Today marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of the end of the Locust Wars, and the continuing era of peace for all upon Sera. This is a day of not only mourning but also celebration. It is a day to remember all those who were lost, to give thanks to their sacrifices, and to celebrate our new future of peace and prosperity. Almost every city across Sera has a event being held in them in regards to this momentous day, but the main event is being held in the C.O.G. city of New Athera, where First Minister Jinn speaks upon a massive crowd that has gathered. Jinn commends the bravery of the veteran Gears present on the stage, but laments the absence of Marcus Fenix from the ceremony.
"Today, we are humbled by the presence of two generations of men and women who braved every danger. Who fought the battles that made us what we are. But only two years later, a new horror, a new enemy, a new war. By Nightfall, hundreds of thousands were dead, Emergence Day had earned its name. Like many of you, I was only a child then, it was a dark, terrible time and our Victory was in no way assured. But against all odds, a brave group of soldiers, lead by Marcus Fenix, finally ended our locust nightmare. How dearly, I wish that Sargent Fenix could be with us this here today. Stop and think about the men and women who's sacrifices guaranteed our survival. Thanks to them, we fought through the long twilight, we built a new prosperity. The world the new C.O.G. has insured knows no war, no suffering, it's a world of safety, of family, a world finely at peace."
The crowed would cheer and clap their hands together in excitement and appreciation before all those on stage would stand and salute the C.O.G. flag in the background. Artillery cannons would fire off six shots in unison and then the celebrations would begin. Not all would be joining the celebration or watching the broadcast upon their televisions, some would be out working hard to make a life for themselves.
Outside the ever watchful eyes of the C.O.G. and their cities, a group of civilians who had broken off from the Coalition of Ordered Governments lived a much harder but more rewarding and free life than those who lived elsewhere. Many of these civilians, who are known as exiles, had fought alongside Marcus Fenix, and many others had been soldiers under the same flag. They had created their own towns and villages by gathering supplies from a large number of areas, or from stealing them from settlements that were being built. Due to this, supplies were rather hard to come by, even with all that was left over from the Locust war, scattered around them.
On this day, the twenty-fifth anniversary of the end of the Locust Wars, one small village of exiles was hard at work, discussing what supplies and equipment should be lifted from the nearest C.O.G. settlement that was being built. The group of people who ran the village had met inside of a small metal plated and rather worn down looking building that they used for their meeting room. The two males and two female adults had talked for over three hours and had made a list of everything they needed the most, and what could be acquired with the least amount of risk to those who were the most skilled at gathering supplies and equipment.
For a little while longer, they discussed which scavenging team they were going to send out to the C.O.G. Settlement, known as "New Horizons" and Delta Squad Three was unanimously chosen. "They have the highest turn up rate for supplies and equipment, none of them have been caught, and their leader was trained by Marcus Fenix himself after the Locus Wars." One of the male leaders said, "I shall inform them that they will be heading out in a couple hours, and that they are to stay away from any replicators they may find, I know that Aviza has been wanting to find one for the village but it is to risky." The others that sat around this rugged looking man nodded their heads in agreement.
With everything being said and done, the rugged looking man dismissed everyone from the meeting room and left to go inform each member of Aviza's salvage and recon squad that they had an important mission to carry out this afternoon. As soon as he had left the meeting room though, he stopped for a moment on the steps that lead into the metallic building and looking up into the mostly clear blue sky above him and allowed his eyesight to follow an ominous looking group of dark clouds that were heading their way. He could feel it in his bones, the weather was about to change and with it, a storm was coming. If they were lucky they could use the storm as cover from any C.O.G. drones that were in the New Horizons Settlement. This thought ran through his mind as he took a continued on his way towards the barracks where he knew he would find Aviza's closely knit squad. They would all be sitting around playing poker, air hockey, pool, or something else of the sort in the lounge area of the Barracks, enjoying what they thought was their day off.
The Barracks was more of a bunker that lead down into the earth below and was in fantastic condition, even when how old it was. The large metallic door that lead into the bunker was open and unlocked, the sound of music from many years ago could be heard playing from inside alongside the sound of talking and every once in a while, a laugh. The rugged man walked into the bunker and kept moving down the reinforced concrete stairs that ended up with carpet upon them about ninety percent of the way down. The warm and welcoming glow from the lights far, far down inside of the bunker were a welcoming sight and so were all the pleasant sounds and smells. The intro of the bunker had been painstakingly redecorated and refurbished over the many years it had been used and now looked more like the inside of a wealthy and luxurious mansion that were so rarely found those days.
He continued to walk through the bunker, letting his heavy footsteps fall upon soft carpet, following the sounds that came from the lounge area. Walking to a metal door that lead into this area of relaxation, he found it propped open with a large metal keg of beer, which Aviza and her squad had picked up on their last settlement raid, much to the thanks of the others in the village. With a heavy sigh, the rugged man used his left foot to push to keg out of the door and out of his way so that he could enter. They were doing what he had expected, goofing off playing pool on another item they had lifted from a settlement being built. How they had gotten it all the way through the settlement with its drones and security while remaining unseen was still a mystery to him, Aviza and her squad had kept their mouth shut about how most of the heavy objects and other hard to find things had seemingly showed up over night in the lounge or another area of the sort for everyone to use. It got to the point where he had just accepted it and asked them to be careful and not do anything to crazy.
Aviza, the leader of her squad had short blonde hair that barely made it to her ears and had been spiked in a way. Her eyes were sapphire baby blue and seemed to glow if you looked at them in the right lighting. Her form was slim and attractive but well built like the other female C.O.G. soldiers, even though she had left them many years ago. She was now stretched out over part of the left end of the pool table, taking aim at the cue-ball with her pool cue. Very shortly after, she moved the stick quickly with one swift motion and the cue-ball went flying across the high-quality pool table and broke two stripped balls apart, one of them was the ball of three and the other was the ball of seven, both of them went into the pool tables pockets, resulting in a triumphant cheer from Aviza while the squad member across from her tossed his hands up into the air in frustration, which was more out of surprise than anything else.
"Ah ha! Hell of a shot right there." said Aviza, before noticing that the rugged man was standing in the door way that lead into the lounge. "Afternoon Nick, my apologies that I did't see you sooner, I was focusing on the game here." She would give him a soft smirk before moving away from the pool table and letting the other player who take his shot. Nick, the rugged man, had actually waited for Aviza to hit the ball before letting his presence be known, but everything worked out just fine in the end.
"Afternoon Aviza and crew, I am sorry to interrupt your rest and relaxation on this Saturday, but I just got out of a meeting with the rest of the leaders of the town. We have a mission of high importance for all of you to run at New Horizons, that new C.O.G. settlement they are building, the one none of us have been to yet. I have the list of everything we would like you to gather, this time around please do not go bringing back anything we do not need. I appreciate all the fun things you all bring back but I hear they have stepped up their security at these new settlements, just be careful and please don't get caught. I do not want to make a call to you know who and have him bail all of you out of some mess again." Aviza was quick to respond, setting up the pool cue back on its rack and gathering her equipment that was piled in the corner of the room, on a reclining couch.
Right then and there, she slipped her heavily modified C.O.G. armor on over her normal military outfit and nodded at Nick in acknowledgement. "You can trust in us Nick, unless they have something I cannot live without. All kidding aside, we will be ready to go in a moments notice, when should we move out?" Nick watched Aviza as she effortlessly slipped her armor on, then spoke. "Well, there is currently a storm heading this way, I expect it to hit in under the hour and visibility will drop quite a bit. My orders are to leave in the next thirty, but leaving as soon as possible is the best option in this scenario." Aviza nodded her head once more and looked around at her squad, "Alright Delta Three, Gear up and meet me outside, we will finish our R and R later, double time it!" With that, she followed Nick out of the lounge and through the bunker, tailing behind him as he walked up the stairs and outside into the fresh air. Once outside and a distance down the concrete path that lead away from the bunker, Aviza's gaze drifted up towards the sky, she could clearly see that a heavy storm, ominous and dark, was indeed heading their way.
"Today, we are humbled by the presence of two generations of men and women who braved every danger. Who fought the battles that made us what we are. Hello everyone and thank you for your interest in Gears of War: The Nightmare Reborn. This RP takes place twenty-five years after the ending of Gears of War 3 (The Locust Wars) and begins roughly around the time that Gears of War 4 starts. Each of us will be playing the part of an Ex-C.O.G. soldier who has turned exile to keep away from the questionable and oppressive ways of the C.O.G. We all live in a exile town known as Anchor and help support said town by running supply and scouting missions to help keep everyone alive and everything in working order.
Our first assignment will be to raid a new C.O.G. settlement known as "New Horizons" for a number desperately needed and very valuable supplies as well as equipment. We will have to be careful though, since the settlement that is being built has new security measures and drones that are set up around and inside of its walls. The way all of your characters act will have an effect on the outcome of this first mission and perhaps beyond.
Something else stirs in the abyssal darkness though, and the C.O.G. could turn out to be the least of our troubles as we progress through the story. There are a lot worse things lurking out there just waiting to attack us, and some things that are all to familiar. Just as in the games, I plan to make this RP huge and epic, with battles, challenges we must all work together to overcome, horrific discoveries, unique enemies, a bit of R&R, and a healthy amount of bloodshed. (That's where the 18+ comes into play.) If you have any questions, please let me know, I would be happy to answer them for you.

There are a couple very important rules I would like to lay out, they are as follows.
1: If the weapon is in the game and not a heavy weapon, you can use it.
2: If the armor is in the game, you can use it.
3: Please stick with one primary and one secondary weapon. (You can change weapons throughout the RP)
4: You can have two frags of your choice.
5: If someone or something is bothering you in the RP, please let me know via a PM.
6: When you apply to the RP, please post it in the OOC area. Once you are approved, you can post it in the character tab.
7: I expect a minimum of two paragraphs per post.
