1 WEEK EARLIER

It was tradition that one senior would throw a crazy party right before the school year started. Each year was crazier than the last out of some silly urge someone felt to outdo the last guy. Jessamine had been to quite a few parties before but she knew this one would be different. It ended up being different in a way she would have never imagined She found herself that Saturday night standing in front of a three-story, white house. It outshined the houses around it with beautiful architecture and tall white pillars on each side of a arched doorway. The front lawn seemed so well manicured that it took a double take for Jessamine to realize the grass was real. She stood outside, waiting for her friend Isabelle to accompany her, her dark-blue top glittering in the moonlight.

At last, the girl joined her in a short, lavender dress. Her hair was dark, long and about as a straight as a pin. Jessamine had never seen hair that looked nearly quite as healthy and shiny as Isabelle's did. Jessamine's hair was much the opposite of hers with golden blonde curls. She loved her long curls as much as any girl would yet sometimes she longed to be able to glide her hand through silky straight hair. "Ew."Jessamine said in a teasing tone of disgust, taking a step away from Isabelle.

"Ew yourself. "Isabelle said and laughed. She glanced at her and smiled. "You look amazing Jessamine where'd you get that top? I'm so borrowing it." She told her and gave her a tight hug.

"So do you!"Jessamine exclaimed and hugged her back. "And you are so not. This top wasn't cheap." She and Isabelle had been best friends since they were very young along with a girl named Marcy Salvatore. She and Marcy clicked like a lock and key. They were inseparable despite their age difference. That was except for tonight, that is. It was a seniors only party. However, her older brother Jason Salvatore seemed to find his way inside every year. Jessamine guessed he probably charmed his way in. No one was ever mad that he came but if it was any other person, it'd be a huge deal.

"Too bad. Soooo am." Isabelle giggled, "Now let's go inside already!!" She took Jessamine's arm and dragged her along through the open front door, teenagers piling into the house after them. The inside was simply elegant. All of the floors were marble, reflecting the huge chandelier that swung gently so many feet above them. There was, of course, a gorgeous staircase that looked straight out of the Titanic. Paintings of every kind were all over the walls. "We're so taking a bajillion pictures on this staircase." Isabelle announced.

Jessamine had been about to agree when her gaze fell on the tall, muscular boy standing near one of the paintings, seemingly examining it."Not now! Later. I want to see the party!" Jessamine cried rather anxiously. She didn't have to look twice to recognize her ex-boyfriend. Her excitement was immediately drained from her. Isabelle followed her gaze and her eyes widened. She got the hint quickly and headed out into the next room with Jessamine.

"Izzy I really can't run into him tonight."Jessamine said, "I can't do it. " She had been hoping to start over this year after the hell he had put her through last year.

"We won't okay?" Isabelle took her shoulders. "We're going to have fun tonight and it's going to be a totally Louis-less night. I promise."
And so they did. The next room had been full of at least dozens of people, dancing like they had never danced before to loud, obnoxious party music. There were crazy strobe lights and a disco ball installed. It was literally like walking into a club. The flood of people went through an open door and into a large indoor pool area where kids were drinking alcohol and bouncing around a beach ball in the pool. The first few hours the girls had made the most of the dancing and even drank a little. Jessamine spoke to a lot of people while Isabelle seemed intent on finding her boyfriend, Luke. She was naturally friendly and easy to talk to. It made making friends very easy for Jessamine. She knew most of the people here anyway.

It wasn't along until they ran into Jason Salvatore. He wasn't the tallest of boys but he was fairly average when it came to height. When it came to muscle, he was pretty much jacked. He had messy light brown hair much like his brother James and charming green eyes. Currently, he was walking around in his swim trunks. "Jess you skank, you. "Jason threw his arm around her shoulder with a smirk. Jason Salvatore was basically the definition of arrogance. All the girls seemed to bend over backwards for him and he absolutely adored the attention. She wrinkled her nose at the aroma of his alcohol breath. "God Jace how much did you drink? "

"The usual."Jason replied coolly. "The girl I just made out with didn't seem to mind and she was sober. She might have been too preoccupied with these babies though." He ran a hand over his abs.

"Yeah. Uh huh. "She replied with disinterest, "Any chance you smuggled your sister and brother here?"

"Maaaybe."Jason said and winked. With that, he turned and began walking away from her.

"Jason!" Jessamine groaned and tried to go after him but he disappeared into a crowd of people and out of sight.

"All alone, baby?"

Jessamine stiffened at the deep voice as a hand fell on her hip. She quickly pushed his hand off her and turned around. Her ex-boyfriend Louis stood there with his buzzcut and obnoxiously muscular arms. He smiled the way he used to smile when they had been together and things had been perfect.

"Leave me alone, Louis." She said firmly.

" I wouldn't speak to me that way if I were you. I still can tell everyone how you lost your virginity to me." Louis told her with a malicious smile. There was no longer any love. He made that evident when the ordeal happened. He had blackmailed her into staying silent.

"And I'll tell them and the cops how you raped me. "Jessamine managed angrily through clenched teeth.

"Sweetpea, no one would believe you. Everyone is going to think you were a drunken slut who's now trying to uphold her reputation. You're still mine and always will be. However, fortunately for you, I've lost interest in you this year. I have a new target."

Jessamine glared at him, "When did you become such a fucking psychopath? Just leave everyone alone, including me." She hurriedly went outside, eyes watering. She sat down on the porch and buried her head in her knees.

Isabelle joined her a minute later, "Are you okay, Jess?" She rubbed her shoulder soothingly. "You miss him don't you?"
Jessamine wanted to vomit. Miss him? It was really much the opposite. However, she usually went with that explanation. It explained why she had acted so depressed last year. "Yeah. "She said quietly.

"Whoaaa party over here." Jason plopped down behind them. "What are you ladies doing out here? They're blowing up a waterslide in the back!"

"You go, Jason. She needs a minute." Isabelle replied with annoyance.

Jason looked back inside to see Louis watching. "Oh God. That creep's here. I can't even fathom why you would date him in the first place. I'm sorry Jess..."

"It's fine."Jessamine sighed and glanced forward toward the road. Some guy was stumbling into it, staggering in every direction, his head limply hanging downward. The bright lights of a car made her whip her head to stare at it. "HEY!"She yelled, jumping to her feet. "Get out of the street!"
Her eyes widened as the car slammed into him and he went tumbling over the roof. The car stopped but no one got out yet. The three of them ran forward over to the guy and knelt beside him while Isabelle immediately began dialing the police.

He was unconscious and very bloody. Bruises were already forming. Jessamine didn't recognize him at all; he didn't even look young enough to be in high school. She took his arm and winced at the feeling of it. "It's broken." She informed them. There was a snap and the bone suddenly cracked back in the place. Another cracking sound filled the air and the man's eyes shot open as his bruises seemed to disappear. They were all grabbed from behind so tightly none of them could even turn around to see who was grabbing them. The bloody man sat up and raised his hand. Smoke was blown, from what seemed like no where, into their faces. Then everything went black. The day after, the three of them had no recollection of what happened after that. They had all just woken up in their beds as per usual.

Moving into a new place is hard for anyone. Rosaline never thought she'd have to do it without her mom and dad there to guide them. She had to do a double take every time she realized it was her brother, Xavier, in the front seat driving and not her dad. It wasn't just the fact that he resembled their father. It was also that she was so used to seeing him in that spot. Rose was in her usual position, curled up in the back of the car, head on a couple pillows with a large blanket covering most of her body. She had been peeking over the edge of the blanket, falling in and out of slumber often. She had been quiet the whole car ride, listening to the sound of the car beneath the seat. Normally she would call up impatiently to her parents if they were there yet or if they could stop somewhere for food. Sometimes her dad would play I Spy with them on the highway when they were on road trips. They had done it since she could remember. Then mom would always get a headache because they got too loud over it. Rose giggled a little bit at the memory then realized her brother would probably wonder what she was randomly giggling about.

Or maybe he'd worry she was going down the same path as Persephone. Rose let her gaze fall on her sister. Though they were all different now, Persephone was the most different. With the death of parents, people were expected to be upset for a while. However, Persephone was completely losing it. She was admitted into some mental health facility not too long ago. Her and Xavier had to wait for her to come back before moving. Rose wasn't sure how much it helped. She wasn't sure if Xavier knew either. Either way, Rose just hoped she could see her smile again.

It was hard for even Rose to smile after what happened. Their parents hadn't just died-they'd been murdered. No one really thought Rose had seen anything like Persephone had. Persephone had been right there when they killed their parents and she herself had even been attacked. The poor girl was so traumatized after. Not only that, but she had scars across her body that could make people stare. Rose was worried kids were going to bully her about it. No. She wouldn't let them do that.

Truth be told, Rose had seen it all. She had been locked in what she had thought was the safety of the closet. When she cracked the closet door open just a little, she was greeted with the sight of her mother's throat being slit and her father's dead body laying in front of the closet. She had looked down and nearly screamed at the sight of her father's empty eyes. The sight was buried deep in her soul and she couldn't get rid of it. She saw it nearly every night and had night terrors all the time. Not to mention she hadn't been alone in that closet. Rose remembered being yanked backward by her waist into the depths of that closet only to be beaten until she was rendered unconscious.

However, when Rose woke in the hospital and saw Persephone's condition, she knew she had to push away her own feelings of trauma and let them focus on her sister. Persephone needed all the help she could get. She knew deep down that Xavier was a bit closer with herself and was more prone to helping her than Persephone. If Rose acted like she was okay, then Xavier would put all his efforts into Persephone. Rosaline wasn't so sure how much longer she could keep the strong, happy girl act up. She was beginning to feel dead inside. Every night she woke up and had to cover her mouth to keep from screaming. That was if she could even get herself to sleep in the first place. Sometimes, during the day, she'd see everything again and have to run out of the room to go cry in the bathroom. Not to mention, everything startled her and she was as anxious and skittish as a kitten. The worst part was the horrible agony of missing them every day. She wasn't so sure how much longer she could keep this from them.

No I have to. She thought determinedly and sat up in the car seat, the blanket rolling off her body. After stretching her arms into the air and yawning as if she had been in a deep slumber, she smiled at Xavier through the front mirror. "Hey guys... Is this the town we're going to live in?"She looked out the window and watched the quaint little houses pass by. It was clear this wasn't the most wealthy neighborhood but it seemed safe at least. "I think we're going to like it here."

Xavier's gaze never drifted from the road ahead of him. The empty, cemented roads weren't comforting; they were as broken as his family. One sister had scars all over her body and severe depression; the other hide their feelings. Xavier didn't know what was worse: the depressed sister or the one burying her emotions? He sighed and gripped the steering wheel. He couldn't ponder it now he had to arrive at the new house without being in, or causing, an accident. The giggle from Rose made him turn his head nonetheless and then back to the road. Random giggles from her like this were nice to hear, but he knew she was also acting half the time.

He wasn't sure how to handle either situations. The loan from the bank for their new house was going to be hard to pay off. On top of that, he had all the bills and the girls' education to pay for. Persephone was going into her senior year, and Rose her junior. There was nobody in town he knew and much less, would trust. How would he manage all this? Just thinking about it caused his head to ache further. This wasn't something he knew how to handle. And then, back at the house, when their parents were being murdered - there was an incident. He didn't know why or how it happened, but it had and he was afraid to speak up. This had to be nothing.... There was no way it had occurred.. How could -

A car nearly smashed into him, causing him to jerk the wheel and swerve. He honked the horn in frustration and nearly yelled out the window. He reminded himself it would only startle the two, and Persephone might freak out at the unexpected shout. The drive left without a glance back. "Sorry, girls," he told them s he glanced in the mirror. Persephone looked over, acknowledging him, then away without a word. If she was or wasn't, he wouldn't know; she did not speak often. He sighed and looked over at Rose. "You alright?" He glanced away to intently stare at the road ahead of him. He was not letting anything bad happen to these girls anymore. He vowed on it. If something happened, he was going to lose it. Persephone and Rose were the only people he had left. The rest of the family had isolated them in fear of being targeted. The sympathy cards were written so fake that he couldn't fathom the

Minutes later, they arrived at the new house. Xavier sighed in relief and pulled in and parked. He opened his door and then opened the others for the girls. Then he glanced around the neighborhood and waited for the two to climb out. Once they had, he beckoned them forward as he lead them into the house. "Let me make sure it's empty first." He told them. "Wait here." He entered after unlocking the door with the key left in the mailbox. Xavier strode inside to the colonial house. To the left against the wall was a staircase leading upstairs with a white railing. The living room was on the other side of the wall, and to his right, the two separate bedrooms. Ahead was the kitchen, which he observed, was rather quaint. It was modernized, but it had an older house appeal. The wallpaper was something out of the fifty's - the people who had lived here had not taken the time to redo it. Xavier could care less how it looked, as long as it was functional. At least the girls might like the cream wallpaper with the flowers painted on it. The floor was carpeted with wood beneath it, he noticed, as it creaked when he walked forward.

Fifteen minutes later, he beckoned the two inside. "It's safe," He told them as he glanced around. A tall girl with big, curly brown hair was looking over at them curiously from down the street. She wore a taupe blouse tucked into a plaid skirt and a pair of booties. Her tie was flying aimlessly in the wind. She smiled at them warmly then entered her home. He looked away and ushered the girls inside then shut the door.

Rose climbed out of the car in a pair of jean shorts and a black tank top after Xavier opened the door for them. She dragged a stuffed bunny out of the car with her. People had made remarks that she was too old to carry such a thing around but she didn't care. The bunny made her feel safe and reminded her of home. She had possession of the toy since she was a baby and had called it "kitty" as a baby and had never since stopped calling it that.

"Let me make sure it's empty first." Xavier told them. "Wait here." He entered after unlocking the door with the key left in the mailbox. She turned to Persephone once he was inside, "I think the truck with our furniture should be here soon. It'll be fun to decorate the house don't you think? We can make it really nice..."She paused, not really expecting her to reply with much, "I know I want to decorate my room just the way it was at home." It was a horrible way to think about it but sometimes she felt like the Persephone she had known had died along with her parents. She was nothing like herself anymore and she missed her. Xavier and Rose were both obviously changed by the incident as well but Rose felt like she and him had held on to parts of themselves anyway. She wasn't sure it was the same for Persephone. She felt like she was standing with a stranger.

Rose awkwardly looked away and down the street, occupying herself with other thoughts as they waited. She began braiding her hair loosely as she idly examined the neighboring houses. She wondered how the neighbors were. Were there people their age inside? Some new friends would definitely ease the tension in their family. Though she loved and missed her parents, she wanted to move on from the incident and be happy again. She was tired of pretending. She just wanted it to be real.

Finally, Xavier emerged from the house, "It's safe." She didn't blame him for being paranoid enough to check out the house first before they all entered. They had no idea why those people attacked their family or even who they were. The people had yet to be caught. She watched him glance around and followed his gaze. There was a girl with really pretty brown hair looking at them from down the street. When she smiled at them, Rose smiled back and gave a friendly wave. Xavier didn't seem to be feeling as friendly. He ushered them inside the house instead of reacting.

"Wow it's lovely!"Rosaline exclaimed, spinning around to look at everything. "How cute is that wallpaper! It's so vintage. Xavier you nailed this!" Though she was forcing this reaction, she did feel genuine excitement for the first time in awhile. She began darting through the rooms to check them out. Afterwards, she ran up the stairs and came back down five minutes later. "Okay there's two bedrooms down here and one bedroom upstairs and I'm really feeling the one upstairs because it already has pink walls. Any objections?"

Once Xavier was inside, Persephone was left alone with Rose. There was only silence. She couldn't think of anything to say that might not be morbid or depressing. What was the point? That question plagued her every waking moment and her dreams. She couldn't figure out how to live normally. The scenes of her parents murder echoed in her mind twenty-four-seven. The shattering of glass, the screams and yells, the cold blade against her face... It was a repetitive memory, one she could not shake. How Rose was able to didn't seem reasonable. After being inducted into the psych ward and seeing its' terrors, Persephone had begged and pleaded for Xavier to rescue her form its' hellish depths. He had, and here she was now: moving into a new town Maybe it would be okay, but a voice inside her head doubted it and created a new layer of sorrow and fear. She felt as if she were drowning and nobody could see, hear, or understand her.

Rose's voice managed to fill her hearing. She turned her head to look, perhaps even a quarter of an inch. "I think the truck with our furniture should be here soon. It'll be fun to decorate the house don't you think? We can make it really nice..." She paused, and Seph knew why: she didn't expect her to respond. She didn't know what to say anyways. "I know I want to decorate my room just the way it was at home." Decorate her room the way it had been? Was she out of her mind? Persephone didn't care how it was decorated or what it looked like, as long as it didn't resemble her old house! That was maddening. Persephone would not enter that room if it looked the same. The thought caused her skin to crawl as if there were ants on them. She shuddered and remained silent, finding her responses were too bitter. Despite it all, she envied Rose's optimism and faith. Persephone wished she had that mindset, but it seemed impossible.

"It's safe." Xavier's unexpected emergence and voice startled her, causing her to jump almost off the porch. Heart hammering, she saw Xavier withhold a sigh. "I'm sorry, Seph." He rubbed her arm gently and escorted inside. He shut the door, since Rose had already entered. He smiled at her encouragingly and patted her shoulder, letting go. He turned to face the both of them, remaining in her field of vision so he wouldn't startle her again. She began to relax, telling herself to breathe deeply and slowly, that there was no danger. As if there was none... She felt as if they were being watched. No, no, don't think that way, she told herself and clenched her fists.

"Wow it's lovely!"Rosaline exclaimed, spinning around to look at everything. Persephone watched her and tried not to feel nauseous. The motion of Rose moving fast was causing her to be sick. She hadn't slept well that night or ate much, and the last thing she wanted was to watch Rose spin in circles. How come she felt so irritated? Seph tried to distance herself from her emotions. If Rose didn't stop soon -no, focus, she told herself and gritted her teeth. "How cute is that wallpaper! It's so vintage. Xavier you nailed this!"

Persephone glanced around and smiled to herself. "It's really nice," she commented simply, speaking for the first time in what had to be four hours. Perhaps shorter - maybe longer. She had lost track of time.

Xavier smiled at them both, relieved to see Rose's reaction and hear Seph's voice. "Thank you. Want to go look around together, you two?" He asked as he began pulling the blinds shut on the windows. Seph watched him and gently pulled him away. He looked down at her, blinking.

"Let's focus on the house right now." She told him quietly, nodding. "We can look around together. What about you, Rose?" The more she spoke, the more Xavier seemed stunned. It made her lips curl upwards into almost a smile. his negligence would bite him in the ass. He might have saved her from the psych ward, but in the end, she would be the one to save herself. Not him. No matter how hard he tried, she couldn't fathom him being caring. Forgiveness would be long hard road that she thought he best start running for now.

Rosaline managed a genuine grin hearing her sister finally speak. Maybe things would be okay after all. They would be a little, happy family. She swallowed hard. It was so hard to imagine living without their parents there. How could she call them a family and exclude her own parents from it? She clenched her fists tightly and glanced away for a moment, tears threatening. This didn't feel real. She had been waiting so long to wake up from the nightmare but it had never happened. She knew very well that no dream could truly go on for this long.

"Thank you. Want to go look around together, you two?" Xavier's voice pulled her from her thoughts. She glanced over at him, unaware that the whites of her eyes had begun to redden. He was pulling the curtains shut as he spoke. The sight before her flashed and for a moment she saw the curtains in the living room at their old home, stained with the blood of her mother. She exhaled shakily, hands beginning to shake. The image went away and she was again staring at the brand new curtains. Rose could't quite place why she was acting like this. No matter what she did, the events followed her everywhere she went. They even followed her into her dreams. She knew she couldn't get away with freaking out in front of Xavier and Persephone for too long. They would figure out that she saw something eventually. As far as the two were concerned, Rose had not witnessed a thing and had left the house quite unscarred and quite unknowledgeable of what had happened. Persephone had been the one who had seen everything and was thus traumatized by the events. Rose had to act normal.

However, Rose knew deep down that she was in no way acting normal. It was getting harder and harder to handle with each day. She turned away from them as if she was looking at something, dimly aware that Persephone was speaking. She folded her arms tightly, trying not to fidget and display her anxiety. It took her a long moment to register that Persephone had actually been speaking to her. She looked over her shoulder at Persephone. Rose had to admit she was shocked at the amount of words Persephone had just uttered. She supposed she wasn't the only one making an effort to make things work despite everything. If even poor Persephone could make an effort, she certainly should have been able to. At this moment, Rose knew she could not. A glance at the closet led to the flash of an image of her father's dead body and she shuddered. She needed to get away from them so she could compose herself.

Rose smiled at Persephone, "You two go head. I think I wanna go get some fresh air. I'm a little car sick to be honest... My fault for not eating breakfast." She giggled after the last statement and made her way to the door without even letting them reply. Xavier could possibly attempt to baby her and drag her back inside but she was hoping he would let her be and take this opportunity to bond with Persephone or something.

Xavier

Xavier frowned as he watched Rose's demeanor falter. There was something wrong with her, but she wasn't sharing. That was something he planned on doing. After she left, he glanced to Persephone. "I'm going to check on her." He told her quietly, "Stay here. Okay?" He watched her intently and she nodded obediently. He strode out the way Rose had gone, double checking that Persephone had stayed still. To his relief, she had. Xavier ran a hand through his hair and watched thin black pieces fall out. He watched it briefly, stalling. His hair falling out had started happening in the recent month. It was another damn thing he had to add to list of stuff to fix.

Once he began to approach Rose, he said softly, "Rose." He was scared he'd startle her. There was something about the closet that had freaked her out. "Rose, honey, what's wrong? Don't lie to me, either, please." His chest ached with distress; it was becoming overwhelming already, trying to take care of everything... But he needed to push it aside now to help Rose. His concern for Persephone was diminishing.

Rosaline
_____________________________

Rosaline sat on the steps of the house, green eyes brimming with tears and small, clenched fists trembling as she rested them on her bare knees. She focused on the sound of the birds chirping and the sight of the clear blue sky. The sun was beaming down on everything, bathing them all in bright sunshine. It was a really nice day. The moving truck would be here soon with all their things. The two men would help them move everything in but it was going to take awhile. This would be a long day. Maybe she could go make some lemonade and snacks for everyone to help out. Xavier would probably appreciate some help. She wanted him to feel like living here would be a team effort between the three of them and the weight wasn't all on his shoulders. However, these days, it really seemed like he felt that way. She let out a shuddering exhale as she found herself a bit calmed down. Once she submerged herself in other thoughts, the flashbacks tended to go away and she could relax a bit. However, they were starting to happen way more frequently now.

She had further immersed herself into tying the shoelaces of her pink converse when Xavier's voice calling her name slightly startled her despite its softness. She immediately froze in her actions. His voice seemed to silence all other sounds in the environment. The suddenness sent shivers down her spine. Rose couldn't quite put her finger on why this happened. She exhaled once again and looked over her shoulder as Xavier loomed in the doorway. He looked so distressed that his worry was contagious.

"Rose, honey, what's wrong? Don't lie to me, either, please."

Yikes. She should have known he could see right through her. She had no choice but to evade the truth as she had been doing the past few weeks. She smiled as she always did when he said things like this. Faking smiles never worked really around him so she usually thought of a genuine reason to smile and it made it easy to just let it occur. She had thought of how her friends promised to come visit her in their new home and a bit of excitement had filled her, fueling the smile. "No worries bro I'm alright. Like I said, I just felt a bit car sick. "

Rosaline turned her head back to look at the ground for a moment before getting to her feet. "I just had the great idea of preparing some food. I'm going to go get some out of the car and make some snacks and lemonade in the kitchen. You should show Persephone around the house."

Jason
_____________________________

Jason peered through the windows of his home as the sound of music dimly reverberated from his backyard. Some people were moving in across the street from him. In a small town such as theirs, word got around fast. Everyone had known they were coming. Two pretty blondes came out of the car along with a tall, Abercrombie-model dark-haired dude. He wondered where their parents were. He watched them all go inside for a moment before turning away from the window. "James! We got new neighbors!"He called as he picked up a tray. The tray had a few large glasses of cold punch on it.

He made his way to the backyard where Jessamine and Isabelle were laying out on lawn chairs in their bathing suits. "Ladies."He greeted, setting the drinks on the table between them.

Isabelle sat up, lowering her sunglasses, her long dark hair following her movement. " Did you say the new people are here?"

"Yeah so what's the sitch? Hot guys or what?"Jessamine chimed in, sitting up as well. Her curly blonde hair was in a ponytail.

"There was a little girl, a gorgeous older sister and a tall brother." Jason described to them. "The tall brother looked like some kind of model from Abercrombie or whatever."

Jessamine and Isabelle exchanged glances before running to the gate of the fence. They both opened it and began peeking their heads through. "There's the little girl..." Isabelle whispered, pointing at the young blonde on the steps.

Jason joined, peering over their heads. "You guys are such stalkers." He told them with a laugh.

The door opened and the tall boy came out and Jessamine and Isabelle gasped. "Oh my God he's so beautiful."Jessamine whispered, struggling not to squeal.

"Based God."Isabelle said in admiration. "He's just your type, Jessie... Oh my God wait until Marcy sees."

"Hunter said he's coming over so I'm sure Marcy will be joining."Jason told them.

"She's going to die when she sees him oh my God."Isabelle giggled.

Persephone

Persephone watched her brother leave and sighed. The living room she stood in connected to the kitchen. She strode into the kitchen and out the sliding back door. It creaked eerily but she paid no mind to it. Her gaze flicked around. The backyard was tidy and fenced in. Around the boarder of it all were a variety of perennial plants. She recognized lilies, daisies, and tulips. The last one were her favorites. Her mother used to buy her tulips for her birthday every year. A pang shot through her. What would she do without her mother? It was too odd. Her head began to pulse and she gripped the sides gently with her thin fingers. It shocked her to know that her brother had taken her out of the psychiatric unit. She thought he would have left her there...

"Persephone ...."the voice she had been hearing since their parent's death, returned. She jumped out of her skin and looked around with wide eyes. Where was it coming from? She circled around the yard, trying to find the source of it. There was nothing, absolutely nothing, except the plants and bugs. Clearly the voice wasn't coming from the bugs. There was no way that group of bees or the caterpillar nearby were speaking to her. "Persephone...."

She smoothed her hair around her face which was drenched in sweat. If Xavier saw or knew she was hearing voices again, he would flip and send her back to the psych ward. Quickly she ran inside, glancing to see her siblings were still outside. She shut the bathroom down, after running around trying to find it, and shut it tight. Persephone scampered to the shower and fumbled with the faucets. It didn't matter she had nothing to change into. She bit her lip and watched the water rush out of the shower nozzle. Persephone stripped down and hastily jumped into the shower. At first it was silent until....

"You can't run. You can't hide. We're here..." Persephone clutched her head and sank to the bottom of the tub, tears filing her eyes. They streamed down her cheeks. She wondered if was hallucinating or was truly schizophrenic as the doctors labeled her. Maybe she was or wasn't. All she knew was the voice were real and she didn't know where they were coming from. Persephone dug her nails into her skin, waiting for the insanity to end.

- x -

Twenty minutes later, she left the shower. She looked to see new towels had been brought in, courtesy of she presumed Rose or Xavier. There were fresh clothing too. She sighed in relief and thanked God for her privacy. Slowly, as if coming back to life, Persephone readied herself. Once finished, she changed into her knit pullover, tank and light sweatpants with her bunny slippers. A small warmth filled her heart briefly. Xavier knew she loved those slippers and thankfully they had survived. The small gesture of kindness was uplifting.

Persephone glanced sideways in the mirror at her deep, grotesque scars and sighed. She hair down to help conceal her them and exited the bathroom. She glanced downstairs to discover Xavier was unpacking their belongings. Further inspection told her that Rose was in the kitchen. Without a sound, she came down the stairs and sat on the landing away from the window. Ever since their parent's death and the glass, she was terrified of being near windows. Seph tensed and then scampered into the kitchen with Rose. Xavier watched her run passed him and sighed.

"Careful, alright?" He called to her and she nodded fervently.

She sat on the chair and stared at her sister, managing a vacant smile. "H-h-hey. It smells good."

Xavier

Xavier stared down at Rose. Her statement sounded shady, although her smile seemed trustworthy. He sighed, unsure of what to say or do for her. He wasn't letting it go, though he'd question her later. Rose seemed like glass and he was afraid of shattering her. Deep down, he knew something was inherently wrong that she wouldn't admit. The bruises she had after their parent's deaths told him otherwise from her not witnessing anything. Her statements from it to the police were logical. Still, Xavier caught her skipping up now and then. He decided to change the subject for her sake and stood next her ruffling her hair, as she said:

"I just had the great idea of preparing some food. I'm going to go get some out of the car and make some snacks and lemonade in the kitchen. You should show Persephone around the house."

"Alright Blondie. Sounds good," He looked around the neighbor to spot two girls and one guy staring at them. He grimaced. These people seemed nosy as hell. He didn't need the spectators eying them. They were under enough pressure. He stared for a few seconds and nodded to them, hoping they would leave. Their family, what was left, needed space. What the hell didn't people understand? He tersely looked to Rose, muscles taut with a quivering jaw. "Just go inside. I'll get it right away for you. Make sure Seph isn't doing anything she shouldn't be, alright?"

Xavier quickly found the food bins and carried them inside. He set out the items Rose had spoke of and hoped she'd checked on Seph for him. With a grunt, he continued unpacking. It was easy since he had lifted in high school and vigorously took his anger out during the gym workouts. He sighed and grabbed the girls' suitcases and hauled them inside. After, he grabbed his own and set the all in the living room. He frowned, looking outside, having lost track of Persephone. He had no clue if Rose had even checked on her. Frustration boiled up inside of him and clenched his fists. He couldn't handle taking care of both of the girls. Xavier had only begrudgingly taken her out of the psychiatric unit once her doctors declared her well.

He sighed and went upstairs to discover that she was in the bathroom, showering. The sound of the houses' running water was foreign to him and he hadn't been able to locate its' precise noise. He hoped she wasn't engaging in any unfavorable behaviors; then realized all the sharp objects weren't in the house yet. After darting downstairs, he found her ruffle bag with her name on it and grabbed a pair of clothes for her. The black haired-boy ran up to the bathroom while the shower still ran and set them inside fast. He quickly left and came back downstairs.

"Okay," He told himself in a sigh and ran a hand through his hair. "Unpack," As he unpacked, he looked over to find Seph sitting on the landing. One glance at the window sent her scampering across the living room into the kitchen. He bit his lip, knowing the cause of her fear. Still, he needed her not to run. If she fell and hurt himself, he might have a stroke. "Careful," He called to her, eyes narrowed. A feverish nod answered him. Xavier grunted and continued to unpack and sort their belongings.

Lee

Lee fixed his collar as he stood before a glass window. Beside him was a woman with a clipboard and the President. Rhythmic flashes of light reflected upon their faces from within the next room shown before them. Dressed in a suit as nice as the President's, Lee stared inside without moving for a good while. A girl with pale skin was hugging her knees to herself, face hidden in the knee caps. Medium-length lavender hair fell past her shoulders and shrouded her face.

"Ruby Darling... Seventeen years old. 5'7", 120 pounds... Rare genetic phenotypes of natural purple hair and eyes, possibly due to her unusual radioactive properties causing DNA mutations." The woman with the clipboard read aloud, "Entire family spontaneously inflicted with cancer same time her radioactive properties became active. Parents and siblings now currently deceased. Darling is unaware of her direct effect and it has been suggested due to the correlation with her emotions rising and the radioactivity that she is not informed."

Lee turned to lock eyes with the President, who looked stunned and at a lost of words. "If you approve of our company officially, we can proceed to make this country safer."

He shook his head in reply, "We have an approved organization that works in providing aid to these people. Yours isn't-"

"Ours is different with all due respect, sir. I respect the peaceful way of their organization that helps to teach people to control it as they research a cure or whatnot but what about the creatures like this one?"Lee interrupted, "There are those like her who will cause death wherever they go. We will do the dirty job that no one else wants to... But sir it needs to be done for the good of America. We will capture them and safely analyze them to find out to what extent danger they are to others around them and to what extent they can control their power. From there, we will take the necessary course of action. Those who can control their power and are no danger will be let free or given the option to aid our cause."

The President bit his lip finally and looked at him, "What are you going to do to this girl?"

"There is no possible way she can be let out. All attempts to help her will result in death to anyone who touches her. She must be deposed of unfortunately with your approval. There is no one in the world to miss her. Everyone she knows is dead."

He was silent a moment then finally he nodded. Lee pressed a button and the room began to fill with thick smoke. The lights kept flashing.
The President looked away while Lee stared without flinching. When the smoke finally cleared, the girl was gone.

"What?" Lee looked around in shock and finally slammed his fist down on a button. An alarm began blaring through the halls. Red lights flashed on and off, lighting up their flabbergasted expressions. The alarm was an ear-splitting wail. It rose to peak and then ebbed and rose to a peak again, undulating like a wave. The sound of many footsteps could dimly be heard under the alarm.

"There's no where for her to run."Lee assured the President, turning to chew his lip. He wasn't one hundred percent on that one.

Rose

"Just go inside. I'll get it right away for you. Make sure Seph isn't doing anything she shouldn't be, alright?"

"Gotcha. Thanks."Rose got to her feet and rushed inside. She looked in the spot Persephone had been in, panic settling in her stomach when she realized she no longer resided in that particular place. "Seph!"She called and looked around. The sound of running water made her gaze up the stairs. She hurried up and peeked in the bathroom silently. She could see the top of her head over the edge of the tub.

Persephone was probably having a bit of a freak-out much like the one Rose had just had. She could understand why Persephone was probably sitting in the tub like that. She had done the same multiple times. She shut the door without a sound and came back down to find the boxes of food by the kitchen. She rummaged through it to find some suitable things and quickly began preparing lunch. She heard Xavier making his way down the stairs and called to him, "She's in the shower!" Rose was pretty sure he knew that since the sound of running water was the only thing breaking the silence in the house.

She was just about finished with the food when Persephone scampered in like a kitten that had just been startled. Rose swallowed. Every time she saw Persephone and saw those scars... All she could see was that horrible man slashing up her sister right before her eyes. She quickly looked down to keep herself from staring off and letting her mind go back to nightmare land.

"H-h-hey. It smells good." The smile she gave her made Rose want to cry. It was completely devoid of any happiness. How long were they going to feel like this?

Rose glanced back up at her, "Oh yeah? I bet you must be pretty hungry. It was a long ride. "
She set Persephone's portion on a plate and gently set it in front of her with a glass of lemonade. "Aw look it's your bunny slippers."Rose managed a genuine smile. "I missed seeing those cute little things. Are they still warm and cozy?"

Persephone

"Oh yeah? I bet you must be pretty hungry. It was a long ride."Rose told her while setting a plate of food and lemonade in front of her. She jerked her head in a sort of nod clumsily and then cleared her throat. Thank God, she thought, that Rose broke the awkward silence by saying,"Aw look it's your bunny slippers."Her smile was genuine which soothed Persephone's fears she had looked like an idiot. "I missed seeing those cute little things. Are they still warm and cozy?"

"Y-Yeah," Persephone replied and looked at her vegetable omelette; then back down to her feet and up. "They are. Where are your slippers?"There was this annoying habit she had where she used her hands to talk as if they were a language of their own. It was a quirk her parents had been trying to help her with when she became nervous or humiliated herself. Since the tragedies, she was not able to help herself. "Your slippers." She tensed when Xavier came in and looked at Rose. Persephone ducked her head and began to dig into her food though without much excitement. It only prolonged her suffering on Earth.

"It smells delicious, Rose. Wonderful job, honey."He came over and fixed himself a plate of eggs, bacon, and toast. "Sit down and I'll get you some, too."He made a plate for Rose and set it down. He sat across from them and began to eat hungrily. "This is so good, Rose. You're an amazing cook. I'll have to get your help when cooking." He winked at her though he had nothing to say to Persephone. That much was expected, almost wanted. It meant there was not a rude comment coming her way. Currently there was none and Seph thanked God for it, but she knew it was because Rose was here and he wouldn't do it in front of her.

She stared at her omelette and gobbled it up to ease the nausea rising in her stomach from her thoughts.

Marcy

The music blared out of the car as Marcy hung her arm out the window. She enjoyed car rides in the summer more than anyone knew. It was relaxing and peaceful and some of her best memories were in them. She remembered driving with Jessie, Isabelle, and Shay and singing at the top of their lungs along to the music. Marcy could not sing for her life though she could dance. When Jessie, Victorie, and her danced in the car, the others, including the guys, would yell at them for being distracting even though they secretly found it hilarious.

She smiled to herself and turned up volume. She remembered the party the seniors threw the previous night and grinned to herself. It would be amazing, fun year, and she was so so excited for it. Marcy was always intoxicated by enjoying life and friends in general and was easily excited. Even school, though as annoying and hellish, was exciting. She hoped she'd be with her friends. And dear God, dance started up too. Marcy couldn't help but tremble with joy.

The song skipped ahead and she refocused on it to sing along. "Oh girl, you're shining like a fifth avenue diamond and they don't make you like they used to and you're never going out of styleeee!" She giggled along to the song instead of singing, since she screeched like a cat. She loved Hunter's patience with her and how he let her sing. "You're over my head, out of my mind, thinking I was born in the wrong time!" She looked at Hunter and fell into hysterics. Her voice had cracked awkwardly at the higher notes. She could not wait to go home because she knew Jessie and Izzy were there and oh God, they could hangout together. She managed to stop giggling and leaned back in her seat.

"Sorry," she told him and snorted into laughter. "I'm done. I swear."How many times had she told him that lie? She turned her head away to keep from laughing more. Marcy grinned and rested her head on the back of the seat.

James

James watched from the window and opened the side door to join the others. Inside, he had been watching TV and eating cereal out of the box. No matter how many times his parents told him, James found himself repeatedly doing it. He couldn't help it. Applejacks tasted amazing; though he had enough manners to know to clean up after himself. It was almost a silent deal in the family: do it if you'll clean up after yourself. Jason, on the other hand, could do better. He laughed to himself. He was not sure how Marcy was related to them: she was polite, well-mannered, and followed the rules to a T. She was the model child, even if she was not their full sibling. He thought of her as one and didn't think differently. Though Mar was a model child, he was above average and Jason, well... He shook his head, smirking.

He joined Jessie, Jason, and Isabelle and looked at them.
"New neighbors?" he quizzed in a soft voice and looked over. "I saw them from inside. I didn't see any parents, did you?" [olor=orange]He sat down on a the bench nearby. "We should probably quit staring, don't you think?" He smirked at Jessie and turned away. It was an unspoken conversation around the group that he had a crush on her. It was something he tried not to think about and keep out of his mind. Besides, the way he had heard her swooning over the tall, dark-haired boy, was a hint she was not into him. James knew better than to chase her, anyways, and ruin their friendship and make it awkward. Besides, the tiny blonde looked adorable and he wanted to talk to her.

He looked over at them. "Mar's coming home today, right? I miss her." Unlike most siblings, the trio were incredibly close. It shocked their parents most of the time. He went to continue speaking when someone jumped on him from behind. He screamed and stumbled while the person slid off of him to crack up hysterically. He recognized it as Shay. She must have come in from the background or around the house because he hadn't seen her. She had spun him around to see his expression, too.

"YOUR FACE!!"She doubled over, laughing and holding her sides. He glanced at her, scowling, though amused. She wore a tank-top and running shorts with a matching pair of tennis shoes. Her long black hair that he admired, was pulled into her trademark braid. She had sweat pouring off of her, though she paid no mind toit. She doubled over, laughing. "God, his face!"

James sighed, shaking his head. "I'll get you back. Don't worry."

"Yeah, right," She rolled her eyes and grabbed a water bottle form the cooler outside. She took the cap off and chugged it.

James turned away and looked at the others.
"So, it's just three teens together? That's odd."

"You're odd, fraidy cat." Shay told him once she was done chugging.James sighed to keep his patience, though he couldn't deny the grin on his face.

Rose

"My slippers are in my room by my bed."Rose told Persephone as she sat down to eat. She smiled at Xavier when he complimented her and made her a plate. She then laughed at his next comment, "Yeah you kinda need a little bit of guidance."She patted his back gently. "Sorry." She looked down at her food and bit her lip. It was so hard to find an appetite lately. She took her eyes off the food and began eating reluctantly. After finally finishing, she got up and went to the window. She had spotted the teens peeking through the fence at them. She smirked a little. Once upon a time, that probably would have been her too.

She felt a little wild so she opened the window and waved to them, letting them know she saw them. She giggled to herself. They were probably embarrassed to be caught spying but it was funny to her all the same. The two girls who had been giggling and whispering to each other suddenly ducked behind the fence and she burst out laughing. She looked back over her shoulder at Xavier as she leaned on the counter. "Xavier those girls totally like you."

Hunter
Marcy was so cute when she sang. Hunter loved her. He laughed as she sang but kept his focus on the road. It was hard to when someone so beautiful and adorable was sitting next to him.

"Sorry I'm done I swear." He had heard that one so many times. He knew she would start singing as soon as the next song came on.

"No keep singing!"Hunter insisted, "You're so cute I'm gonna pinch your cheeks like my annoying grandma does to us."

He drove up to an intersection and stopped at the stoplight. They were almost to the Salvatore house. It was right on the corner. However, there was a car across the street that had come to the intersection as well. As soon as Hunter went to go, thinking he had the right of way, the driver accelerated straight into theirs. Hunter didn't even have any time to scream before all went black.

Marcy

One minute Marcy was joking with Hunter and singing along to the radio; the next, she was screaming Hunter's name in terror as the car barreled towards them. It happened too quick for her to move. Otherwise, she would have tried to protect Hunter, but it was no use. The windshield and mirrors shattered loudly as the glass struck them. She cried out in pain as it pierced her skin all over. The car flipped twice, causing her to scream with terror as tears filled her eyes. This was not happening! This had to be a nightmare...

She wailed in pain as she was tossed around the car like a toy, banging her head against the passenger door. The noise was ear deafening. She would never in her lifetime forget the way it sounded. She slumped in her seat once it was over. She stared blankly ahead of her, drenched in blood. Her hair was matted with glass and debris and the airbag was in her face. She tried to move but her body wouldn't allow her. The shattered mirror ahead of her told her that Hunter had passed out. She spoke, her but no sound came out. The pain allover her body paralyzed her.

Marcy sobbed hysterically with shock. Hunter. - Was Hunter dead? Oh God. No. She willed him to be safe on the grass, out of this mess. Before she saw anything, her vision went dark and hazy and her head fell against the seat. What she didn't notice was that Hunter was indeed laying on the grass instead of the car.

Persephone

The unexpected thud and glass shattering caused Persephone to jump out of her seat and dive under the table. She curled up, terrified. She saw the glass in her mind's eye, the scream of her parent's, and then Rose hiding in the closet. She remained like that for several minutes, processing everything. She shook uncontrollably on the floor with hiccups and sobs. However, the screams she heard presently were unfamiliar. Xavier had tensed and grabbed Rose and held her tightly to him. When nothing happened in the house, she glanced around. Her siblings weren't yelling. She frowned and crawled out from underneath and over to the window and gasped. There was a vehicle in the street flipped over. A girl was in the car, passed out; on the grass laid an injured young man. She inhaled and ran out of the house quickly. She didn't know what she was doing; all she knew was if she didn't leave the house now, she would breakdown.

When she arrived on the scene, she saw the group of teens from earlier nearby. A brown haired boy was wailing and sobbing as he tried to pull pout the girl. She watched, though her mind was reeling. It was like a movie; she wasn't in control of her own movements. Her body wasn't real to her and she felt as if she were watching from above, now in front. She ran over and pulled the boy away with shocking strength. "You can't move her; you could break her body or kill her." He stared at her with the sweetest brown eyes she had ever seen. She gently, or in her mind anyway pulled him away. Persephone didn't realize she had used super-strength or even possessed it. "Call 911. That's how you can help her," The boy sniffled and ran over to the curb where he plopped down and began his hysterical phone call to 911.

Persephone watched a tall dark-haired girl run over and join him. After a few moments, she checked his pulse. The tears in her eyes caused it to be difficult for her to see, since she kept blinking. Her hands shook as she gripped the young man's wrist. "He's alive," The boy she had sat beside earlier sighed in relief despite his sobs. She hadn't noticed, but Xavier had his hand on her shoulder and was staring at the wreck. She cringed when she felt the pressure and slide away from him. He sighed, letting his hand fall away. Persephone stared at him and noticed he looked paler. The fear in his eyes for these teens and his shock at the incident were clear. He had wanted nothing but peace but wasn't getting any of it.

He went over to the car as crowds gathered from the neighborhood. She was willing the girl back to life. Voices filled the air around her but she couldn't hear them. Orbs of light were filling the scene, though nobody was paying much attention; or so she thought. It felt like years before they went away and there was silence. The only sounds were the wind rustling through the trees and the group crying. She looked around and stumbled. The scene materialized in front of her eyes and was staring directly at it. Persephone flinched and found people were not only staring at the car wreck, but her face. She quickly ducked her head and moved to the other side so she was out of view to the majority.

James

James' world was crashing down around him. It had gone black and white. He was barley able to hold the phone and tell the dispatcher about the accident. Once he managed to sob it out, he began to hyperventilate. He laid on his side, bawling. His sister and best friend might die. He refused to move and held his knees. Shay was beside him, comforting him with her sweet voice; though her words didn't add together in his head. He clutched his sides, begging Jason to come over. He needed to know he was safe. If he lost him too...

When the siren wails pierced his ears, eh flinched and sat up. Help was on the way... Marcy or Hunter were not going to die. He watched as Marcy's slumped figure slid a few inches in her seat without her control. He let out a gasp and squinted through tears. Had she... No. He watched as she eventually began to stir feebly, but didn't open her eyes. He inhaled sharply and numbly stood up, but his knees unbuckled. He hit the ground and trembled. "Marcy, Hunter," His voice was shaky and hoarse. "Please don't die."

The blonde-scar-faced girl from earlier glanced over at him. "They're alive. Don't worry." He stared at her and jumped in surprise. How did she know? He opened his mouth but the words came out unintelligible from his crying. "I saw them both move." It looked at is she wouldn't properly answer the question, or was hesitated. He wasn't certain nor did he care. They were alive. She was confirming it..His focus was broken as the ambulances, cops, and fire trucks. They began ordering people away, though he refused to move. He watched shakily as the EMT's began to assist Marcy and Hunter.

The rest was a blur; once Marcy was out of the car, he let out a scream of shock. She was covered in blood, had multiple broken bones or so it appeared. He started to sob again and run over madly. In the corner of his eye, he saw Hunter being helped too. Shay was following his stretcher and holding his hand tightly "That's my sister. Our sister." The EMT nodded to him and allowed him in the ambulance. Inside it, they began to hook her up to equipment and ordered him to stay out of the way. He stood in the back with his head buried in his hands, miserable.

Rosaline
_____________________________

The loud thud had made Rose nearly jump out of her skin. She jumped practically over to Xavier, clutching him with sudden terror. She shut her eyes tight, fighting flashbacks. Were the killers here? Did they find their house? Paranoia filled her and tears slipped past her shut eyes. She stayed like that, shaking until the screams of other people registered in her mind finally. Daring to peek, she watched Persephone randomly bolt out of the house. Slowly, she untangled herself from Xavier and went to the window. There were two passed out people, one in a totally wrecked car and the other in the grass. Teenagers were running out of the house over to them. All the blood made her want to go run up the stairs and hide but she knew she couldn't. She had to be strong.

She finally looked at Xavier and managed to get out in her shock, "We have to help." Rose opened the door and made her way over to the area as well. One boy, who had to be the most adorable and sweet boy she had ever seen, was sobbing hysterically. She wished she could hug him and comfort him but she had no idea what to do. There was a boy who looked quite similar to him knelt at his side, tears streaming down his cheeks and a girl with beautiful golden hair crying next to them. A brunette joined with a black-haired boy with stunning blue eyes. They all seemed like they belonged on a teen show where the cast was all absurdly attractive.

She sincerely hoped the pair would be alright. Rose hated seeing people in pain like this. No one should have to feel the pain of loss. She swallowed, watching as the ambulance arrived with its loud sirens. She had come over with intention to help but it seemed there was not much to do at all. Persephone had already helped before she and Xavier arrived.

Jessamine
_____________________________

Jessamine hadn't felt so sick inside in months. One moment she had been watching the car crash from the backyard and then the next, she had found herself staring down at her unconscious, bloody best friend, sobbing. "Marcy, marcy, oh God please no." She keeled over, crying hysterically. She could hear James crying too next to her and pulled him close to her, burying her face in his shoulder. She barely registered Jason sitting next to them and hugging the both of them. Glancing up at him, she saw even he was tearing up. Jason let go after a moment and before examining Marcy with shaking hands, not daring to touch her.

"She's going to live." Jason stated hoarsely, "I don't see anything life threatening as far as I can tell." He glanced over suddenly as footsteps made him protectively move in front of Marcy. It was the girl from next door. Looking at her closely now, he could see her face was covered in scars. What the hell had happened to her? She calmly stated that they were alive, following up that she had seen them move.

"She's right."came Xander's voice as he came to stand next to them, staring down at them. Isabelle ran over, practically throwing herself at Jessamine and hugging her, crying. "They're both alive." Jessamine wasn't so sure what made them both so sure but it was good to hear. She nodded toward him slowly, hiccuping with sobs still.

The wailing sirens made them all look over as the ambulance finally arrived. Jessamine found all she could was watch as they moved her friends on to the stretchers. However, the sight of Hunter in the grass made her heart lurch with sudden remembrance.

"... I'm having deja vu." Isabelle said suddenly with a sniffle. Jessamine couldn't agree more. She remembered this sight. A car accident... A man on the road. Her own screaming filled her ears and she jumped to her feet in shock. Isabelle stared up at her in confusion.

"I'm going to go with James on the ambulance."Jason said quietly to them, wiping his eyes. He ran over to join him on the ambulance. Poor thing was so consumed with panic and worry for Marcy. James and Jason loved her so much. Jessamine knew she loved her too. She wished she could go on the ambulance with them but they'd probably have to catch up in their own car.

The ambulances left with the two. Jessamine barely noticed Xander coming over to hug her to him. How could this have happened to Marcy and Hunter? They were both the sweetest people.

"They're going to be okay."Xander said reassuringly. She followed his gaze to find all three neighbors were standing there.

Jessamine wiped her eyes, trying to offer the three a smile, "Hey guys. Thank you so much for coming out to see if we are okay. I wish we could have met you on better circumstances."
The pretty little blonde girl looked so scared but she seemed to have tried to smile back at Jessamine. She wondered what had happened to these people. The two girls seemed so off.

"It's no problem. I'm really sorry this happened."She had replied.

Jessamine felt Isabelle shift uncomfortably next to her and glanced over to look at her.
"There was another accident. Right? I'm not crazy? "She asked.

"What are you talking about?" Xander replied. He was standing off next to Shay. She supposed he had been checking up on her.

Jessamine nodded, "Yeah... I remember one too I think. Someone got hit by a car...-" Memories flashed by her. She remembered the accident now. The night of the party. However, she couldn't remember what had happened afterwards. That was until she saw the asian man on the corner of the block staring at them.

TIME SKIP - 30 minutes later. ER waiting room

James

At the hospital, James paced like a caged tiger in the waiting room. Marcy and Hunter were being treated in the back. He didn't know what to do if he lost his sister. His family and friends meant everything to him. He glanced at Jason for help and hugged him tight. "Please don't leave me, Jace," He sniffled and watched doctors rush down the hallway to the ER surgery area. He swallowed a lump in his throat and sat down. He prayed to God that his sister and best friend were safe. He needed them both to be okay. His heart had never pounded so hard. Their parents had been contacted and informed. They were more than an hour away though so it would be a while before they arrived.

He watched as Shay came in with McDonald's, coffees, and a few other bags. She looked haggered, but James understood. Her hair was windswept and she was pale. Her silver eyes had lost their usual sparkle. She sat beside the two of them and set the coffees and bags down. "I got us all a little bit of comfort food." She explained and nodded to the big bag, "And some gifts for Marcy and Hunter." She wrapped her arms around the twins and pulled them into a hug towards her. "I love you both. I'm here for you." Then, she let go, and folded her hands together and bit her lip hard.

What Jessie and Isabelle had said about deja vue was familiar. In Shay's case, it hadn't been cars but instead it had been a demolition with construction workers. Apparently, there had been a strong thunderstorm that day, but why? There had been no reports and nobody had a clue what she had meant. It went black before she could recall what happened after though. She had woken up in her house after it with a hazy memory. Now that she thought of it, the skies had been clear that day. She shook her head with a grunt and dismissed it from her mind. She had to focus on reality: the Salvatore's and Hunter needed her. She looked at the two of them and then down at her bag. She took a book out for James and the leaned into Jason. She took his hands and held them tightly.

Jason
_____________________________

Jason had been pacing back and forth when he wasn't sitting down and shaking his leg. He had never felt so anxious and helpless in his life. That was his little sister in the room critically injured. He couldn't believe this happened. How could it? Nothing bad ever happened. It felt like a bad dream. James' hug brought him out of his reverie as well as his voice"Please don't leave me, Jace."

He hugged James back, "I'll never leave you brother." Rubbing his back, he followed his gaze as more doctors went towards the ER. Shay came in clutch, bringing Mcdonalds and other bags. He could always count on her to try to cheer them up. He smiled at her but couldn't bring himself to talk much. He was afraid if he talked too much he would just break down. He hugged her tightly when she came over. "I love you Shay." She was always there for him when he needed it. He never knew how to make it up to her. Once she had leaned into him, he wrapped his arms around her, sitting with her.

Jason glanced a bit over towards Jessamine. Isabelle had went home to check on her siblings and said she'd be coming back with Luke. She was sitting off to the side alone, arms at her sides, head downward. She wouldn't pick her gaze off the ground. He caught a glimpse of her eyes and tensed. Her pupils were dilated in terror and she was clutching the edges of the chair. She looked like she had seen a demon.

Xander had been sitting with her. He had noted it in the back of his mind but hadn't paid much mind to either of them since he had been distracted with Marcy and Hunter. He had now gotten up to stand nearby Shay rather protectively. Jason wondered who Xander was trying to protect them from. He had never seen him act like this.

Marcy

One hour later

When Marcy woke up, she found herself staring at a white marble ceiling. She glanced around in confusion. This place was unrecognizable. Where was she? Her senses rapidly came at her. There was a routine beeping to her right. After she moved her hand, she discovered there was an IV in it. Memories of the crash briefly filled her mind, but it was fast for her to clearly recall the details. The pain blinded her and she gritted her teeth from it. It felt as if her whole body had been trampled on. Everything hurt. Her mind began racing. Hunter.. Was he okay? She had to find out. She tried to yell his name but was met with silence. Panic rose inside of her, causing the rhythmic beeping to escalate. She spoke again, but gibberish came out. She raised her hand and batted at the wires angrily. She had to find Hunter. what if he was seriously injured, or worse, dead? Where was her family? Marcy' eyes filled with tears.

Marcy imagined Jason and James, terrified out of their minds; Jessie crying, the others grief-stricken and panicking. Why couldn't she get up? She glanced at her body and found it wouldn't move an inch. Her breathing hitched and the beeping accelerated. "Oh shut up," she manged to whisper. Running footsteps alarmed her and she quickly shut her eyes. Voices filled the room.

"She's definitely awake," a doctor informed the others as he checked on her. "And completely fine." He scratched his head, perplexed. Marcy squinted up, barely opening her eyelids. He had scruffy black hair and dark green eyes.

"She's lucky, incredibly lucky," a nurse agreed as she came over to check her blood pressure. "Either she's passed out or playing opossum." She smirked down to Marcy who had shut her eyes quickly before they noticed. The beeping was beginning to deescalate now. Thank God. She wanted them to go away but she needed to find out about Hunter.

She finally looked up at the crowd.
