Paleo Town is a place of new beginnings and fresh starts.

Located deep within the rural boonies of the Cretoria region, this small, rustic village owes much of its success to Professor Hammond's laboratory. It is here where many a starting tamer have visited following their sixteenth birthday to receive one of four starter dinosaurs: Aeros (Air), Dimetro (Fire), Toba (Water) or Tsintao (Earth). With one of these dinosaurs by their side, these tamers are allowed the right to battle the countless gyms across Pangea, and should they prove their skill as a tamer, register for one of many league tournaments hosted throughout the world.

Incidentally, after sixteen long and perhaps boring years of being a village denizen, it is now time for you to claim a dinosaur of your very own. To do so, however, you must take part in the Saurian Trials; an event held by Professor Hammond and his staff during the village's annual festival to ensure that a beginning tamer is truly ready to explore the world.

Although it'll certainly be an arduous task to accomplish, through the power of friendship you and your motely group of friends will surely ace this test and prove your worth to everyone—right?

To anyone reading this, New Beginnings: Paleo Town Heroes is a roleplay that I've been stewing on in my drafts for some time now and never got around to trying it out. As you can tell, it takes elements from various franchises but most notably and in particular Pokemon and Fossil Fighters. In other words, if you're interested, you should expect a rather niche kind of roleplay when it comes to New Beginnings.

Though I will be taking the role of one of the group members, I will be acting more as a dungeon master in most contexts, guiding the group throughout their journeys. This is also why I will be limiting the amount of lore available to the players, as I want people to be able to fall into the role of "being a rural nobody from nowhereville". Today marks the first time your character will have truly left the village, which means that they'll have little knowledge of the world and how it works save for the occasional hearsay from travelers passing through Paleo Town.

If you are willing to give the idea a try, I do wish to ask a few things from you. Firstly, please—and I mean please—stick around for the long haul. This is supposed to be a small group childhood friends type of deal, and it'd be awkward if one of them wound up dropping out early on. Secondly, please keep your posts to a couple paragraphs per a weekly reply as this roleplay will require at the bare minimum a Casual writing ability. By absolutely no means should I be receiving short and/or one-liner responses as a post. If you're looking for that kind of writing, I suggest you check out Free instead.

Anyway, that aside, if I've got your interest, then let me know and any questions or comments you might have. If not, then I wish you a happy and long day full of roleplay in the future.

I loved Fossil Fighter and Dinosaur King when I was a Kid. Will there be any archeology stuff for getting new dinos like in Fossil Fighters or is that more info than you'd like to let on? Either way I'm throwing my hate into the ring.

Yes, getting new dinosaurs is largely archeology-based and is typically basic knowledge, especially when you live in a place where a Professor makes his business. You must go to one of many dig sites scattered across the world and find enough pieces of a skeleton (think parts like Head Fossil in FF, not so much me asking you to find every bone of a skeleton). From there on, you must take them to a Fossil Station (which might include other amenities like a rest stop or stores, kinda like a pokemon center all in one depending on the place) where you can revive the creature.

Wild dinosaurs throughout the world, as in those outside cities and towns, are typically considered impossible to tame. You can test your luck and battle them, but don't expect to be able to call one of your own. If you want a new dinosaur, you'd have to go through the dig site method.
