It is a black leather jumpsuit with wings embroidered along the back and sleeves. Her helmet is structured like her father's, even with built in antennae, but instead of devil's horns, she has a bladed silver halo she can remove and throw like a frisbee. Her suit is lined with kevlar, is fireproof and shock resistant. billy club - Her club is an exact replica of her father's multi-purpose weapon. It has a retractable microphone, miniature tape recorder, can fire small projectiles, and has retractable blades. If she splits the club in two, a wire cable connects the halves which she can use as a grappling hook or a weapon. yggdrasil batons - Gifted to her father by Heimdall as a token of respect and gratitude, these batons are now in Myla's possession with her father's disappearance. The batons possess a few magical properties beyond their lightweight and durability. They can be recalled, similar to mjolnir, and they can create a small force shield if she crosses them in front of her. Any other potential properties are unknown to her. P E R S P E C T I V E Myla is a vigilante by night, and similarly to her father, her identity manifested from the people of Hell's Kitchen. She does not care for the pomp and circumstance of it all, nor want the fame and notoriety from it. In her eyes, her abilities are a gift and should be used for something better, not something she's scared of or lets control her life. But unlike her father, she isn't Hell's Angel, it is a mask she dawns to protect those she cares about while helping those who need it. Her life as Hell's Angel is important but not her focus. She doesn't want it to control her or for it to somehow come back to ruin the life she has built for herself. __________________________________________________________________________________ P E R S O N A L I T Y brave .... | .... independent .... | .... loyal .... | .... guarded .... | .... stubborn H I S T O R Y Those who know Matt Murdock know that he has had his fair share of girlfriends. He was never one known to have a stable relationship and a lot of that had to do with his Daredevil home life balance. But yet, somehow, he managed to not only find Milla Donovan, but get married. Despite it all, she stuck beside Matt through thick and thin, and was quite possibly one of the bravest people he knew. That was until she was dosed with Mr. Fear's toxin. No matter how brave she was, she couldn't fight it. Unfortunately the toxin was known to make those infected with it go insane. Matt tried everything he could to get Milla back to her old self, therapy, medication… searching for a cure. But nothing showed any results. And with no other choice, she had to be sent to an insane asylum. Unknown to Matt, Milla was in the early stages of pregnancy. So, 9 months later the asylum gave him a daughter to raise amongst his chaotic life and no mother. He thought about giving her up for adoption, or letting her uncle Foggy raise her. But once she was in his arms and he felt the beat of her heart, he couldn't let her go. He gave her a name that was similar to her mother's, hoping she got only her mother’s good traits and not the madness she was riddled with. Most of Myla's childhood was spent with her Uncle Foggy because her dad was often so busy between his work by day and heroism by night. But as she got older she started showing signs of being similarly skilled as her father. And it was around then that it seemed more and more heroes were dying or disappearing. He wanted an ordinary life for Myla, but they lived in a world that was so dependent on heroes that she would be more at risk pretending like she was normal than she would be if he trained her to be better than him. Myla soaked up every moment she had with her dad, learning everything he had to teach her. She quickly became his shadow, seeking to be a lawyer like him and her Uncle Foggy, but also protect people with her gifts as well. It took sometime before her father was comfortable enough to let her work alone. And once she did it wasn't long before optimism began to rise in Hell's Kitchen with the arrival of a new hero. F O R M While in his human form, James has no abilities and, for all intents and purposes, is mortal. It is only in his Ghost Rider form that he possesses any powers. While in this spirit of vengeance form, his face fades away only leaving a skull set ablaze. Like this, he appears as a hell spawn itself, often covered in hellfire with a voice so terrifying it can frighten the bravest of men. Not too long after he came along, they also had his sister Emma. Growing up, he followed in his father's shoes, growing up in a circus. But it wasn't just any circus, but the one his family owned. It made everyday like something out of a story, especially when other kids didn't get to grow up like he did. As a boy, James wanted nothing more than to be just like his father. He was riding dirt bikes and whatever else his parents would allow when he was still in single digits. And as he got older, he too, stepped into the ring of being a stunt rider. Of course, this nearly gave his mother a heart attack but she saw what joy it brought him to share in something with his father that she allowed it… most of the time. Shortly after James became an adult, his father grew ill. And it was only then that Johnny told him about his past and the Ghost Rider. The toll the spirit took on him was sending him to an early grave and he wanted his son to be able to take care of the family once he was gone. His father didn't share anything else, not wanting to worry him. That night, Mephisto came to James. He spoke of how Johnny was corrupted. That there wasn't much left of his soul and he was set to be damned in the afterlife. And that's when he made the deal… The deal for James to be host to the spirit and become the Ghost Rider. If he did that, Mephisto would save his father's soul and promise him peace after death. Without a moment's hesitation he accepted the proposal which changed his life forever. The next morning, Johnny awoke no longer sick and rejuvenated. But when he saw James, he knew. He was angry and disappointed that James would accept a deal with the devil, forsaking his soul, and repeating his own mistakes. In a fit of rage, his father kicked him out and said he wanted nothing to do with him. Since then, he's lived on his own, keeping his promise to protect his father. He never was much in the eyes of his father. Of course, women were always throwing themselves at the feet of the all powerful Magneto, and who was he to argue? Though the man wasn't pleased when a single indiscretion later in his life resulted in a child. A doorstep baby. Not something the man wanted, but Tobias came from his loins. He couldn't very well send him to an orphanage or whatever else. He wasn't wanted, and Erik didn't have to say it for Tobias to know. It wasn't like he was the man's first child. He knew of another pair of mutant children somewhere that were his siblings. But, no matter how much Tobias asked to meet them, Erik wouldn't allow it. He had enough on his plate for two children, let alone three. At least the Maximoffs had a mother to take care of them, and he didn't have to be bothered by them, but not this boy. More often than not, Erik was off on Brotherhood business, leaving him in the care of whichever mutant was free at the time. His favorite was Mystique. Maybe it was the harbored love she still felt for his father, but she actually took care of him. She was the closest thing to a mother figure he had in his life. She loved him in a way Erik never could and she tried to justify why his father was the way he was, but he didn't care. As he grew older, Tobias seemed to be a late bloomer. No evidence of powers or anything else of worth. Erik and some of the other Brotherhood mutants looked at him as a burden that wouldn't allot to anything. He'd turn out like the humans they despised, worthless and in the way. On many occasions Erik threatened to send Tobias off to an orphanage because "even Charles Xavier wouldn't take someone as useless as him." Mystique talked him out of it, time and time again, but how much longer would that last? Tobias always had a knack for being at the wrong place at the wrong time. When he was fifteen, he stumbled upon an altercation between his father and Mystique. Something deep down in him boiled, exploding out at his father when he tried to strike at her. All the pent up power within him unleashed on his father, an explosion of magnetic waves. The surprising thing… His father wasn't mad but ecstatic. From that moment Tobias was no longer useless but a prodigy… an heir. Erik spent all his free time from that moment training and pushing Tobias past his breaking point and back again. He looked at his son as the ultimate weapon, a legacy to continue on in his place when the time came. So, when Tobias got the recruitment letter to the academy, Erik saw it as the perfect opportunity to put a plant in the academy… Tobias saw it as a chance to escape. Mystique wasn't happy about his departure but knew it was for the best. Unlike his father, over the several years he was at the school, she made visits and calls regularly, while his father only checked in wanting more information about the Descendants and their next move. When the academy shut down, it was expected that Tobias would return to the brotherhood. But he wasn’t seeking to give up his freedom, so rather than go back to his father, he went into hiding. He never stayed in one place for long and only checked in with Mystique before leaving to go somewhere new. She understood and didn’t question it, but he could tell by the tone of her voice that Magneto was taking his frustrations out on her. There was more than one time he nearly went back, if only to get her out but she always begged him not to come. With the news of the disappearing heroes, Tobias hoped and prayed that one day he’d hear his father had gone missing too. But with the absence of other heroes to stop him, the Brotherhood of Mutants only seemed to grow. She has no interest in teaching, being a public face for the mutants, being on the Quiet Council or even running the Hellfire Gala. Having parents who are very much in the public’s eye has made it hard for her to avoid some semblance of fame, and while she cannot avoid it, she doesn’t want that to rule her life either. Her joy comes from helping those in need.. There was enough there, be it love or pure entertainment for a pregnancy to come to light around the time their marriage was absolved. A split couple wasn’t the ideal circumstance to raise a child under, but both parties were willing to do their part. They had more than their fair share of money to be able to ferry the girl back and forth across the world so she never grew up absent either of them in her life. But as she grew, outside forces made things more complicated. With her father’s relationship with Pepper Potts, it wasn’t always the easiest for Imogen to be around. Pepper never treated her poorly, but once Tony Jr. showed up, that was her child and Imogen? Well… She was just a step daughter afterall. When it was just her, she was daddy’s little helper. But even five years older, her brother’s intellect out paced hers within a couple years and he became the new helper. Emma favored Imogen, her actual daughter over the Cuckoos, so, as typical insufferable girls did, they sought to make her life on Krakoa as miserable as possible. Most of Imogen’s childhood was staying with one parent until those around her were unbearable enough for her to go visit the other one. Both Emma and Tony did their best to make things more tolerable, but in the end they were always too busy to give her their undivided attention. When Imogen was old enough to get the opportunity to go to her mother’s college preparatory school, the Massachusetts Academy, she jumped at the chance. Without being under the thumb of a stressful homelife, Imogen was left to truly flourish as a star pupil at the academy. And with that growing success she eventually joined the Hellions, Massachusetts Academy’s own team of teenaged mutants. Then, once she graduated, her father wanted her to join his own school, further honing her skills and abilities. Unfortunately for her though, she was at Descendant Academy for little more than a year before it was shut down. Like her parents, Imogen willingly aided the I.H.A. and accepted whatever roles were assigned to her. They found a highly skilled telepath to be of great use and often sent her out on various missions, frequently involving interrogation. But once the heroes started going missing, the Quiet Council recalled any and all willing mutants to return to Krakoa. Their isolation helped keep them all protected and the only mutants that went missing were the ones who made the mistake of leaving the island. Imogen followed that ruling… until she got the call from her brother that their father had gone missing. Him and June Wayne intended on enlisting whatever heroes they could at the old Descendant Academy to try and find the missing heroes, and she knew she had to help. The gloves also contain retractable claws that are razor sharp and highly durable, allowing her to cut through most substances and scale walls. equilibrium earrings - Inherited from her mother, Ronnie has a set of earrings that interact with the balance centers of her brain, increasing her natural equilibrium and let her accomplish feats beyond the capabilities of the finest human athletes. electromagnetic contact lenses - Another gift from her mother, Ronnie has a pair of contacts that allow her to see various ranges of the electromagnetic spectrum, like infrared and ultraviolet light. grappling hook - Ronnie has miniature grappling hook devices hidden in the fur of her gloves. Aside from using it to swing around New York, she can also use the wire as a tightrope, to scale walls, or as a weapon in combat. P E R S P E C T I V E As a former, partially reformed burglar Ronnie has mixed feelings about the whole hero thing. She watched Theo doing his selfless white knight thing for a long time and his kindness never quite rubbed off on her. Sometimes she’ll do the right thing if it benefits her but altruism is not something in her vocabulary. Joining this group of knock off Avengers serves her goals for the time being but there’s no guarantee she won’t dip the second things go south either. While she wants to find her mom, she has no desire to be molded into the hero type. She was always safe but hey, shit happens. There was a time where she contemplated terminating it but inevitably couldn’t bring herself to attend the appointment when the time came. As a woman often on the run and regularly relying on no one but herself, the thought of someone who would always remain by her side was a comfort she didn’t know she was missing. Ronnie grew up having no knowledge of her father, probably because Felicia didn’t know herself. But her life never felt absent without a father figure. She was her mom’s shadow and learned her skills from a young age. It started with simple pitpocketing on the subways when she was no older than five to petty theft by the age of ten. Into her teenage years her skill had grown to match that of her mother. They no longer burgled together. Ronnie was trusted and sent out on her own missions. That was when she met Redback. At first their game was a little more cat and mouse, with her as the mouse. For a handful of years they kept running into each other, him foiling half of her robberies and nearly getting her arrested a couple times as well. She can’t quite recall when things changed, somewhere in her early twenties. But cat and mouse turned into reluctant allies and eventually passionate lovers. They trusted each other with their secret identities and families. But when things started getting serious… truly serious, Ronnie panicked. She pulled away and disappeared without a word. The hammer can also call forth the raiment of the God of Thunder, and further enhances Magni's power as an Asgardian. It has powers and enchantments that Magni has not quite grasped yet. P E R S P E C T I V E Magni is a warrior trying to live up to the myth and legend of his father. Much like his father, Magni craves the thrill of combat far more than any of his other family members. Fair, honorable combat is how Magni seeks to prove his rightful place as a Prince of Asgard as only half-Asgardian. He cares deeply for his mother and brother, and is weary of the cousin he knows exists... but would easily swoop in to defend any of them at great personal cost. Magni's love for fighting has lead to a strange development in his personal code: Magni does not often kill his foes. While for many this would be a sign of moral character, his real reason for this is simply in the hopes that his defeated foes will train and become a more worthy opponent in the future. When away from combat, Magni is indulgent in his desires and honest about his wants. While he does come across as a bit haughty with the vocabulary and cadence of a regional Shakespearean actor, Magni does have a magnetic charm and unburdened enthusiasm that lights up a room. __________________________________________________________________________________ P E R S O N A L I T Y Valiant | Dense | Protective | Selfish | Transparent H I S T O R Y Magnus Foster, better known as Magni Thorson, is the son of Thor Odinson (Donald Blake) and Jane Foster. He is the older brother of Malcom Foster, aka Modi Thorson. It was clear from a very young age that Magnus was the spitting image of his father. The two boys were raised between Midgard and Asgard, splitting their time between their two realms of origin. Their summers in Asgard were spent training while living like the princes they were born to be, whilst their school years on Earth were dull and normal. Magnus preferred the realm of his father. It was a small relief to Magnus when the Descendants Academy was formed, as there was finally a place he could truly excel. He was not a particularly gifted student, but his parentage made him an ideal choice for the pilot program. He was able to develop with students like himself, who knew the burden of legacy and expectation. He learned well to work with a team, and to rely on his fellow heroes in order to get the job done. And then came the I.H.A. His team was disbanded, and his former friends were now being forced to serve as glorified employees. Magnus was never one for taking orders, so it seemed fitting that he decline to sign on with the agency. He left Mjolnir at the foot of the Descendants tower in a sign of protest over its dissolution. He has spent the time since travelling the realms as a drifter, regressing into his father's more reckless and foolish tendency of trying to find the toughest and most dangerous opponents he could so he could grow stronger. He has resurfaced occasionally, making a big scene while taking down a large threat before disappearing in a flash of rainbow-colored light. But recently... on a return to Asgard, he found the throne of his father (now the King of Asgard following Odin's death) was empty. His father, too, had gone missing. So, Magnus has returned to Midguard to look for answers. He started with his most likely lead: his cousin, the daughter of his trickster uncle. But when it was clear that Loki and Sif were listed among the missing, it was clear that these disappearances posed a far greater existential threat to Asgard than the prince expected. They would need the help of others to find answers, and Magni needed to be as strong as possible when danger came calling. HELEN is also a crucial component in the remote and automatic piloting of Iron Legion suits. While Jim never quite understood his father's self-destructive tendencies, it was clear they both shared a deep love for mechanics and a drive to innovate that surpassed all other needs. As Jim matured, he had all the tools and resources at his disposal to develop into the type of prodigy his own father was. He, of course, was also forced to go through rigorous training in all sorts of disciplines: unarmed combat, marksmanship, fencing, academics, arts... you name it. Jim quickly outpaced other students in his elite private schools, which lead to him being moved into private tutoring and self-study under his father's watchful eye. He earned a bachelors degree by the time he was 14 from Carnegie Mellon, due to Pepper desperately fighting off Tony's attempts to send their underage child to his academy of heroes before it was disbanded. Not that Jim had much of an intention to ever set foot in the suit himself. His aspirations, his dream, was that there would never be a need to get into the suit directly. He dreamed of a legion of Iron Men that he could control from the comfort of home. Jim gave up on academia after he finished his dual-masters in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon at the age of 17. He had already out-paced even the tenured faculty at that point, with the only real person he could learn from being his own father. At the age of 18, Jim was employed in Stark Enterprises formally within the Research and Development division... but this was just a formality. He was given his own workshop, a blank check to develop whatever he wanted, and college interns to boss around to get it done. With such an opportunity available, Jim set about to fulfill his dream. He started Project Iron Legion. It sounds far more intimidating and dangerous than it is. In reality, Iron Legion was Jim's project to create cheap and sustainable remote-operated Iron Man suits that could be deployed around the world to assist heroes and local authorities in dealing with serious threats. The Iron Legion was designated as the Mark 50 generation, with suits designed for all sorts of environments and situations. Some were designed to assist with underwater rescue operations, some were designed to help combat forest fires, and others were outfitted with nonlethal weaponry to assist other heroes apprehend villains. While Tony was reluctant to move forward with such a morally dubious project, Jim inherited his father's persistence. And so... Stark Enterprises has developed a limited quantity of Iron Legion suits all over the world in partnership with the I.H.A. for a trial run. Tony would have preferred that his son would have taken up a suit of his own. He inevitably got his wish. In the meantime... Jim was promoted to head of Research and Development while Tony has gotten more involved with the I.H.A. and coordinating the deployment of the Iron Legion project. With even less restrictions, Jim has been working on another side project of his own: a more advanced prototype of the Iron Legion. Codenamed "Project Vanguard," the new suit would be stored in a large capsule and could be deployed in a number of configurations depending on the situation. Of course... this kind of suit would be bulkier, more expensive, and require much more energy to power... in addition to needing a more advanced onboard AI to optimize the systems. So, Jim has spent the last 2 years finishing his own AI personal assistant (H.E.L.E.N.) and the Iron Vanguard prototype... along with an old upgrade to his father's nanosuit (Codename: Iron Jack) to serve as an "emergency" suit. The last of these seemed necessary as increasing reports of missing I.H.A. heroes have accumulated. Among the missing, now, is Tony Stark. The business has remained stable, for now. Especially seeing as the public perception has always been that Tony was more of a figurehead and innovator at Stark Enterprises rather than a traditional CEO. But internally, the Stark family is in disarray. Pepper has been focusing on keeping the business afloat, and other C-Suite executives have been working overtime with the I.H.A. in an effort to expand the Iron Legion project to cover the deficit in heroes. All the while, Jim has been locked in his workshop sweeping through treasure troves of data to try and desperately find some kind of answer on where his father and the other heroes have gone. It also has an infrared viewer and auditory sensors. The cowl is outfitted with security systems (irritating gas, electric blasts, etc.), like the utility belt. The mask is also a transmitter-receiver. utility belt - Designed by her dad, it's meant to be utilized in the same way as his, to keep most of her personal field equipment in and handy. It has equipment such as grappling ropes, nerve toxins, batarangs, smoke bombs, minor explosives, investigative equipment, cutting tools, gas masks, and rebreathers. P E R S P E C T I V E Juniper was never meant to inherit her dad's legacy, he'd wanted more for her than a life of a false public persona and nighttime vigilante delights. He'd trained her just as seriously as he would anyone else, he wanted her to have the means of survival no matter what, but Bruce Wayne had wanted to give his daughter more. Thing's changed from there, both of the Wayne children were still trained in all the skills their father personally utilized, but with Thomas willing to take up the mantle June was allowed to dabble in things she found more enjoyable than weight lifting or kick box classes. Her first art class had been the thing that truly set ablaze in her young soul, she'd decided that the rest of her family could dedicate themselves to the justice system. She wanted to brighten peoples days in other ways, she wanted to be an artist. It all felt so silly nowadays, because she'd attended Pratt Institute for nothing. More importantly though, with Bruce and Thomas Wayne missing, June had been left to stew in her anger and helplessness, she had to give up the life she'd left back in New York, all of her friends, her boyfriend. Everything had to be abandoned in order to protect the last of her loved ones, even if it meant distancing herself from most of them. Made from a skin-tight spandex fabric, the mask has plastic lenses with a chrome covering that allow Theo to see out, without letting others see in. The lenses also protect his eyes and help with visual sensory overload. He also wears a twin set of web shooters on his wrists under the gloves. The suit also contains special earpieces designed by his dad that protects him from the sensory overload's and a thermal thread to the fabric to help Theo in cooler climates. web-shooters - web fluid - utility belt - A copy-cat of Spider-Man's gear; web-shooters that allow him to shoot web-balls and web swing through New York City. Web Fluid, it's strong enough to hold an entire person up by a single string, stick someone onto a wall, stick something together, etc. The fluid melt in an hour, two hours in cold temperatures. Utility Belt, holding web cartridges spider-tracers which are small spider shaped trackers that he can throw and stick to people. These tracers are linked to Theo's Spider-Sense, which can help him attempting to track down individuals. They only have a 10 hour battery life. P E R S P E C T I V E Theodore has had an easy life, popular due to his charming personality throughout school, riding a scholarship through college, landing his dream job in a research lab, none of it amounts to the time he spent learning how to be a web slinging hero alongside his dad. If there is one thing Theo is truly passionate about, it's saving people. He always felt the call to be a hero, to help those who needed helping. He's fortunate that he father has long since retired, anonymous to the world as ever having been Spider-Man. Theodore was raised in a loving and energetic home, pushed to excel in his studies he ended up graduating high school at fifteen, getting a jump on his college curriculum and only hindered by the sensory overloads he had to endure as a result of his enhanced Spidey senses. He started training with his dad at sixteen, eager to help his father protect New York in whatever ways he could. To say Theo had an easy life would be an understatement. They lived comfortably, his mom a scientist while his dad juggled being a photographer for the Daily Bugle and the web slinging vigilante. Theodore never wanted for anything, though he grew up a modest and kind boy. He was just as happy to go thrifting than to buy name brand clothes. He found second hand technology more fun because it gave him the chance to tinker with it if issues arose. Theo became Spider-Man's effective side-kick, taking on more and more responsibility over the years as he finished college, internships, and eventually landed his dream job in a research lab. Now that Peter Parker has retired from the hero life, using his free time to volunteer in soup kitchens instead, Redback has fully replaced Spider-Man in terms of the friendly neighborhood spider friend. It doesn't matter if he's simply rescuing cats from trees, carrying old ladies groceries, or stopping bank robberies. Theodore is just happy to help however he can, he understands what having the power to help people means he should no matter what. Even her name was meant to be a trial, Rune, meaning secret for her very existence was kept a secret from her family in Asgard. She grew up loved and cherished by her mother, around spirits who filled her days with stories, training and learning and always, always going through some sort of trial. Her mother had cooed, slender fingers running through her long hair. Rune was but a small child, nestled in the warmth of a bed her mother had made just for her. "I love you, my precious Rune." It was truth she knew bone deep, her mother loved her irrevocably. That love formed Rune more than even hate could have, for everyday she strived to be the perfect daughter her mother longed for. Hela had never truly wanted a child, but once she'd held her daughter in her arms for the first time there was no going back for either of them. It was a shame her father was so inconsequential, a single night of needless passion shared with a man whom seemed a little too passionate about death but not for life. Hela had offered to spare his life if he was willing to slaughter their unborn child, and when he'd agreed she knew where he belonged. His spirit resided in a pit in Hel, whist Rune slept soundly in the palace her mother had created for them, utterly unaware of the suffering her father's soul endured. "The worst punishment of all is not death, but banishment." Rune is ten the day she learned the truth of their banishment, about Asgard, about the family who did not want her. It often sat like a heavy rock in her stomach once she'd learnt she was also banished for the simple sin of being Hela's daughter. Of course, she had no way of knowing these were simply twisted truths. If Odin, or even Thor, had learned of Rune's existence she very likely would have been taken from Hel. "Death can be gentle, it can be warm, but banishment? One's sovereignty over the land is expressed most powerfully in the act of banishment, Asgard is ruled by a cruel beast." Rune never quite learned why it was that her mother was actually banished for, but she knew her mother as she knew no other. Hela had never been cruel in front of her, she'd never said so much as a harsh word to her daughter. She trained her relentlessly, yes, but she was tender in her affection toward the young girl. Rune grew up with only Hela, the the spirits that filled Hel. Of course, she was never allowed to go to the areas of punishment. Hel was a world bound to the mind of its mistress and queen. The realm shifted by her will. Its laws are ancient, and her whims can twist those laws as she sees fit. As Valhalla is a realm of honor, Hel is the realm of trials. For the wicked, it is punishment. For the righteous, it is reward. For Rune, it was simply the place she called home. She'd never expected to be able to venture out of Hel, but one day her mother came to her and explained the woes of Midgard, about Hela's siblings Thor and Loki vanishing, about the throne sitting unattended in Asgard. Hela saw it as a chance at freedom for them at long last, but she would not make a move for that freedom until she was certain of it's success for Rune. So, to Midgard Rune went. Her mission was simple, answer the call to aid, learn what was happening, and in time help her mother take the throne. It wasn't just the goodbye, but the silence that filled spaces that never should have been silent, the laughter that still echoed in her ears sometimes, the bittersweet look he'd had on his face as he'd pushed her away, when he'd ordered her to run not with a scream but a whisper. She was getting ahead of herself, though, because that was what had happened toward the end of it all, not the start. The start was something like this; Viktor von Doom fell in love with not a woman, but the concept of one. He was a monster of a man, obsessed with perfection in every sense of the word. He ruled his empire justly, not fairly. He gave the people a reason to stay, and that reason was fear. He knew what he wanted, and how to get it, and he was unafraid of taking what he wanted. Zaria doesn't remember much of her mother, she was there for the twins first half of life, a presence of soft safety and understanding where's their father demanded more, more, more. The twins were trained in how to wield their powers from the day they were able to stand, different forms of physical combat beat into them until they weren't helpless babes anymore. The day their mother vanished was the day everything got a thousand times worse. "The woman is a coward." Their father had spat the words, anger in every inch of his tense frame. She'd run away, he'd told them, left them behind to save herself. It was the only time their father admitted that he was something any of them needed saving from. His expectations for them became harsher after that day, and while her elder brother was perfect at always meeting those expectations, Zaria wasn't. No matter how hard she tried, she simply wasn't good enough to be the perfect daughter. She became a constant source of disappointment for her father, and he sought to correct it in the only way he could think of. An arranged marriage was formed with an ally, several years her elder, set for her twenty second birthday. Zaria would have sooner died, and it was amid wedding preparations that she'd decided that she wasn't going to sit there and agree to something like this, no matter what her father expected of her. She gave up on being the perfect daughter, and instead took a page out of her mothers book. Her brother and her were going to run away together, escape from beneath Doom's oppressive thumb, but when the time came their father was onto them. Her brother stayed behind, and Zaria got away. Everyday since her grand escape, she's lived the life of a runaway. She ran into a man with a foul mouth and strong temper not long after she'd left, in the middle of a vicious bar fight, and he'd helped her in ways she could never fully thank him for, even now. He taught her how to survive in a world she was unfamiliar with, taught Zaria not just how to fight but how to kill, how to ride motorcycles, and most importantly, credit card fraud. She'd spent two years with Logan, and then one day he vanished without a trace. She waited around for a month, hoping he'd come back to the motel they'd been living out of, but when he didn't she left a note with the man who owned the place, and took Logan's bag with her when she skipped town. Zaria spent the last year looking not just for her lost mother, but for the man who she felt was more like her father than her father ever had been. Luke doesn't want to get shot in the head. shield - The shield, inspired by his fathers, is composed of four concentric sections, with fittings on the inner surface for two electromagnet straps that allow the shield to easily be held and worn on Luke's arm. The straps connect to another electromagnet worn at the hand and forearm, making recall of the shield easier. P E R S P E C T I V E Heroes are selfless people who perform extraordinary acts. The mark of heroes is not necessarily the result of their action, but what they are willing to do for others and for their chosen cause. Even if they fail, their determination lives on for others to follow. The glory lies not in the achievement, but in the sacrifice. He grew up in a way his father hadn't, constantly training to fill his shoes, to make up for his weaknesses, to become better than Captain America ever was meant to be. When he was younger, Luke was obsessed with the story of Icarus. He wanted to make his own wings and fly away from it all, even if his wings were simply made of wax. So long as he got close enough to touch the sun, he knew he would throw his head back and laugh with joy before the inevitable crash. His father was like the sun to him, always out of reach, never quite close enough for him to touch but he was always reaching out, hoping to get just a glimpse of the man. He never did, and as he grew older the childish hope for freedom from the things that trapped him that Icarus embodied drowned as if Luke himself had crashed into the ocean. Entering the academy had been an escape that he was looking for, and there Lucian made friends and allies, he learned what kind of hero he wanted to be instead of what sort of hero he was expected to be. The thing was though, no matter how far away he went he could never escape the shadows the sun cast. His success in the academy reached his fathers ears, and Luke was pulled to work alongside the man. He was happy, in a way, because the closeness he'd always wanted with his dad was finally attainable, but if you get too close to the sun burning is inevitable. His friendships and relationships began to struggle, and Luke had to decide between becoming the type of man who would make his father proud, or becoming the man he wanted. In the end, his bonds from the academy were amicably severed and Lucian threw himself into his work with the I.H.A. only looking back when the loneliness caught up to him at night. He considers himself lucky, Captain America hasn't gone missing and remains a steadfast member of the I.H.A. but those responsibilities hold him back from old ideals. So, Luke was sent in his place. All in all, Bella had a happy, normal life. She met a few X-Men because of her dad's connections, even convinced Cyclops to come to her show and tell in the 5th grade, but she'd never had any dreams of grander when it came to being a hero. She wanted to be a figure skater, and once she'd finished with college she'd gotten the chance to chase that dream. It all fell apart the week of her twenty-seventh birthday, she'd returned to her childhood home to spend the week with her parents. The first few days had been perfect, family breakfast and dinners, going out together, hiking, ice skating, it was almost like when she was growing up again. All the stress her fathers was faced with seemed to melt away as they spent time together, but Bobby was a hero and the same people who had came for his friends and pseudo-family finally came for him. Bobby and Bellamy had been talking at the top of the stairs, he'd had a bag over his shoulder an she'd been confused about why he was leaving when her birthday was the next day, when the first shot rang out. It was punctured by shattering glass, and the choked sound of her moms scream.
