Here is the thread for the RP! I'd have also selected "action" in the genre, if they had it.

A designated space near the front door where notices are hung on the wall for any of the orphans to stop and check, or even pin something themeselves. Often used to advertise job requests from nearby townsfolk, upcoming events, or missing items, and to always keep a reminder of the schedule and house rules.

It looks very good. Better than mine, actually. I shall have to get Serapis' CS up quite soon, with the same level of detail. Her name is "Thaya", right?

You can mention me if you want to.

We might want to discuss a few things about how the orphanage runs ahead of time. Specifically, what the races of the orphans themselves are and what are the rules.

Thayva, with a "v."

Alrighty. Well, what about only establishing like a few of the races of the orphans, and we could always add to that when we need to. I don't think all of the different races would matter to any extreme right off, would they?

Like we've said, halflings, dwarfs, elves, mages, shifters... uh... My brain ran out of steam there, I think. Heh.

Thayva. Thanks!

Might want to cut out shifters. Hard to make anything for people who can change into something else. And a mage is a class or job, not a race. Like Harry Potter is a human, but he was also a mage. Okay, they call them Wizards, but you get the idea.

How about we try dracons, humans, halflings, dwarves, elves, lizardfolk, kobolds, and goblins? Of those, halflings, elves, and dwarves would dress close to how humans do, but the others would dress differently. And halflings, being copyright-safe hobbits, wouldn't have footwear either.

As for the rules... A curfew, for sure, I would say. Like, in bed by nine and candles out by ten? Of course the no shoes indoors rule. Maybe add some nocturnal creatures to make rounds and keep the kids in bed or something. Fighting would be punished severely if done outside of training? Don't want a mad house, and with the mix of races, fights would likely be almost inevitable. And a strict schedule...

The mage thing I think depends on the story. I have a roleplay with a friend where we're considering them basically a race, and they would technically be mythical or magical creatures. In Harry Potter, she even makes the distinction between Wizards/Witches and Muggles, with a whole big thing about pure-blood wizards! If you don't want mages, though, that's fine. Eliminate the magic-casters... well, other than whatever the elves would be capable of doing.

I think halflings and hobbits are actually different. Halflings are short people with great stealth and agility and often associated with thievery, right? Hobbits are short, peaceful hairy people somewhere between humans and dwarfs who live in holes. But one of the joys of fantasy is adding your own spin to it all! So OUR halflings could always be sprightly, agile boys and girls who don't wear shoes unless they absolutely MUST to fit in in a human setting a bit better. And who don't live in holes in the ground. What say you?

Heh. Noctural creatures. Sounds like a good way to keep them in bed. As long as they are harmless. :D Fighting would be punished if done outside of training, and there would be a strict schedule. But there should be some nice things for the orphans as well. Things like a bath, soft beds, time to play, and some time with massage therapy. They will need that last one if they are going to be fighting and exercising a lot at a young age.

We can have them train to be mages, if that is what they want to do. But what I meant was that Harry Potter was a human who just happened to be born with magic powers. He was still human. I get your point, though.

Well, how about our halflings be like what you said, without hairy feet and who can use footwear but hate doing so and won't do it unless they have to go into town for some reason. Perhaps the children who dress in more could use shorts and sleeveless shirts, as opposed to what the dracons and kobolds and the like use.

Well, of course they wouldn't actually hurt the kids. Nocturnals who our dear dracons trust. Maybe they met them during their adventures or something.

Yeah, gotta have the fun stuff and down time. Because of funding, the orphanage itself could be well built with comfort as well as necessity in mind. To a good extent, of course!

First part there is pretty much what I said. XD Sure, if that works for you, clothes-wise. Depending on how much historical to fantasy medieval we want.

So, I have a picture drawn up, but wanted to ask what site medium I should use to be capable of posting it. DeviantArt or Imgur? I have an account with both. I mean, dragon people aren't uncommon, but since it's for this, I thought I would figure out which you would prefer.

What did you have in mind for what the nocturnals would look like?

It wouldn't just be for fun and down time, but it would also be useful for things like training and health. Like, if one of the children was hurt in a fight and had a sore back or something.

As for this one, it would help if we leaned more on the fantasy side. And maybe they could have sandals in place of regular shoes? I'm trying to reach a nice balance between what the dracons use on one hand versus modesty and practicality for some races on the other.

And either one is fine, but if I had to state a preference, DeviantArt, as I have an account there too and can readily comment on that site.

Well, we could always use some of the classics, like a vampire or two, and maybe some freaky form of a will-o-the-whisp that can take a glowing humanish form when it needs to instead of its glowing orb of spirit light?

I assume you're mostly meaning the therapy aspect? I was referring to the entire list, not just that one thing. Totally get the therapy! I think it's a good idea. :-)

Sandals sound good.. I'm assuming that where they are, they would not have snow?

Alrighty. Here's the link:

A wisp or something less potentially dangerous is a good idea. A vampire might go off and suck the blood out of a child. And then we'd end up with Quest For Glory IV. Just look it up. It's a classic from Sierra.

And yes, I was. Thank you for clearing it up with the list.

They'd have no snow where they are. It would be hard on the lighter-dressed races if they did.

Editing in a mention works. And your picture looks great! I fav'd it! :D

Just wisps works for me.

Should we actually make up a schedule?

Eh, they would just have to compensate and have winter wear and wood stored away somewhere. That's why I asked.

Thanks for letting me know about the edit! Glad you like the picture. I feel like it took me longer than it should have. Heh. I usually draw my dragons with the large scales on the stomach, so that was kind of a mix between habit and preference.

A schedule for the orphans? If you want to. Did you have some ideas? I can give some feedback and offer modifications.

And yeah, I draw my dragons with that segmentation, but not the dracons. That's just me.

I was just wondering if you thought we should or not. We could always play it by ear, if it would be easier. With that said, though, are we perhaps ready to begin? Do you want to post first, or shall I? Or whoever gets to it first?

Gotchya. Sorry! I don't feel like redoing it, so I'm going to leave it like that, if you don't mind. Pretend they aren't there. XD I updated the character profile with it!

We should work out a schedule first, determine what each race wears (we already know how dracons dress), hammer out any remaining details, and then begin. Either way, we should be starting soon. We can then determine who posts first.

No, it is fine. You don't have to redo your drawing. I like it!

So, just as a list of what we have so far (with a couple additions) that we want/need them to have... meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner), classes and training (perhaps in alternating days for the sake of a break, with each sort of race with different days?), free time, and massage therapy (perhaps this could be more of a strong suggestion to do in free time or after training instead of something actually required, or would that be a bad idea?). Did I miss anything?

*Gives a thumbs up.*

Well, they can rise early every day, have some time to get dressed (we can have them sleep in lighter clothes than they normally dress in, for some of them), go to breakfast, report for classes, have lunch, report for exercises (the classes and exercises would vary a bit by race), get their massages after exercising (once a day for them would be required, but any more than that is optional, is that a good idea?), then they have free time, and if they need more massage therapy, they can get it later in the day. Then they can have dinner, a bit more free time, then go to bed to be up early again the next day.

And they will have physical and educational test days every month. How about a physical examination day (sports, check-ups, tournaments) one the first of each month, and educational tests on the 15th of every month. And a few days off every now and then.

Wow. Where did you get the program (or site) to make this? It looks great!

Apart from one thing (they need time to take a shower or bathe or something) the schedule is fine. Any tweaks beyond that would be nitpicking on my part.

Now, we need to determine the species and gender dress code. Some species with relatively little visible differences between males and females (like lizardfolk and kobolds) could have the same dress code, but others would obviously need different ones.
