Putting us all in one group could work, if the threats we're dealing with are, like, gigantic camps full of people. However, that would kinda result in the less combat-ready characters getting caught behind.

It could be something like the fighting has already began and those with weapons at quick disposal are firing back as those who aren't have some time to get their weapons ready to join the fray.

What I mean is "what about the characters who aren't well-suited for combat?" Unless that kindly old scientist or that backpacker suddenly busts out ninja moves, they won't get much of a chance to shine in a combat-heavy RP, which a lot of "everyone's in a big group" RPs turn into.

Good point. Hmm... maybe its just after everyone was forced together after an attack?

I think this way gives a good balance as the combat-based characters can talk about how the fight was while the non-combat based characters can shine in their PvE skill, bandaging, doctoring, cooking and repairing stuff. Again, just an idea

Still:

Personally, the way I'd do it is to split the group into those whose characters are combat-aligned, and those whose characters aren't. Then, you give them separate objectives and locations they can head to. One, for the combat-aligned characters, will be heavy on the combat. The other will have a greater focus on non-combat skills, like a town in dire need of support or something.

Posting a cs oh and ClocktowerEchos the horse has been extinct since before the bombs fell you would be like riding a unicorn if you had one, which would make you a target.

As much as I like that idea, its usually not a a good idea for an RP to split itself up at the very start. It could be that some of our characters are meeting up in pairs or small groups in avrious ways. Some of us could just bump into each other on the road/shop/town and some of us end up having to work together to fight off bandits or deathclaws or startle each other as we're exploring a ruin

Would it be better if I changed it to pack mule/brahman? Or should I have a 4x4 ATV or Putin's War Walrus-Bear-Eagle thing of communism?

Along with horses i think mules went; but Brahmin, or a giddy-up-buttercup works, which is a tiny robotic pony.

There is no canon mention of mules and donkeys being extinct. In Fallout, you can find a recently-dead mule. In Fallout 2, there is reference to mare's milk being in good supply. In Fallout New Vegas, the Dead Horses obviously know that horses exist. In real life, wild horses are still astonishingly common out west. A nuclear apocalypse would cause some upheaval in their numbers, but if dogs and cattle can survive, a horse could too. To think that every single species of equid in America is extinct is, quite frankly, silly.

Chris Avallone comes straight out and says that while they might exist it would be like finding a unicorn, the man with the mule does imply that they did make it through, but in probably severely diminished numbers. Probably even worse than most animals, and NV breaks lore a lot but the dead horses could of found them in picture books man. Zion is after all a preserve.

Ugh. Avellone's a hack who doesn't understand how animals work. There's still a shitton of wild horses out west, even after decades of cull programs, and bombs hitting a few hundred miles away wouldn't really do much to their populations. There ARE horses out west, no matter what his disgusting "Noble Savage" fantasies say.

What's true in the Mojave Desert, an arid California, and Washington DC is most likely not as true in a state confirmed to have wild horses living in it, and with a somewhat-active horse-rancher industry to boot. Though I'm not sure how many wild horses live in Zhang's home of Atlanta, Georgia, it's totally justifiable for there to be horses (both wild and feral) in the post-war Carolinas.

@ClocktowerEchos@Orcus@clanjos Horse's would be around if rare, however I'm almost positive there would be a mutated breed of horse or pony. There's also an isolated island of the coast of North Carolina full of Spanish horses, it's far enough away it would probably still have grass and the horse's there would be alive.

I think I'll just say Zhang has a brahman-pulled cart as horses wouldn't be too common and he can't ride a brahman to save his life. Maybe a tiny jury-rigged motor cart could work if that seems viable, but I think I'm leaning towards the brahman cart

@ClocktowerEchos@Earnest Evans It will actually involve the group as a whole, see there's a lot of area to cover with two states being our playground and we will sort of need the group working as one. However once our resident Vault Dweller grows to trust you he may take you back to where his people have set up there own community. I'm starting with all of you for some reason or another being in the South Carolina town of South of the Border. I suggest everyone read the new additions on my first post.

@ClocktowerEchos While I laughed very hard at some of his gear I have to be the bearer of bad news. Seeing as this more of a 50's alternate future America so anime and videogames in general never really came around. It is a sad world.

When you say "South of the Border", do you mean the border is the state line of North Carolina?

Wait, I thought Fallout took place in 2300's with everything in a 50's style. By that logic, should everything that happened in the 1900s to 2100's exist?

I guess I can try and make it "fallou-versy" and have "Oath of Secrets: Shadowalker" and "¡La Fantoma!: Rising Sun" take the place of the games an manga respectively
