Hello all!

I was thinking of creating a RP where the characters are based off of each card in the Major Arcana of Tarot.
Still developing the plotline though. But if anyone has any thoughts or ideas I am all ears.
Before I got started on this I just wanted to make sure there was enough interest.

Should it be a school setting?
Supernatural beings coming together to defeat a common foe?
Cliques among the Arcana? Rival groups?
An arena-based competition of sorts?

@Sage Orion 0312 I don't really know about tarot cards but cliques and rival groups make sense to me. Maybe make the characters a mix of supernatural beings and humans with special abilities

This sounds like an interesting idea. I think it would be really easy to have the four suites represent distinct factions and they all have aspects that could be drawn upon to characterise them.

For example, Pentacles, sometimesd Coins is associated with Health, Wealth and Physical: They could be an order of Mercinaries but they are also associated with Earth and Home, so they could also be a Dwarven like civilisation of Hoarders with strongholds deep in the earth, their suit in more standard playing cards is Diamonds so... mining again and they are associated with the Female, so perhaps a Matriachal society?

Anyway, thats just a quick brainstorm but I think the tarot as a starting point could give people a really strong basis for building characters that have a place within a given faction.

I second @The Hobb's idea of having factions for each of the four suits. They could either be more like their own kingdoms or sectors of a single government. In the case of suits as individual kingdoms, the Major Arcana would likely be saints/heros who are not bound by the kingdoms. In the case of suits as parts of one government, the Major Arcana could also be royalty or special appointments as well as saint/hero.

In addition to the Major Arcanas being PCs, I believe the King, Queen, Knight, and Jack of the suits all have potentials of being interesting PCs as well. But, of course, it'll also depend on the setting.

Another option could be to at regular intervals to do a spread (again, various options) this could drive narrative by showing certain characters in opposition etc. Or that could be a massive distraction just interperiting the cards.

My preference for setting would be rival Houses within a city. I think school could easily loose the premise in the usual school-drama and Kingdoms, well I certainly know RPs of that scale are popular but I can't see how that scale do anything but minimize character interaction. A city is easy to justify daily interactions between characters but allow the factions to also have their own domains.
