James looked up as firefighters got inside. He pulled the kid towards them before going back for Jila. With the help of fire fighters, he was able to get Jila onto a stretcher. Then, paramedics took him to an ambulence. He hadn't noticed but his back, arms, and legs were covered in minor burns.

Jila remained blacked out, probably her body trying to keep her from feeling pain. Her visions had stopped, and all she knew was blackness. Pure, complete, utter, smothering, blackness.

She had followed them out and turned human, some burns on her legs and arms and a big burn on her ankle from when the metal had hit her, she was coughing a lot, probably inhaled a lot of smoke, the firefighters finally put the fire out and announced that everyone else that was onboard was dead, paramedics helped Lily onto the ambulance and took them all to the hospital, the dog going with Jila, James, herself and the kid.

James was silent for the whole ride to the hospital. He'd been given some painkillers, but hadn't taken them. He sat there silently, fiddling with his hands. This wasn't how he'd seen his night going, by far. He was in a different ambulance than Jila, but the same as Lily and the kid. The dog had been taken by animal control to be kept safe for a bit- James had told the animal control officers that the dog, if unclaimed, could live with him. He'd also told police that if the kid was an orphan now, that he'd take the child in. He wasn't about to leave a child alone in the world, so he figured living with a rather wealthy realtor wouldn't be the worst thing in the kid's life.

Lily was sitting near a oxygen tank, a mask over her face to help her breath since she was inhaled a large amount of smoke, she coughed every few minutes, a paramedic walked over to check on her, the nurse adjusted the mask then went to go check on James. Hello sir, how are you doing? Would you like some pain meds now? The nurse asked in a cherry voice.

James looked up at the nurse. He glared at her. "I'm fine," He snapped, his words coming out harsher than intended. No way am I taking your stupid medication. I am so not going back to that life. I just got my shit together, He thought, still glaring at the nurse.

The nurse looked a bit startled but left, Lily went into another coughing fit, taking gulps of the masks oxygen, she only had a few burns and bruises and cuts, nothing major, the only real problem was how much smoke she had swallowed, which was a lot.

James was a little worse off than Lily. He had burns running down almost the full lengths of both arms and legs. But he hardly acknowledged it. He just sat there in mostly silence. He'd inhaled less smoke since he'd stayed low and covered his face with his now semi-charred shirt, but he was still in decently bad shape.

The paramedic came back a moment later to try to put some Drugs into a IV for Lily, Lily refused but the paramedic did not listen and still tried to put the IV in her, she wasn't exactly in the shape to fight back. "I said I do- *cough cough cough* Don't want the IV! *cough cough cough* You cannot force me to *cough cough* take it!!" She yells at the paramedic, before going into another large coughing fit, the yelling not doing her smoke filled lungs any good.

James stood and pushed the paramedic away from Lily, shaky on his feet in the moving vehicle. "If she doesn't want it, she doesn't want it. Back off before I make you," He growled. "And believe me. I can damn well make you." He added, the threat clear in his voice. From what he knew Lily had seen of his personality, he could appear to be very different from his previous protective behavior. This side of him was... aggressive... most likely due to his more vulnerable state.

Her ears go down a bit and she coughed, the paramedic glaring at the two before leaving, she turned to Twisted. "Thank you." She said, her personality was the same as always, kind and gently but if provoked she could be snappy, she coughs into her hand and her tail flicked, her tail, ears, and hair had turned a little ashey because of all the smoke and ashes, it honestly fit her lavender eyes better.

James nodded to her before sitting back down and glaring at the paramedic some more. Considering the paramedic couldn't exactly "leave" very far, he had settled with glaring at the paramedic purely to be impolite. It wasn't like him, but he went with it. Stupid paramedics. They should be more respe- His thoughts were cut off by a sudden bought of his own coughing.

She looked a bit worried, the ambulances finally coming to a stop as they entered the hospital grounds, many people entered and took the stretchers and them away immediately, she was kind of scared of being alone, her ears down and tail curled, she coughed hard.

James ended up being put with Lily, but he couldn't tell if Jila was there too or not. He didn't say a word, shaken after being threatened by security. I was only being protective. They should understand that. Where's the kid? They better find his parents or let me take him in.

She was put to sleep by the doctors, the nurses finally able to put the IVs into her, they didn't give her a oxygen mask, claiming that she 'needed to let it out' by herself, the nurses left the room after checking on James.

Jila was taken to the ICU, and still hadn't woken up. The doctors told to watch over her whispered in hushed voices. The current consensus was that jila most likely wouldn't wake for a very long time, remaining in a comatose state until her body could catch up to the injuries she'd sustained.

One Week Later


James lay in his hospital bed, motionless. He was asleep, to the relief of most of the nurses. Most of the man's burns had healed quickly, but there were a few burns on his arms that just refused to heal. He would most likely need some form of surgery to fix them, or live with them forever.
