Over 200 years ago, the world as we know it today ended.

It's not like we didn't know it was going to happen. Scientist had been monitoring earths radiation, pollution, oxygen, and resources levels for decades. The sea level was rising at an alarming rate. Based on their calculations, the earth would be covered in water with in the next century. So the construction of the floating cities began. Some nations and world leaders refused to look at the facts, and disregard the warnings.

The cities were created to save humanity from extinction. Each one big enough to support a population of 1 million people. Many more cities were to be built, but then the Nuclear World War (aka WW5) started, and construction came to a halt. The people deemed to important to lose (Technicians, Doctors, scientists, historians, inventor, survivalist, engineers, and specialists) were given priority and sent with their families to take their place in one of the cities. Over the next five years the war got worse and the new floating cities were reaching capacity.

The rich, educated, and young were given priority over all others. Anyone with deformities, illness, medical disorders, criminal records, or over the age of 65 were denied indefinitely and left to fend for themselves as the water rose. three years later the WW5 finally ended, as it became apparent to everyone on earth that the end was coming. Riots broke out, and people gave everything they had for a boat, and seeds. Women purposefully would get pregnant so that they could be boosted up the list for the few remaining spots to enter a floating city.

Two years later multiple natural disasters hit one right after the other. Tsunamis sunk countries overnight. Every volcano on earth erupted at the same time. Hurricanes ripped across every continent, and earthquakes crumbled cities to dust. The world flooded. Those days of disasters would come to be called the months of omega.

It has been over 200 years since the end. The remains of human civilization live on ramshackle floating communities known as atolls made from scrap, having long forgotten about living on land. Many people also live in fleets of connected communities. Most of mankind's old technology is lost. Currency has ceased existing, as barter and trade is the predominant way to obtain things you can't make/find yourself. Things like fresh Water, food, rich soil, plants, wood, metal, and paper are considered precious. Etc. I have more to add if there is enough interest to start up an OOC.

Here is and inspiration board that can help set the mood.

It's true that loner anti-heroes are in abundance on this site. haha. If we are talking the gil mutation and webbed feet thing that I would probably limit the open spaces for them. We can't all be fish people!

I love this idea, it sounds like it has a lot of potential for story lines.
