Inane wasn't too happy with his current situation as he made his way to the Earthly Gate. What did it matter if the Titans had resurfaced after all these years? Let them wreak havoc on the humans. They were a boring species anyway. However his father had done everything short of ordering him to go to Earth and investigate the incident. His uncle Zeus would also be sending a daughter and Inane was to assist her. Inane scowled at the thought of needing a Goddess's help. He figured that was the part that he hated the most about this ordeal. But his father felt partly responsible for the Titans escaping since they had been imprisoned here in the Underworld, locked away deep within Tartarus. But why him? There were thousands of lesser demons at his father's disposal so why had Inane been entrusted with the mundane task of playing detective with Little Miss Goody Two-Shoes? Hades had explained to him that Zeus required his brother to send a child of worthy enough caliber to deal with the situation. Inane released a frustrated sigh. He guessed that was his father's way of showing he cared. His twin brother Nec hadn't been chosen for obvious reasons. He was reckless and had an insatiable appetite for destruction. Inane at least could stay focused, regardless of whether or not he enjoyed the task at hand.

Approaching the Earthly Gate, Inane took the time to quickly disguise his demonic features. He could really care less about the fate of the humans above but Inane still didn't need the added hassle of trying to do his job while scaring the living daylights out of unsuspecting passersby. His deep crimson eyes withdrew into a more subtle pale green and his pointed ears rounded at the tips. His horns, wings, and tail also disappeared but Inane decided to leave his fangs. He didn't want to make himself too human in case he did need to scare someone later. Checking his reflection in the River Styx that ran alongside the Earthly Gate showed him that he was as good as ready. Before he could change his mind and say 'up yours' to dear old dad, Inane stepped through the Gate to Earth, already not looking forward to meeting Zeus's golden child.

"Are you really going to do this Julia?” A pale faced goddess with right white hair said her face in half of a panic but half excitement, “I mean it’s dangerous but you’ll be on earth!”

The blonde haired goddess with the pale blue eyes turned her gaze up as she finished washing her face. A bright white smile moved across her full lips showing her straight white teeth. She was the perfect mix of her mother Hera and her father Zeus. “I’m excited, it’s just a gather-information mission and you can only learn so much by watching earth. I can’t wait to ride on the trains and in the cars! See all the things that the humans have built without our assistance and eat all of their amazing food!”

The white haired goddess giggled at her friend before falling down on the couch. “So you’ve got a place to live down there in… what? New York City. And you’re partnering with one of Hades’ kids. Are you sure that’s a good idea?”

“I didn’t want to partner with anyone.” Julia said stepping behind a large changing curtain and climbed into her human clothes as she spoke. “Much less someone from Hades’ linage but dad insisted that I not do this alone.”

“I’m surprised Hercules didn’t…”

Julia had finished dressing and jumped out from behind the curtain and pointed at the goddess. “Don’t even get started with him! I told him no and I’m sticking with no. I want nothing to do with him, I don’t want him in my life and I’m pretty sure mom would kill him if he tried anything. Though I doubt my dad would be against his bastard highly recognized slash praised child and his prized child hooked up.” A full shiver shook her body as she wrapped her blonde locks up into a pony tail and threw her small backpack onto her shoulders and snatched up the two set of keys to the loft 2 bedroom apartment. “But that is a battle for another day.”

Waving to her friend she called out as she walked out of the room. “I’ll be back soon, this can’t take that long.” With that she ventured to the exit of the heavens. Taking a deep breathe she placed her hand on the archway, the archway began to glow, and soon the space between it filled with the imagine of the streets of New York City. “Wow…” She said softly.

“Julia?” A voice called out behind her. “Julia wait, don’t go!” The male voice grew louder as footsteps seemed in a sprint towards her.

“No, no no no. no no no no no!” She said quickly as she begged the portal to get solid before Hercules grabbed her and pulled her back from it. The gods and goddess each had opinions about this mission and Hercules had his about Julia going but, this was her mission, her idea and her job! As soon as the wall became solid she sprang through it feeling fingertips brush against her arm. The door disappeared behind her and she came straight into the human world stumbling and tumbling like a new born baby lamb learning how to walk. Of course, the blonde tumbles directly into someone. “Oh gosh I’m so sorry I…” Her voice cut off as she stared over at the man she had smacked into, his aurora was incredibly dark and even at the small distance between them their auroras clashed intensely. “Oh well… hello.” She said, her smile as bright at the sky. “You were easier to find then I expected. Sorry about that.” She had literally fallen onto her new partner and knocked both of them to the ground. Getting to her feet quickly she threw her bag back over her shoulder and offered him her right hand. “I’m Julia, let me help you up.”

Inane had just stepped through the Gate leading from the Underworld to Earth, the portal fading behind him in wisps of subdued purple shadows. Looking around at the tall brick buildings flanking either side of the alley told him he had successfully arrived in New York. Inane remembered hearing from some of the condemned humans how fantastic and majestic a city New York was, though he had never actually been here himself. Taking one look around was all Inane needed to conclude that he wasn't too impressed. All he saw was crumbling brick and concrete and the air reeked of sewage and pollution. Humans were an odd species indeed if they were content with calling a place like this home. Running a hand through his short brown hair, he muttered a quiet, "Might as well get this over with," before stepping out onto the sidewalk.

The deafening sounds of the city became increasingly more audible now that they weren't being muffled by the alley. Inane was no stranger to loud noises but these were different. Honking cars, people trying to talk over one another, street vendors shouting to get the attention of those passing by. Frankly, it was obnoxious. Inane was grateful he didn't have to frequent the human world on a regular basis. Gathering his bearings, he took a moment to decide where to start looking for the Goddess he was supposed to be partnering up with. A moment was apparently all he needed as a second later a bright aura barreled into his chest, effectively making him lose his balance and fell to the rough ground with a strained "Oomph!".

Inane didn't need to look to know that he found her. The blinding light that emanated from her was proof enough. Normally those that encountered a God or Goddess would be instantly calmed by their aura but Inane found her presence annoying. It might have something to do with the way her aura choked out his own, painfully burning away his shadows. Inane scowled at the concept that his bright cousins held that kind of power still over those of his father's lineage. The task he was sent here for just got that much more demeaning. He ignored her offered hand and instead pushed himself off the ground. "Apparently you're blinding yourself as much as you're blinding me. Do they not teach you how to walk where you come from?" Dusting off the dirt from his black jeans, Inane glanced at Julia briefly before averting his gaze elsewhere. "The name's Inane. Now, do you have any idea where we're supposed to go from here?" His father had avoided telling him much in a weak attempt to force Inane to work with Julia. Irritatingly enough, it was working...

So, he decided that ignoring her hand to help him up was a better idea. Julia looked down at her hand as if to check to see if there was anything on it that would cause him to turn her down. Shrugging to herself, she pulled her white t-shirt down over her blue jeans and kicked her white tennis shoes against the ground. “Sorry where I come from I don’t run through a portal very often. Much less get thrown into a whole new world.” Hopefully the question wouldn’t arise of why she was running but hey, she’ll cross that bridge when they arrived.

“Well Inane.” She said stepping in front of him to get his attention. “I do, and apparently I know more than you do right now so if you could try to talk to me like a partner instead of an annoying tag along. I’ll fill you in when we get there. We’re not too far away.” Her head rose and fell with a nod as she stepped past him and started off in a direction. As Julia walked, she did her best not to be too distracted with the sights and sounds of New York City but her attention span was obviously not very long because she would start to look around before realizing it and shaking her head. She had to stay focused, focus!

They arrived at a rundown broken building that few people rented out. Beat up parked cars out front and a rusty looking elevator. Climbing inside she stuck one of the two sets of keys into start up. She typed in a number saying it out loud. “1876” With that she hit the up button and the elevator began to climb to the top of the run down building. At the top, she pulled open the door and pulled out her elevator key. Down the hall they went and she stopped at the door at the end of the hallway.

Tossing the spare set of keys over her shoulder towards Inane she looked over at him with a grin. “This will be our home base while we work. Welcome to your home on earth.” With that she opened the door to reveal the apartment. The apartment had a gorgeous view of the city, two bedrooms, three bathrooms, a massive kitchen and the living room and dining room area. “For once he didn’t put giant statues of himself everywhere, that’s nice.” The blonde said with a nod before walking to the living room and sitting down on the couch.

Opening her backpack she pulled out some files and opened them setting them on the coffee table. “So here’s what I have, take a look.”
