Wolf sighed and jumped back and then raised her hand. "Spirits all around, come to my call" The shadows around them jumped up and surrounded the warlock. She said "Last chance, Warlock..."
The armor took the rounds, but didn't break. He grinned, holding a hand horizontally, the tips of his fingers glowing. "Drak-Drake-Drag-Wings," he murmured his spell. "Dragon's Claw Laser!" A beam of light shot at the Reaper.
Wolf cursed and threw her hand up. Her shadows wrapped around them and shielded them, but Wolf was supporting it. She cursed again, fighting to hold it up. "Rex...get ready to fire again..."
She nodded, panting as she fought to hold the shield. As soon as the blasts stopped she lowered the barrier and yelled "now Rex!" She raised him and fired, aiming at the warlock dead in the eye
The warlock raised an arm, creating a shield from dark blue light. He unlimbered a weapon from his back: a wicked-looking scythe. "He really was a Meister," Rex murmured. "I mean, who else nowadays runs around with one of those?"
Wolf said 'I have one...but I only use it in big fights...we have to end this now" She ran forward, pulling out her blade and locking it with his scythe. "Your coming in with us or your going down...which will it be?"
"I'll tear you apart!" was the only answer. The warlock charged, the black blade reflecting the sunlight. "Not if I beat you to it!" Rex snapped back, firing off a burst.
Wolf threw up shadows again and locked her blade with his, using her shadow to hold rex up and smiled. "Eat this, monster" She fired right in his face, there was no way they could miss
The rounds hit their mark, but the Soul Wavelength seemed... dampened? Either by the warlock's armor or magic, or perhaps even a similar soul, it didn't kill him. "I am no monster," he growled. "My name is Draconae!" He swung his scythe.
Wolf caught the blade with her free hand, blood dripping down. "You just made me mad, Warlock..." Her eyes glowed as did her blood as it dripped down. In her mind she said *Rex, draw from my reaper powers. He won't be able to dampen those...the blood is the link you need"
Right! thought Rex. As her blood fed him energy, he saw other things: memories, dreams, desires. Abruptly, his exterior changed; the parts that weren't gold turned blood red and black. So much power! So this is what it feels like to be a Shinigami!
Wolf felt the power leave her and she sighed, then said "Rex...any time now..." Her eyes glowed and she drew her death shadows around her, her real form almost showing as she glared at the warlock. "Your done taking lives, Warlock...your going to wish you had stayed on Death's good side."
Rex's barrel hummed as black and red energy swirled around it. "I'm gonna enjoy this," he said, and fired. Draconae was hurled back, injured, but alive. "He just won't die!" The warlock spat blood on the ground. "Not yet," he growled. "Not while I am bound by honor to serve Lady Arachne." There was a piercing wail from nearby; their fighting had disturbed a Kishin's slumber.
Wolf walked towards him, pulling her blade out and holding it to his neck. "I would start talking...or you won't be serving anyone..." Then she scream rang out and she sighed. "This is not my day..."
Rex's attention moved to a floating figure. It wasn't a spirit, but it looked pretty damn close to one. But when he looked at where Draconae had been, the warlock was gone. "Damn!" he cursed. "We'll find tinhead later."
The Kishin didn't answer. "That's her," Rex reported. "My nose never lies, especially about Kishins." He spoke louder. "Banshee, weare here in the name of Lord Death. Your soul is mine!"
Wolf ran forward, her shadows gathering around her. She aimed Rex at the banshee, breathing hard. She's as still powering Rex, some thing she wasn't used to. She said "Rex...she's all yours...."
Rex's reflection appeared on the slide, grinning, his eyes glowing like moonlight. He fired, tearing the Kishin apart, leaving only a soul. His smile abruptly vanished. "That was too easy," he said. The gun jumped from wolf's hands into the air, transforming back into Rex. He took the soul in his hand. "Bottom's up."
