The man dodges for cover, expecting another barrage of incoming impromptu projectiles from the street. But then, a burly and obviously upset voice could be heard yelling from the street. "Champs? More like CHUMPS! You couldn't even stop one robbery! Thanks for nothing you good for nothing wanabes!"

"We really need to get better reviews before the people of Hero City decide to lynch me..." The man said as he picked himself up from the floor of his apartment while dusting himself off, before grabbing a dustpan and broom to help clean the broken glass and splintered wood off his admittedly crusty floor. He could only hope that the next batch of heroes would last longer and bring in more positive responses from the people.

Some context for those unfamiliar with the Mystery Men. Mystery Men is a 1999 action/comedy movie that parodies super hero films where in the main focus isn't with the super powered hero or heroine that saves the day without any issue, but to the amateur crime fighters with not so useful super powers that really shouldn't be super heroes saving the day and being the big damned heroes.

I'd go on but it is a good movie and I recommend you give it a watch if you can for more context or inspiration.

Hey, its a me Searat, a Longtime player and lurker giving running a RP a shot since a lot of the RPs I've been in have died or been frozen indefinitely. It's my first foray into this so don't expect much but I hope that I can deliver something of a simulacrum of a good RP while this thing lives.

This RP follows site rules and the general 'don't be a jerk to one another' rules.

Ooh, me likey. A semi-comedic hero RP. Consider me sold 110%.

I would be game for this too. I loved this movie. 🤔 Would definitely be a new kinda concept for a character for me too.

Do you have expectations and limitations on powers and such? Also, Defendor would be a cool movie reference example for the type of heros similar to Mystery Men.

Somewhat of a sequel? This RP technically happens at the same time as the movie (Roughly after the death of Captain Amazing in the movie) but set in the less flattering sister city of Champion City, Hero City.

My idea is kind of a mix of Constantine, Venom, and Ben from umbrella academy, with a big Lovecraft vibe. Constantine is personality and knowledge of mythos lore, but possessed by a monster that, while it helps him fight bad guys, he has to keep pacified or else it will slaughter people. (Venom vibes on the inner beast thing). Depending on you limitations, it could be possible that the thing repairs him "save the host" or it can be set free if he dies, so wouldn't necessarily heal him. Was going to have him play the fiddle to pacify the beast when it gets too out of control. But the thing wants to eat, so the man decides if he goes out and fights bad guys, he can feed the bad guys to the thing to make it happy.

I know this is your first time running, so I can totally make a new idea if this is all too much... my imagination ran away with me today. Lol.

A little bit complicated for a first timer like me but if you're set on using this, I'll still accept it.

Not dead set. I prefer to have an enjoyable game for the one running the game too.

Hey there, it's Shadow here and I'm the aforementioned third player that is interested. :) Was thinking something along the lines of a female, exotic dancer that has ribbons and sashes that she can use to bind and hold things/people and also can be sent out to lash like a whip. Cool. I am a deep veteran of roleplay. Have been role-playing longer than a lotnof these gamers have been alive (yeah I'm old) been away from RPG for too long. This is my first introduction back, so yeah, I'm all in. And willing to pitch in ideas and help if you need it.
