Not sure if this is the right place, but some things I was wondering.

1: Do I need an image for my characters? I'm struggling to find an image that even looks like me. I know I should branch out and not just play myself, so don't worry about that, I was just trying myself as a sort of test character, and I just completely failed at finding a character that looks like me. I'm not exactly stereotypical though. Without my beard and mustache, I look like a woman, because I am short, and have a very feminine face, plus long hair that I almost always put in a ponytail. But I DO have the beard and mustache, which makes it harder to search for.

2: What if instead of finding interest for a roleplay, I try to find interest for a specific character instead? Would that be allowed? For example, I have a character for a potential Digimon setting, but they have a bit of a "main character" feel to them. I don't actually necessarily want them to be the main character, but I can understand the character might be a turn off for some, so rather than waste people's time constantly trying to get the character approved for a game, I try to just advertise the character in general, and see if anyone feels like they'd fit in their setting.

2 (continued): I know what you might be thinking "Why not just make your own roleplay?" and the answer is simply, I do not have even an inkling of an idea for a main plot in the Digimon setting. I barely have the general plot of my character down.

I'm sorry if this is the wrong place for this. I wasn't sure where to post this. Thank you for any help you can give me.

#1: You don't need an image for your character. That said, if you simply must play a character that looks like you, you could always take a picture of yourself and run some artistic effects over it in a paint program or (heaven forbid) use AI to generate something. More roleplays use art then don't, but I've yet to see someone get rejected for not having artwork of their character.

#2: This is basically not going to work for group roleplays, as the worlds are often far too detailed to just accept a character that was made in a vacuum. The only exception to that would be if you made your character for a specific fandom or board game that gets played on the guild a lot. But even in those situations, you'd fit in a lot better if you knew the RP specific lore. 1x1 RPs tend to be more purpose built for both players, with the caveat being you need to actually find someone who wants to play with your character.

I have seen people advertise their characters in the past, but as a GM myself, I would never recruit a player this way.

If you're determined to do that though, I think you'd have better luck putting your character in a 1x1 interest check than joining a group game.

Thank you for answering. I've always been bad at depicting my characters through artwork, but back when I used to roleplay in the past, I had an actual computer (er laptop) to edit images in the Paint app thingy if I found something close enough but wrong colors.

Now though, I just have my phone, and I don't have the money to test random editing apps that cost money, and unfortunately, the free stuff is much harder to work with than even that basic computer Paint app was, and I'm already bad enough at making images.

So I was just worried I wouldn't get anywhere here, but you've reassured me that I can just describe my character and probably get accepted. Thank you again.

As for the character interest, I guess I could try 1x1. I used to mostly do that back in the day, since it gave me more control, but nowadays, I tend to enjoy group projects more.

Maybe I should just accept that it is going to be awhile before they get accepted and actually try applying to roleplays with my character.

Thank you again for answering my questions.

I have a new question. How exactly do you get Co-Gm's? There is probably a very obvious answer, but I've never rp'd on a site that is solely dedicated to roleplay, so I've never even seen the concept of Co-Gm's. Do you just say you're looking for one in the interest thread, or should you find one on the discord, or is there something else that should be done?

@ReksewTrebla I don't think there's a set way in which people acquire Co-GMs. It's simply a way of giving a few trusted players some light GM privileges like editing the zeroth post. My guess is longstanding friends are prime candidates for a Co-GM position if such a thing is desired.

I messaged a couple of players who were regular posters in my group RP and asked them if they were interested in becoming co-GMs. Of course, sometimes a group of players might not have anyone who is fit for the task, but I happened to have very reliable and nice people in my group who did a good job assisting, either with side plots and responding while I was gone, or even just running things.

In general, it's a good idea to ask for a co-GM in case the RP is of large enough scale, players have wildly different time zones, or if someone would be interested. As for where to ask, the interest check or the OOC discussion section for an RP are fine, or a separately established ommunication channel like Discord.
