This game acknowledges Dragonball, Dragonball Z and the movies associated with those two series. It refers to Frieza's Race as Arcosians and their home planet as Arcose. None of the games nor Dragonball GT are considered canon here. Much of the old is forgotten by the time this game takes place, such as dragonballs, Dende's Lookout, Korin's Lookout, Kame House, etc.

Last time on Dragonball: Final Hour...

Enter the Character Sheet!

A list of races, feel free to try and put forth your own or request a different one, just remember that pretty much everything aside from Earth is under the Arcosian Empire.

The homeworlds.

A list of guidelines for techniques and some examples.

A list of guidelines for those interested in the mystical arts.

A list of items, their descriptions and general/average prices, to be used as a guideline.

I saved this for last, the transformations!

Profiles up.

Since Tiamat will not be appearing initially (until a bit later), their profile is left blank. However, I will be sending a completed profile to @Thess so they can at least review it in advance.

Alright, I'm curious about this one. I assume it's been long enough since DBZ that most of the canon Z Fighters are now dead or otherwise out of commission, Piccolo being the obvious exception... everything's got a lot of explanation to it, it's all fairly clear, etcetera etcetera... I have a few questions before anything else, @Thess.

1. Would I be allowed to play as a Makaio (or Makaioshin, I'm not actually sure what the difference between them is in this RP beyond rank) of an appropriate power level? Given that the current reasonable level that PCs seem to be accessing is 1000-2000, transformations included, I think I'd probably want to go with a PL of around that level, so I'd assume there's no need to worry about making the character OP on account of the PL itself being comparable to that of other people; given that the average Makaioshin has a PL of roughly 40000, I'd guess that I'd end up being a standard Makaio if I did that, though so much the better if high-level PLs are allowed. Really, I want to see what I'm able to do with that unique ability they all get; I have several ideas, so I'm torn about which to use.

2. Regarding mystical techniques, what level are characters allowed to start at if they do possess mystic abilities? I'd assume Adept, maybe Master at most if the character focused solely into the techniques of a single school to begin with (given the five starting technique maximum), but would we be allowed to create a character born as a mystic Genius who's simply not had the time yet to push themselves into learning everything they can? Or is Genius-level magic reserved for, e.g., highly plot-relevant NPCs or severely overpowered GMPCs who only exist to be better than the PCs at everything?

3. There's a lot of stuff that costs a lot of Zeni to purchase, most of which presumably originates from Earth given the Earth-centric currency used to denote prices (though I assume external equipment would cost the equivalent in whatever currency the PTO uses for transaction). Would it be possible for a character to have stolen equipment for their own use, given sufficient inclination and lack of functional moral compass? The specific items I was thinking a character of mine might have stolen were the two Saiyan armour layers, an enhanced scouter (or two or three, in case one or more of the others get broken), and maybe a weapon if some way of ensuring it can be reloaded at short notice is feasible without stealing new reload capsules after every use; if in any way viable, and considering how a higher power level increases a user's strength and other abilities exponentially rather than linearly, a stolen Holograv Room might also be something to work into such a character's backstory, though I imagine that's perhaps pushing things a bit far in terms of how much power it grants a character over others, given its relatively exorbitant price.

I am indeed allowing players to choose to play one of the ten Makaioshin, Bloodlust and Avarice have been taken. In DBZ, the Makaioshin is ominously referred to as the Makaio Dabura's master, a sort of Demon God(with him being the Demon King). So, rather than the Makaioshin being a singular being, it is instead more of a structure-less council of Demon Gods(I took the number and basis for each from the Ten Evils of Buddhism). The Makaio, for the most part, chose to stay in the Demon Realm, while the Makaioshin decided to go out and play amongst the Mortal Realm.

I planned on assigning levels of mysticism based on the history and character sheet, like if a character has trained many years in a single school then Master is not out of the question. I did not plan on allowing Genius-level, only because it is often referred to as the level where Magic Materialization can create Dragon Balls, hence why I separated it from the rest. Still, if the character is designed well enough, I might consider it. (Basically, I can be won over on nearly anything, if something is truly written well and I believe the player won't abuse it.)

Well, I have no issue with things being stolen, though energy capsules are going to be hard to steal as Capsule Corp tends to keep them under lock and key. Once emptied, the capsules could be refilled with another technique. Also, yea I would prefer to keep the Holograv as something characters encounter in game, rather than starting with. Still, like I said, if it something is written well enough, I may give it the okay.

So basically, what I'm hearing is "write the backstory well enough, and you can basically have whatever you like in it for your character". Though with that said, if I'm being allowed to play a character with a PL of 40000 or so (I'm thinking Envy or Deceit, since that'd probably be the best justification for a demonic god to steal things), I doubt an object allowing an easy boost to a PL of 3000 will be much help without some serious upgrades/modifications, though the other stuff might be useful. Nice reference to DB's origins, by the way - Buddhist lore is a pretty cool thing in a series based upon it.

Now, since we're on that topic, I'll probably start writing my character up tomorrow... but before I write anything up, I've had two power ideas for a unique Makaioshin ability so far that I'd prefer to utilise over the others I've had in mind: a limited degree of time stop, as a way of "stealing time from others" and/or "tricking somebody into wasting their super attack", and regeneration requiring little to no ki use based on consuming the bodies of others for a more literal interpretation of envious or deceitful theft, in that it's somebody else's flesh and/or energy being used to heal up - either "your flesh is mine just like everything else you own shut up I want what you have" or "oh no, you chopped off my arm, boohoo woe is me NARMNARMNARM whoops, did I just eat your arms to regrow mine? *trollface*". I should also ask whether being able to sense somebody's energy without the use of a scouter counts as a technique that one needs to expend a slot upon - from what you've said, my interpretation is that you can only have a maximum of five non-physical techniques to start with, including a max of one level three ki technique and no level four ki techniques, and I'm not sure whether energy sensing would be level 1 or level 2, given that relatively few people in the series proper can actually do it.

EDIT: Or, for a variation on the latter unique ability, simply using the ki stealing mystical technique to fuel regeneration of that sort with the enemy's ki rather than as a direct power boost, with the physical option of just biting and trying to eat them... which would actually make the regeneration just a normal, if magically nuanced, technique. Huh.

@BCTheEntity I can maybe clarify a few of those points.

As to the racial ability concern - such as the scouter - are not things you MUST have. As you can see in @Thess' profile, they have actually removed some of their own racial abilities and replaced them with other things. They did not do so insensibly - there are established reasons why those abilities are not present. As for the regrowth ability, I'll simply point out that regenerating a limb has historically been tremendously exhausting in terms of Stamina for Namekians.

Energy Sensing would not even count as a technique, incidentally. It's literally just a utility.

Well, energy sensing in general, everyone trained to fight can sort of do, but just the very basics like telling that someone is a lot stronger or weaker. However energy sensing to figure out a more exact level of power or where a power is, like say what is required to use Instant Transmission when you have never been to the destination, is a trained ability. Therefore the former type would be Level 1 and the later Level 2. Utility based techniques are still techniques after all, not attacks but techniques.

I am intrigued by the idea of eating the flesh of your enemies to regrow your own, and/or perhaps even eating the flesh of others that have features you like and want to acquire. I think it is a great power for Envy, I personally see Deceit more as a master of illusions. I have to agree that using it for regeneration would still use up a fair amount of stamina, but would be more instantaneous and therefore more viable in battle.

Lastly, just some food for thought when designing the character, while the Arcosians are beings born really powerful and have never thought of training to get stronger, the Makaioshins are levels beyond that. They are gods of a realm of vicious demons, they have never had an equal (save for each other) and long ago grew bored with their realm. Ever since they have watched the mortal realm through their pool of fire and now are given a chance to be the director of that show they have been watching for so long. So now they are trying to each spread their own brand of evil in an entertaining way, both to themselves and to whatever servants may still be watching that pool of fire.

@Terminal I know that I don't "have" to have the racial abilities. However, the Makaioshin are functionally unique beings even within their own ranks, so in my mind, it's difficult if not impossible to justify removing their racial abilities for the sake of establishing a backstory.

@Thess Thanks for the info regarding energy sensing, and for the tip regarding how to play a Makaioshin.

To both of you, thanks for discussing how regeneration might be quite taxing; as I said, my plan there would be to utilise the ki stealing mystic technique to fuel the regeneration, which might then place it into the category of a normal technique, if I don't just go right for "eat them to steal their flesh and sometimes powers". I'd assume otherwise, at least for the Makaioshin of Envy, but there are facets of a normal technique in there that could be modified into a multi-purpose ability. If I do try to modify it into a power of the Makaioshin of Deceit... maybe its power involves creating illusory constructs that it can put some ki into to turn real at any time, including lost limbs? And I can see that having a ton of versatility, in ways that will probably end up being described in-story.

At this stage, I will note that you've both totally ignored my other suggestion regarding some sort of themed and/or limited time stop ability as the character's unique racial. I'm taking that to mean neither of you would really recommend it; I understand that such a thing could be very broken in the right hands, but I will say that it's not impossible for it to exist, given the precedent of Guldo for temporal abilities. As for how it's limited, maybe the character with that ability (which might not even have to be Envy or Deceit, maybe it's the ability of the Makaioshin of Pride or something) can't use it unless there's a certain amount of ki being brought to bear against them in the form of a sufficiently powerful energy attack, with a time limit of five seconds or so per stop, and yeah that now sounds like an ability Pride would probably have. Well, to be fair, I actually like the whole "illusions that can be made real" power a lot now, so I'll probably go with that instead.

EDIT: I've posted the first draft of my character sheet. Say hello to Luceptor, God of Deceit.

Updates have been made to Luceptor. All that's left at this stage is his current location, his personality, and his history. That... yeah, that shouldn't take too long, right? Assuming all his abilities are considered reasonable for use, and I don't see why they wouldn't be in terms of the setting's physics.

EDIT: Okay, so this is really starting to annoy me, but is anyone else seeing the Characters tab claim to have one more post than it actually does in there? Or is one of them, like, private to the writer only for the moment? Just thought I'd bring it up.

My fault actually. See, I actually double posted in there and you can't actually delete posts yet. So I zapped it.

Not the most elegant solution, but better than just leaving a second post out in the open that says -Null-, taking up space.

@Terminal Alright, that makes more sense now. At least we know what happened there, anyway. In any case, I've just got a few finishing touches to make to my character, and then I'll probably be good to go.

EDIT: And done, assuming the character isn't considered too overly powerful by the GM.

Hey @Thess, where are you? You've not posted in the thread for three days now. There's a completed character that needs confirming or what have you. Uh, mine, but... yes. Or, if Luceptor and co. are all considered fine and dandy, could we get some information about when the game is planned to start? How many players before it starts, or what date it's planned to begin on, or etcetera. And also some information on, for instance, whether we all need to start gathering together for the tournament or not, or when we'd need to start associating with one another in-game, or whatever. That sort of thing. Yes.

Sorry, I have been all sorts of busy lately. What extra time I have had has been spent on trying to finish my own characters. Also, I have been trying to wait for the rest that had expressed interest in this game before starting. I will look over your sheet some time tonight @BCTheEntity later today or tonight. I can say initially we will be starting out with pretty much just enough time for all interested characters to get to the tournament. I want to start the game this week, I get Thursday off, so I can probably get the opening post up that day.

@Thess Alright, cool. Thanks for the info, and I do hope everything has been written up to a sufficient degree of explanation in the case of Luceptor. Incidentally, I'm not planning on creating another character to play as myself at this point in time, but if another character needs to be created at any point, I'd likely be able to do so. Just so everyone knows.

Luceptor is accepted, I like the character a lot. I added my Glacial character sheet tonight and hope to get most of Pride's character Sheet done tonight, finish it by tomorrow. I'll start putting together the opening post over the week and get it up by Thursday.

That would depend entirely on how/if this technique (just like any other) has been passed on in the culture of each character. Goku had no idea until he trained with Kami, and later spread the technique to the other Z-fighters. Vegeta learned the technique (somehow) by watching them do it. Apparently Arcosians doesn't have it either as Frieza, the emperor of the Arcosians, is revealed to be unable to sense energy along with his entire army. Even later in DBZ it's not a widely known technique amongst the great fighers as Hercule Satan calls all ki manipulations "tricks" and his daughter doesn't believe Gohan at all about him being able to fly and do weird shit...

This leads me to another question about androids.
When the Z-fighters are fighting the androids in DBZ we are told that they do not emit any sort of ki-signal, not until they make an attack that is, which allowed Dr. Gero to escape almost the entire main cast, and allowed Android 18 to stay hidden from Cell even though he was pretty much right above both her and 16.
Will it be the same in this game? Or have someone figured out that Androids emitting ki-signals might be a tad easier to track if they go on a rampage?

@Thess: Cool. So I take it yourself and @Bartok will be controlling Glacial and Glacier as relatively important characters in the tournament, then? Also, I had an idea for an Arcosian character that I may or may not use: the son of one of the Arcosian lords who, due to his position in life, decides he shouldn't have to go through the hoops of transformation that his lessers do, instead pulling a Cooler and managing to gain precise control over his power level so that he never has to transform down from his true form, in the process unlocking a super transformation of some sort for himself. Would you consider that a good idea in this case?

Incidentally, since we're on the topic of Arcosians, a sexually-reproducing race with only a tiny population is not great for genetic diversity, especially when they're not only divided into four separate sub-populations across the planet, but also between those of mixed and unmixed ethnicities within each sub-population, the latter group (as the relative proletariat in this situation) presumably at least somewhat larger than the former in all cases. I presume some degree of gene randomisation is present in the larval sacs to offset this risk, but having said that, I'm actually curious as to how large each clan is, given a total racial population of just 100 or so. How many Arcosians count as being part of each "Pure" blood group? How many have mixed blood within each mountain, and to what degree have they mixed? On a similar note, do different clans go by different naming schemes, e.g. fire-themed names within the Red Clan where Blue uses ice-themed names? What are their respective cultures like, if they are indeed significantly different from one another? And so on.

Although that information is not displayed in their profile currently, Tiamat's ki/life energy cannot be sensed unless they are emitting some form of ki blast or ki technique. They don't even use ki manipulation for flight (since as it turns out Androids have a specific integral device they use for that rather than ki), and their energy does not flare up during intense melee combat. So yeah, for the moment assume that Androids cannot be tracked unless A. They go on a a ki-blast bonanza or B. A tracker is built for that specific android.

@BCTheEntity, while from a perspective rooted in historical evolution and cellular genetics on Earth would make such a situation seem strange (fun fact: You need at least 100 individual humans for short term genetic viability, and more than 500 for long term genetic viability in a single population), the fact of the matter is that these are alien lifeforms who are inexplicably born with metabolic processes that allow even the weaker ones to blow up planets (bearing in mind that Vegeta, at a mere 18,000 strength when he first appeared compared to the 25,000 Arcosian base, was fully capable of flash-atomizing the Earth). I do not think close adherence to evolutionary theory was considered when their species was being designed and, more pertinently, I don't think we should let that bother us.

To toss my two beans into the opinion pool though, from what we saw of Frieza's family - which consisted of him, King Cold, Cooler, and presumably either one or two unnamed inidividuals (Cooler is never referred to as Frieza's half brother, and considering the familial designations and behavior one presumes the species is not asexual). So it might be that a clan is simply a single generation of a particular family line, which seems the more likely theory given that general power level and unique techniques tend to be hereditary in this universe (between Humans and Arcosians alike). I'd guess with 100 individuals, that's enough room for ~7-8 distinct clans.
