I've heard whispers from the Iron Forest, about a blistering shadow, descending upon passersby with lightning and ice. She is the Witch Knight--a hero of the Old World. You're not ready to face the likes of her. Not by a century. But what choice do you have?

What's up everyone! The Tolkien Black Guy here with another roleplay for ya! This story takes place in my own universe called Midgard--a high fantasy world where humans and elves live side by side one another in harmony under the watchful eye of the New Gods. There are thousands of stories going on at any time in this universe, all of which have taken place after the great Cerberus god has been sealed away behind the Tree of Life. However, that's not the main focus of this story. I have a character named Amaranthine. She's a Witch Knight; someone who has gained access to magic by artificial means and was consumed by the Makai Wraiths--creatures that maintain balance in the Makai Grid, the source of all magic--but maintained her humanity. She protects the Iron Forest and the surrounding area as a vigilante. Tooth and claw in the shadows. A sword and shield in the night. A saviour in the dark.

I'm looking for a partner to create a story within this world. Perhaps you're a lawmaker on the hunt for the Witch Knight to bring her in for interrogation for a crime she didn't commit. Maybe you're a wayward traveler who stumbled upon her home. Maybe you're an old friend of her's before she became a Witch Knight and you need her help.

Either way I'd like to create a "this is bigger than you" story. What starts off as something small and simple turns out to be connected to a much larger conspiracy.

Magic plays a major role in this story. I have a magic system that's already in place but could us some polishing! Perhaps we could build a better magic system? Hard magic is my favourite!

Ideally, I'd like a moderate to advanced roleplay--I'm thinking 200 words minimum per post. I know lives get busy sometimes but if we could post at least once or twice a week that'd be awesome. Discord would be my main form of communication as I'm on there almost everyday! If this sounds like something you'd be interested in or you'd like to know more about the world of Midgard before venturing forward let me know! I look forward to hearing from you!

P.S. I've also created a playlist to give you an idea of the kind of story we'll be working with!

I'm potentially interested. I have a couple of thoughts on characters, but want to know more about the world before committing to fleshing anything out. Would you mind answering a couple of questions about the setting? c:

1. What sorts of creatures inhabit Midgard? You mention humans and elves (around which, I assume, the story would largely revolve) as well as Makai wraiths. Is there any other un-/super-natural fauna in the world?

2. Could I get the elevator pitch for the magic system?

3. When you say a "this is bigger than you" story, that implies to me that the main characters will be relatively low on the sheer-power-level totem pole as far as sentient beings go; i.e. I expect that there exist in the world (probably secret) greater powers than humans and elves. To what extent are your ideas about what these powers are baked into the setting and to what extent are you looking to explore them in the RP? Or just correct me if I'm completely off-base with the assumptions behind the question. c;

4. Could you tell me a little more about the New Gods? Are they active in the world? If so, how active? What is known as fact about them and what is mere legend, passed down through untold ages?

I would have no problem with the posting schedule you outlined, and should actually be able to post more often than that most of the time.

Also, I laughed when I looked at the playlist and recognized a next-to-verbatim list of my typical fantasy-reading-soundtrack fare.~

1.) There are dragons and they are the daughters of Bahamut--one of the New Gods. There are only seven of them left after the Age of Magic, during the War of Fire and Blood. They are the Celestial Dragons and currently are scattered all across Midgard within human hosts. There are whispers from the North of a Second War of Fire and Blood, but that can't be possible if there are only seven Dragon's left... There are also orcs. They're the peaceful type though. They farm and have close ties with some human cities.

2.) Makai is the force that holds the world together, and anyone gifted enough to tap into the Makai Grid, are trained to be either a Knight or a Priest. Once tapped into the Grid, Knights and Priests use alchemy and martial arts to re-weave the fabric of the world.

3.) You're correct in that the characters are relatively low on the power scale compared to other sentient beings like Dragons and gods. What I was referring to is that the story itself is "bigger than you" (than the characters). Everything can be connected one way or another. A very small and insignificant event--something as small as bumping into someone--can be part of another bigger event outside of the main story.

4.) The New Gods are the remaining sons and daughters of the Old Gods. They waged war on their parents, cast them out into darkness and as a result lost most of their other siblings. There are only nine left. They rebuilt the universe from scratch and thus we have our main story world. They're not very active. They just like to observe and let things happen as they will. That doesn't mean they CAN'T be active but for the most part they stay out of human business. However, the Cerberus did try and wipe out the planet Titan out of jealousy. The humans, elves and orcs joined together and sealed away Baast. One of the keys is missing, and it's possible that Baast has escaped...

"Jupiter Optimus Maximus, the Shining Father
Bahamut, Draconian of Blood and Fire
Felicitas, Lady of Luck and Chance
Hrothgar, Alchemic of Iron and Stone
Aqua, Leviathan of Water and Thunder
Aria, Anemoi of Wind and Song
Baast, Cerberus of Rage and Shadow
Garland, Knight of Magic and Knowledge
Kitusne, The Ninth of Trickery
Since the time before time, they have watched over Titan"

The time frame is just an estimate! I should be able to post more than that as well, especially during the daytime!
