I like Aksel, but his power's too similar to Skylar's. If you still want to keep a similar theme to his love of music and sound, Vibration Manipulation or Enhanced Synesthesia from Heroes would be better choices.

Sky’s power is expressive and dramatic, while Echo’s is reactive and quiet. Even their motivations are opposite: Sky wants to be unforgettable, Echo just wants to be understood.

I actually think there’s a lot of potential for the two to interact. Their powers could play off each other in interesting ways: Echo tuning into Sky’s emotional frequency, maybe even helping him regulate it, or vice versa. Maybe Sky gives Aksel a burst of himself so that Aksel can "follow his lead" and be even more convincing when needed. It could lead to some cool narrative moments and emotional tension.

I see what you're saying, but what made me say that their powers are too similar is that they both trigger mass emotional shifts and if Skylar's already making people feel what he feels on an amplified level that just means that Aksel would just be amplifying that even more since he'll automatically be the strongest emotion in the vicinity unless they're facing someone with even more heightened emotions.

I feel like it just leads to more chaos and people having even less control over their characters whenever the two of them are around.

You can keep it in your backpocket when power swapping comes into play and characters have more control over their powers, but right now I don't see it working well in the beginning, especially as things are going to get really intense once the group realizes they have powers and have to face someone aggressively trying to kill them on Day 2. They'll either be killed or end up killing each other for him.

Hey, thanks for explaining more—I totally get where you’re coming from now. I just want to clarify that Aksel’s power isn’t designed to amplify emotions the way Skylar’s is. He doesn’t trigger mass emotional shifts himself—he’s more like a sponge than a speaker. He absorbs the strongest emotion in the room, but he doesn’t project it unless something pushes him past his threshold. So if Skylar’s already radiating, Echo’s not doubling it—he’s drowning in it.

I built Echo to be reactive and quiet, not chaotic. He’s not going to hijack scenes or override other characters’ agency. If anything, he’s the one most likely to get overwhelmed and pull back. I’m happy to play him with that in mind, especially early on when powers are unstable.

Totally fine to keep the current version in my back pocket if needed, but I do think Echo can work as-is without causing disruption. I’ll make sure he stays grounded and doesn’t add to the chaos unless it’s narratively earned.
