Jamie Jones was one of the brand new scholarship kids here at Gordon Prep. The headmaster had told him in his interview that only 10 of the hundreds of scholarship applicants got into Gordon Prep each year. Many of the scholarship slots were reserved for those who had excelled in the scholarship program the year before, but there were always a few new scholarship kids each year.

At age 18 Jamie had only gotten in because he was a senior with 'special circumstances'. Jamie was transgender. The headmaster had personally told him that if Jamie made it into Gordon Prep it would probably just be because the committee felt he would be able to help 'broaden the students horizons'.

As Jamie walked down the hall to his dorm, suitcase in tow he glanced down at the papers he held. There was a map of the campus, his meal plan, his dorm number (221), about his dorm mate (who was a girl), and his schedual. All of which he had gotten only moments before from the Dorm Mom.

Elliot held onto his giant suitcase with both hands, his knees knocking into it every time he took a step. The sound of his legs pounding against the leather echoed inside his mind, the only thing keeping him sane. They let his poor ass into a rich kid school like this, he simply couldn't believe it.

Other newbies filed into the hallway he was in, along with the students who'd been there a while. They shoved past him, slamming him into the wall multiple times, but he held onto his suitcase the whole time. If he let go, he might just pass out right then and there. It was his lifeline at this point.

He trudged through the crowd, looking closely for his room number, room 147. He past 141, 143, 145, and finally, he saw his dorm number, the door already wide open. He swung the suitcase inside, letting it slide along the polished wood flooring. It was so polished, the suit case just kept going and slammed into the desk inside. Elliot winced, but he followed it in.

Inside, there were two beds, both quite lavish and expensive-looking. It seemed like just one of these beds would take a years worth of income from his old school to pay for. The beds were on either side of the room against the wall. There were two white desks between the beds sitting on top of a white rug. There was one giant dresser that had already been opened as well. There were dividers in the middle so that people could share.

One of the beds had belongings on it already, two suitcases and a bag. Nobody was there to claim it, though, so Elliot disregarded it for the time being. He picked up the case he tossed and brought it on top of his bed and began unpacking. He owned almost only button-up flannels, a few plain dress shirts, and a couple normal T-Shirts. He folded them and layed them out on one side of the dresser.

After he'd taken care of his clothes, he took the moment to take a picture. He aimed his camera at the dresser and clicked it, watching the little picture come. He took hold of his, shook it gently, and set it on the dresser.

"This is one journey I don't think I'll soon forget..." his smooth voice hung in the empty room.

Cadence had been setting up the dorm room for the arrival of her new room mate practically all morning. Her previous room mate had just graduated leaving the space available for one of the new arrivals. Every new year brought in a group of students that were there on scholarship. Candy didn't have any bad thoughts towards these people. She was raised to treat everyone equally no matter what walks of life they came from. However, she did feel bad for a lot of them- as they often we're bullied and looked down upon by some of the more pretentious students.

Opening the window up she let in the bright sun and the cool breeze. She smiled adjusting the hem of her jean shorts, rolling it slightly. She usually dressed a bit more classy, but since it was before class and she needed to get some cleaning done, she settled for shorts and a plain white tee. A big sigh escaped her lips as she plopped down on her own made bed. She wasn't given too much information about her new room mate but was hoping they were going to be nice.

Lonnie was with his father and the football coach shortly after dropping his things off in his room. Lonnie was not too happy having to share his room with someone. especially if they have nothing in common. His father managed to get him into the school a year ago using his connections and money so that his son could get the best education. Education was the least of Lonnie's concerns upon seeing the different females who were walking around in the school.

So far, Lonnie was not really impressed with the new faces that have shown up Gordon Prep and a few of his teammates were going to try and get reacquainted with him, which was sort of okay. After losing interest in the bullshit conversation his father and the coach were having, Lonnie decided to break away so to explore around the school to see which females he could woo or find the poor kids he could meet that he hoped will not turn out to be lame like the ones he met in the past.

His mother taught him not to judge people who are different but because of his fortunate rich upbringing, he at times feel he is above others that were not of the same class. he was a working process. he walked back to his room, which is numbered 147, to get his things out and put away until he heard noises coming from inside and went to check who it was. Turning the corner and standing at the door way, Lonnie looked on at who this individual was. Nothing really impressive about him but this guy was indeed his future roommate seeing how he was starting his process of making himself at home. Lonnie quietly watched with his arms crossed at the newcomer.

Elliot, who was looking staring at the picture that he'd just lain on the dresser, tapped his fingers against the wood. The tapping seemed to echo in the room, there was hardly anything inside yet. Just when he was about to continue putting things away, he heard a noise behind him, shoes on the floor. He turned around rather abruptly, startled by the person who stood in front of him.

He was clearly an athlete, obviously strong. If he had to guess, Elliot would say definately one of the more physically taxing sports, football, baseball, something like that. He could even tell that, not only was he an athlete, but that he was one of the rich students. He would've assumed that he'd be put with another kid from his economic class, but he was very wrong. The very presence of his, what seemed to be, roommate changed the atmosphere of the whole room. Immediately he felt much more small than he had.

All Elliot wore was a beaten up beanie hat, a poor quality, blue, plaid, button-up, a pair of khakis, and some worn shoes that he'd had for the past few years. His feet didn't grow very much. Everything he owned was fading, and these were his dress clothes! If he didn't want to stand out, he knew he'd need to upgrade. And he definately was not going to stand out, that was never on his agenda.

He focussed his attention back to the athlete.

"Oh, er... Hi, you must be my roommate, yeah?" Elliot's voice was was much shakier than usual.

It was a little amusing to Lonnie when the boy turned and was startled to see him. From what he saw, yes, the boy was indeed someone that came to this school through scholarship by the way his clothes looked. Smaller compared to him and a little awkward or geeky looking, Lonnie was thinking how he should approach this boy. Come of intimidating? cool and friendly? cold? rude? Instead of thinking about it, He would just react how he felt unless otherwise.

Wishing he was a fellow athlete, Lonnie gave a sigh to his opposite and lifted himself from leaning on the door frame, walking in when the boy spoke. I see nothing gets pass you.... Lonnie said walking in and closer to the boy. He sounded nervous from the way he spoke to Lonnie and took a moment to look him up and down Yeah, I'm your roommate. I'm Lonnie. Who are you? coming off a bit straight forward.

Elliot decided he would make an attempt to come off much less geeky or strange. He didn't need his roommate to know exactly who he was quite yet, they did just meet after all. He wouldn't want anybody to get to know him so quickly, but just by the way he dressed and his whole nature, it sort of happened a lot. He straightened up when Lonnie asked him about his name, and he spoke clearly.

"I'm Elliot. I uh," He tried to cover up his stutter by clearing his throat. "I guess I'm your roommate. I came here through the scholarship program."

As soon as he noticed that he still had his camera around his neck, he mentally cursed. Well, there goes that. God dammit, coulda been so close to getting on good terms with a popular guy, might've done me some good. Ghaaa, screw it, I s'pose I can get through this myself, then.

Lonnie stared him up and down to get a better read on him. His initial thought was correct, he was indeed a scholarship student. He noticed the camera around Elliot's neck and the first thought that came to mind were those awkward kids that took pictures of people but no one never notices them and just stands to the side looking creepy. Lonnie have ran into the media kids and photographers and...they have come off as weird. He felt it would be no different with Elliot which did not really put Lonnie at ease, thinking Elliot would watch him sleep or something.

Elliot huh? I can already see that you're my roommate how you were unpacking. But I see you have a camera. You're not part of that weird photography club that takes random pics of any and everything are you? I knew many awkward people who was in photography. Just making sure I won't have to worry about you watching me sleep or anything. I won't have any trouble or weird stuff from you, will I?

Elliot sighed at the sudden hostility. Surely Lonnie hadn't completely meant it as any rude remark specifically toward him, but he did feel a bit attacked. He was fully aware that he was weird, odd, and awkward, and embraced it rather than acted afraid of it. He may not enjoy being strange but at least he could accept it.

Elliot, while being more of a loner, knew many other photographers. He had never met a single extrovertive photographer in his life, and did know where Lonnie was coming from. But what clearly had not occurred to Lonnie was that fact that they were actually very nice people, some even the kindest he'd ever met before in his entire life.

"You shouldn't have anything weird to deal with," Elliot spoke quietly, but confidently. "Unless, of course, you count me. Yeah, I do take pictures. Yeah, I'll be joining that club. Thanks for informing me about that, actually, didn't even know it existed. Anyway, nobody takes picture of sleeping people, you don't need to worry about it, but I'll tell you now, my part of the room is gonna be covered head to toe with 'pics'."

Elliot was surprised by his own fiercness in his words, but he made a failed attempt not to show it. He felt like apologizing, but managed to keep at least that much down.

Lonnie usually though lightly or made fun of what he didn't understand or cared to get to know. He was like most jocks who cared about nothing but sports, girls, and their ride. What surprisingly intrigued Lonnie was the fact that Elliot stood his ground and with a bit of confidence, talked proudly about wanting to join that type of club and being a photographer. Lonnie took Elliot's word or reassurance about not being weird and taking pictures of him while sleeping.

Hmph....alright....but if you're gonna bring friends over, tell me in advanced and don't go through my things. and...pictures of what? he wondered. You got a girlfriend? he looked him up and down I assume you don't. but anyway...I don't know where that club or whatever is located. If you see me out in the hallways and I'm around others, don't call my name...I don't feel like having to tell my teammates about my roommate but if you're cool....I'll bring you a fresh piece of ass to lick your pole if you're lucky. Lonnie said smirking wondering if Elliot was a virgin or not.

Lonnie was trying not to be too friendly but he calmed himself after what Elliot said but he was trying to maintain some sort of social distance while with others present.

Elliot raised an eyebrow, not out of interest, but out of disgust. A person cocky enough to refuse to even greet him in a hallway was definately not a person he would like to be associated with. He had no choice, though, there's not really a way to get his room changed. And even if there were, he would be making himself look like a coward. The way he immediately took control of the room's rules also frustrated him. Perhaps the most infuriating thing, though, was his straighforwardness in offering him a "fresh piece of ass".

"Look, I'm going to be honest," he said, his voice slightly louder than before. "I don't want anything from you, anything. I'm here for an education, that's all. I take pictures of nature, landscapes mostly, every once in a while I'll shoot some pictures of daily things. No, I do not have a girlfriend, and I certainly do not want somebody to come "licking my pole". That may be your thing, but I think you oughtta respect woman, not offering them to your roommate like an object."

Surprised by the sudden burst, Elliot immediately let out a sigh. It felt good to let it all go, but it was a strange feeling. Never doing that again, he thought.

Cadence hadn't heard from her room mate yet, but the conversation across the hall was something that she had to raise an eyebrow at. The walls were too thin in this place, that was for sure. Sitting up in her bed, she decided to take a risk and leave the room to see what these two young boys we're going on about. Closing her own dorm room behind her, she crossed the hallway and proceeded to let herself in to the boys room.

"You two having some problems here?" she asked, a sly smile spread across her lips. She adjusted her shorts, hooking her thumbs in the belt loops and pulled it up slightly. "These wall are thin, and I don't like to bother anyone but.." she paused looking towards the two boys. "I will if I have to." she finished with an honest friendly grin.

Lonnie watched Elliot trying to set him straight. It was a little amusing to him in a sense. After saying what he wanted to say, Lonnie smirked and shrugged Tch...screw it, suit yourself...and to tell you the truth, most of the females I've run into already wants to do that stuff I mentioned...so...you go ahead and do your thing and I'll do mine. he said as he heard someone speaking up.

Not really concerned about conversing with Elliot any longer, he noticed a female speaking up. He looked her up and down and yeah...she was indeed a cutie. He smirked to play it off in response. Nah....no problem. Just the usual meet and greet here. And settling of the rules of the room. But uh....I wouldn't mind switch roommates though. he said looking at her I'm Lonnie...sorry for the noise. he said being kind the new girl.

Elliot frowned as he spoke about changing roommates. Sure, he wouldn't mind it, but usually people generally liked him. And he knew that this was no normal meet and greet, especially not normal. The rules of the apartment were less a democracy and dictatorship. He hadn't even spoken about the rules, despite the fact that he probably wouldn't want to.

"Sorry..." he muttered. That was all he could say, he'd used up all his energy thinking about how in the world he could speak his mind without getting himself killed. He was already on Lonnie's bad side, he didn't want to piss off another person, either. He just decided he wouldn't say anything at all. Leave the work to Lonnie, clearly he would rather it be that way. Lonnie had enough girls to "lick his pole", why not talk another one into it.
