Lucien briefly glanced down at Marie at her question, honestly distracted by having been keeping his eyes on Faolan. He didn't like how close the other woman was getting to him when he was clearly uncomfortable with it. Granted not everyone could read Faolan's body language like he could but.. still.

"Me? I'm twenty-seven." He told her honestly, not even thinking twice about it. The Frenchman definitely did not look his age, but in that circumstance he had not even considered lying.

"The French age quite well, then. I'm a bit jealous." Marie chimed, before glancing over at Charlotte.

"Just the next block over, it's quite close." She responded to Faolan's question.

It was difficult for Lucien to maintain his focus on Faolan and Charlotte, any time he'd glance over to see what they were doing, Marie seemed to try to pull his attention away from them.

"So how come you've waited so long to drink? I hear the French love their wine." She commented.

"Oh.. well I've drank before, just not to this extent." Despite how sensible he sounded, he was trying to make an attempt to not slur his words as he spoke. He knew his head was still not clear, but at least the cool night air was helping him feel less warm. If he was feeling like this, he wondered how Faolan was faring. The man had a much higher body temperature than he.

Faolan grunted in understanding as the woman explained where she lived. His head was beginning to throb, not only from the pungent smell of their flowery fragrance, but also out of annoyance at the sound of their voices. This was why he didn't like bars, people like these two who couldn't mind their own business. And Lucien...of course he was drunk, they both were, but he had gone along with them without even trying to dissuade their attempts. Faolan knew they were only asking them to their home so they could get them alone...but, perhaps that was what Lucien wanted after all? Maybe the Frenchman had finally tired of Faolan's company and was seeking the companionship of someone else. Maybe he did this frequently when Faolan was away...not that it mattered, of course. The Irishman was only annoyed by it because it had ruined his otherwise pleasant night.

There was a lull in the conversation as the two of them walked, Charlotte continuing to look up at Faolan, desperate for his attention. Finally, she said, "These two are complete opposites. This one is so tall, broad shouldered...strong..." she said, her eyes making their way up and down Faolan's body as he walked.

"And quiet!" Marie chimed in, "At least this one likes to talk in his pretty accent." She said, pouting her lips toward Lucien.

Faolan, no longer able to take their chatter, muttered, "'This one' has a name..." under his breath, but loud enough for all to hear. He also shook his shoulder a bit to dislodge Charlotte, who seemed perturbed by this but did not let go, though it managed to put a little distance between them. At least her chest wasn't pressing against his arm anymore.

"Oh, of course, how rude of us!" Exclaimed Marie, "What are your names, boys?"

Faolan blew hard out from his nostriles in a sign of irritation, and turned his face away from the two women and Lucien as he grumbled, "Faolan," almost too quiet for anyone to make out.

At this point, even in his drunken state, Lucien could tell that Faolan was incredibly annoyed. It made him feel a little bad for having dragged him into this in the first place. All he had really wanted to enjoy a nice time with Faolan, but it seemed that the bright mood had passed. It was unfortunate. He'd be sure to apologize later. The Frenchman hadn't even bothered to re-state Faolan's name as the two women hadn't heard him. If he wanted it to be heard, he probably would have said it louder. Charlotte didn't make an attempt to ask again.

"What about you?" Marie asked, shifting the conversation back to him.

"Lucien." He responded, causing the women to smile.

"Lucien, hmm? What a nice name.." She said, trailing a finger down his arm.

"Ah.. thank you.." He responded. It was then that they seemed to arrive at what appeared to be an apartment building.

"Well, here's our stop. You two have been so kind for walking us all the way here, why don't you come inside? It's quite cold out today." Marie tugged slightly at Lucien's arm as she spoke, but he managed to stand his ground despite his slight lack of balance. It was only then that the women's intentions became clear to him.

"Oh.. I.." He struggled with his words briefly, attempting to clear the fuzz in his mind. "We thank you for your kind offer, but we should probably get going, it's quite late, and I'm sure you ladies need your rest. We just.. wanted to make sure you got home safely." He managed to say.

Faolan could feel the woman on his arm loosening her grip and was glad for it. It seemed that his body language had been enough to push her away. As they approached a building ahead, Charlotte seemed to let go of him entirely. The four approached the building, and stopped. Faolan kept his distance, averting his gaze from Lucien and Marie, who were engaged deeply in conversation.

He felt his heart thump loudly against his ribs as the woman asked them to come inside. He didn't know why exactly, but part of him feared that Lucien would agree. Faolan would refuse, no matter what, of course, but leaving Lucien there with them...the thought filled him with dread. He was slightly relieved when he heard Lucien's response, and looked up at the Frenchman for the first time since they had left the building.

"Oh, you can't mean that!" Marie said loudly at Lucien's response, and squeezed his arm close to her as she pulled him towards the door, "Come in...just for a little while, keep us company...we can't sleep in the house alone, right Charlotte?" she said, standing on tip-toe to get as close to Lucien's ear as she could.

Charlotte, who had seemed to catch on to Faolan's lack of interest, struggled to find and answer for a moment before saying, "That's right, it does get awfully lonely in there..." While she was going along with the other woman's pleas, she did not seem as committed, and for this, Faolan was glad.

Faolan, seeing Marie's proximity to Lucien's face, could not hold his irritation at bay any longer. He said, quietly but firmly, "Look, we're not interested in your...services. You best get inside before you catch cold in those...dresses." The last word slid out of his mouth with a hint of contempt.

At the sound of this, Marie turned her attention to Faolan, her brow furrowed in anger. Finally, she let go of Lucien's arm and placed both hands on her hips, clearly offended by what Faolan had implied. "Excuse me, mister, what did you just say?"

Faolan was fed up and could no longer keep his words or his emotions in check, "I said," he repeated, "We've got no coin for either of you, so you best be gettin' inside."

Marie was flabbergasted for a moment, her mouth hanging open like a dead trout, before she came to her senses and took a step toward Faolan, her finger extended to poke him in the chest. "And just what are you implying? My friend and I don't have to take this, it's harassment!" Her voice grew louder with each word.

Charlotte, seeing that the situation was getting out of hand, took a step toward her friend to intervene. "Marie, we should just go..."

Marie whirled on her friend in a flurry and yelled, "I'm not going anywhere until this molly apologizes to me!"

Faolan, his fists clenched at his sides, was clearly upset by the introduction of this slur, and he lunged toward the woman. "What did you just say!?" He rose his voice, not as loudly as hers, but enough to cause Charlotte to shrink away.

Marie, however, was not backing down. She took another step toward the Irishman and spat, "You heard me."

"Marie!" Charlotte called, now several steps away from them.

"What!?" The irate Marie answered back, her voice shrill, "Anyone can see from a mile away that he's sweet on the Frenchie. So, what, you jealous that he's getting a little attention from the proper sex?"

Lucien began to struggle with how to get himself out of this situation. If he had been sober, he could have easily managed, but this time aronud he had gotten himself in too deep without realizing. Now he understood what Faolan meant when he said that alcohol clouded one's mind. It was through this internal struggle of his that he heard the Irishman speak. It got the woman off his arm, but the nephilim wasn't really prepared for the situation that escalated afterwords. He found it hard to find a place to interrupt.

For a moment, he was shocked to hear the slur directed at Faolan. He furrowed his brow, his expression souring. Hearing Faolan raise his voice made him realize that he had to say something. He was angry, that much was clear. This had been only the second time that he had ever heard the Irishman raise his voice. Quickly he moved, to stand between Faolan and the woman, trying to choose his words carefully. At this point he just wanted to get Faolan out of here. At this point Marie was yelling, and at this time of night it could certainly bring some bad attention to them.

"I'm.. terribly sorry if we've offended you.. mademoiselle. I'm afraid the alcohol has gotten to his head.. I do hope you'll forgive his words.." He said hesitantly, bowing his head slightly in her direction. She didn't seem particularly satisfied with this, but he didn't want to give the woman time to protest further.

"I'm afraid we've overstayed our welcome. Do have a goodnight." As quick as he could manage with his lack of usual reflexes, he turned and placed a hand on Faolan's shoulder to guide him away from the situation.

"Hey wait a minute!" Marie called out, but was stopped by her more sensible friend.

"Marie just let it go, it's not worth it." Charlotte muttered. Clearly the other woman was displeased by this, but she let them go.

Lucien let out a relieved sigh as they turned the street corner and were completely out of the women's sight. He rubbed his forehead slightly, beginning to feel a slight throb at his head. That situation had certainly gotten out of hand. There had clearly been a misunderstanding here, it had happened before, long ago when they had first met on the boat. Why did people feel the need to resort to such slurs? Things like these clearly got a rise out of the Irishman. He didn't like seeing Faolan upset like this, and felt bad for being unable to defend him. In that situation, he just wanted them to be able to leave as quickly as possible.

"I'm sorry.. Faolan.. For dragging you into this. I wasn't thinking clearly.." He muttered apologetically. Not only had it ruined their good time, but it had clearly soured the man's mood.

Faolan had taken enough of this whore's malicious words. He felt the muscle in his arm tense as if to strike her, the sober part of him still holding back, when Lucien stepped between them. They were all lucky for this, Faolan would have acted out of pure anger and that was never a good thing.

Although Lucien had put himself in between the Irishman and the woman, Faolan couldn't take his eyes off of her snide painted face. He was practically snarling at her, but slowly his awareness returned as Lucien's words carried to his ears. So, it was their fault now? This was just like Lucien, to apologize for something that was not their fault at all. These women deserved whatever negativity would come down on them because of their insistence and their unctuousness. Faolan felt betrayed, furious, confused, and tired all at once. His head began to swim with these thoughts and emotions as Lucien led him away. He didn't even hear the rest of the conversation, nor did he hear the woman yelling after them.

Once they had stepped away, Faolan ruffled his shoulders to drop Lucien's hand. He didn't feel like be touched or comforted right now, he felt like punching something.

"Yeah, I can see that..." he grumbled as they walked, refusing to look in the Frenchman's direction. A small silence followed, and Faolan continued by snapping, "Next time you want to go on a wee escapade, keep me out of it." The booze was making him hot and angry; he was uncomfortable, his head hurt, his heart pounded roughly against his ribs with the adrenaline. He wanted nothing more than to lie down and sleep.

But the thought of Lucien with that woman...them touching each other, kissing, falling onto a bed...these images would not stop parading through his mind. He clenched his fist and jaw, over and over, recognizing a pain as his heart throbbed harder and harder. It hurt to think of this, and he wanted it to stop.

Lucien let his arm fall back to his side as Faolan shrugged away his hand. There was something about the way Faolan refused to look at him, it made him want to reach out and make him stop walking away from him, but he couldn't bring himself to do it. Faolan clearly did not want to be touched by him. His words slightly confused him. He knew that he had ended up dragging him along to the drinking and stuff but.. had he not had a good time prior to the women's arrival? The haze in his mind made his words harder to comprehend.

"Escapade..? What are you talking about? I just.. wanted to drink with you and have a nice time.. I'm sorry if I forced you into it.. I promise I'll never do it again.." His words were rushed, part of him desperate to ease Faolan's anger toward him.

He had thought Faolan had actually been enjoying himself before those women showed up but.. perhaps he had been wrong? Maybe he should have backed down when he had first told him he didn't drink. Maybe he had been angry the whole time and he had just finally snapped when the Marie insulted him. Lucien couldn't stop the paranoia that invaded his mind. Normally he was very confident when it came to reading the Irishman, but in his current state, he just didn't know.

Faolan huffed loudly at Lucien's response as he continued to walk away. He could tell that Lucien's words were genuine, but Faolan could not quell the fire boiling in his stomach and chest. He could feel his teeth grinding together.

He thought back over their night, how it had begun and ended, and wondered how it went so wrong. The interruption of their time together had been enough to annoy him, but everything that followed...it was like it had been designed solely to throw Faolan into a rage. He was surprised that he had managed to hold it together as long as he had, honestly.

"Have a 'nice time'...is that what you call it?" He asked, his tone harsh but his voice quiet, "This all could have been avoided if you had just listened to me." It was now that Faolan realized that he may be using words that were too harsh, too hurtful, but he couldn't stop himself from saying them. In this moment, he believed that everything he said was true.

Lucien's heart sank at Faolan's words, his previous thoughts now not wanting to leave him alone, his expression faltered slightly, and his pace slowed ever so slightly.

"I—" He paused. "Was.. I wrong to think that you were enjoying yourself prior to their interruption? I.. really am sorry. I just.. it felt like there was a different side of you that I hadn't gotten to see before.. and I couldn't help wanting to see more.. I got carried away.. I just.. wanted us to do something new together.." He couldn't help but blurt out his completely honest thoughts. He wanted Faolan to at least understand the reasoning behind why he had wanted to do this in the first place.

"Stop!" Faolan growled and turned on his heel to confront Lucien. He was now not watching anything he said, letting his emotions take over for his brain. "This is exactly what I'm talking about. You always...always lead people on! You say things that make them think, I don't know, make them misinterpret your intentions. You did it in the bar with those women, and you're doing it now with me." Although he kept his voice low, his tone remained harsh and flat. He needed Lucien to understand that the way he spoke, his natural charm, it made people think that he was...interested in them. If he didn't want people like those women...like Faolan to misunderstand, he had to choose his words more carefully. He couldn't listen to it any more, he didn't want to think that maybe Lucien meant something more to him than just a friend.

His head was swimming with confusion and...sadness now that had replaced the anger. Was this why he had gotten so angry? The thought of Lucien...being with someone else, spending his time and laughing, talking to, touching someone else...it made him upset. His heart began to pound again and the sound filled his ears. He didn't want to be confused any more, he just wanted to understand, for Lucien's words and thoughts to be clear to him. If he knew, if Lucien would just tell him...one way or another, maybe he could let it go...

Lucien was startled slightly by Faolan's sudden outburst. This had not been the first time they had had this conversation, but it was the first time that the Irishman sounded so angry about it. There had been plenty of circumstances in the past where he really had unintentionally made women think he was interested in them. He never really understood why, since all he was really trying to do was polite to them. He always treated people with equal kindness, but it seemed that tendency seemed to get him into trouble. He really had gotten more careful about what he said lately, but back at the bar he hadn't been given too much time to process.. and with the alcohol clouding his mind, it was difficult to talk his way out of the situation and politely decline the women's company.

"I-I'm sorry, Faolan! I've.. tried to be better about it, I just wasn't in the right state of mind. I.. wanted nothing to do with them. I wanted them to leave us alone I.. just didn't want to be rude.." He trailed off, and quickly shook his head, though that made his head throb. That wasn't the most important thing right now, he wanted to make sure that Faolan didn't misunderstand him.

"I don't understand! What have I mislead you about!" His voice was a little louder than intended, but he couldn't help but be confused. He had always, always been honest with Faolan, and he had never once said something to him that he didn't mean. If there was one thing he had valued in their friendship over the years after he had found out Faolan's secrets is how honest they were with each other. If there was something he was doing wrong, or if he was hurting Faolan in some way he didn't realize, then he wanted to know. The last thing he ever wanted to do was to hurt Faolan. There was nothing he loved more than to see him smile.

Faolan spoke without thinking as Lucien finished speaking, the words just dropped from his mouth, "Your feelings for me."

It had been building in him for a while, this confusion about Lucien and their relationship. He had always said that Faolan was his dearest, his closest friend, and that he owed him so much for letting him come along, that he valued their time together and worried when he was away during the full moon. Had this all been just the talk of friendship, or did Lucien feel something more for Faolan? The Irishman had never looked directly at this thought, never consciously entertained it, but now it was at the forefront of his mind. These past several hours, ever since they had left the bakery, had been driven by these thoughts and he was only now realizing it. Lucien's friendship, his companionship meant more to him than anything else in the world, but he had not seen that until this moment, until they were fighting with one another. This realization filled him with guilt and sadness, it defeated him. His shoulders slumped slightly, and the frown he had been holding dropped into a neutral expression. As he looked down at Lucien, whose eyes were glassy, whose breath was coming out in puffs on the cold night air, whose chest heaved and hands shook...he wanted nothing more than to comfort him, to show him how sorry he was for causing this upset. He wanted to fold him in his arms and tell him everything.

But he couldn't. It wasn't right, and he didn't need to expose himself to Lucien like this. It wouldn't be fair of him, and the risk of losing him was too high. Faolan couldn't take that chance.

"I don't...want to talk about this any more." He said quietly, finally fully deflated. "Let's just go, it's over." Even though it hurt to tear his eyes from Lucien's face, he turned away and started to head back to their lodging.

Lucien's eyes narrowed as Faolan answered his question. It hadn't been the kind of response he had been expecting, and it certainly stunned him into silence, and for a moment he could almost feel his heart pounding out of his chest. His... feelings for him?

It was then that everything finally snapped into place for the Frenchman. The woman's words from before.. and Faolan's reaction to them. It had been the Irishman getting defensive.. Had his words and actions made Faolan believe he had feelings for him? Did Faolan have feelings for him? Honestly, he had never thought about it before. Throughout all these years.. Lucien had always felt the most comfortable with Faolan. It was easy for him to make acquaintances in the towns they went through, but he had never grown close enough with any of them to even consider the thought of staying. Being at Faolan's side had been the most natural to him, and he had never gained a close enough friend to compare their relationship to. Part of him had always felt this was normal.. but he was beginning to see that there had been more to it than he had originally thought.

Faolan's voice broke him out of his thoughts. In that moment he realized how much the man's body language had changed. He had that similar defeated look to him, from those many years ago, and it broke his heart to see it now just as much as it had back then. As Faolan turned away from him, he felt his heart sink, and he quickly grew afraid, his impaired mind immediately assuming the worst. His own ignorance had hurt the Irishman's feelings, caused this whole misunderstanding. He couldn't bear it. It pained him to see Faolan like this, and even more so to know that he was the cause of it. No matter what, he knew he could not let the conversation end here. He was afraid of what might happen if it did, and seeing him begin to walk away like this caused an uneasiness in his chest he simply could not bear.

"Faolan." His voice was quiet, breaking slightly, but he was quick to step forward, and reached out to grab Faolan's wrist in hopes to stop him. "Please don't go!" Desperation and fear was clear in his tone his arm shaking slightly as he held onto his wrist tighter than he had ever held anything in his entire life.

"I'm sorry! Please I—" For the first time in a very long time, the Frenchman fumbled with his words. His desperation to make sure Faolan didn't leave had made him react faster than his head had been able to keep up with. He wanted nothing more than to clear all of this up, to explain to Faolan that his intention had never been to mislead him, to tell him that everything he had ever said and done had been genuine and honest, and to apologize to him for the hurt his ignorance had caused, but he was afraid that one wrong word would end up destroying everything they had built together.

Faolan felt Lucien's hand on his wrist, felt him grasp so tightly that his arm was shaking. The vibrations traveled all the way up the Irishman's arm and into his chest, where his breath was short and his heart was hammering on and on. He would have pulled away, wrenched his wrist from Lucien's grasp and continued walking...no, running away, into the night. He would find himself a dark, cold place and sleep there until the sun rose and reminded him that he had a life to lead, perpetually and totally alone. That was how it was before he met Lucien, before he had agreed to take the young Frenchman along on his wanderer's life. He could go back there, to the way it was, and no in the world would care.

Except for one.

His body overpowered his thoughts, however irrational they were, and moved on its own. Instead of pulling away, he turned, fast enough to make him dizzy. He locked eyes with Lucien, and all of his reservations and insecurities melted away as he looked into those golden pools. There was comfort there, a comfort that Faolan would not, and could not give up. He stepped forward as Lucien let go of his wrist, and his eyes moved to the Frenchman's open lips. He couldn't hold back now, even if he wanted to.

He reached up and slid his hand over Lucien's shoulder to hook his palm behind his head, swift but not violent, into a kiss. It was the fourth kiss Faolan had ever experienced, but it was the only one that mattered, the only one that would ever matter. He pressed his lips against Lucien's his eyes closed and moved forward as his other arm snaked around Lucien's rib cage to his back. He held him there, and everything felt right for one single, perfect moment. His heart, which had been so darkened with conflict moments before, felt so beautifully full and light. He was the happiest he had ever been, and would ever be, and he never wanted it to stop.

Lucien was relieved that Faolan didn't pull away from him. It would have given him time to gather what he would have said next, but he wasn't given the chance. Before he knew it, the Irishman's arms were around him, and there was a warmth at his lips as Faolan pulled him into a kiss. There was a moment of shock, as it wasn't something he was expecting, but it didn't last long. Suddenly it felt like all of his worries and fears had been completely washed away. He relaxed, and it was when he leaned into the kiss, a hand reaching out to tightly grip Faolan's shirt, that he realized just how much this meant to him. How much.. he wanted this. Plenty of times women had sought his company in the past, and Lucien never held any interest in them. Even back then.. he had always found his mind trailing back to Faolan, thinking about how he was doing.. how he was feeling.. how he had to go back and meet up with him soon. This feeling that stirred within him was not simply friendship.. no it was more than that. He could see that now.

There was reluctance as Lucien forced himself to break their kiss, allowing them to catch their breath for a moment. He saw Faolan quickly glance at their surroundings, a glint of worry on his face. It was that and the feeling of the cold night air against the heat that their contact had created that made Lucien more aware of their surroundings. He tugged on Faolan's shirt, and pulled him into the nearby alleyway, making sure they were out of sight from any people that might decide to pass by. He understood his worry of not wanting to be seen.

With that out of the way, there was no hesitation in his next course of action as he placed a hand on Faolan's cheek, golden eyes burning with a newfound desire before leaning in to kiss the Irishman again. Their last contact had been his first kiss.. and now this was his second, and there was no moment in him where he regretted any second of what was transpiring. He had never felt Faolan as relaxed as he could feel him now. Any time the Frenchman had hugged him.. he had always felt tense, but not this time. It was the most relaxed and at ease they had ever been with each other, and he could not deny that he was rather enjoying it. In this moment everything that had happened prior to this did not matter. The only thing on his mind right now was Faolan, and how much he didn't want to let go of him.

Faolan took in a lung full of fresh night air as Lucien broke the kiss. After a second of staring into the Frenchman's eyes and fighting the urge to pull him back in, the thought of being seen, and everything that would happen after, crept into his brain. His eyes darted around them to find the streets empty and the windows of houses and businesses dark. He would have spoken, if he had not felt Lucien pulling him away. He was confused at first, but kept his eyes on Lucien as he pulled Faolan into a nearby alleyway.

It was dark here, but Faolan could see perfectly. Lucien pressed him into the brick wall behind him, and kissed him again. Again, his body relaxed into a wave of ecstasy as he pulled Lucien close to him once more. Faolan had always resisted physical contact, not just with strangers but with Lucien as well, and now it became clear to him why he would do this. He was afraid of what would happen if their touch lasted too long, or felt too good to him. He had been afraid that he would do exactly what he had moments before in the street, let instinct and desire take over for his rational mind. Now, there was no fear or worry, no doubt that clouded his mind. He knew that this was exactly where he wanted to be and who he wanted to be with.

As desire overtook him, he wrapped his arms around Lucien's waist and squeezed him tighter until they were completely flush with one another. The kiss broke, but only for Lucien to change direction and begin again. As Faolan felt Lucien's mouth open and his tongue against his lips, he parted them to take it in and found Lucien's tongue with his own. Suddenly all of his clothes felt too tight, unnecessary. In the heat of this moment, he pushed Lucien into the wall opposite them, for once not worried about hurting the Frenchman. His mind was overtaken by arousal, as he let his fingers find the hem of Lucien's shirt and slip under it. His fingertips burned against Lucien's cool skin as he slid his hand up from Lucien's waistband to his rib-cage. He could feel his heart beating under his skin, and swore that the rhythm of it matched his own.

Lucien found himself consumed with these new feelings the longer he remained in contact with Faolan. His body and lips moved almost instinctively as Faolan pressed him against the opposing wall, reaching up to slide an arm around Faolan's broad shoulders to pull him closer to him, if that was possible. A light shudder went up his spine as he felt Faolan's warm hands make contact with his bare skin.

The Frenchman was overtaken by physical urges he had never felt or considered before, hyper-aware of just how tightly their bodies were pressing against each other. It was a pleasurable feeling, and a contact he didn't want to break as he found his left hand trailing down Faolan's chest, feeling the well-toned muscles through his shirt. Over the years he had always kept himself from staring at the Irishman too long when they were changing or bathing in the outdoors, not wanting to make Faolan uncomfortable, but he could not deny that he had always found Faolan to be an incredibly attractive man, he just hadn't realized there was more to that attraction than he had originally thought.

Now that he was able to touch him like this, he felt like all of his restraint was gone. Lucien's hand slid under his shirt and curled around his body, enjoying the feeling of the warmth he was providing him. Faolan's direct touch left trails of a burning fire across his skin, that only made him want more. The Frenchman's complexion was completely flushed, not only because of the alcohol but because of the feelings of arousal that were becoming harder for him to ignore. How much time had passed? He wasn't sure, but he didn't want this to end.

This was almost more than Faolan could bear. To be this close, to be touching Lucien in this way...it was as if this were all happening in a dream. He could feel Lucien's hand on his chest and wanted to tear his own shirt off so they could have more skin-to-skin contact. It was intoxicating, the power of the Frenchman's hands, his lips, his breath...more so even than the bottle of whiskey they had shared.

A low rumble started in his chest and slowly turned into a growl, a vocalization of his desire. Though his body was moving on its own, he knew this was what he wanted, more than anything in this moment. He pressed himself into Lucien's body, sandwiching him in between himself and the brick wall behind them. One of his hands came up and slapped onto the wall by Lucien's head for support, and the other slid down the Frenchman's body to his hip. Faolan's thumb hooked into the waistband of his trousers, and he subconsciously made to lift the Frenchman off of his feet...

And that was when he heard laughter echoing down the street they had just come from. The foreign sound penetrated his mind, which was nearly taken over by desire. He could hear footsteps, and men and women talking, and they were getting closer. Sharpness returned to his once-dulled senses, and he pulled away from Lucien to break the kiss. His body went slack and he released Lucien from his grasp. The Frenchman continued to lean in, but noticed that Faolan's attention was elsewhere as he opened his eyes. He opened his mouth as if to say something, but Faolan held a finger to his lips to indicate silence.

Long seconds passed them as they waited for something to happen, and eventually Faolan realized that the passersby were coming toward them. Although he knew he was disheveled, cheeks flushed hair a mess, shirt unbuttoned and twisted, he knew they had to leave. He pulled away from Lucien and straightened himself up, saying quietly, "Someone's coming, we have to go."

At this, he made to leave the alleyway, but paused before doing so as he realized he was till grasping Lucien's wrist. He let it linger there for a moment, his irrational mind desperately trying not to break the contact, before allowing his fingers to fall away. Once he felt that he was passably mussed, he walked out of the alleyway and turned toward their boarding house.

The group of people were only a few yards down the walk. It looked like several men and women walking arm in arm, whispering and laughing with each other. Faolan briefly glanced at them, but picked up the pace, hoping they did not see the two leaving the alley.

The intensity of their contact only increased. He could feel Faolan's desire just as much as his own. He surrendered himself completely to the Irishman, too entranced by the feeling of his hand trailing down his body to hear the sound of laughter from further down the street. Feeling Faolan pull away, he couldn't help but lean forward, as if seeking more contact, but then stopped when he realized he had done it for a reason. He was going to speak up and question it but.. then Faolan silenced him. It was only then that he became aware of the fact people were nearing them. He managed to snap himself out of his trance as Faolan said they had to go. Right.. they were still out in public. It had been easy for him to forget about that in the moment. He couldn't help but stare at the man's hand as it still grasped his wrist, and was almost disappointed when it was released. He hadn't really wanted to break contact.. but they couldn't really walk out like this either. He simply nodded, attempting to fix the state of his clothing as they walked out of the alleyway.

It didn't seem like they had been seen, but Lucien didn't speak up, only followed. A part of him was still in a daze in regards of what had just happened. Even though.. they weren't touching anymore, he could still feel the heat from the places Faolan's fingers had touched... and he couldn't forget the feeling. He didn't want to forget the feeling. He couldn't stop his golden eyes from trailing to look up at the Irishman, as Lucien was lagging a bit behind him, taking in his current still disheveled state. Even though he was trying to seem composed, his heart still felt like it was pounding out of his chest.

The throbbing in his head made itself known again throughout their walk, which was entirely silent. It was honestly it was a little unnerving, considering what had just happened. Lucien would have liked to address it but.. at the same time it wasn't really a conversation they should really have out on the street. It was clear the last thing Faolan wanted was to be seen, so he respected that, and remained silent.

Faolan made his way down the street with complete tunnel vision. He did not want anything to distract him from his goal. They had to get inside, where it was safe and they wouldn't seen. He was making a B-line for their boarding house, glad that it wasn't far from where they decided to stop. Once they were there they could...

Do what?

He had been so caught up in the moment, the kiss, that he hadn't thought about what would come after. He could still feel Lucien's lips against his own, still feel their bodies pressed together. His heart remained a jackhammer under his ribs, and his hands were shaking. If he heard Lucien's voice, felt his touch again, he wasn't sure he would be able to stop himself from continuing what they had begun. His mind was still slightly hazy with drink and his stomach turned with worry at the thought that they may be seen, caught.

He pushed everything away and focused on getting to their temporary home, into their room, where he could think more clearly.

A few more minutes of silent cantering passed and they arrived. Faolan used the key he had been given on the door and was sure to be silent as they made their way up the stairs to their room. Once inside, Faolan shut the door and locked it quickly. He turned to see Lucien looking at him. The two stood feet apart for a moment, just looking at each other...

Faolan fought the urge to step over and grab Lucien once more. He knew if they did that here...he didn't know where it would stop. They were both still at least slightly drunk, though a lot of the haze in his mind had been replaced by a slowly throbbing headache. He didn't want anything to happen that either of them would regret. Even now, Faolan didn't know if Lucien regretted it, or would in the morning.

After an awkward silence, Faolan broke eye contact and looked at the floor, "It's late..." he said quietly, then began to walk toward his bed on the far side of the room. "Better get to sleep, leaving tomorrow." he added, skirting Lucien so the two would not accidentally touch.

He sat on his bed, facing away from the Frenchman, and began to take off his boots.
