Lazarus Corporation was a genetics research company that specialized in cloning. One month ago, a B.O.W outbreak in a nearby town resulted in numerous casualties. While the outbreak was contained, hidden files discovered afterwards regarding cloning research involving Umbrella's most notorious mutations resulted in blame falling upon Lazarus Corporation. However, Charlie (My OC), a former employee at Lazarus Corporation believes that her and her fellow researchers have been framed and now seeks to prove their innocence.
This RP takes place in 2025, so, sometime after the events of Village. Since Requiem isn't out yet, we'll just ignore that game for now.
And, now, to provide some more worldbuilding and backstory, here are some of Charlie's research files-
We've managed to create our first successful viral-infected human clone. Prior to this, we attempted to clone animals infected with the T-Virus and Las Plagas. To say they were unsuccessful would be an understatement as the clones were too unstable and perished before any real research could be done on them. Our first clone patient is a young Caucasian male by the name of Steve Burnside. Prior files state that Burnside had fallen victim to the T-Veronica virus over two decades prior and succumed to fatal injuries afterwards. The patient appears to have adapted to the virus (something noted in Lady Ashford's files) allowing him some semblance of self control. Of course, him being a hormonal teenager even after all these years has resulted in unwitting transformation into what my fellow researchers call "a mix between The Hulk and a Ninja Turtle" when under emotional duress. A comparison that, while blunt, is fitting.
Burnside has shown interest in a woman by the name of Claire Redfield. Apparently, they had met sometime in the past and he had developed something of a crush on her. While I was able to confirm that she was alive and well, he was disappointed when I told him that he would be unable to reunite with her due to his existence needed to be kept a secret for the time being. That being said, perhaps, someday, I may see if I can pull some strings with the higher ups and have her pay a visit.
Birkin was our second attempt to clone another viral-infected being. And, while a success, lead to more discoveries than with had occurred with Mr. Burnside. Initially, Birkin was considered a failure as his cognitive function had yet to develop and his behavior was more akin to an instinctive beast rather than anything remotely human. Over the next few weeks, however, his brain function returned to normal and was able to communicate effectively with other staff and myself. He was able to control his mutated forms and shift between them at will though seems to prefer his initial human appearance. Birkin has also displayed interest in our work and I've even allowed him to join me in the lab to assist in my research. While I am aware that he's a patient and my feelings shouldn't get in the way of my research, I must admit I find myself growing fond of him. Though, knowing he is a widow, I am uncertain if he has any interest in any pursuit of finding a partner.
Three weeks after, Birkin began displaying unusual behaviors. His appetite increased drastically and he became increasingly agitated and emotional. In a relatively short amount of time, his body weight had doubled. After some tests, it was revealed that the G-Virus within Birkin had mutated allowing him the ability to reproduce without the need to implant others. After another four weeks, Birkin entered a trance-like state and shifted into his fifth blob-like form upon which miniature versions of said blob form emerged from an abdominal pouch similar to those found on seahorses. I've dubbed these creatures Golgotha Larva (or G-Blobs for shot). They're actually kinda cute once you get past all the teeth and tentacles. Birkin appears to be fiercely protective of his new young keeping them close to him as he continues to aid in my research. I'm admittedly thankful that he trusts me enough to look after the little blobs as well.
I don't know how this happened. One moment, I remember going over some research notes. The next, the entire facility was under attack by B.O.W.s . If that wasn't bad enough, we've been put under fire for the outbreak. It wasn't us, I swear. Our research was to help people, not to create more bioweapons. Someone else is behind this but I don't know who or why.
The only saving grace so far is that the clones made it out safely. However, I am unaware of their current whereabouts. All I know is that, prior to our escape, I told them to keep a low profile since their existence needed to be kept a secret. I just hope they're still ok and that I can reunite with them soon.
And, now, the rules-
1. Yes, you can play as more than one character. Just let me know in the replies who you would like to play as. 2. Romance is allowed. Just remember to keep it consensual and legal/moral. 3. Yes, Fancharacters/OCs/Self-Inserts are allowed. Just keep them reasonable, please. If you're not sure, feel free to reply to this thread with a character sheet of your OC for review. 4. No taking control of other people's characters without permission. If a player is unavailable for whatever reason, please be patient and wait for them to return. If a player decides to drop out of the RP for whatever reason, they can have whichever characters they were playing as be available for someone else to use if they so choose to do so. 5. Since this is a Resident Evil RP, there is going to be some degree of violence and horror. Just, please, don't go overboard. It's possible to write about someone getting attacked by a zombie without having to post several paragraphs of explicit gore. 6. No killing off other player's characters without permission. That's just rude. 7. No hijacking. Starting subplots is fine, but don't jump in and derail a storyline other players have established. If you're not sure if the GM (me) or other players have story plans regarding their characters, feel free to PM for confirmation. That being said, I don't have a strict plotline in mind, so, if you have any suggestions for plot ideas, feel free to PM me.
If you have any other questions or are interested, feel free to reply below. I'll try to reply as quickly as I can.
@BaronOBeefDip I had a question about the timeline. What era are we currently in for this story? For the character I have in mind, I need a more accurate timeline so I can form his story. I know we have to be somewhere in 2018, given it's two decades after T-Veronica, which was in 1998, so somewhere around The Baker Incident from Biohazard.
Whoops, sorry, error on my end. I forgot how to math. It takes place during modern times (2025). I'll get that fixed.
Oh, no biggie at all, it happens. I'm just one of those people that likes an accurate timeline when it comes to my characters haha. So we're after the events of RE 8. Thank you, thats a big help.
The Golgotha Larva (or G-blobs for short) are the offspring of the cloned William Birkin due to the G-virus (Henceforth, this strain will be called "G-Neo" to distinguish it from prior strains) mutating in his body. This strain has allowed Birkin the ability to reproduce without the need to implant embryos into other beings. A relief for anyone who reads this, I'm sure. As such, the only ways to transfer G-Neo is through either a blood transfusion, or through intercourse.
Currently, Birkin has given birth to four offspring. The G-blobs are roughly the size of a small house cat and weigh only a few pounds. As their name suggests, they resemble a miniature version of Birkin's fifth Golgotha form. They are characterized by the rubbery rust-red skin, round mouth filled with rows of teeth, numerous tentacles, large orange colored eyes, as well as a vestigial second head consisting of mainly an upper jaw and red eyes. Their primary source of locomotion is to simply crawl about on the ground. While not particularly fast, they can cross a surprisingly amount of distance if determined enough. So, it's best to keep a close eye on them at all times. While they can use their tentacles to climb, they are not particularly graceful when doing so. My guess is that this is more to them being juveniles rather than anything else. Where the G-blobs thrive most, in terms of movement, however, is underwater. They are surprisingly adept swimmers capable of moving with surprising grace and agility. Likewise, preliminary examinations show that they also possess a small set of gills allowing them to breathe underwater. I have yet to see if Birkin himself possesses such gills though the prospect is likely.
In terms of intelligence, the G-blobs demonstrate cognitive skills comparable to that of a human toddler. They are very curious and have the habit of wanting to explore any surface they can reach. Cute, yes, but also a handful at times. G-Blobs are also highly omnivorous scavengers capable of eating various forms of plant and animal matter. However, their jaws are relatively weak by comparison requiring them to swallow food whole. When threatened, they will emit a loud shrieking sound alerting Birkin to their presence. They may also bite using their sharp teeth, though, given their weak jaws, they are incapable of doing any serious damage.
Since they are in the larval stage, I suspect that they may be capable of metamorphosis. When this occurs and what happens has yet to be documented.
Took this photo of Birkin for reference. I really wish he'd smile more. I tried telling him he looks good with a "dad bod", but I'm not sure if he acknowledged I was trying to cheer him up. I can't say I blame him, though. After everything he's been through, I wouldn't have much to smile about either.
William Birkin the monster, William Birkin the mad scientist. But, there's also William Birkin the husband, William Birkin the father. By no means am I diminishing his involvement in the Raccoon City incident. There's no changing what he did. But, that also doesn't change that he's as much a victim as he is a contributor. When I told him about what had happened, he took it hard. Losing his wife, being estranged from his daughter, being responsible for countless lost lives due to poor choices and being unable to control his actions as a rampaging abomination.
And, yet, that's not the person I've been working with for these past few days. Sure, he's most definitely no longer human. Lord knows it took me a while to get used to that shoulder-eye just staring at me. Being around him makes me happy. Makes me feel things I haven't felt in forever.
Truth is...I love him. I love him and I can't tell him. He's still mourning over Annette. And, I don't want to break his heart again.
They want us to clone him? That monster? Are they insane? Yes, Steve and Birkin were dangerous, but they also lacked control over their actions prior to cloning. But, him? He's just a disaster waiting to happen. I don't care what the higher-ups say. It's far too great of a risk.
If they want to clone Albert Wesker, that's entirely on them. Leave me out of it.
Despite their impressive array of abilities, it should be noted that Golgotha are far from impervious to harm. In the event that Birkin shows increased hostility, the following tactics should be used to non-fatally subdue him.
Eyesight-Though Birkin's various forms are distinguished by the growth of extra eyes, this can be as much a hindrance to him as a benefit. Golgotha eyesight is relatively poor and better suited to distinguishing light and movement. Because of this, Birkin can be easily distracted by moving objects which can trigger a sort of predatory behavior similar to that of a cat when it notices a mouse moving in the grass. Likewise, bright flashes of light can temporarily stun and blind Birkin allowing for quick escape.
Temperature-The G-blobs have shown that they are susceptible to lower temperatures. One of them managed to crawl its way into a cold storage unit. The blob was otherwise unharmed, but had entered a dormant state once its body temperature had lowered significantly. It's possible that, in case of emergency, we could also lower Birkin's body temperature and induce a state of hibernation in him as well.
Fire/Chemicals-Golgotha have shown a particular weakness to fire as well as burns from chemicals such as acids. Tissue tests have shown that the burns severely inhibit the regeneration process but doesn't completely stop it. Due to the high risk, this should only be used as a last resort.
Birth-When Birkin first gave birth, he had entered a trance. In this state, he was completely oblivious to everything around him. In this state, he is extremely vulnerable to attack. However, this window is extremely short and Birkin will immediately regain awareness after producing offspring. If he does produce more offspring, it may be important to observe his behavior. Shortly before going into a trance, he appears to seek a secluded place to safely give birth.
Size-Do not underestimate Birkin's speed. Despite ballooning to nearly 300 pounds, he can be surprisingly fast if he needs to. However, to say he is ungraceful would be an understatement. His bulk hinders his agility and he has difficulty making quick turns.
In case anyone is wondering, you don't need to read all the research files in the OOC section. It's just extra worldbuilding. You can jump in whenever you like. Even though the RP has started, anyone is invited to join in at any time. We are still looking for people to play canon characters (Particularly William Birkin, or any of the main heroes such as Chris, Jill, Leon, or Claire).
It takes place in an unnamed city somewhere in the US. Currently, Price and Charlie are escaping into a forest via vehicle and Hawking is in said forest eating his dinner.
