Name: Kubo foundling

Gender: Male

Appearance:

Starting Artifacts:
[Heart of the Mountain] -Earth
The artifact itself takes on the shape of a metal vambrace, worn on the right forearm. It's made of iron, with a copper trim. It's design is simple but sturdy. The only exception to this utilitarian style is an image of a mountain covered in clouds painstakingly carved into the side, only visible on close inspection. The artifact's power is to call forth rocks, covering Kubo's arm in a thick layer of flexible rock. This functions as armour, and allows Kubo to punch people with additional force. It doesn't actually increase his strength, but rather compensates for the added weight, putting more mass behind his blows than a normal fist.

[The Sparkle Stick] -Crystal
A stick with a small quartz crystal tied to the top with string. Kubo's first artifact, this object seems to generate tiny crystals in the air when used, causing a 'sparkle' effect. This was originally described by others as useless, but Kubo keeps it around. He's since learned to properly use the artifact's ability, which is to cause small crystals to form, and manipulate the form of crystals in various aesthetically pleasing ways. Unfortunately, it's still completely useless in combat. His favourite trick is to create small crystal 'statuettes', or flowers, which he often puts a lot of effort into.

Orphanage Hometown: Kenton

History:
Kubo was picked up from the outskirts of Liravel, where he had been living in poverty. He never knew who his mother was, even less so the father, and was orphaned at a young age. He survived in the outskirts by begging and stealing, but was badly malnourished when he was found by an artificer who recognized the potential in him. Kubo was brought to the orphanage at the age of 9, and has lived there ever since.

Personality:
If a single word can define Kubo it's 'Determined'. He wants to be the greatest Artificer ever, and will do anything in his power to achieve that goal. He also seems to have a fascination with money, having decided to use his powers to become stunningly rich. Of course he'll try and help people along the way, but the end goal is for him to be able to buy his own villa in the rich quarter. Even becoming the most powerful artificer only seems to be a means to reach this end, as he believes that artificers are clearly amazing, and as such the greatest artificer would no doubt be the wealthiest man in the world.

Patch Note 1.8: Added a section about the currency, debt, and benefits that being a part of the orphanage entails. I still don't want to have to be strict about how much money people have, so please be reasonable. It's not your money, it's your character's money, and being poor can be just as entertaining as being rich, if not more so.

NOTE: Public transportation is now free for Wards age 16 and up.

Name: Vera Gradus

Sex: Female

Appearance: Gaunt, pale, and almost skeletal in appearance Vera stands relatively short for her age. Her dull grey eyes are often scanning the pages of a book prying knowledge from their pages. Her hair is kept more on the short end, brown for most of its length but growing in grey near the roots. She often wears a full length cloak and primarily uses her left hand despite being right handed to conceal her mutation; a matte and seemingly lifeless draconic arm ending in a clawed gauntlet of a hand.

Starting Artifact: A plain steel signet ring with the crest of the orphanage. The ring allows the user to emit a rod of death mana about the thickness of a pencil and a foot long from the hand the ring is worn on in order to rot anything in that space. (depleted)

Orphanage Hometown: Dula a town to the south east of Liravel with a past tainted with necromancy.

History: Vera was sent to the Dula orphanage around her tenth year after gaining an intense interest in her town's necromantic history. Durious as to why of all the elements death was among then least well written about while not being inherently evil. Her parent thought it best that leave their house after attempts to persuade her to drop it failed. Other than hording books on artifacts and the elements and copying the useful contents, her time in the Dula orphanage was more or less uneventful.

Eventually she took the opportunity to discover more about the death aspect herself and went to Liravel. As her training progressed she drew more and more from her artifact wearing it constantly, unafraid of mutation, even hoping for it, a cat tail and ears would make wonderful additions to her persons. But her artifact had not been made from any member of the family Felidae, instead due to a mix up in paperwork it was made from a scrap of a draco-lich's claw, so she instead grew scales and claws which all things considered she found may be useful, so she kept her artifact on unfortunately the claws became larger than the internal diameter of the ring so there came a point where she could no longer remove it. It wasn’t fear that stopped her from removing her finger and extracting the ring and seeing the healer, it was curiosity. Wondering how much the artifact would change her. The answer was quite a lot, over the two weeks the scales spread half way across her chest her arm grew bony spines and her hand turned into a gauntlet of bone and keratin nearly enveloping her artifact.

Personality: While she loves to talk about her element and its interactions, the results of her testings, and information recovered from from her books, she is well aware that this is an obsession not shared by most of her peers so she tends to be a bit more secluded and withdrawn. But she is rather good at mirroring and compartmentalizing.

Nice app, accepted! One thing to mention -- the Nature Artifact would be pretty overpowered if you could use it just as if you actually possessed the Element, so you'll have to be a bit more specific with how the control of plants works.

You can have the Artifact control plant life present in the area, with limited ability to control and grow them, but much more than that starts to break away from the specific purposes that Artifact are typically created for.
