"And how exactly would I do that Wyn?" Roxy challenged. She couldn't track people she couldn't see. Her job had been to gather information by spying. Which generally meant sitting in some tiny space where no one could see her listening and watching.

"Well, you would be wrong college boy. My training is in fighting and spying not technically." Roxy informed him. Erasing it would only make people suspicious. They'd just have even to hope whatever was on the computer wasn't enough for them to build the device.

"Let's go." She growled when she estimated there time was up. She got up and headed towards the door. They needed to get moving.

He scoffed dramatically at her sudden display of defensiveness, but this time, he had a good reason to assume what he had just stated. "Well, excuse me for thinking that from the way you knew they were approaching the bunker yesterday. Maybe you've already forgotten how you practically dragged me out... of..."

He trailed off when she suddenly stood up and made a beeline for the exit, before adding an indignant mutter under his breath. "I guess someone hasn't slept enough..."

He gave a subtle sigh in slight frustration as he pocketed the chip, and getting up himself, he nodded to the clerk with a word of thanks before leaving right after his disgruntled companion. As they both got back into their vehicle, Wyn finally thought it safe to let loose the burning question at the back of his mind ever since they had seen what was on the disk.

"Alright sunshine, what the heck was that symbol, and exactly how much trouble are we in right now?!"

Roxy ignored Wyn as she headed out to the van. They needed to change cars. But she wanted something that wouldn't be missed. She scanned the parking lot. She didn't see anything that would work. They needed an abandoned car. She hoped into the driver's seat.

"It's called God's Eye." She explained as she started the vehicle. She needed a Walmart or mall. They would have what she needed. They might get luckily on a side road but she preferred not to take chances. "It has the ability to control every camera. Well at least the automated ones. It basically gave whoever has it the ability to find anything and anyone in the world." It was a scary thing to think about. No one should have that kind of power. It was dangerous.

Wyn rolled the chip between his fingers, his fascinated gaze never leaving the object as he listened to Roxy's explanation. The surrealness of this new knowledge far exceeded that of any previous encounter within the last couple of days. To find out that he had unknowingly been carrying such a powerful item around with him for years sent a chill down his spine. How was it possible that such a thing even existed? What else had his biological father kept from him? And what was he hoping he would do with such power by leaving it with him? He kept a rare, eerie silence for a long while as he processed this new information.

"I- I see..." he eventually stuttered out. "I mean, if you're serious, then this is like huge huge. I'd say it's pretty sweet that we have it with us, though, not so much that your dad's after us because of it. If it's this dangerous, we should destroy it, but... you still need something from your dad, don't you sunshine?"

"It's HUGE. It's dangerous. I thought about destroying it but even if we did it in front of my father he wouldn't believe it." Roxy answered honestly. She knew her father. He wouldn't accept anything but the God's Eye. Nothing good could come from him having it though. It would give him too much power but she hadn't found an alternative. "Even if I wasn't trying to buy my freedom that wouldn't be an option." She wasn't sure that giving her father would accomplish her goal. She wished there was another solution but there wasn't one.

At her response, Wyn let out a long, audible sigh that conveyed deep thought accompanied by a hint of conviction. "Then we won't destroy it... and neither will we trade it in. The only other option we have is to use it against him. How? We're going to need a little more time to figure that one out."

Destroying the chip would have been the right, but in their situation, also stupidest thing to do. It would seal his fate as the target of this illegal organization's vengeance. In addition, he really wanted to help Roxy out of her current fix. His unlikely companion had been born into a life she had never asked for, and so had he, if he were to put it that way. Ideally, getting to access the chip's full potential would enable them to hold it like a command emblem over her father's personnel and strip him of his power, but he knew that they were far from being able to even test that theory out.

"I have no idea how to use the damn thing. I'm not sure how knowing where he is would help." Roxy was sure Wynn could figure out how to use it. At least the basics. She just wasn't sure how they could use that. Her father hadn't gotten his hands dirty in years. It wasn't like watching him would give them something the cops could use. "I guess the first step will be seeing if we can even use the damn thing. We need a place where we can stay for a few days. Someplace with internet." The problem was she didn't know where would be safe. They would need at least a couple days. They had a slight lead but they hadn't lost her father's men yet.

The frustration in her words induced a sinking feeling within him as he pondered over their possible options. She was right in the sense that practically neither of them knew what they were doing. The end of this journey was uncertain, but they would only have the opportunity to deal with whatever awaited them then if they played their cards right throughout. It would be best to cross that bridge when they came to it, and take things one step at a time. Someplace to stay with an internet connection... the first person that popped into his mind was his roommate back at Bayshore University who inherited a lodge near the national park at the border they had crossed to get to the city they were currently in. They had gone through a whole lot of trouble not to involve anyone else in this mess, but with the lack of resources on Roxy's end, it would seem that they were out of alternatives.

"I... have a contact," he offered, speaking up after a noticeable pause. "I know it isn't ideal to reach out to other people for help, but it might be the best option for us to have the time and place we need to figure this out. We'd have to take a detour, a safe route back to the border for this, but I'm going to have to make a call for this. I'd rather not have to use the mobile phone with have in case it can be tracked, so let's make a quick stop at the next public payphone."

Roxy shook her head. The last thing they wanted was to get someone else involved. "Do you really want someone else to have a target on their back?" He was involved because he had had a target on his back. She didn't want to draw her father's attention to anyone else. If they got hurt it would be her fault. She had enough on her shoulders without taking responsibility for another life. She tried to think of another solution. Unfortunately she didn't see any other choice. Neither of them had the skills to us God's Eye. She might be able to figure it out but it would take time and she wasn't sure they had time. "Can you get ahold of them?"

Her initial disagreement with his suggestion was apparent, with the shaking of her head followed by the rhetorical question threatening to yank a retort out of him right away. However, he pulled it back right as it was at the tip of his tongue as he recalled that he himself had just pointed out that this would have never been their first choice given they had others. He understood the turbulent conflict that must be stirring up within her, but considering all they had already gone through to get to this point, such a risk sounded like one worthwhile to take right now.

Her next question then reflected her change of heart, and he sighed in contentment as he leaned back in his seat. "I have his number memorized, so as I've mentioned, just stop us at the next public payphone and I'll get it sorted out. Look sunshine, I know why you're hesitant to ask for help, but you're worth it, alright? At least I think you are. You don't deserve all that's happened to you."

"I'm not sure payphones still exist," Roxy told him honestly. She hadn't seen one in a few years. She had heard they had been phased out. Still, Wyn was right, they needed to call the man. The question was how. It had to be some place that could be traced. Unfortunately, nowadays there aren't many places that fit that description anymore.

"The next best thing might be a motel room phone. We'll have to get one under an alias. One of those pay by the hours are probably be the only ones that dont require ID." Those places were disgusting. They tended to be frequented by people having affairs or hooking. It wasn't a placed that she wanted to be but she didn't see any option.

"A motel room, huh?" He echoed, leaning back in his seat with his eyes subtly shifting towards her as he contemplated her suggestion. "By the hour sounds good, an hour would be more than sufficient to make that call. I just hope my bro answers, that's all..."

He reached over for the mobile phone to quickly check the location of the nearest motel before switching it off and showing it back in the empty chip bag to minimize their risk of being tracked. "Well, I've located one of those in this city, just take the next left turn along this street and we should see it."

Sure, a young pair like them requesting for a room for an hour might look bad, but the worse it looked, the less suspicious they would appear of what they were really trying to do.

Roxy nodded. An hour should be enough to reach his friend and talk to him. She wasn't looking forward to spending an hour in one of those places but there wasn't any other choice. Most phones can be traced nowadays. Burner phones were harder but not impossible. Especially with her father's resources.

"Great," Roxy said sarcastically. She was glad that they didn't have to go far. At least they were still on the outskirts since most cities tried to keep those kinds of places on the outskirts. Hopefully, it wasn't one of the lower-end places. She looked for a motel that advertised hourly rates.

Eventually, she saw it. It looked like it was in decent shape. Which was reassuring. She parked in front of the building.

Like her, he also soon spotted the structure that marked their destination, the gaudy colors painted onto its facade dulled from the wearing of weather and soot from the road, and he muttered a remark under his breath as she pulled up to the building. "There it is..."

Following the plan, they exited the parked vehicle and entered the establishment through clouded revolving doors, finding themselves in a reception area that looked as if the bare minimum had been done to keep it presentable. He approached the front desk to request what they had discussed earlier - a single room for an hour. The receptionist tossed him a key through the opening in the glass partition that separated them, and gestured to the corresponding floor. The pair was regarded with a couple of jaded gazes as they made their way upstairs, gazes that had probably seen countless couples who looked just like them entering the motel.

Upon entering their assigned room, which seemed minimally-maintained yet sufficiently hygienic, he plonked himself onto the bed while reaching for the landline phone. "Alright... the moment of truth. If my guy doesn't answer, we have an hour to try. Meanwhile, you can relax a little, use the washroom, do what you need to freshen up."

Roxy felt sleazy just being near the motel. She had never understood affairs or hooking up. She had to trust someone before she would be willing to be vulnerable enough to consider having sex. She had learned to protect herself. Her father had broken her when he roofied her on her sixteenth birthday.

She regretted closing the door. She felt claustrophobic. Which was stupid since she had been in small spaces before. The difference was in difference was that she had never been in a small space with someone she found attractive. As wary Roxy was to admit to her attraction being closed in the motel room made it almost impossible not to admit it. At least to herself.

"Right this is such a relaxing place." She snapped before she began to pace the small room. There was no way she could relax. And she definitely wasnt going into the restroom. That room was even smaller.

Wyn quickly dialed his roommate's number from memory, leaning back into the fluffy pillows against the bed's headboard with a subtle, contented sigh and shutting his eyes as he listened to the phone ringing on the other end, preferring not to watch his companion's apprehensive pacing which only served to agitate him in turn. However, that peace was short lived when he heard his call being answered, the sound of Kirk's familiar voice causing him to bolt upright, his eyes snapping open.

"Kirk! Bro, you there? Hey listen, it's Wyn-" he began, before he was cut off by a torrent of worried yelling from his roommate demanding to know why he had vanished the night before last. He flinched again, this time more aggressively, at the shouting through the receiver of the phone, before stuttering to get a word in. "Dude! Dude... ju- just listen, alright? I can't reveal too much right now, but I can't go back to Bayshore, not yet... Yes... yes, I need somewhere to go, somewhere safe, and yeah... your empty lodge sounds perfect right now, I just need access... Alright thanks man, you're a lifesaver! I owe you big time, and I swear I'll explain everything when I can. Thank you!"

He hung up the phone with another sigh of relief, turning back to Roxy with a light, solemn grin. "Well sunshine, looks we have our safe house. I know where it is, so I'll drive us there right now if you'd like. Unless of course, you'd prefer to make the most of this hour."

Roxy listened to the conversation. She frowned at the word lodge. That didn't sound reassuring. Being out of the city was probably a good idea. She wasn't opposed to roughing it. She had done it many times over the years. Her concern was whether or not they would have electricity and access to the internet. She wasn't sure if they needed internet but they at least needed a computer or laptop.

Wyn's words pulled Roxy out of her thoughts. "In your dreams Wyn." The last thing she needed was more complications. Sex wasnt something she gave much thought. She had never been comfortable naked alone sheciuldnt imagine how she'd feel about being naked around a near stranger. She'd have to feel safe and comfortable to think about getting intimate. "It sounds like we need supplies for this safe house."

"In my dreams, huh?" He echoed her with a near-humorless chuckle before flipping off of the bed with a quiet grunt. "Interesting choice of words there sunshine, the last thirty-six hours or so definitely felt like a dream, and from the looks of it, this dream ain't going to be ending anytime soon."

He made his way over to the door in a few long strides and held it open with an exaggerated sweeping motion of his other arm, gesturing for her to precede him out of the room. "I've been to that lodge before, my guy invited me there on break during our first year as roommates. It has all the basic amenities we'll need, including a PC for whatever government-tier security hacking we're about to attempt."

After they arrived back down at the reception, he tossed the key back to the individual at the counter before they headed out to the vehicle with him getting into the driver's seat this time. "Of course, if you think we need supplies other than the ones a standard lodge provides, just let me know and I'll stop up at the next convenience store on the way."

Roxy rolled her eyes at his comment. It had been a long weird day. She didn't expect that to change any time soon. Not until she figured out what she had and how to use it. She wasn't convinced that information would change anything. Gaining her freedom might be impossible.

"A PC for government-tier hacking?" She repeated with a raised eyebrow. That wasn't something she expected and made her question her companion. She shouldn't trust Wyn. The fact that he hadn't hurt her or tried to escape shouldn't have convinced her that he wasn't a threat. He could be working for her father or want the device for his own reasons. "How convenient. Any idea what kind if food is stocked in this magical cabin."

"Well, a PC for sure," he began to clarify in response to her skeptical inquiry as he started up the vehicle. "But specifically for government-tier security hacking? I suppose we'll have to see, considering the limited options we have right now."

"As for food, that's a good question..." he trailed off casually as he gradually got the van back on the road. "My guy usually keeps it stocked with supplies that have months of shelf life - canned food, trail mix, granola bars... shouldn't be an issue unless you're planning to stay longer than a few days. We'll have a whole lot of peace and privacy, plus it's built on a little slope surrounded by trees, but we'll still have a pretty nice view of the lake."

He was aware of how his manner of speech was more reflective of a leisure trip to a nice vacation spot than a large-scale classified mission, but at this point, the exhaustion and constant surprises had left him too jaded to care about theatrics any longer.
