Hello !

So I had this idea.
We live in a world where Mages are a dominant power between humans / the other races but because of the actions of several mages the people rebelled and so the Warrior Guild was made. After many decades they finally killed almost all mages. Those that lived , lived with the fear that they will either be executed for just being born with magical talents or that they will be captured and sent to a place called " The Citadel " , where no mage has ever returned from.

Our characters will be either mages or warriors ( I want to be something like this : 2/3 mages and the rest warriors. ( maybe more mages if more people want to join ) ) and they will be sent on a mission to destroy a big evil that was created by some desperate mages that will eventually kill everyone. Both mages and non-magical beings.
Our 2/3 mages will be heavily secured by the warrior , making sure they don't use their abilities without being ordered to do so and such.

How does this idea sound ? If it's liked I'll improve it and if you have suggestions , please tell me...even if you don't want to join the RP :)

I'm all of a sudden interested. How does magic work here? Most Mage RP's I've been into are either like Magic the Gathering or Skyrim based. I don't suppose you have your own concept do ya?

I'm all for being a rebel. How are the Mages here? Magic after all is a wide topic.

That said, when it comes to a magical RP. I am mostly interested in world building since I love exploration and lores.

@Masaki Haruna The whole story will be about exploring a place called The Wastelands. A place that was destroyed in the Mage War. Someone fled to that place and our characters will be sent to find him/her/hir.
This place is different from the other places in the kingdom. Experiments roam the land free and technology there is more advanced than the rest of the lands. Because of the magic ban , many inventions were considered "taboo" so they are not used. The action of the RP takes place 100 years after the war and many things about the war itself was forgotten or have become a myth. So there will be a lot of amazement from our characters when they see some of the inventions of the past.

About the magic. Every race available will have an a different magic type and costs of the use of that magic.
Example : A dark human ( I'll explain each race in the OCC ) will only be allowed to master Black Magic and the cost of it will be probably life force. Their own or the others. They can learn other types of magic but will only be able to cast basic spells.
Only the masters of old could use any kind of magic and casts the most complex spells that would need mastery of more than one magic type.
For the spells themselves I will allow the players to choose only 1 complex spell ( only if explained how they've learned it because magic tomes and such were destroyed after the war and as I said. Magic is highly reglemented by the Warrior Guild. Now called the Empire ) and 2/3 basic spells. More magic spells will be learned after they start the journey.

Another thing. All mages ( of any race ) live in this Citadel. A place where all mages are put to work for the Empire and are experimented on. So..the mage characters will know each other. They are not friends but they are acquatences.

I am interested. Would a mage be able to be a sword user or someone with mid-low magical abilities for the most part but very skilled with swords or something like that be viable?

This seems interesting... I have an idea for a character but I have a question.

Can magic be infused into objects like weapons or jewellery?

My idea is an archer + swordsman with enchanted gear, like magic swords and a protection ring etc

@Venku@Shadow Daedalus Ok. So...mages since they are detected with magical talent are sent to the Citadel. An anti-magic prison. Every 6 years a few mages ( 1/8 of the population ) are allowed to study to casts spells for the kingdom when needed. If a mage gathers too much power / too much knowledge he is sent to the Death Row and killed. The mages that are not selected are kept in magic-dampering cells.
So...if a mage would learn to use a sword in secret then he will probably be on the Death Row and are selected for the Quest because of that skill.
As for magic that is used in infusing objects , it exists and three persons are choosed every 7 years to do that and they are kept 'till they die / become too strong.
