Okay, cool!

Yeah, I know the usual reaction there about your locker room aspect. I was just wondering. All females is fine by me!

*Gasp!* Hater. XD I'm a pretty big fan of the series. Honestly, I've never gotten into Star Wars, have no idea who Willy the Wizard is, and the old-fashioned writing of the King Author tales has always put me off. Really, though--and I'm not trying to argue for her or anything, just stating opinion--these days, there isn't too much that has not already been done in one form or another. So, it's really about taking the old and putting a new spin on it. I'm one of those people who like a few of the more modern interpretations of old legends/stories, and have actually been capable of appreciating the work put into book-to-movie adaptations more as of late... you try turning a 500+ page novel into a 120 page script. The movie is never as good as the book, but there is still an art to it. Though, that's something else entirely... aaaaand I'm rambling.

Oh, awesome. I look forward to seeing your orphan character post, then! It will probably also help with interacting, since they'll probably know each other to some extent, and our main dracons would probably have some kind of record of them, anyway.

Dang it. I forgot. So, how about 170 or so, maxed out at 200 with some kids hunkered on the floor instead of cots?

I like the coin titles and ten-to-one.

I have an idea, then, for the underlying cause, and a generic sort of plot that could happen for some of the orphans and maybe Arjun, if you're up for it. So, what if the wars, beneath the surface, is, as you suggested from a mix of an ancient conspiracy and a bit of a druidic (or other magic creature... Is "druidic" an actual word, do you know, or did I just make that up?) prophecy? Say, like, five young people who are descendants of the first five great nations of their world will rise up against all odds and bring a peace to the land, a peace in which those five young ones will rule over the people? (1) A human with the heart of a true hero and warrior, (2) a dracon (Arjun?) with great strength and honor, (3) a halfling with uncanny stealth (maybe my unnamed boy?) and the ability to notice even the smallest of details, (4) a lizardfolk with cunning on his/her side, and (5) whatever my younger character ends up being (I'm still somewhere between a different spin on a half-breed of sorts, and an elf) who is strong in magic. Then, on the other side, maybe the orphanage itself could come under attack, since they have such a large gathering of each of the races. The arrival of my other character could be an inciting event. In a way, all that would also kind of split it between the normal daily dealings of the orphanage with that daring, life-altering adventure I'm fond of. Let me know what you think. I won't take offense either way, or anything!

170 or so is good. No need to have them on the floor. lol.

I tend to avoid prophecies in these stories, except to subvert them and hard. They railroad the plot if they are followed. Still, having a representative of each race do something would be a good idea. Just no prophecy, please. A daring, life-altering adventure is a good idea. In fact, just about everything you described sounds good, except for a prophecy. Or anything involving a "chosen one", unless the idea is to subvert it (like, he isn't actually the chosen one because there is no such thing as a chosen one). There are more than five races, though. At the orphanage alone we so far have humans, kobolds, lizardfolk, dwarves, halflings, and elves. That's six. We might have also mentioned goblins at some point, I'm not sure. That said, Arjun and the unnamed one seem like a possible start to such a group. I wanted to do something with Jorn, though (he's also a halfling).

And I believe that "druidic" is indeed a real word, the adjective for something druid-like, or something that a druid would do or have.

*Gives you a thumbs up.*

I didn’t say one of each race. In the end, that would be a LOT of actual kingdoms, I think. Just that there were five original kingdoms run by different races. So, we wouldn’t need one for each race. I said five mostly because I that number for some odd reason. And it feels like a decent sized group to keep close track of, neither too big nor too small. We can still split things between the orphanage and our adventuring kids, so you could still do whatever you wanted with Jorn, especially in adding subplots. Because subplots can be amazing things, and would give each of us a greater opportunity to guide the plot while potentially keeping the interest and mystery.

I’m one of those people who likes when the actual PCs or main characters end up being THE people for something. When they’re “special,” or are the only ones who can fix something. So, do you think the following would be a good compromise? It still has that “chosen one” aspect, but no prophecy, just a magical and blood connection linking them all.

I decided to go with elves for my other actual PC, but there are two of them. Do you mind? If you like any of the above plot, only one of the two would be a descendant. The other’s adopted. And their profile is kind of long. If anything, I'll probably make something semi-official for Noname if we go that route, too. Because I'm OCD like that.

Sweet. Thanks for the info on the word! Good to know I used it correctly and all that.

As we discussed in the PM, something like this plot is fine. Just no fate or unavoidable prophecy stuff and it should be good.

Technically, in what I have, it's that these five just happen to fit the criteria/personality the original leaders had out of all the other descendants floating around out there, and the crystal knows it thanks to the magic it's been imbued with. But it didn't know it until it was actually needed, and it wasn't really written that it was going to happen, just that the leaders were worried that it might... so, yeah. :-)

@Aristocles
Sorry, my weekend (and Monday) didn't quite go according to plan. Heh.

So, I just about have my reply written up, but was wondering what age groups were put together for the classes. By single year, like in the American school system usually with few differences in age, or larger groups/ranges, like 5-7 year olds, 8-10 year olds, etc.?

Within two or three years each sounds like it would work.

Awesome. So, how does 5-7, 8-10, 11-13, 14-16, and 17-18 sound, then, with a couple actual classrooms for each range to keep a good teacher:student ratio? If going that route, do you want Aurelian to be in the same classroom as Nick?

That sounds good, a couple classrooms of each. And yes, Aurelian and Nick can be in the same class.

Sorry for the delay. Now, I am about to post. But the delay was worth it; I got a new job which I think will pay more than the last one. If it works out.

Oh, FANTASTIC! Congrats! I'm glad you got that.

I'm starting to think we should maybe just start assuming that apologies for delay are implied, as long as we still keep in touch one way or another. Heh.

@Aristocles
How long in-game-wise would you like me to wait to do my inciting event plot post that introduces my child PCs (I can't remember if I mentioned it, but there are two of them. One is more the main focus and the other is more supporting, but they go hand-in-hand. Let me know if that's okay with you, since my brain doesn't want to remember, and my body's too lazy to go back and check)? My plan takes place after dark.
