Muttonhawk Let Slip the Corgis of War

Almost the entire remains of the day were spent with Harriet discussing the situation with her alphas. For the most part they were able to build some semblance of a defence that mostly hinged on reasonable doubt. Other opportunities for poisoning Jerrick made themselves available if the test for the poison turned out to be incorrect. Other than that they attempted to put together counter cases for why the other lieutenants or another clan member might have a greater motive for killing Jerrick. Harriet was careful not to advocate any resentment, but she didn't exactly go out of her way to demand that her pack mates stay behaved. There were times where Harriet addressed Meesei to clarify evidence or to inquire about the state of Jerrick's body. She was not involved with the conversation any further than that.

Vera and Kaleeth similarly spent the entire rest of the day asking around to find Caleb. At first Vera did not show any worry, but as the day wore on her anxiety started to seep through. They had no luck with lukewarm leads from Caleb's friends and mentors, wandering around didn't yield anything, and all his usual hiding spots were empty. By the end of the day Vera was exhausted. She went to bed late and reluctantly, trying to trust in Caleb's ability to take care of himself, wherever he was.

Fendros and Janius reported back to Meesei at the end of the day to report Darahil and Oswall's discussion. Thankfully, there didn't appear to be any more suspicious machinations with Oswall now that his trust was mostly rebuilt. It was mostly a back-and-forth discussion about how the clan would react to the next day's announcement. Without either of them to discuss with each other, some mistakes may have been made in delivery.

The next morning, the atmosphere in the clan was palpably tense as it was by the end of yesterday. Meesei and her pack were bombarded with questions pertaining to the announcement whenever they were spotted. At least it had seemed that the clan had patient enough up until now.

After a quick meal, all the lieutenants, save for Harriet, stood on the mezzanine looking over the clan breaking their fast. Eyes glanced up at them from every direction with nervousness. "Any last points, champion?" Oswall asked Meesei quietly in preparation.

Although she was mostly uninvolved, Meesei was entirely truthful whenever Harriet had questions for her. She was honest when she said that she just wanted to discern the truth, though she still believed that Harriet was most likely the traitor. So far, it seemed like Harriet’s main strategy was to call into question the legitimacy of the current evidence, which did make sense, but she did not indicate how or if she was going to search for new evidence. Although, to be fair, she had only had a few hours so far.

The hours Harriet spent with her alphas also had the effect of inspiring Meesei with ways to build her case, or even prove it flawed. Before the trial, she intended to speak to both the alchemist and Sabine to question them about the test, and to perform another to verify the first’s results. If it gave the same result, then it would strengthen her case. If it did not, then Meesei would have to re-evaluate the accusation. She would not want anyone to be charged with this crime if she could not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that they were the traitor.

Meesei had to politely ward off quite a few of the clan as it came time for the announcement. She took her place on the mezzanine with all of the other lieutenants, apart from Harriet, who was still under guard. This would not be easy, but it was necessary.

Meese looked to Oswall, responding just as quietly. “Nothing more than we already discussed. I trust you will do all you can to keep the clan united during this. Just make sure to emphasize that Harriet will receive a fair trial from a neutral party.”

Oswall gave an acknowledging grunt to Meesei before turning to face the crowd. He surveyed the clan gathered in front of him as he slowly pulled his axe from its loop on his belt. For want of a gavel, Oswall struck the stone of the balustrade in front of him with the blunt end of his weapon over and over again, sending deep cracking sounds through the echoing chamber. The clan responded with their attention as their murmurings faded away. Anyone nervous with crowds would have been paralysed at the sight, but not the practiced lieutenants. The only one who seemed to be having trouble was Vera, though her anxiety was not simple stage fright.

"Packs of this home, hear us!" Oswall projected his voice to all, "There have been whispers abound this past two days. Though we have been secretive recently, it has been necessary for the clan's safety. Everyone's collective patience has been appreciated, and as events have progressed it is now time to be forthcoming." The entire chamber was dead silent, save for a crying baby hidden away somewhere. Everyone waited with baited breath. Oswall's voice was authoritative enough to still be heard, but all could tell that his tone was becoming solemn. "Two nights ago, while inspecting the clan ledger, Jerrick was found dead in the meeting room. He was poisoned."

There were a few gasps from the crowd, many looked about in fear. Before Oswall could continue, the murmurings returned. Oswall had to strike his axe on the stone twice more to quiet everyone.

"I know this may seem sudden. Many of us knew Jerrick well. He was respected, wise, and canny. Our community is lesser for his loss. Many of you may still have questions, we will attempt to answer them as best as we can. Darahil?" Oswall turned his head to Darahil and stepped back.

Darahil nodded and stepped up to address the crowd, taking a breath in. "The death of our leader, especially in circumstances as these, brings about several obvious questions. As for the culprit of this crime, the champion Meesei and her pack volunteered to investigate as a neutral group, free from the vested interest of any of us lieutenants. The champion has been gathering evidence and has brought a case against our companion, Harriet. Before we start to-" Darahil was all of a sudden drowned out by a building outrage in the crowd.

Oswall had to step forward to strike the stone again and shout at the top of his lungs, "SILENCE!" The command of Oswall's voice was surprisingly effective.

"...as I was saying," Darahil continued, "Before we start to point fingers, note that at this stage none of Harriet's pack members, or indeed anyone else, have been implicated in the crime. Most crimes are arbitrated by us as leaders, but given the circumstances a public trial will be held. Starting tomorrow, all events in the main chamber will be cancelled for the trial to proceed. The judges will be made up of confidants picked from the entire clan, trusted by all and free from agendas conflicting with justice. There, evidence will be heard for and against the accusation against Harriet. Harriet will be given the opportunity to defend herself. There, the guilty and innocent will be revealed. Other matters, most notably matters of succession and Jerrick's funeral, will be decided later. The reason for this will be explained by Jerrick's wife, Vera, with the most important message of all today." Darahil glided back from the balustrade and looked at Vera expectantly. "Just as we discussed, Vera," Darahil reminded her.

It took a few seconds for Vera to muster up the courage to confront the crowd, but she managed a strong posture. Her tone took a moment to get loud enough at first as well. "I...I know that many of you may be angry, or upset, or suspicious in this. Probably all three. It should be known, though, that whoever...killed my husband...this was their plan. We have grown large enough that many of us would sooner divide ourselves in fear than stand united against our enemies, but I must beseech all of you, this is not the time to hate. More than ever, we need to stand together against those who would see us scattered and picked off. Our strength is in our numbers, but also our resolve." Vera had a hard time keeping her voice level at this point, "I know that the last thing Jerrick would have wanted would be to see this clan broken. I knew him better than anyone else. As a person who loved him, who by rights should be the most upset, the most angry - as well as one of your leaders - please," Vera licked her teeth nervously and held back her tears, "I need you all to honour Jerrick's will, even in his death. Stay together. Do not fall for rage and retribution. Justice will be served without our destruction. Thank you." Vera shakily raised a finger to her eye and wiped away a gathering tear before it could fall, but her grief was evident on her face.

In an odd display of empathy, Darahil stepped up beside Vera and gently took her shoulders. His face was still a stony scowl, but Vera hid her face against his shoulder as he silently gave her permission to let loose her emotion. With a couple of steps, he guided her away from the forefront to be replaced by Oswall. Oswall placed both his hands on the balustrade and leaned forward slightly. "Anything administrative can be discussed with us later, but for anything else, are there any further questions?" Oswall asked the audience.

Still with Vera lightly sobbing against him, Darahil turned his head to Meesei. "Was there anything you wish to add?"

The first question posited to Oswall was one from a bearded Nord near the front. "Who are the judges going to be?" Oswall turned his head slowly to Meesei to confirm with her.

There was no way that such an announcement could ever be considered a pleasant affair, but altogether, it was not going as badly as it could be. The initial reaction, as expected, was one of surprise and confusion. The shock had still not worn off from the crowd, and many were likely going to be afraid for the future, but none had turned particularly aggressive just yet, even among Harriet’s packs. Although, anything could still happen.

The speeches that the lieutenants gave presented the kind of message that Meesei had been hoping for, but only time would tell how much it helped. Likely, they would have to keep reinforcing the idea that they should stand united to their respective packs for the idea to truly set in. For the moment, however, it was time to address the clan’s questions and concerns, which would likely be more difficult than Meesei would like. She needed to answer as much as she could, but there were some details that still had to be withheld until the trial. For instance, the first question, as understandable as it was that the Nord would ask it, was not something Meesei could divulge at the moment.

Meesei stepped forward to the railing of the mezzanine to give her answer. “As Darahil explained, the judge or judges will be trusted individuals who can be entirely independent in this matter. Unfortunately, I am afraid I cannot yet disclose who specifically these judges will be until we are closer to the trial in three days. We want to ensure that our judges cannot be influenced, or even intimidated, before the trial begins, as we wish for it to be as fair as possible. What I can say, however, is that, since we were involved in the investigation, neither myself nor anyone in my pack will be judging Harriet in her trial. Understand that secrecy is not what we want, but unfortunately, it is necessary in this case.”

There were a few murmurs from Meesei's answer. Most understood the point behind the secrecy, but some still appeared to be distrustful of Meesei choosing the judges.

Oswall pointed out to another raised hand. This time it was from a human further back. It was difficult to see her features from such a distance, but she had a young voice. "How is the new leader going to be picked?" She asked.

"For those that do not know," Oswall took a breath, "A successor is normally chosen before the death of our leaders, normally by our leaders. As Jerrick was in his prime, death came unexpectedly and he did not officially name a successor. The champion shall assist us in selecting a new leader after the trial as she is Hircine's hand." Oswall turned his head towards Meesei, "Do you have anything to add?"

Meesei gave a brief nod to Oswall before turning her attention to the crowd. "You can be assured that Jerrick's successor will be one of your own, likely one of the lieutenants. Succession will be a top priority after the traitor, whoever it might be, has been charged, along with Jerrick's funeral. We would decide this sooner, but it would not be appropriate to do so before the trial has concluded." She explained.

Meesei did not know for how long she would need to remain to answer questions, but she stood ready to answer them for as long as required. Keeping the peace amongst the clan's members was the ultimate goal of this announcement, so putting to rest whatever concerns and fears they had was worth the time required.

The tail end of Meesei's answer was slowly interrupted by growing murmurings in the crowd from the news. It didn't appear as though there were any more questions, but obviously the new information had everyone talking. As soon as Oswall was satisfied that there was no one else to answer for now, he turned around to the rest of the lieutenants. "I believe that will be all."

Darahil still held Vera to his shoulder in comfort, but added his own opinion. "We should mitigate further concerns from up close. We need to be among them. Vera, will you be alright?"

After another moment, Vera pulled back and started to wipe her puffy eyes. She had clearly bottled up a lot at this point, but somehow she was quickly recovering. She spoke in spite of a blocked nose. "I think...I think I need a short while," She sniffed loudly, "I am sorry. I tried to stay composed..."

"Vera, I hardly think grieving for your husband undermined what you said. In fact, I believe it helped you message," Oswall said bluntly, before turning to Meesei once more, "Darahil is correct, however. Our words would best help our packs face to face. I'm sure you understand."

"Of course." Meesei responded to Oswall with a nod. "Do all you can to keep the peace. I need to finalize the final pieces of my own investigation, after which I will return to guarding Harriet until the trial. For this, I would like to ask for your assistance, or rather that of a few members of your packs. I want to perform another test to reinforce the credibility of the test we performed to determine the time of Jerrick's poisoning. For this, I believe it would be appropriate to have members of each of your packs, including Harriet's, present so that no one can say the results were falsified. Preferably, I would like the members of this group to be familiar with alchemy. I understand that Darahil's packs seem to specialize in scholarly pursuits, but this is quite a large clan with many members. On that fact alone, I would guess that there are at least some individuals among other packs who are reasonably experienced in alchemy. Is this the case, and if so, could you have these people sent to me? I will ask Harriet separately for her representative." She requested.

Meesei wanted to stay with Harriet personally as much as possible, but this test needed to be performed. If Harriet wished, she could join Meesei in witnessing the test. Currently, Ahnasha and Lorag were guarding Harriet, while Rhazii was with Fendros and Sabine. After each of the lieutenants separated to be among their people, Meesei intended to collect Sabine, and likely Rhazii, while the others returned to guarding the lieutenants.

"It will be done," Darahil answered immediately.

Vera sniffed and and raised her head to Meesei, facing her fully. "I know of a few in my packs."

Stroking his beard and staring up at the ceiling, Oswall tried to think of a candidate. "I am unsure. There may be one or two. I will have to have a look." He paused his thoughts to continue. "I will ask my alphas. We shall send them to the scholar's loft as soon as we can."

"Will that be all for now, champion?" Darahil asked. He stole a glance at the crowd that had parially dispersed. There were still many people murmuring, doubtless about the future. All of the lieutenants were anxious to make sure that none of that future was painted in blood.

"Yes, I am sure we all need to get to work. Let me know if you hear anything important, and stay safe." Meesei answered before taking her leave of the lieutenants. First and foremost, Meesei located Fendros and Sabine, who were waiting nearby so that Fendros could quickly re-assume the role of guarding Oswall.

"Fendros, Sabine, I need to speak to you for a moment. Even with the news of Jerrick's death now public, there is still more I need to do in the investigation. Sabine, you recall the test you performed on the poison to determine when it was consumed? I would like to test it again under the observation of members of each of the lieutenants' packs. Fendros, since you still need to guard Oswall, we can take care of Rhazii. Ahnasha is currently guarding Harriet, so I will likely give him to her once I take over for her." Meesei explained.

Sabine wasn't exactly ecstatic as she nodded to Meesei's request. The last time was a very delicate operation. Sabine answered slowly. "It will take time. If Carana can help me again, I can test the water again." Sabine glanced away, nervous, "There isn't much of it left, though."

Fendros, on the other hand, had no qualms. "Of course," he replied attentively, "You are heading there now?"

At this point the lieutenants had strode away down the corridor to address their packs. Without them around Meesei, some gave her, Sabine, and Fendros odd looks. Some of them were slightly hostile.

From where he stood, Fendros regarded the looks with concern. "Call me paranoid, but I get the feeling that our welcome has been...badly influenced by the announcement."

"I am sure the trial with give all of the explanation needed for most of them on our involvement in this, and the lieutenants will likely explain to anyone who asks why they do not suspect us. If anyone questions you about it, you have permission to explain the evidence supporting the fact that none of us are guilty, but do not give away anything else relating to the investigation, if you can." Meesei instructed as she took Rhazii. The loud murmuring of the crowd seemed to be upsetting the child, so she had to make a continued effort to keep him calm. "I suppose we should all get to work. Hopefully, we are nearing the end of this terrible affair."

Meesei and Sabine separated from Fendros and they went to their own tasks. Harriet had been left under guard close to the dining chamber, so it did not take long to reach her. As soon as they approached, the stressed Rhazii started to whine and reach out to his mother, so Meesei quickly handed him off to Ahnasha. The boy was generally comfortable with all members of the pack, but there was no one who could calm him like his mother and father.

"The announcement has been delivered, Harriet. You should have been able to hear it from here. Right now, there is something I would like to do that you may want to be present for. I recall you questioning the veracity of the test we performed on the poison, so I would like to perform another to confirm or refute the results. If it turns out that the test was inaccurate, then I will retract my accusation of you as the traitor and continue the investigation. I have mentioned this to the other lieutenants, and they are sending members of their packs with knowledge of alchemy to the scholars' loft. Would you like to join in this?" Meesei asked.

Without much but her thoughts in the empty room she was placed in, Meesei found Harriet sitting against a wall with one knee raised supporting one of her arms. She only shifted her bowed head slightly to look at Meesei when she entered.

"Got nothin' better to do," Harriet mumbled sourly as she slid upright and stretched one arm. She cleared her throat before walking to the exit.

It took a little while for representatives from the various packs to come up to the scholar's loft. Carana had to be found as she was still amongst the crowd after the announcement, but she had no objections to helping perform the test again, especially now that its full significance was apparent. All up there were about seven extra people in the loft witnessing as Sabine and Carana went about setting up the human heart in the flask again. One of which was one of Harriet's alphas. Sabine made sure to add lycan blood promptly this time.

Once the delicate procedure was done and the poison was added, there was an awkward silence where the witnesses sat on chairs found around the place. There were a few questions about the mechanics of the test that were steeped with alchemical jargon, but Carana was able to answer most. Sabine had her attention locked on the flask, nervous about making a mistake in front of everyone, so she only answered questions with scant words.

Roughly two thirds of an hour of waiting was interrupted by some isolated shouting coming from the halls below. About a minute later, Fendros came leaping up the steps to the scholar's loft with a dark expression as he caught his breath. "Meesei, Caleb has shown himself. You will need to come down, I think." Fendros' face told of a more severe situation than just his words implied.

All of the participants in the test were warned of how long it would likely take, though the importance of the test meant everyone was willing to put up with the ensuing boredom. There were questions periodically about the test's mechanics, but mostly there was silence as the group waited. Meesei was just starting to begin meditation when she heard the muffled sounds of shouting downstairs, followed by Fendros rushing into the room shortly afterwards.

Meesei shot up from her sitting position and immediately looked to the others. There was only a brief pause to think before she responded. "Stay here and continue observing the test; I will go with Fendros and see what is happening." She instructed. Her words were directed more towards her pack, and the assigned witnesses rather than Harriet. She had not specifically offered for Harriet to follow, but if she wanted to join, Meesei would not stop her, though she would make sure Lorag joined them as well.

"Fendros, what is going on?" Meesei asked quickly and seriously as soon as they stepped out of the room.

Harriet wasn't sure what to make of Fendros' arrival. She looked at him with crossed arms and a confused low brow. She didn't end up following Meesei out without clear permission to do so.

For the most part, Fendros focussed on walking quickly though the corridor ahead of him alongside Meesei. He spoke without looking at her. "It was sudden. I was keeping an eye on Darahil and Oswall while they were answering questions. Oswall took leave for a moment to use the latrine, but before he left the dining chamber, there was a shout and...and a silver knife. Caleb struck out and wounded him, Oswall I mean. Everyone fell on Caleb and kept him down while he thrashed about. They took the knife off him. Oswall, he's...healers are tending to him, but it's not looking good."

As the two approached the spot in the dining chamber where the incident happened, the shouting became dominated by a boy's voice, hardly broken yet. "He killed him!" Caleb's voice shouted, however constricted by emotion. He repeated himself over and over, "He killed him! He killed father!" The atmosphere they walked into was one of fear and haste.

People crowded around two scenes, one was where Oswall lay face up on the ground with his blood pooling and spreading over his clothed on his side. His hands were as bloody where they clutched his wound. A silver knife covered in blood sat a couple of feet away. Already several people were surrounding Oswall with golden healing magicks glowing from their hands in an attempt to stabilise him.

The other scene was of three large, sure-handed lycans in their beast form that held the body of a familiar Redguard boy against a wall of the chamber. His thrashing and resistance did him no benefit, but he didn't give up. Tears were streaming down his face as he continued to shout. "Father's dead and he killed him! He poisoned him!" Upon closer inspection, one of the lycans pinning Caleb was none other than Vera. She was murmuring calming words to Caleb in an attempt to soothe him, but they were being drowned out by the shouting. There was worry in Vera's eyes as she continued to try and calm the boy.

Meesei started to rush more quickly as Fendros explained the situation. As they entered the chamber, Meesei pushed her way through the crowd until she could see Oswall. Just as Fendros had described, he was badly wounded by the silver, with blood pouring from the wound. She heard Caleb's shouting as well and saw who was holding him back, but the priority at the moment was Oswall's health. Having no time for politeness, Meesei pushed her way to Oswall and knelt down next to him.

"Let me see the wound." Meesei ordered, her tone not aggressive, but firm. He was bleeding terribly, and for a werewolf, silver greatly reduced the effectiveness of traditional magical healing. Still, she had options, though nothing was a guarantee. "Bring me a welkynd stone, I need the energy." She ordered as she began her treatment. The other healers had, and were continuing to use restoration on him, but the silver was hampering their efforts. As such, Meesei took a...rougher approach. She used restoration to peer into his body and feel the injuries, then used precise telekinesis to pull together severed blood vessels. From there, she had to physically reach the end of her claw into the wound, then use a small amount of fire to cauterize the outside of the blood vessel to bring it together. She repeated this for the major blood vessels which had been damaged, but beyond that, there was nothing more she could do other than contribute her own restoration energy to the healing effort. Meesei believed she had helped his chances, but by no means could she guarantee that she had saved him.

As soon as Meesei had finished the focus-intensive work, she looked up to Caleb, who was still pinned against the wall shouting. "Caleb!" She yelled forcefully to grab his attention. "I understand what you are saying, but right now, I need your focus. If you are so certain of his guilt that you are willing to do this, then you must have proof. I need that evidence, Caleb. Calm down, concentrate, and tell me what you learned."

The healers around Meesei and Oswall glanced at each other in equal parts worry and wonder. None of them dared to question the champion in such a tense situation, but the initial shock at seeing steam bubbling from Oswall's wounds was alleviated as they found that he was beginning to stabilise under their combined power.

The time it took for Meesei to treat Oswall with her advanced healing techniques was thankfully enough for Vera to reduce Caleb's hysteric shouting to a pained sobbing. He peered over to Meesei past swollen eyelids when he heard his name. Everyone gathered around looked to Caleb as attentively as Meesei did, eager to hear what he had to say. After another two breaths-worth of quiet crying, Caleb found some words. "It was when they taught the control techniques...Oswall knew that father would drink then, he had to." Caleb struggled not to stutter in his state. "He was nearby, the water skin would be left alone. It was the water skin that was poisoned! He wanted father dead because father thought Oswall's mistrust was a threat! It was him! He killed him!" Caleb began to escalate again and Vera tried soothing him once more.

"Champion, if I may." Just behind the front of the crowd, Darahil spoke up, causing those in front of him to step aside and reveal him, "I suggest questioning Caleb in private, where he might be calmed." Darahil looked at Caleb and Vera, "Public words may serve a better place at the trial." Darahil's eyes moved to Oswall, "Not to mention, Oswall's life is in danger. I sent someone to fetch a welkynd stone, she should be back momentarily. I trust you have treated silver wounds before?"

It wasn't even half a minute before an Imperial woman in furs ran into the chamber with a large glowing blue stone in her hands. Everyone made way for her while she hurried the stone to Meesei.

"I believe you are correct, Darahil. Could you and Vera take him to a private room and give him a chance to calm down? I will join you when I can, but I am going to stay with Oswall for as long as I am needed." Meesei requested before quickly looking at Caleb. "I am going to hear what you have to say, Caleb, do not worry. But, this is not how we are going to do this. Whether you are right or wrong, the traitor will have a trial where all can witness their guilt or innocence. Afterwards, justice will be served; that I promise."

As soon as she had given her instruction, Meesei focused solely on her healing. Her nontraditional healing had reduced the bleeding considerably, but now was not the time to stop her efforts. Since she did not presently have access to proper bandages, she ripped off part of his clothing and tied it tightly around the wound. Once the Imperial woman arrived with the welkynd stone, Meesei set it on the ground next to her, then kept one hand on it while she placed the other over the wound. Drawing from its reservoir of magicka, she poured a powerful wave of restoration energy over him, so much so that the aura was plainly visible to observers. Silver significantly reduced the effectiveness of traditional healing on a lycan, but it did not eliminate it entirely. It was Meesei's hope that the sheer power of the other healers, and herself with the welkynd stone, would be enough to overcome the properties of the silver enough to save his life.

"Oswall, I need you to stay with me; talk to me. Tell me exactly what and how you are feeling." Meesei said, trying to see if she could keep Oswall alert and engaged.

Caleb was eventually calmed to the point where his mother carefully picked him up and began to carry him out of the room. Vera gave a parting glance of worry to Meesei before she walked out. Darahil followed close behind and soon the three walked out of sight, Caleb's sobs fading with distance. Confirming that the situation was under relative control, Fendros motioned for Kaleeth to follow and walked after his charge.

On the stone floor, Oswall was breathing painfully as he was when Meesei reached him, but it seemed that shock was keeping him conscious. "I've had a bloody silver knife barbed into me, how do you think I feel-ah!" Oswall grimaced as he slightly shifted his abdomen, believing that the healing magic powered by the welkynd stone had fixed him completely. He remained as still as he could from then on. "Just get me a blasted stretcher and take me to-hng...take me to a place where the surgeons can take care of me. You have work to do, champion." Oswall waved one hand weakly, "Begone!"

One of the healers, a blonde Breton woman, spoke up far less aggressively than Oswall had. "Champion, we have a chamber with healing equipment and raised tables that we use to treat severe injuries, especially silver wounds. With what you just did, I believe he will remain stable enough for us to take him there." The healer looked around at the crowd, "It would be a better environment than here I think.

Meesei nodded to the Breton woman. "You are right, he needs stitches, proper bandaging, and whatever else the surgeons can do. As well, a team of healers, or a healer with a welkynd stone for magicka, should be able to sustain healing for long enough to prevent complications from arising. This wound is dangerous, but it can be treated. I am going to stay with you until you are safely in the chamber, though. Caleb likely needs a few more minutes to calm down fully anyway."

Meesei's tone left no room for argument, so she continued to heal Oswall with a more sustainable pace for a few minutes until someone produced a stretcher. She paused her healing only briefly while the healers loaded him onto it, during which time she walked over to the bloody silver knife on the floor. Meesei picked it up, letting out a sigh and shaking her head slightly as she slipped it into her satchel. After this was over, she was going to attempt to make sure that all of the silver in the ruin was taken and sold, as it only served as a danger to keep it among them. If they were using silver weapons to fight undead in the depths of the ruins, then they could use the gold from selling the silver to buy soul gems for enchantments.

As the healers left with Oswall, Meesei joined them, motioning for Janius to follow. She remained by his side and continued to heal him for the entire trip to the chamber that the healers had mentioned. Once they had moved him to one of the tables and the surgeons could take over, Meesei finally felt comfortable enough to take her leave. She left the welkynd stone with the healers in case they required it, and gave only one statement just before she left the room. "Oswall, you have every right to be angry with Caleb. Certainly, I am not happy with him either. Just...remember, it was a rash action that put you in this position. Please do not repeat Caleb's mistake."

Leaving Oswall with that thought, Meesei returned to the dining chamber and asked around to find out where Vera and Darahil had taken Caleb. With how much of a scene this event had caused, it did not take much questioning to find someone who could point her to the right room. Meesei made haste to the room, locating it in a few minutes. As she stepped inside, she hoped that Caleb had calmed at least enough to explain himself.
