I'm slightly conflicted if I want to join this or not. I have my own OUAT thread going (maybe you've seen it? It's been going on for 6 months now) but I wouldn't at all be opposed to joining in a new one. One thing that kind of threw me was the fact that fairytale land is a lot like our world, not the whole 'medieval' magical feel. My main question for now though is if you would be willing to accept characters straight up from the show? For example, if I did join I would want to play either Rumpelstiltskin or Regina. I play both of them (and a few others from the show) in my rp and have writing samples should you require them.

Hey, hey Yoshi. Been awhile.
I actually stumbled upon your thread last night, hadn't seen it prior.
Don't worry about writing samples, I know how you write. As for the character. I would rather your characters be your own take on the character as opposed to the show's. Though, I can't speak for Vicier when it comes to that.

(Sorry for the multiple posts. I blame the guild going down and what-not lol)

Hey Marx :D Miss ya! lol

And I guess I need to re-illiterate on what I meant a bit when it comes to the characters I would play. Seeing as this is an entirely new set-up, I would make their back stories different that but ultimately keep their current personalities the same. Like with Rumpel, maybe Baelfire died in childbirth instead of the whole 'going through the portal' thing (idk I'd come up with something a lot more solid given more time) nor would I stick with Rumpel only being able to fall in love with Belle so that can be opened up to the other characters should they so chose. (Does that make sense?)

I'm lying. I've never watched the show. This is now well out of my realm of expertise. When Vicier gets on, she'll be able to give you an answer. Sorry I'm useless!

It's probably a good thing you haven't watched the show and are involved in this rp lol there are so many damn complications which is why a fresh reboot of one of the pre-established characters would be awesome. I have 5 people total in my rp right now (used to be a lot more, but they were cut for inactivity) and 2 of them haven't even seen the show but we make it work.

I know I already have two characters already, but if you want me to, I can come up with two villains so we at least have some... But they would probably be Captain Hook and Ursula.

Good morning everyone! How are we all today?

Just a few things this morning that I need to say; first off, Rapunzel is accepted! Yaay!

Scarlett, you arr more than welcome to make a couple of villains if you wish, you still have two characters left.

Yoshi, welcome! Just to make it perfectly clear, I have watched the show -quite a big fan- so I know how it can get confusing and such to roleplay. I do see where you're coming from when you speak about remodeling the characters so that they fit into the story while still keeping their original personalities and traits.
I am willing to allow you to do this and talking myself through both of their back stories I have found a way in which I would be happy for them to keep part of their original ones. Although, a few things would need to change I believe that this could work out for all.
Regina can still be Snow's step mother, however one of two things can happen. One, the story continues and Regina herself kills the King, this means there would be no hope for Snow to get to Earth meaning she would be enslaved and put to work for the Queen. Or two, she doesn't kill the King, this would allow him to get Snow to earth before he himself gets killed or enslaved. Either way I will allow her to have her mother kill the only man she loved and for Snow to have revealed her secret.
Rumpel was a little harder due to all the ties he has however I thought about it and I figured that he could still have a wife a child, with this though his ties across the board would need to be cut (hook and such) that way it leaves it open to everyone; if you wish for him to be on the villain side and take power with the Queen, his wife could have taken the opportunity to send their son to earth while dying in the process. This leaves it open for people if they choose to want to play his son.
As for the setting think Medieval castles and homes and decor, they just have things such as electricity for lighting as well as indoor plumbing for toilets and showers; though the bathrooms are carved out of stone and look more like their own personal grotto with a waterfall (<-shower).

I'm sorry, I rambled, but I hope it helps...

It does, a bit lol but I'm totally fine with twisting their back stories to fit into this better. The only thing that's really keeping me from jumping on this is the fact that it is semi-modern and not quite medieval enough, so... I dunno I might have to think on it a bit. In the fairytale land is everything else more or less the same? Castles and Ogres and sword fights (rather than guns) etc?

Edit: Also, if you wanna take a peek at my OUAT rp we are about ready to open up enrollment if its something you'd be interested in

Name: James Hooke
Real Name: Captain Hooke
Age: 23
Occupation (If Any): Captain of the Jolly Roger

Appearance - Today (Age 23):

Personality Traits: Captain Hooke is a very spiteful man at times. He hates almost all children between the ages of them being a baby until they’re eighteen. Once they’re eighteen, he can tolerate them very little. He is protective of his ship and makes sure that no one takes it or steals it. He can have spurs of niceness, but he seems to be a marauding ladies' man at the moment. He has a quick temper and got it after an older rival shipmaster, one everyone called “The Crocodile”, cut off his hand and fed it to his pet crocodiles. Hence the name "the Crocodile". Hooke was messing around with his lady and the Crocodile wanted revenge. (I wanted it to be a little different from the story)
Skills: He is very good with a sword and manipulating his hook as a weapon.
Biography (Before Earth): Captain Hooke was brought to Neverland to make sure that the boys that the sorcerer brought there never had any fun and could never leave. When Peter came, Hooke made it his goal to make Peter’s life miserable, even capturing Tinkerbell, Peter’s beloved fairy. But before long, Peter stole onto his ship and got Tinkerbell back. Captain Hooke has tried many times to kill Peter but has never succeeded because Peter always seemed one step ahead of him. When the dark Queen came, Captain Hooke gratefully accepted her offer, his thirst for power and his want to kill Peter Pan overrunning his judgment. He forgot about Peter once Peter left.
Biography (Life On Earth): Captain Hooke has never been to Earth. He has only seen glimpses of it through the pixie dust he uses as a scrying tool. He feels like it seems like a horrible place without magic.
Other: Hooke still resides in Neverland and stays looking at the age of 23. That’s why he and Peter look really close in age.

Name: Ursula
Real Name: Ursula; wicked sea witch
Age: 45
Occupation (If Any): Sea Witch, if that counts.

Appearance - Today (Age 45):

Personality Traits: Ursula is a calm and scheming witch. She waits for someone to slip up and that was when King Triton sent Ariel to the human world. She cares about the sea, but sees it as more of a profit and plaything for her magical skills. She hates most fish and merfolk, but she only has love for her pet eels.
Skills: She can swim very fast and has magical powers.
Biography (Before Earth): Ursula was King Triton’s sister before she was expelled from the city for trying to kill him for the crown. She then sank into her cave to plot her revenge. She came across his beloved daughter Ariel and tried to coax her into stealing the crown and trident for her. But Ariel knew about Ursula and didn’t want to give her them. She swam away immediately and went back, telling her father what Ursula wanted her to do. Outraged, King Triton banished Ursula farther away from Atlantica, where Ursula lived and waited for the King to slip up. When the Queen came, asking for her help, she gladly accepted it on one condition: that she could rule Atlantica like she wanted all those years ago. The queen agreed and got Ursula’s magic powers on her side.
Biography (Life On Earth): Ursula has never been to Earth and to this day does not know where King Triton sent Ariel.
Other: Nothing.

Alright, well I'm still not entirely sure about the lore behind the fairytale world and what it does and doesn't have, I've made up a CS for Rumpelstiltskin so feel free to pick that apart like with the information about Ogres and what-not. It's the basic back story of Rumpelstiltskin from the show with tweaks here and there to accommodate to what I DO understand so if there's more wrong with it just let me know and I'll get it fixed.

Along side Rumpelstiltskin, I'm thinking about also doing Regina (now... would she be THEE Queen talked about in the OP?) and possibly even Baelfire who was sent to Earth. That okay?

Name:
Rumpelstiltskin –The Dark One –

Real Name:
Rumpelstiltskin

Age:
46

Occupation (If Any):
Deal-maker / Dark Sorcerer

Appearance - Thirteen Years Ago (Age 33 ):

Appearance - Today (Age 46 [Physically still 33]):

Personality Traits:
Being the best person to understand that all magic comes with a price, there isn’t anything he can’t or won’t do to remain superior against other magic users. Arguably being the most powerful sorcerer in all the realms, Rumpelstiltskin uses the fear of his reputation against those who come to him for aid. He’s quick witted and cunning, often times leaving others feeling very unsettled in his presence and when he’s in an especially good mood, he’ll taunt those with a child-like voice to really make others uncomfortable.

Skills:
There is very little that Rumpelstiltskin can’t do, but like any other sorcerer, he is unable to transport himself to other realms without use of a magical artifact, cannot bring back the dead or force someone to fall in love. He can, however, use his magic to spin straw into gold, materialize objects with the flick of a wrist, transport himself across the land, and has connections almost everywhere that can get him what he wants.

Biography (Before Earth):
Rumpelstiltskin was a nobody, a common man with nothing extraordinary or special about him. He grew up poor, and remained poor even until the day he married. His wife, Milah, he loved very much, and though she loved him in return she never passed up an opportunity to let Rumpelstiltskin know that she wanted a better life, and was miserable. Something changed in her, though, when Rumpelstiltskin was called to the front in the Ogre’s War, to fight and actually become someone. Milah was overjoyed in the knowledge that when he returned (if he returned) that they would have status to their name, and money, and she could finally have that better life she always wanted.

He left shortly after for the Ogres War, going through many months of training in the process and spent another few months in the battlefield waiting to strike when the time was right. The night before they were to ride into battle, Rumpelstiltskin came across a Seer who the army planned on using as a weapon to help favor their strategy. The Seer told Rumpelstiltskin that his wife was with child, but his actions would leave the child fatherless. Afraid that the Seer meant he would die in battle, Rumpelstiltskin took a sledge hammer to his leg and shattered his own shin bone so that he might be sent home and be reunited with his wife and newborn child. What he didn’t know, was that the Seer had seen the future regarding The Evil Queen’s threat. It was two sides of the same coin. Had he stayed to fight in the Ogres War, he would have died anyway.

When Rumpelstiltskin returned home, their child had already been born but Milah was less than happy that Rumpelstiltskin had injured himself to return home. Ashamed to now be, as she described, ‘lashed to the village coward’ their marriage became a downward spiral, the only thing keeping them together was their son, Baelfire. It was a rocky marriage; Milah was oftentimes at the bar or fooling around with other men, leaving Rumpelstiltskin to care for their son a great majority of the time.

When Baelfire was close to turning ten, the age draft for conscripting children to the front was lowered from fourteen to ten, putting Rumpelstiltskin into a frenzied panic. In just a few months’ time the soldiers would be taking his boy away from him, a sure death sentence as the Ogre’s were not merciful. An old beggar recognized the desperation in Rumpelstiltskin, and told him of a way that he could keep his family safe. It was a fool’s errand, but Rumpelstiltskin would do anything to ensure the safety of his child, and so, Rumpelstiltskin sought out to kill The Dark One and take his powers for his own.

Having to leave Baelfire home with Milah, Rumpelstiltskin began his journey to seek out the dagger Of The Dark One, which the beggar had told him about. Short of a month later, he located the magical dagger, summoned The Dark One with it and plunged it into his chest. The transformation was almost instant. His skin turned a sickly green with golden flecks, resembling scales. His teeth began to rot and his eyes dilated to almost twice the size. In appearance he was a monster, but that was nothing compared to the demon who now controlled his mind and body, the demon of The Dark One who thrived on dark magic and chaos.

By the time Rumpelstiltskin returned home, he was too late. The village had been completely destroyed, not a soul left behind as to tell him what had happened. He spent months searching for his family but he had only been able to learn about The Evil Queen’s up rise in power. It was because of her that his village was destroyed; it was because of her that his family was lost.

Perfecting his use of magic over the next month, Rumpelstiltskin was able to use a locator spell to find Milah, a pile of bones picked clean by the crows by the time he reached her. There was no sign of his son, Baelfire, and even after thirteen more years of searching, he has yet to find him. He can only hope that he was one of the children who had been sent through to this other realm he knew nothing about, but he still searches with hope.

Biography (Life On Earth):
Rumpelstiltskin has never been to Earth, but has spent thirteen years learning about it so that if he was ever able to, he could travel there to find his son.

Other:
Rumor has it that there is an ancient artifact that can control The Dark One completely, and this same artifact can be used to kill The Dark One at the price of taking on his curse… and powers.

Still considered a villain by the common people, Rumpelstiltskin is one of the few who refused to join The Evil Queen and instead, plots against her.

The Fairy Tale World does have things such as that though the old is mixed with the new. I've read over you're CS and I'm perfectly fine with it, however I would rather there not have been an Ogre War as with the villains doing their part to wreak torment on the other characters there is already quite a bit that they need to keep track of. However, if the Ogre war is kept to only one or two kingdoms then I have no issues with it.

No, at this stage I had not put any thought to Regina being the queen that brought all the villains together; I had in mind an original character, but at this stage I am still thinking about it.

I'll hold off on Regina then and work on Baelfire's CS. As for the Ogre's War, I'm pretty sure it was just a threat to the one kingdom, not a world-wide thing, if not, well, it is now :D
