Huh. I'm surprised Cosmog isn't a Poison type given the name. (Persian looks weird as hell but at least now you can see more of Meowth in it).

Poppilo all the way! Been choosing water types since Squirtle, and they've NEVER let me down!
Not to mention Primarina is fabulous. Also part FAIRY, which is perfection.
As a big fan of Meowth/Persian I have to say he's an ugly looking shit with that fat face. But at the same time it adds charm.
Does this mean Red's going to be able to mega evolve all three original starters? Or will he continue to be an O.G and not care about anything new discovered in the world of Pokemon?

I'm a Fire starter. Grass is sometimes my alternate but that's very very uncommon.
I'd say the fat cat face might look cute but the face is out of proportion with the body. So it's not a fat cat but a fat face.
I guess it depends on if he has any non O.G. mons or if he even has the Mega watch or the Z one.
I was mistaken about the Raichu but here's his official teams in the past:

Gold/Silver: Pikachu, Espeon, Snorlax, Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise
HeartGold/SoulSilver and Black2/White2 had Espeon switched out for Lapras.
Stadium gave him two bullshit teams:
1. Meganium, Feraligatr, Typhlosion, Jolteon, Scizor, Tauros.
2. Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Dragonite, Snorlax, Espeon.

He could get a new team but considering what Black2/White2 did?
Red could get Lapras switched out for something else.

I ran Turtwig when I played Platinum. He's pretty cool.
I just don't like any of the fire starters, and this... thing's final evolution doesn't help.
It bothers me enough that I might just ditch it for another Normal Type. I'm considering either something new, or Wigglytuff if it's an easy-to-find option.
I doubt they'll change him up aside from Lapras/Espeon. And considering Alola, he'll probably just still have Lapras. I doubt he'll get a new surfer, though he DOES have Blastoise, so he could end up with Espeon instead...

@ModeGoneGreat post! Should be fun playing Tag in the strange forest where strange creatures (and Kled) come and go. Also, no , AFAIK Red's Pikachu has always stayed that way.

@RaddumI won't be playing this game since I have no 3/2DS, but I'm generally a Water starter. For this game, however, I would've started with either Rowlett or Litten. Poplio's nice, but Primarina's signature attack seems more niche, which may be hard to work with

There are alternate choices if you want Pokemon but can't afford the $40/50 base price.
Fangames, romhacks, and there's a few really good knockoffs on the mobile, Gamejolt, and Itch Io. Granted finding good ones of any of those is hard but possible.

I got dragged back in to the main titles with Platinum after abandoning ship when I saw Ruby/Sapphire coming out.
Little kid Mode actually started to cry when she realized that there would be another hundred twenty plus Pokemon with the Third Gen. I still played the side-series but catching every single damned Pokemon got too much!

However, I did buy Super Mystery Dungeon as soon as it came out. Because that's my shit.

I miss Rangers. Hey You Pikachu was fun as hell and I wish they made a proper sequel. Same with Snap.

I am watching Detective Pikachu with suspicious hope.
