The purpose of this roleplay will be to allow you and all other members to develop characters, species, settings and civilizations in a way that allows for competition and feedback.

You will start out controlling 3 solar systems. Feel free to cram as many nations and species as you want to said space, or to share it with other players. The actual story will be crafted from the perspective of narrators. (First person recommended, not obligatory.) You can create as many as you want, and you can also narrate from the perspective of random NPCs if that’s your preferred style. No third person omniscience.

Narrators require that you fill out a character sheet and are offered greater protections. NPCs can be created on the spot but can be killed by other players without your permission. Narrators can only be killed with your permission or if you cannot come up with a feasible way for them to survive.

There will be an overarching plot, but it is secondary to world building and I will only implement it when things get a bit slow or when someone does something exceptional that warrants a reaction.

Public, interstellar transportation will be offered by yours truly if your nation agrees to a peace treaty with the Galactic Federation of Nations. If not then you must develop your own system and deal with Maritime Laws. (Space pirates anyone?)

There will be a system by which nations or private individuals can create missions for other players. Simply make a separate post in the IC with the details and wait for characters to sign up. Missions may be either legal, criminal or a bit of both.

It will be recommended that you post frequently when you are interacting with other characters directly. If you hold up an interaction for an unreasonable amount of time (determined on a case-by-case basis) I reserve the right to abort the interaction and allow the other participants to move their characters elsewhere. When you are interacting on an international scale, post as frequently or infrequently as you like.

As solar systems are created, I'll place them on a map which will go at the top of this post. Once there's enough, people can request where they're placed. Until then it's better if they're grouped closer together to minimize travel time.

Rules of Conduct:
-No harassing other players in the OOC. You can give suggestions, but you don’t get to dis them.
-No insta-killing narrators unless you get permission first. Only I can insta-kill, and even then I try to be polite about it.
-No meta gaming. If your character has knowledge outside the scope of their experience, that’s cheating.
-No sex scenes.
-It probably won’t happen, but I reserve the right to censor violence or gore if you start getting stupid about it. Basically, no yanking intestines out or squirting blood like you’re in a tarantino movie. (And no sucking on feet either.)

Due to a particular person I used to RP with, I have developed something called the Malice Rule.
It’s a two-parter.

1- New players are limited to three solar systems (or other such support structures) initially and must earn future systems by developing their nation.
2- Players may not become purely antagonistic. You can have a few evil characters or an immoral system of law, but you are not a supervillain. There will be no supervillains.

You may eventually develop your nation into a state of supervillainy, but there are in-game consequences. Consider it playing the game in pro-mode, because one of the more powerful narrators considers such behavior rude.

If you would like more planets or systems, send me a description of them and an explanation of what your nation had to do to get them.

Open Species:

Species that you can use to create nations with or whose genetics you can splice into grexes or other such genetic amalgamations.

-Humans

If you would like to add a species to this list, simply list them as decoded in the species submission sheet.

Note: Nations may contain multiple species, multiple nations can occupy a single system, and narrators can be anyone, joe the pizza man or Jean the dictator. You may create as many narrators as you like, as many nations and as many species as you like, but you must start with only three systems. You may share systems with other players or you may choose to keep them to yourself. It’s up to you.

Really liked the concept! Would it be possible to have artificial races such as one of robots, or simply AIs?

Also do you plan to have the RP properly begin once we have how many players?

Lastly, what do you consider a new player? New person to the forum or to the thread?

If so, who'd start with 3 systems?

Artificial races could work as long as they maintain individual atonomy and don't simply act for a central controller. The reason being that hive minds tend to develop into purely antagonistic forces that ultimately distract from world and plot development more than they add to it.

As long as an individual robot can decide not to follow orders, I don't have a problem with it.

The IC will start once I get four or five submissions.

Everyone starts with three systems. You have to expand to get more.

I'll post a list of existing systems, nations and species when I get off work. Around 4:30-5pm.

Y'know, if Agatha were more nuerotic, Irish, wore clown makeup, and this was a steampunk sci-fi, I'd totally watch her youtube channel... I mean that in the best possible way.

Thanks. I have no idea whether or not you're making a reference but I'll take it as a compliment regardless.

What's really annoying me right now is the fact that I just finished formatting the nation and species sheets with pictures and graphs and everything, and then the internet goes out and I gotta reconstruct everything on my phone and add the pictures later since they won't format properly. >:|

Oh well.

Wait, I'm a dummy, the Joker is Irish. Ha ha.

Before you read, just to dispel any preconceptions of ability, Claymoor can shapeshift to LOOK like almost anything, he does not become that thing. Think of an octopus, now put it in a blender and pretend that it's still okay after pressing liquefy.

Wait, I'm a dummy, the Joker is Irish. Ha ha.

Wait, is he?... I was talking about The Diamanda Hagan. (Link questionably safe for work) xD They look remotely similar (though a lot of differences became apparent after this memory refresher) and I haven't counted, but the kill count has to be close... Which is probably a record for movie reviewers, even counting maniacs like Nostalgiacritic. Hell, she puts NC to shame as far as K/D goes.

He is in the cartoon series. Never heard of Diamanda Hagan. Thanks for the introduction, it looks funny.

I'm kind of detail oriented so I may or may not have mathematically calculated approximately how many people she should have killed by that age, assuming crime rates expanded proportionally to population, that she killed only specific kinds of criminals, and only when she had the free time to do so, the total came up to 433.333 so I just rounded down because it's slightly less frightening. Slightly.

I swear she's the only one that's this bad. The other's are less that five standard deviations away from normal.

@Darked13 Yes you may.

By the way, don't think that because I make my sheets super long and obsessively detailed that you need to do the same. I already have my stuff developed. If you're still working out what you want conceptually that's perfectly fine. Just state that you haven't decided and then edit it later. The whole point of this is to help you figure out what works for you and what doesn't.

Well, I started writing stuff last night, then I did some more this morning, and then I actually got some work done, and then came back to it and I think I'm approximating something that's near finished. I've still got to describe the capital planet properly using the Planet Description Sheet though, as, right now, it's sort of just "a planet that's covered in jungles that are slowly reclaiming the ruins of a previous civilisation".

Here's what I've got so far, apologies for the wall of text and my rather informal style.

OK, when writing our character sheets and such, is it safe to assume that there is a Standard Galactic Language?
Also, is "unknown" science allowed? Such as warp travel, "shields", antimatter weapons, extraplanar dimensions, and teleportation?

@Cupricality Those colors gave me cancer.

Are we required to use your submission sheets as they are, or can we reformat them to our liking, as long as the information requested is included?
