I was seriously seeing this mini plot of Quicksilver trying to wrangle away leadership of the X-Men from Cyclops because of his stoic nature.

I tried to experiment with colors in my last post. Not sure if will continue with that trend (especially since it was even hurting my eyes...).

Yeah I tried using them in my first Boomerang post, although honestly I wasn't too happy with the results! Probably go back to basic white in my next one! Speaking of which...

Part of it is the contrast with the background gray.

To be honest with me trying colours elsehwere I am probably going to bring them here, but I only keep them for main characters. I feel it can work very nicely, makes it very comicly.

Though I need to plan out my next Hulk post while waiting for a response from Loki for FalCap.

I use them in the Create-A-Hero RPG, but for some strange reason I never got into a habit of using them here. I might just have to experiment with the colors. Obviously, I probably shouldn't use them for all the characters (only main characters). Someone in the CAH RPG actually made a post that shows how each color would look in a post. Some colors are too dark and some are too light.

I'm just going to start using those white colours. Use a different one in every post! You'll never notice!

As a partly colourblind person you could use multiple different colours and I'd never notice.

I look at it from the perspective of writing for real, I mean you don't see different colors when you're reading a book. I see it as a sign of weakness (No offense) for a writer to use colors for different characters. If you write it well enough you can make it clear who is saying and doing what. I've had problems doing it in the past but it's been something I've been more careful about since.

I think it is more of a personal preference than a "sign of weakness". I really don't care whether someone uses them or not (although I would ask them to use something that doesn't hurt the eyes if they do use them). However, if we are comparing this roleplay to a book, it would be more apt to compare it to 10+ books that have been put together (and I don't mean book after book). This "megabook" would take the first couple pages from book A, then a couple from book B, then a couple more from book C, then maybe the next couple pages from book A, and so on.

I'm not really referring to a book in comparison to the role play itself but the writing everyone is doing for it. After all we all want to improve as writers in some degree otherwise why have our work be in advanced RPs where a lot is expected. A book was more an example since for it to even be published a lot goes into it (Unless you're a hack Twilight fan fic writer who happened to redo their story just a little and somehow became a hit because housewives wanted classy wank material.)

Point is I don't see how using colors can really help someone's writing skills out long term.

(I'm tired and probably rambling...)

Sure, it probably doesn't help out someone's writing skills, but unless you are relying on it to show who is speaking, I don't see how it can hurt. Books and roleplayers are different media in the sense that one is printed (or usually printed) while roleplays (at least play-by-post ones) are electronic. Color ink by nature is more expensive to use than pure black ink. Here, we don't have to worry about that. I don't mind it if it is not being used as a crutch.

I don't use it as a crutch. I use it to make my posts a bit more fun, colourful and comicy. This is a comicbook rp we are in.
