Hi all, I'm looking for maybe 1-2 RPers for a small group RP. The RP is heavily-inspired by the Gundam multiverse. For those who don't know, Gundam is a long-running mecha anime franchise spanning multiple universe and incarnations. As far as mecha are concerned, Gundam falls somewhere in between over-the-top 'Super Robots' (Gurren Lagann, Mazinger, etc.) and gritty, hard-science 'Real Robots' (Battletech/Mechwarrior, etc.)
Now I'm going to be very selective about who I'll let join for two main reasons:
1. This idea is my baby, I've been wanting to host an RP like this for some time, heck, my username is even a reference to an important plot point in the RP, so this is very important to me and I don't want it to crash and burn.
2. I'm going to use this RP to introduce a friend of mine to browser-based forum RP, so I don't want their first experience to be bad.
So criteria are as follows:
1. The RP will be based on you, the player, getting to create a mech for your character to pilot. This mech will be decently strong in the beginning, and get stronger over time as the RP progresses. This level of freedom comes with its own problems. While the final stage of these mechs will be powerful to the point of pushing the limits of believability, I need players who are mature enough to accept failure and imaginative enough to create characters and mechs with real weaknesses and shortcomings, especially when it comes to combat. The other players are part of your team, so you don't need to be able to do everything well, let your allies cover for you. Also, there are pseudoscientific restrictions that I will enforce, so a lot of player ideas I may need to approve before they can be accepted. I usually won't give a hard 'no', but I may say, 'save that idea for a future upgrade, it's too strong right now'. I'm leaving it up to an 'honor system' that players don't come in and make OP characters without flaws.
2. I am relatively slow RPer, I average 3.5-14 IC posts a week, that is, a post every-other-day to 2 posts-a-day, usually 1 post-a-day. If you think this is too fast, or too slow, then we might not be compatible. I can shoot off quick OOC posts more regularly to answer questions. I also hate waking up the next day to find pages of unread OOC, it's fine if you guys chat about stuff, but i could just start a PM convo for that so the OOC can stay relatively uncluttered.
3. I am putting this in the casual section mainly for the reason of posting speed as mentioned in the previous point, but for the most part, I have no limits to post length, and don't really mind one-liners, especially during combat or dialogue. But if you're posting one-liners because you're not sure what to do, you can always ask in the OOC and I'll try my best to give you more stuff to work with so your IC post can have a bit more content.
So that's pretty much it, there's more lore, but I'm not going to flood my Int Check with too much of that. I also don't have any way of knowing whether or not you fit the above-mentioned criteria, so again, honor system. Also, if a bunch of people reply and all seem to be legit, please don't be offended if I don't pick you, I'm only looking for a small group.
