idea for a plot point, know that I am open to creative collaboration and feel free to PM me.

7. Enjoy your time in this story. This isn't meant to be work. The only work involved in this is myself making the rules and ground work for the story and you making characters to join. After that it is all fun and games. Please be sure to enjoy it as such.

8. Should you decide to engage in romance, know where to stop. Don't get too graphic with it. I don't know if people still do this, but if it does get more than just a little steamy take it to the messages and finish the scene out there.

9. In regards to pact beasts, we will stick with one creature per character. And again, pacts are not required. They are just something you can include if you want to add something different to your characters. Pact beasts will count as their own separate character so you will in essence be posting for two if you choose to have one.

10. The only character limit is the one you put on yourself. Make as many as you want but just be sure not to make too many that you can't keep up with them all.

Name: The name of your character

Username: Your name on RPG

Age: How old you are?

Appearance: What do you look like? A picture or description works fine here.

Home Land: Where do you hail from?

Personality: What kind of person is your character towards others?

Back story: Explain to us where you stand in the land of Panitil.

Weapon of Skill: In these days you must defend yourself from oppressors. What weapon have you been trained it to kill your foes?

Magic: Have you developed a flair for that which goes beyond the boundaries of man? You can only know magic if you are in a pact.

Equipment: A simple weapon and garb will not due if you are to usurp Yid's tyranny. What all do you carry with you in case of trouble?

Pact Beast: Have you met a beast worthy sharing a soul with? Explain your pact beast to all of us. Give us a name and what the beast is like. (Note: You do not need to have your pact beast at the beginning of the story. You can meet it later on in the story.)

The thread is now open and ready to go folks. Sorry for the delay and hopefully you all enjoy it.

We will be starting in the city of Veganshi since it seems a lot of people picked places closest to there for the most part. Again, home lands are just to get an idea as to where your character comes from, not where they need to start off at. This ain't no JRPG. Haha!

Also I will be starting on making detailed descriptions on specific cities either tonight or tomorrow.

I'm happy. I am considering playing a pact creature character that another character can bond with if they want. I think it would be interesting to have two characters in one pact played by two different people instead of both played by the same person. If that's allowed. If anyone is interested PM me.

Well until we get more people I don't think we need to stay dedicated to an order quite yet. Again, once we get more people to join we'll go one by one, but for now just post when you feel comfortable everyone. Just so we get this thing rolling.
