I don't think I ever played a game that used classical music. In movies it's fairly common to use Beethoven, Verdi, Chopin etc. Why is it so rare i games? Many of the old masterpieces are very powerful, free ringtone
great mood-setters that I think would work fine, especially in set-pieces. Or why not use more modern popuar music, like Radiohead, Metallica etc? I understand that during regular gameplay u may have to listen to the same score for hours and that wouldn't really work. I'm more thinking about "special moments". Thoughts?

It's usually clashing unless it's a game like civilization, which did use classic. Like, you are playing Megaman Legends 2 on a PS1 and all of the sudden Vivaldi's The Four Seasons starts playing and it's just weird.

Have you played Eternal Sonata? The game is actually about Chopin and features a lot of classic music throughout.

The Argus fight from Asura's Wrath is perhaps the most appropriate use of Dvorak's new world symphony ever and no one will convince me otherwise.

Little King Story's soundtrack is nothing but classical music, mostly because it's all public domain and, thus, free to use.

Catherine's OST is full of remixes of classical music. If that counts...
