Sorry if I stepped on toes or went way too far with the bits of world building I did! I wanted Ronken to do some introspection about the city being destroyed, and since we didn't have a ton of info for it I thought I would make some stuff up. If there is anything I wrote that you don't like lemme know and I will promptly erase it.

Also if it wasn't made clear Ronken missed what Switch said about him turning crystaly. That's why he is getting confused about some of what she is saying. It's gonna be a fun talk when he finally has the news broken to him hahaha.

@NorthernGR That is an awesome post! Ronken's personal view of the city is a lot more meaningful than any objective description I could provide. Love it!

We'll absolutely have to drop Ronken's condition on him like a ton of bricks sometime down the road, haha.

@chukklehed The crystalline is contagious through saliva, blood, and inhaling the ashes of dead infected creatures. When the creatures die they turn into dust, which then gets ingested or into the water supply, which is how entire cities are being decimated elsewhere.

Those who are affected by the crystalline can "walk between worlds" -- see ghosts and visions of other realities, incorporeal demons, even read people's intentions -- until they die of the affliction. Spook's mask multiplies these abilities.

Magic is powered by dreams. The clearer you can visualize something working, the stronger the effect will be. Mages who push too hard or use magic too long will be deprived of their dreams. For some people this means insomnia -- for others, narcolepsy. Most power-users will slowly go mad either way.
