As Jenso stepped back inside, he noticed that Paulie was now panting and dripping wet. He looked up at Jenso and then back down at his feet. Paulie stood up slowly and limped over to Jenso. "Hey," Paulie murmured weakly. He turned and looked outside at the half-dead golem with a half-smirk. "Good goin, kid."

Chapter 28

Elemental Appeal

Paulie fell forwards into Jenso, unable to keep himself on both feet. "Ahaha.. Not used to this kind of cold.."

"Paulie...hang on!" Jenso shouted. He created flames in his left hand, keeping it a safe distance away from Paulie but close enough to heat him up. "I'm sorry man...your brother's gauntlet was destroyed..I'm sorry for getting you involved into this." He said.

Paulie glared at Jenso's fire and scoffed loudly. "Magic, huh.. Didn't know you were one of those.. Haha.. It's fine, Jenso. It's all fine now," Paulie rasped, pushing himself away from Jenso and standing on his own two feet as his body heated up. "That thing was behind it all, huh..."

The golem boy was trying its best to reform its body, but with so little energy left, after expending so much to conjure such a massive storm, he could barely keep himself functioning, let alone whole.

"...Huh..."

Jenso glared at the golem and headed to the balcony again. "Come on, Paulie.." He said, walking over to the golem. "I'm not sure what we should do with him..I'll leave that choice up to you."

Paulie glanced at Jenso for a moment, and then back at the golem, before walking over to it slowly, clutching his lower abdomen. When he reached it, and looked down at its face, he cringed and placed a foot on its nearly annihilated body. "There's a sad sight," He spat, quite literally into the golem's face. The glob of spit froze immediately, and the bottom of his boot was slowly being covered in frost. He looked down and stepped off the golem immediately.

"My presumptuous attitude lead to this defeat, a sad sight indeed," The golem droned on, its voice fading in and out, "I feel like a human, to have erred so horrendously."

"Golems are no less flawed than humans, Gol-Ira," A serene feminine voice overtook the balcony, originating from the now-free meteor of Pharie. "Jenso? Orobo told me of your arrival... But I did not believe him when he said you could revive my meteor. He did not know of the golems..."

Jenso turned to Paulie as he spoke with the golem. "Careful around him.." He muttered, turning towards Pharie's meteor as she began to speak. "I'm glad I could help, Pharie! For both you and Paulie's sakes.." Jenso responded. "I don't care what I have to defeat...as long as I can help innocent people."

"He spoke truth of your spirit, Jenso. I am in your debt for restoring the balance to my meteor... But sorrow fills my heart to see that my people have perished at the hands of Gol-Ira's thirst for the arcane.."

"As it should be," Gol-Ira cut it. Paulie frowned.

Jenso turned towards the golem and threw him a deadly glare. "Shut the hell up." He spoke coldly, turning back to Pharie's meteor. "If only I would have arrived sooner.." He muttered.

"It is not your fault, Jenso. It was my own, for unleashing Gol-Ira onto its people." Pharie admitted. Paulie looked up in shock and backed away from the meteor. "I meant to create a defense for this village, to protect it from the dangers that plague the north, but Golems have always been an unstable elemental construction.."

"You did this?" Paulie questioned, backing away slowly.

Jenso frowned as Pharie admitted her mistake and looked over his shoulder towards Paulie. He was unsure what he was going to do, and he wasn't exactly certain if he wanted to stop him either. The man had every right to be angry at Pharie. He walked over to him and patted Paulie on the shoulder. "You saved my life, man. I won't forget that. Whatever you plan on doing now, I've got your back." Jenso said. He hoped Paulie didn't intend to attack the elemental's meteor. If so, he would need to intervene.

Paulie shook Jenso's hand off, but couldn't bring himself to really do anything. He looked down at Gol-Ira and clenched his teeth. "I know now that my village is gone, with no hope of survival. But with my meteor once again within power, I can work to restore balance to the north. I thank you Jenso.. And I apologize for the turmoil I brought upon your people, Paulie."

"That's fine," Paulie said immediately, loosening his composure. His eyes began to well up with tears and his knees buckled from the sudden onset of sadness. "I've spent too many years... Being angry over this... Monster."

"I am no monster, whelp," Gol-Ira chimed in. "I am one of the few who see truth in their actions. I move only to evolve. You village was a worthless speck, and I took great pleasure in eradicating its-"

"Shut UP!!" Jenso roared, slamming his foot down at the remainder of the golem. Rather then striking it however, he ended up ramming his foot into the ground mere inches beside it's head. "You put up a great fight, but you've been beaten. It's over, you'll never hurt anyone ever again!" Jenso spat, turning to Pharie's meteor for a moment. "...Assuming you can contain this thing, that is. I'd rather not kill it even after all it's done, unless Paulie feels otherwise."

"Gol-Ira will not be a danger to anyone without his primary Cores. His magical abilities are shot, and his ability to move has been stricken from him. He only has his mind now," Pharie explained. Paulie wiped his face clean and nodded.

"Let the stupid thing suffer."

"I cannot suffer," Gol-Ira quipped.

Jenso turned to Paulie and smirked. "Well, in that case, you can do with it what you want Paulie." He said, and turned to Pharie. "Well, looks like I'm done here...are there any other elementals that need my help, Pharie?" He asked.

"I'm afraid not, Jenso. The elementals differ in their approach to the planet. Unfortunately, Hyphim and Pragmatus, the last two elementals, do not wish to have their meteors revived. Beyond that, it is likely that their villages have suffered fates similar to my own. But I do have a request for you, one that I have discussed with Orobo in private as well."

"I would like you to come to the elemental shrine hidden in Aldariana, to the south east. It is accessed only by those who we allow access to, at the top of mount Aldri." she explained. Paulie looked at Jenso and then back at Pharie's meteor.

"You're inviting him to your uh.. House??"

"Sounds good to me!" Jenso shouted excitedly, eager to set out on his journey. He walked over to Paulie. "Thanks again for everything, man. I couldn't have done it without you...and the warbly birds." He said, sounding slightly sad due to the fact that they had been killed now too. "Take care dude." He spoke, and began to make his way out of the fortress. He headed south east which Pharie asked him to do.

Paulie looked up at Jenso as he took off, and stood up to wave him off. "No, thank you, kid! Good luck with uh, all that elemental stuff!" He shouted. Gol-Ira hummed impatiently and turned his head towards Paulie.

"Good luck, Jenso. I await your arrival, Jenso. I and the other elementals all will!" Pharie shouted, stopping the entire blizzard across the land. She simultaneously froze the lake solid, making sure Jenso wouldn't fall prey to the monster within. "Travel safely!"

Gol-Ira thought the recent occurrences over in his core as Jenso disappeared into the distance.

"You will fall before the oncoming darkness within the elemental court, foolish child. Soon you will realize your faulty path."
