Premise
Okay, so you're an immortal that has lived for five hundred years, and seen much in the way of one human causing misery to another, subjugating not just their own kind, but animals too - using anything to get ahead and gain power. In short it is not too unlike our world in that respect. Where this is different, is that immortals exist, only these have a definitely Highlander-esque flavour to them. Now there are other beings that exist within the world too, vampire, werewolves etc, but they have far more in the way of negative drawbacks than you.

Now before we begin, you can forget all the stuff you've seen in highlander, we're not following what happened in that universe - this is all new, with different protagonists and antagonists, very similar rules, but there are far less preternatural beings in the world than seen in Highlander, or most other urban fantasy type games. In short, there are fewer than a hundred immortals, and maybe about five thousand others (including vampires & werewolves). This is significantly different in that the power level - we're not limited by tv or film budgets are for won't of a better word. This will be more gonzo and than manic than anything seen in that other canon. The nearest they got was Duncan Macleod's fight scene Highlander 4 where he fights that Chinese immortal. No, this is far more fun, and I expect greater antics and daring-do by the protagonists in this.

While the power level is far, far higher, you will not be jumping off any mountaintops and expecting to walk away from it, neither unharmed nor unscathed. That said, you'll be performing feats and antics that would leave the authorities, should you end up on the wrong of them, and you will, scratching their heads and virtually powerless to stop you, unless you actually cause them to start bringing in huge SWAT teams, then you may have a problem.

Now the aim of this is to survive into the 23rd Century, and you will not just to be stuck on planet Earth - all of the time, you will be visiting other dimensions and stuff. Oh, and players talk among yourselves about how you all know each other, have you had misunderstandings in the past? Are you friends now?

Seems like an interesting premise to me.

I have often tried to wrestle with the concept of immortality in table top roleplays I have done.

I shall be watching to see if anymore will be interested in traveling the lonely road.

Is there a particular reason that we can't play younger characters?

EDIT: And are giant robots and magical swords actually things we might be likely to own?

Do immortals(or anyone for that matter) have capacity for active magic?

Sure you can, if you want.

Awesome. More than welcome.

Okay, immortals can definitely gain magical powers, and that is one thing working on at the moment.
Immortals will likely not own a giant robot, although I like that idea though, and definitely will own magical weapons.

You like the idea? I only brought it up because it's listed as an example in the "possessions" section of the CS.

Oh jeeze, well I'll see where that goes.

I also am excited to hear about how magic will work in this game.

So if I understand this, when one immortal dies, some of their power is released. Nearby immortals will absorb some of this, and they will become stronger for it, yes? And how much power they gain is proportional to the power of the dying immortal?

If there are more immortals nearby, will they share this escaping power?

Immortal Augmentation: The older the immortal the more points they have to spend, or perhaps they have other more esoteric abilities. Each of you starts with 30 points which you can spend during the course of the day, these will recharge after a full eight hours sleep. By spending 1 point they can lift up to 500 lbs., tear doors off hinges, leap up to 30 feet vertically or have a sudden burst of celerity or speed.

Ledgermain: Literally ‘light hands,’ Legerdemain focuses on minor spells that affect the immediate environment, and rarely last for more than a few minutes, and are often made up as the situation arises. While they don’t pack the same punch as other spell types, they’re adaptable, quick and often more subtle than other magic.

Sorcery: This tears at the fabric of reality, causing harsh, immediate effects. While the effects are often dramatic, they rarely change things in any lasting fashion. Damage might be done, but the actual magic is fiery and temporary in nature. Such raw, unbridled manipulation of reality doesn’t last long. The immortal may call down lightning, or cause a car to snap its axle, but those are simply immediate effects. More importantly, they’re difficult to master. They’re very specific in nature; each spell is its own discipline, with varying degrees of proficiency.

Enchantment: These are infusions of the power of the Void. Particularly powerful ones can create artefacts, items of extreme power. The transfer of pressure against the Eclipse is over enough time that it still isn’t the most violent sort of magic. Any person touched by the Void, is changed – quite often corrupting altering them often in subtle or not so subtle ways, making them different, physically and mentality.

There is another sort, but players will not have access to it, not yet anyway.

So if I understand this, when one immortal dies, some of their power is released. Nearby immortals will absorb some of this, and they will become stronger for it, yes? And how much power they gain is proportional to the power of the dying immortal?

Being narratively driven that is basically up to the player in question, as long as they don't take too many liberties, you're free to run it with as you choose.

If there are more immortals nearby, will they share this escaping power?

Again player dependent again. If players want to become linked to others, feel free, I'm totally easy with it. Just remember, traditional highlander canon does not exist here, despite the similarities. Immortals in this are far more dangerous, and for humans to take one on in the modern age would be extremely dangerous, and would likely require full on Black Ops kill squads with the latest equipment, and a sniper to put an immortal down short term to allow them to close.

Should they get too close, well you saw the YT vids, we all know what would happen there.

Pretty much. It makes immortals far more dangerous and less challenged by mortals.
