Appearance: Poppy is quite tall for a fairy--nearly six and one quarter inches--and is perhaps a little too proud of that fact. Her hair is wild and strawberry blonde, flower petals and tiny feathers braided within the tangles. She has rich, brown eyes that sparkle with mischief. In the moonlight her pale skin nearly shimmers. She wears a dress that is crafted from a variety of natural materials including iridescent flower petals and vibrant green blades of weaved grass that wrap around her waist. Though Poppy adores shoes, she often misplaces them and as a result is nearly always barefoot.
Personality: In many ways, Poppy is like most fairies: infinitely curious, mischievous, and a little forgetful. When you've been around as long as she has, you learn to not hold onto memories too tightly because there's simply not enough room in such a little head. She lives almost entirely in the present moment, rarely thinking about what happened before and never about what is to come. Though at times boredom can lead her to be distracted, she is capable of an almost absurd focus if something interests her. Poppy is fascinated by new things, people, accents, customs, mechanisms, experiences, anything she hasn't seen before. This informs her adventurous spirit which is fueled in equal parts by uncommon courage and naiveté.
Backstory: Born in a remote forest somewhere in northern Velt, Poppy has lived a long life of fearless wonder. She danced for weeks with her fairy-sisters during the solstice celebrations, travelled up and down the River Nirinel, skittered across battlefields between clashing warriors of some nation or another, followed a baby turtle throughout its entire life until it grew old and died on the banks of Vaelin's lake... She lives her life with her eyes wide open, ready to see what the day will bring.
Equipment: She carries with her a thin spool of many different colored threads and a needle that she likes to swing about like a sword. She has a small hollowed acorn where she keeps some treats: a drop of honey and a dusting of pollen.
Abilities: Poppy has an innate harmonious relationship with nature. Most woodland predators either ignore or tolerate her presence completely. She has an intuitive knowledge of flowers, fauna, and herbs, and knows of their restorative or poisonous properties. She's good at sewing and is capable of mending wounds quickly and cleanly with natural herbs and a touch of magic. She's very fast and nimble when she is flying, and would be very difficult to catch without a net. While it isn't saying much, Poppy is stronger than she looks, and is able to lift nearly five pounds in flight for a short distance.
