Day One: Helena

I didn’t like the song when it first came out. I thought the music video was cheesy. Then, this one friend who had been in my Spanish 2 class said he had a dream where the ballerina was me. For some reason, it gave me a soft spot even if I didn’t admit it until years later.

Day One: I don't remember the name of the first song I listened to and I can't find it by typing a description into the search bar.

Day Three: Ghost of You

It’s the opposite of Helena. If I hadn’t watched the music video when I first heard the song, I probably wouldn’t like it so much. To this day, it’s one of my favorite music videos. The graphics are still better quality than today’s million budgeted movies. Absolutely spectacular.

I have a hard respect for the military, having a lot of family in the military, and also, my existence wouldn’t have been possible if my grandpa’s Western army swagger hadn’t romanced my elusively rebellious obachan. And, somehow because of all this information pushed into one perspective, it’s one of my favorite pop cultures songs to this day.
