@jasonwolf: Right? On another note, I've finished my homework and reading all these posts somehow. Procrastination rules! Writing responses now. I plan on making final edits tomorrow morning and responding to everyone who's posted so far, save Dawnscroll and those who haven't posted yet. Those who fit in the latter category will get their post over the weekend, when I anticipate that most of them will be ready.

@Dead Cruiser I was using it more for designating targets and groups. Also it could be converted to code so discussion could be had while others hear. Besides I could totally make an artifact that works like a radio if we need to go there. it's not that strange.

It's a bit strange for a ranger to have a specialized code language like that pre-made, though, considering that most animals can't understand English in the first place.

@DeltaVIt's ranger to ranger. If you are talking to animals you got some magic there already why need a code to disguise things.

What I meant was that, considering the majority of your average ranger's actions are going to involve hunting animals, it doesn't make a difference what you say to one another since the animals can't comprehend it anyways.

@Guilty Spark Technically all of our characters are anachronisms when you think about it. Though this would may not have the technology we have with 50,000 years they've had more time than us, so if anything it's ancient tech?

IDK this i was just a hair brained idea that popped in my head while on the metro.

Technology in this world is essentially frozen. Basically, no advanced or modern technology. All old-timey stuff, no actual lightbulbs or cars.

@ravenDivinity Oh yeah that was fairly obvious, but even then magic tends to do well at replacing many of the things we like to use today. Take two identical stones (very rare that) and inscribe them with a positive and negative carving. Then through a ritual the stone can become enchanted and any who talk to one can be heard from the other and vice versa. boom radio.
